13 players for Duck fans to watch in Under Armour All-American Bowl on Wednesday

The Under Armour All-American game is on Wednesday, featuring a handful of Oregon Ducks and several top prospects.

It’s All-American Bowl season in the world of college football recruiting, and things kick off on Wednesday afternoon with the 2024 Under Armour All-American Bowl down in Orlando, Florida.

The game will be televised on ESPN, kicking off at 1 p.m. PT. A total of six Oregon Duck signees from the 2024 recruiting class are playing in the game, looking to showcase their skills and prove why they were such highly-rated recruits throughout the process.

On top of just the Oregon commits, though, there are a lot of players in this game who Duck fans should keep an eye on. Whether or not they considered Oregon in the recruiting process — and could potentially consider them again in a potential transfer situation down the road — some of the best players in the nation will be playing in this game.

Here’s who you should keep an eye on:

Oregon DL Aydin Breland making an early impact at Under Armour All-American practice

Oregon Ducks’ 5-star DL Aydin Breland is having an early impact at the Under Armour All-American Game practices this week.

We’re getting into the All-American game season, where the top-rated recruits and signees across the country gather to practice against each other and showcase their abilities in high school all-star games over the next month.

The first one on the schedule is the Under Armour All-American Game, which will be played on Wednesday, January 3rd, at 1 p.m. PT. There are a number of Oregon signees playing in the game, such as 5-star DL Aydin Breland, 4-star WR Jeremiah McClellan, 4-star OT JacQawn McRoy, and a handful of others.

Early on, it appears that Breland is making an impact and turning some heads in practice. He was recently named a top performer in the first day of practice per 247Sports:

Breland was one of the best during bag drills for the defensive linemen, flashing both power and twitch in his hips. Breland wasn’t asked to stunt a whole bunch at Mater Dei and never really stuffed the stat sheet, but he moves extremely well for someone his size. It will be interesting to see if he takes over 1-on-1s in the coming practices.

We will continue to monitor Breland and other Ducks’ performances over the coming days, and then look to see how they all show out on ESPN Wednesday afternoon.

8 of Oregon’s highest-rated commits in 2023 will be playing on TV this week

Duck fans will get a couple of chances to see some of the best Oregon signees in the 2023 class play on national TV this week.

Over the past handful of months, Oregon Duck fans have become enthralled with the prospect of what their future roster could look like once they get to see the new class of recruits come to Eugene. They’ve watched the high school tape and read all of the interviews. Now they get a new chance to see what these players can do on a bigger stage.

It’s the first week in January, which means we get a pair of All-American games for high school prospects to showcase their skills.

The first game — Under Armour’s NEXT All-American Game — takes place on Tuesday afternoon at 2 p.m. PT on ESPN. The second high school showcase — the All-American Bowl — will take place on Saturday, Jan. 7, at 10 a.m. PT on NBC.

For the Ducks, there are dozens of players that you should keep an eye on in the games, many of whom either signed with Oregon or took a hard look at the Ducks down the stretch of their recruitment, and could potentially be names to look at down the road should then ever enter the transfer portal.

If you’re more interested in the guys that will for sure be coming to Eugene this next season, though, we’ve got you covered. Here are the nine Ducks who were scheduled to participate in the All-American games this week (one has scratched), and how you can watch them:

Most important players for Duck fans to watch at Under Armour All-American Game

Some of the top-ranked players in the 2023 class will play on ESPN Tuesday afternoon. Here’s who Oregon fans should keep an eye on.

We spent a good portion of December in the college football world focusing on where these players would sign their national letters of intent. Now we get a chance to watch what they can do on the field.

It’s time to see what all of the hype is about.

The Under Armour NEXT All-American Game takes place on Tuesday afternoon in Orlando, Florida, offering an opportunity for some of the best players in the 2023 recruiting class to participate in a showcase that will highlight their talents and further elevate their brands. The game will be broadcast on ESPN at 2 p.m. PT.

