Elite TE Lincoln Keyes commits to Georgia

The Georgia Bulldogs have added a commitment from an elite tight end prospect

The Georgia Bulldogs added a commitment from elite tight end recruit  Lincoln Keyes after UGA’s huge home win over the Tennessee Volunteers.

Keyes is a member of the class of 2026. The 6-foot-6, 220-pound tight end is a three-star recruit and committed to Georgia over Michigan, Ohio State and

Keyes plays football for Saline High School in Saline, Michigan. Keyes is the No. 390 recruit in the class of 2026, per 247Sports. The talented tight end is the No. 20 player at his position and the seventh-best recruit in Michigan.

The Saline standout announced his commitment to Georgia football via social media. “Go Dawgs baby,” said Keyes after making his announcement.

Keyes is an excellent athlete and has over 30 scholarship offers from the nation’s best college football programs. The three-star has been recorded running faster than 20 miles per hour during a game this season, so he has outstanding speed.

Why Georgia won’t play any QB outside Carson Beck

Some Georgia football fans need to face the reality that Georgia is not going to play any quarterback outside of Carson Beck

The Georgia Bulldogs are backing quarterback Carson Beck despite his recent interception and fumble issues. Beck and the Georgia offense have turned the ball over three times in each of UGA’s past three games, but Georgia went 2-1 during this stretch.

Beck’s numbers are down across the board in 2024. Beck has 17 touchdown passes and 12 interceptions through nine games. He finished 2023 with 24 touchdown passes and six interceptions.

Georgia’s offensive struggles are not all Beck’s fault. His supporting cast simply isn’t as good as it was a year ago. The Georgia offensive line has not been as effective this season. UGA is averaging just 124.1 rushing yards per game, which is 15th in the SEC. The Dawgs don’t have as reliable pass catchers and lead the country in drops.

So why will Georgia not play another quarterback in Beck’s place?

1. Georgia head coach Kirby Smart supports Beck and is not considering a change.

“Absolutely not,” said Kirby Smart when asked if Georgia is considering a change at quarterback. “We’ve got the quarterback we’ve got who is completely competent, capable and understanding of our system that gives us the best chance to win.”

2. Georgia simply does not have the talent or experience at quarterback to replace Beck with any sort of confidence.

Georgia’s back up quarterbacks are freshman Jaden Rashada, sophomore Gunner Stockton, and freshman Ryan Puglisi.

Rashada has not recorded a stat for Georgia this season. Rashada has played in three career games, while at Arizona State, and put up modest numbers (485 passing yards, four touchdowns and three interceptions on 82 attempts).

Stockton is Georgia’s top backup quarterback. He is more mobile than Beck, which is intriguing, but he has just 31 career pass attempts and was Georgia’s third-string quarterback for all of the 2023 season except for one game.

Puglisi is a true freshman who was unable to participate in much of the spring workouts. Now, is way too soon for him to start over an experienced quarterback like Beck.

3. Carson Beck has proven he can beat the nation’s top teams.

Brett Patzke-Imagn Images

Beck beat the No. 3 Texas Longhorns on the road just a few weeks ago. Beck also played well in the second half in Georgia’s season-opening win over No. 16 Clemson.

Ultimately, Georgia does not have much of a choice. The Bulldogs have to roll with Carson Beck as long as he is healthy because he is UGA’s top quarterback option. There’s no magical player on Georgia’s roster that will be able to step in and save Georgia’s season, so it will have to be Beck and his next opportunity is this Saturday against No. 4 Tennessee.

Georgia football projected to land 4-star WR recruit

The No. 10 wide receiver recruit in the nation is projected to commit to the Georgia Bulldogs!

The Georgia Bulldogs are projected to land a commitment from four-star wide receiver recruit Vance Spafford. Spafford is a member of the class of 2026. He plays high school football for Mission Viejo High School in Mission Viejo, California.

Spafford is ranked as the No. 65 recruit in the 2026 cycle, per 247Sports. The four-star is the No. 10 receiver in the nation and the No. 10 recruit in California.

The 5-foot-11, 175-pound wide receiver has already caught 44 passes for 826 yards and 15 touchdowns through nine games of his junior year. The Mission Viejo standout named Georgia, Oregon, Notre Dame, Washington, Nebraska, Arizona, TCU and Ole Miss to his recently released top schools.

On film, Spafford shows an elite combination of speed and route running ability. He projects as a big play threat at the next level.

The talented receiver would become Georgia’s first offensive commitment in the 2026 cycle. Kirby Smart and company have just two commitments in the class of 2026 thus far.

EA Sports CFB 25 predicts Georgia-Florida game

College Football 25 predicts the winner of the Georgia versus Florida game

Georgia dominated in a preview simulation of Saturday’s showdown between the Georgia Bulldogs and Florida Gators on EA Sports’ “College Football 25” video game. Georgia won thanks to strong performances on both sides of the ball.