A handful of players who did not officially sign their NLI during the early signing period plan to announce their commitments during the game as well. Four-star defensive lineman Ashton Porter is one of them, and he is heavily favored to commit to the Oregon Ducks.

While there will be a handful of Oregon signees players on the field — Daylen Austin, Kodi DeCambra and Ashton Cozart headline the list — this will also give Duck fans a chance to see some of the top prospects in the nation. Many of them took a serious look at coming to Eugene before committing elsewhere. Whether you want to see the players Oregon missed on or do some preview work in case any of these players should end up in the transfer portal in the coming years, now is your chance.

Here is a list of the most important players for Duck fans to watch on Tuesday:

Which Florida signees are participating in All-Star games?

Florida’s class of 2023 is almost ready to join the team, but a good chunk of the class still has one more game to play at the high school level.

Before they officially join the team in Gainesville, several of Florida’s signees from the class of 2023 will participate in high school All-Star games in January.

Nearly half the class will play in the Under Armour All-American game on Jan. 3, including five-star quarterback [autotag]Jaden Rashada[/autotag], four-star offensive lineman [autotag]Roderick Kearney[/autotag], three-star lineman [autotag]Knijeah Harris[/autotag] and four-star receiver [autotag]Eugene Wilson III[/autotag] on the offensive side of the ball. Hopefully, Rashad and Wilson can link up at some point during the game to give Gators fans a preview of the dynamic connection headed to Hogtown.

On defense, four-star defensive linemen [autotag]Kelby Collins[/autotag] and [autotag]Will Norman[/autotag] will join four-star safety [autotag]Jordan Castell[/autotag], four-star defensive back [autotag]Sharif Denson[/autotag] and four-star cornerbacks [autotag]Ja’Keem Jackson[/autotag] and [autotag]Dijon Johnson[/autotag] on the field. With a bevy of defensive departures hitting the Gators this offseason, those players should have a decent shot at early playing time.

Then there’s the All-American Bowl on Jan. 7. Four-star Running back Treyaun Webb and four-star defensive lineman Kamran James will represent Florida during their final appearances at the high school level. Webb is a polished product despite splitting carries his senior year, so there’s not much to learn about him, but the staff and fans should get a clearer picture of where James stands as he competes against some of the top players in the country.

It’s almost time for the class of 2023 to transition to the next phase of their career, but it’s always nice to see these players get one last nod of recognition for their dominance at the prep level.

5-star prospect David Hicks schedules Oklahoma official visit for Beldam

Five-star DL David Hicks plans to visit Oklahoma for an official visit in November.

Oklahoma’s heavy lifting on the recruiting trail for the class of 2023 now takes a bit of a backseat to the start of the 2022 college football season. Recruiting is never done; it’s just reprioritized as the Oklahoma Sooners begin their 2022 quest.

The summer months saw them rise dramatically from just inside the top 50 of 247Sports team rankings to inside the top five. As things stand, the Sooners have 22 commitments in the 2023 recruiting class.

The Sooners still have space for a few more recruits. If the Sooners are able to close on David Hicks, he would be the top player in their 2023 recruiting class. Hicks, a five-star defensive line prospect out of Katy, Texas, just confirmed to On3 that he plans to take his official visit to the University of Oklahoma on Nov. 19.

The insanely talented defensive lineman is a can’t-miss prospect. He has a great relationship with Sooners defensive tackles coach Todd Bates. Their relationship started when Bates was still at Clemson.

Once thought a significant Aggie lean, predictions from multiple recruiting services show that Oklahoma is a real player here.

On3 national recruiting analyst Sam Spiegelman recently issued a prediction in favor of Oklahoma to land Hicks. The visit to Oklahoma takes place when Bedlam comes to Norman in what should be a meaningful game in the race to secure a spot in the Big 12 championship. Norman should be rocking, and that will only add to the atmosphere of a potentially huge weekend for Oklahoma.

The [autotag]David Hicks[/autotag] recruitment will not see an end until the Under Armour All-American game, which is when Hicks plans to announce his commitment. There’s a long way to go here, but securing one of his final official visits puts Oklahoma in a great spot to land the five-star talent.

What are the Oklahoma Sooners getting with new four-star QB commit Jackson Arnold?

After landing the commitment of Jackson Arnold, we decided to take a look at what the Sooners were getting from the four-star QB.

After a week that saw two predictions sending him to Oklahoma, 2023 four-star quarterback Jackson Arnold did just that Monday by committing to Oklahoma.

Arnold is the top QB in the state of Texas for the 2023 class and has a lot of potential. He gives the Sooners some major recruiting momentum as they look to close out their 2022 class and go full steam ahead with the 2023 class.

The question is: What are the Sooners getting in their newest signal-caller? Let’s take a look at what the recruiting industry says about him.

Arnold stands about right at 6-foot-2 and somewhere hovering at or around 200 pounds. He’s by no means the best athlete on the field but he certainly has plenty of athleticism to make throws out the pocket and off-platform. He can use his feet to get the job done if necessary.

Below is an example of it as Arnold is forced to relocate with the pocket collapsing. Instead of panicking, he calmly slides to his right, resets his base, and delivers a strike to his target for a touchdown.

Arnold was highly productive against some of the elite high school competition in the country while playing at the 6A level in Texas. A shade under 4,000 passing yards, 34 passing touchdowns, only 5 interceptions and he also ran 208 times for 659 yards and 12 touchdowns.

He’s already committed to playing in the Under Armour All-American game next year as well.

This was his first season as a full-time starter as he sat behind current Texas A&M QB Eli Stowers his first few years. An entire offseason and a college decision behind him should really help Arnold as he can continue focusing on his individual game, recruiting his future teammates, and doing whatever he can to help his team get over the state championship game hurdle.

Ultimately, Arnold is the exact type of QB that Lebby favors in his veer and shoot system. The dual-threat ability is paramount even if Arnold isn’t Kyler Murray as a runner. The ability to keep the defense off-kilter because of the quarterback’s ability to throw or run the ball just opens up so many options. Having a quarterback with excellent deep-ball accuracy as Lebby loves to take shots down the field is key. Arnold has been commended for his deep ball accuracy per Gabe Brooks of 247Sports.

Presumed starter for the 2022 season, Dillon Gabriel, isn’t the biggest or most athletic guy but he can use his feet and is able to make whatever throw Lebby asks of him. Arnold looks to be in a similar mold in that regard.

The Sooners landed a good one and continued to build their QB room, which is now in a much better place than it was a few months ago. They can take a deep sigh of relief as their future at the QB position is more stable than it was before the day started.

Sooners signee Robert Spears-Jennings Stock Rising after Impressive week at Under Armour All-America Week

247Sports reporter Gabe Brooks says OU signee Robert Spears-Jennings’ stock is rising following the Under Armour All-America week.

Oklahoma signee Robert Spears-Jennings turned some heads with his performance throughout the Under Armour All-America week.

247Sports reporter Gabe Brooks listed Spears-Jennings as one of the players whose stock was rising following the Under Armour All-America Game.

Oklahoma signee Robert Spears-Jennings, a high three-star 88, could be on Top247 watch after his stellar Under Armour All-America week. The 6-foot-1, 192-pounder out of Broken Arrow (Okla.) High School has tested in the 4.5s in the past and put together a well-rounded UA performance that included not only winning the fastest man competition — beating Texas A&M four-star safety signee Bryce Anderson, owner of a 10.48 100 — but encouraging lateral and in-space movement abilities as well.

247Sports national analyst Chris Singletary noted that Spears-Jennings, who owns snaps on both sides of the ball, “has a body type that can see him play in the back end or linebacker positions.” That is particularly valuable given the style of today’s game, which should play to Spears-Jennings’ strengths. – Brooks, 247Sports.

Spears-Jennings is rated as a four-star signee by ESPN and On3, while 247Sports and Rivals rank him as a three-star signee.