Georgia quarterback Carson Beck led the offense, completing 17 of 24 passes for 240 yards and three touchdowns. Running back Trevor Etienne powered through the defense, adding 82 yards and two touchdowns on the ground. Wide receiver Dominic Lovett emerged as the top target, racking up 128 yards on four receptions, including a 71-yard touchdown.

Defensively, linebacker CJ Allen was everywhere, recording 13 total tackles, with safety Malaki Starks right behind him with 10 tackles and a crucial interception. The Georgia defense pressured Florida quarterback DJ Lagway often, forcing him into three costly interceptions.

Cornerback Joenel Aguero, who is facing a suspension for the first half, snagged the second pick, while defensive lineman Mykel Williams capped off the game with a stunning interception on a screen pass, returning it for a pick-six to push Georgia’s lead to 21 points. The game resulted in a 38-17 Georgia blowout win.

Texas coach Steve Sarkisian talks loss to Georgia, controversial penalty reversal

Texas Longhorns coach Steve Sarkisian shares what he said to officials during the controversial waived penalty against Georgia

Texas Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian did not think Texas played its best game against the Georgia Bulldogs, but Sarkisian gives a lot of credit to UGA.

“Unfortunately we didn’t play our best football tonight,” said Sarkisian. “But we were still competitive. Hopefully we get another crack at (Georgia).”

Georgia and Texas could meet in the SEC championship game. Georgia holds a tiebreaker edge over Texas and is higher in the SEC standings than the Longhorns, but both teams only have one SEC loss.

“That’s a good football team. Credit to Kirby and their staff and their players being ready to go in the first half. And like I said, they’ve been the standard in college football now for about five, six, seven years,” Sarkisian said.

Georgia has won two national championships over the last three seasons, but the Bulldogs played with a sense of desperation and desire that Texas could not match on Saturday.

“I thought we played them really well in the second half. But we just, when you get behind the eight ball with the way we played the first half, it’s a lot to overcome,” added Sarkisian.

Georgia outscored Texas 23-0 in the first half. Texas made the game interesting in the second half, but never threatened to take a lead. The Longhorns lost 30-15.

“I was literally just asking the official what he saw to warrant DPI (defensive pass interference). And then at that moment, the trash came on the field,” said Sarkisian on the conversation the officials during the controversial penalty reversal.

“All of us, Longhorn Nation, I know we can be better than that. The fact that we’re able to get that stopped and get that taken care of and then regroup, then they overturn that call, give us an opportunity to get a short field and punch one in and close it to a one-score game,” continued Sarkisian.

Texas’ touchdown following the interception cut Georgia’s lead to eight points. However, Georgia quarterback Carson Beck and the Bulldogs marched down the field to retake a 15-point lead on the next drive.

Georgia’s offense was not the problem for the Longhorns. The Bulldogs relied on their defense, which forced four Texas turnovers to set up the Georgia offense.

Linebackers Jalon Walker and Mykel Williams headline Georgia’s ferocious pass rush, which totaled seven sacks and prevented Texas from finding any offensive rhythm.

“I think No. 13 (Williams) being healthy helped them. He hadn’t played there for a while. I think he played nine snaps last week and then came back tonight ready to go, and he’s a problem,” said Sarkisian.

“No. 11 (Walker) is a physical player off the edge as well at linebacker,” added Sarkisian. Walker finished the first half with three sacks and seven tackles.

“You don’t have the top one or two recruiting classes in the country for six straight years and not have good defensive personnel,” said Sarkisian. “They’ve got good players, and like I said, they’ve got a good scheme.”

4-star RB, UGA recruiting target sets commitment date

The nation’s fifth-best running back recruit is deciding among UGA, Auburn and FSU

Four-star running back recruit Ousmane Kromah has pushed back his commitment date from Sept. 28 to Oct. 5. Kromah, who is a member of the class of 2025, is deciding among Georgia, Auburn and Florida State.

The 5-foot-11, 205-pound running back plays for Lee County High School in Leesburg, Georgia. The four-star is the No. 5 running back in the country, per 247Sports. The Lee County star is the No. 84 recruit in the nation and the No. 11 prospect in Georgia.

The elite running back prospect has visited all three of his top schools recently. Kromah is favored to commit to the Auburn Tigers, according to 247Sports.

Hugh Freeze and Auburn have done an excellent job in the 2025 recruiting cycle. The Tigers have the fourth-best recruiting class in the country. Auburn has 24 commitments in the class of 2025 and is actually ranked ahead of Kirby Smart the Georgia Bulldogs, who have the fifth-best recruiting class in the nation.

PFF ranks 8 SEC schools in preseason top 25

Eight SEC teams are in PFF’s preseason top 25 rankings. Georgia is PFF’s No. 1 team, but how is the rest of the SEC ranked?

Pro Football Focus ranks the Georgia Bulldogs as the No. 1 team in PFF’s 2024 preseason top 25 rankings. PFF ranks eight SEC schools in the top 20.

“With the best coach (Kirby Smart), the best quarterback (Carson Beck) and one of the best rosters in college football, the Bulldogs are one of the favorites to win it all this season,” said Max Chadwick and Dalton Wasserman of PFF.

The college football season is under two weeks away. Georgia is a preseason national championship favorite according to just about any metric out there. Some experts rank Ohio State higher than Georgia, but that’s the only team we’ve seen ranked over Georgia with much consistency entering the 2024 season.

Georgia sophomore LB named as CFB break out player

UGA linebacker named as one of college football’s eight break out sophomores for the 2024 season

ESPN named Georgia Bulldogs sophomore inside linebacker Raylen Wilson as a break out player for the 2024 college football season. Wilson is a former elite recruit with excellent speed.

Wilson is coming off a freshman season during which he played in 12 games and recorded 15 tackles. Wilson was named to the SEC All-Freshman team after the 2023 season.

“He’s instinctive, fast and physical, and can be a downhill thumper who can also be a sideline-to-sideline pursuer,” said ESPN’s Billy Tucker. “Wilson has bulked up to 235 pounds with the same speed and athleticism and filled out his length to enhance his already impressive skills as a blitzer.”

Tucker predicts Wilson will have a massive season with 90 tackles and 4 1/2 sacks. We don’t think this level of production is entirely realistic when looking at Georgia’s inside linebackers room. The Bulldogs also have Smael Mondon and CJ Allen at inside linebacker, so Wilson may not even start.

Georgia Bulldogs defensive coordinator Glenn Schumann recently discussed Allen and Wilson with the media. Both Allen and Wilson saw extended action this spring with Mondon out due to a foot injury.

“CJ and Raylen really benefited from this spring, having the opportunity to take over heightened leadership roles and in bowl prep, and they’ve only grown from that,” said Schumann. “I think you’ve seen an increased confidence in them, and those guys are really mature beyond their years in terms of how they prepare, so they’ve been growing every day. I’m excited about how they’re going to play this year.”

Georgia has to be confident in the depth it has at inside linebacker.

Social media reacts as Juan Gaston commits to Georgia

Georgia Bulldogs fans and coaches are excited after four-star offensive tackle Juan Gaston committed to Georgia football!

Four-star offensive tackle recruit Juan Gaston committed to Georgia football on Aug. 2 at Westlake High School in Atlanta, Georgia. Gaston picked the Georgia Bulldogs over Oregon and Tennessee.

Gaston’s commitment vaulted Georgia past LSU to the third-best recruiting class in the nation. The huge offensive tackle is commitment No. 22 for Georgia in the class of 2025. Thirteen of Georgia’s 22 commitments are from in-state prospects.

The 6-foot-7, 345-pound offensive lineman is ranked as the No. 164 recruit in the class of 2025. Gaston is ranked as the No. 16 offensive tackle and the No. 20 recruit in Georgia, per 247Sports. The four-star is the third-best offensive lineman in Georgia.

Gaston, who plays left tackle for Westlake, joins fellow offensive linemen Cortez Smith, Dontrell Glover and Mason Short as UGA’s four verbal commitment in the class of 2025.

Juan Gaston packs an impressive amount of strength in his larger frame. The Westlake star can squat over 500 pounds and has a streak of nastiness. Gaston is a very physical run blocker. The four-star is a good athlete that plays high school basketball.

ESPN CFB expert has ‘big question’ for Georgia football

Former Alabama football quarterback Greg McElroy has a major concern for the Georgia defense ahead of the 2024 college football season

ESPN college football expert and former Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback Greg McElroy has a big question for Georgia football entering the 2024 college football season. McElroy highlighted his top concerns for Georgia on his podcast, “Always College Football with Greg McElroy.”

“The big question is will they be able to step up and play as well at the line of
scrimmage this upcoming year? As they did in 2022 and 2023, because that was ultimately their downfall there in the biggest game of the season last year,” said McElroy. The former Alabama quarterback has expressed a lot of confidence in Georgia quarterback Carson Beck and the UGA offense, but he has doubts about the Georgia defense and if it is championship-caliber.

“When I watched the SEC Championship game last year, I don’t remember a time in five, six, seven years where I saw Georgia getting mowed off the football,” said McElroy of the Georgia defense against Alabama. “I mean just absolutely mowed off the football. I mean defensive lineman six, seven yards down field with an offensive lineman engaged.” McElroy adds, “They also were not great on the edges.”

Georgia’s rushing defense finished the 2023 college football season ranked as the No. 18 run defense in the country. The Bulldogs allowed 13 rushing touchdowns and 113.6 rushing yards per game, which is not up to Georgia’s lofty defensive standard in the Kirby Smart era.