ESPN rates Spears-Jennings as the nation’s No. 132 player overall in the 2022 class and the country’s No. 12 athlete. On3 ranks the Broken Arrow product as the nation’s 15th-best safety and No. 173 player overall.

Meanwhile, 247Sports has Spears-Jennings as the nation’s 42-best safety and Rivals ranks him as the country’s No. 36 safety in the 2022 class.

Robert Spears Jennings’ Recruiting Profile

Rating

Stars Overall State Position
247Sports 3 N/A 9 42
Rivals 3 N/A 13 36
ESPN 4 132 4 12
247 Composite 4 266 6 24
On3 Recruiting 4 173 4 15
On3 Composite 4 238 5 20

Spears-Jennings was joined by several other Oklahoma signees at the Under Armour All-America Game. Wide receiver Jayden Gibson, running back Jovantae Barnes and linebacker Kobie McKinzie also took part in the game.

Spears-Jennings will be an interesting piece for Oklahoma head football coach Brent Venables and his staff. As 247Sports reporters Gabe Brooks and Chris Singletary noted, the Sooner signee is versatile enough to play a variety of different positions at Oklahoma.

Experts sound off on UF’s chances for prospects committing at All-American Game

Uncommitted five-star linebacker Harold Perkins is the main prize at the All-American Game, but the Gators have some ground to make up there.

Sunday marks the annual Under Armour All-American Game, where the top high school football prospects from across the country face off against each other. Florida has one commit playing in this game in five-star safety Kamari Wilson, whose decision on early signing day to ink with the Gators over the favorite in Georgia was a big win for head coach Billy Napier.

They’ll look to add another commit on Sunday, as three top prospects will be announcing their commitments during the game. Two of them, edge rusher Omari Abor and running back Jovantae Barnes, are players that UF doesn’t have much of a shot for.

But five-star linebacker Harold Perkins is an interesting case. The Gators aren’t among the finalists he will be choosing from on Sunday, but he doesn’t plan to sign until February and intends to visit Florida sometime during January.

Perkins is the top linebacker in the country and the No. 5 overall prospect in the 2022 class, according to the 247Sports Composite. He would naturally be a major transition class win for Napier, though the odds of UF landing his initial commitment on Sunday are low.

He has currently listed Texas, Texas A&M and LSU as his finalists, and Rivals national recruiting director Adam Gorney expects him to ultimately pledge to the Aggies on Sunday. On3Sports agrees, and its recruiting prediction machine gives TAMU a 96.5% chance of adding Perkins to its class, with the Longhorns and Tigers sitting at 2% and 1%, respectively.

If the Gators are going to sway Perkins, who has publicly stated that he’s interested in the program, they will likely have to do it once he’s committed elsewhere during his January recruiting visit, which will likely come on Jan. 14 or 28, if it happens at all.

WATCH: Florida signee Kamari Wilson snags an INT at All-American Game practice

Wilson made a nice jump on a route in seven-on-sevens and donned a turnover chain.

Florida fans will have the opportunity to watch the top signee currently in coach Billy Napier‘s 2022 recruiting class face off against the best high school players in the country on Sunday in the Under Armour All-American Game. Five-star safety Kamari Wilson, who chose the Gators over Georgia on early signing day, will be participating in the talent showcase. In practice this week, Wilson, the first five-star UF has ever signed from IMG Academy and the No. 28 player in the class, is already making a statement.

During seven-on-seven drills on Thursday, Wilson jumped an underthrown ball on an out route, intercepting it as his fellow prospects went wild. Here’s a video, courtesy of AllGators’ CJ Clarke.

Wilson even got to wear the Under Armour turnover chain after his big play.

Securing Wilson’s signature was Napier’s first big recruiting victory, and it came over the rival Bulldogs, who were considered the favorite to land his services before the Fort Pierce native officially visited Gainesville the weekend before early signing day. He’s been an active recruiter for the Gators since joining the class, and Napier will hope that he’s able to help in bringing along a few more elite prospects.
