5-star OL set to visit Georgia football

5-star OL recruit plans visit to with Georgia Bulldog soon

One of the Georgia Bulldogs’ top recruiting targets is Immanuel Iheanacho, a five-star offensive tackle out of Baltimore’s Georgetown Prep. Iheanacho, who is a member of the class of 2026, is ranked the No. 2 prospect in the nation.

Iheanacho raved about Georgia earlier in the month while competing in the Under Armour All-American Game.

“I love how they’re very raw. They’re gritty. They’re everything that you see with nice, old-fashioned, smash-mouth football. They have Coach Smart, I talk to him. Coach Searles produces guys Amarius Mims, Andrew Thomas, they just won an SEC Championship. They win. I like the campus down there and overall I appreciate the brand of football,” he told On3.

Iheanacho has taken recent visits to Texas A&M, Florida and Auburn. Next weekend he’ll head to either LSU or Georgia, so Kirby Smart and his staff could also have him back in Athens very soon.

The five-star is a player who could step into Athens and immediately compete for a starting spot on the offensive line.

Elite kicker recruit commits to Georgia football

Nation’s No. 7 kicker recruit commits to Georgia football in the class of 2025

The Georgia Bulldogs have added another piece to their already impressive 2025 class. Highly-touted kicker recruit Connor Ferguson, the top-rated kicker in Georgia, has announced his commitment to the Bulldogs. Ferguson recently decommitted from UNC Charlotte.

This late addition to the 2025 class comes as a surprise, as Georgia appeared to have finalized their 2025 recruiting. However, the addition of Ferguson further solidifies UGA football’s commitment depth at kicker.

Ferguson played high school football for Benedictine Military School in Savannah, Georgia. He is ranked as the No. 7 kicker recruit in the country, per Kohl’s Professional Camps. The former UNC Charlotte commit made 13 of 16 field goals this past season including a long of 52 yards.

Ferguson is known for his strong leg and consistent accuracy. His addition provides a significant boost to the Bulldogs’ special teams unit, ensuring they have a reliable kicker for the years to come after Peyton Woodring, a rising junior, leaves. He also served as a punter for his high school.

Georgia football analyst leaves for Fran Brown, Syracuse

Georgia analyst joins Fran Brown at Syracuse, will serve as nickels coach

The Georgia Bulldogs have been known for their elite defensive talent during the Kirby Smart era. The Dawgs have also accumulated a lot of coaching talent over the years and other top college football programs want members of UGA’s coaching staff.

Much like the transfer portal, college football coaching staffs have significant turnover every year as coaches look to further their careers. Former cornerbacks coach Fran Brown left for Syracuse last season and flourished, going 10-3. An upset win over Miami to end the season prevented the Hurricanes from going to the College Football Playoff in Brown’s top win of the season.

Now, Georgia defensive analyst Blaine Miller is expected to join to Fran Brown’s staff at Syracuse to become the new nickels coach.

Miller joined the Georgia staff prior to the 2023 season, which was Brown’s final season at Georgia. Miller is listed as a quality control coach and worked with the inside linebackers, assisting Glenn Schumann, who is Georgia’s defensive coordinator.

Top ranked TE compared to Brock Bowers reclassifies

Tight end recruit compared to Brock Bowers reclassifies. Georgia football is interested

The Georgia Bulldogs are a pipeline for top tight end talent.

Elite tight end recruit Mark Bowman’s reclassification to the 2026 class adds even more intrigue to their recruiting efforts. Bowman’s transition from the 2027 class into the 2026 cycle will surely elevate the competition among the nation’s elite programs.

The 6-foot-4, 215-pound tight end is a physical mismatch with tremendous upside as both a receiver and blocker who is already drawing comparisons to Georgia great Brock Bowers, per 247Sports. His No. 5 ranking in the 2027 class and designation as the nation’s top ranked tight end indicates his potential.

Georgia’s approach to tight end development resonates with prospects like Bowman. The Bulldogs’ consistent use of multiple tight ends ensures rotation and showcases the value placed on the position. The Bulldogs’ knack for maximizing tight end performance in high-pressure games, such as their showdown against Tennessee, solidified Bowman’s admiration for the program while he was in attendance.

Despite Georgia being the early leader in Bowman’s recruitment, Texas and Oregon remain formidable challengers, and plenty of other programs are bound to pursue him aggressively. Bowman’s mentality is focused on earning playing time and that aligns well with Georgia’s “iron sharpens iron” culture.

If Georgia continues its momentum, Bowman could play a pivotal role in maintaining their tight end legacy. With commitment Lincoln Keyes already in place for the 2026 class, Bowman’s addition would bring immense versatility and depth to an already talented tight end room. This will be an exciting recruitment to follow as December approaches.

Four-star safety to visit UGA football

Four-star safety recruit Zech Fort sets official visit with UGA football

IMG Academy’s four-star safety recruit, Zech Fort, recently revealed Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Notre Dame, and Ohio State as his top six schools.

Since announcing his top schools list, Fort has picked up an offer from Bill Belichick and North Carolina, and he has scheduled a visit to Georgia Tech on Feb. 1. Fort remains in contact with a wide array of programs and has already locked in an official visit to one of his top schools.

“I have confirmed an official visit to Georgia from June 13-15,” Fort shared with On3.

When narrowing down his list, Fort expressed strong admiration for Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs.

“Coach Smart played safety at Georgia, so being coached by someone who has played my position would be amazing,” Fort said. “That’s always been a big factor for me when evaluating schools. Georgia also consistently sends players to the NFL draft, with top picks each year. Their ability to develop players stands out to me.”

Fort, who has family in Alabama, is drawn to the idea of competing in the SEC. He is likely to schedule more official visits but has hinted at the possibility of making a decision by the spring.

Fort is ranked as the No. 86 recruit in the country and the No. 8 safety in the class of 2026, per 247Sports.

Chicago Bears moving on from former Georgia RB

Former Georgia football running back is not being retained after the Chicago Bears’ latest coaching change

The Chicago Bears are moving on from their former interim coach Thomas Brown. The Bears elected to not retain Brown and several other coaches after hiring former Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson as their new  coach.

As Johnson builds his staff in Chicago, the offensive coordinator role should be an attractive job opening.

Brown has interviewed with the Seattle Seahawks for their offensive coordinator role. Brown, a former Georgia Bulldogs running back, served as Chicago’s interim coach after the Bears fired Matt Eberflus. Brown went 1-4.

As Brown seeks a new NFL coaching role, the Seahawks have a talented offense and would be a great landing place for Brown.

The Bears initially hired Brown as their passing game coordinator and promoted him to be their offensive coordinator after they fired offensive coordinator Shane Waldron. The Bears are coming off a disappointing offensive season despite having plenty of talent around No. 1 2024 NFL draft pick Caleb Williams.

Brown served as the Carolina Panthers’ offensive coordinator in 2023. He was the Panthers’ play-caller for a portion (primarily the second half of the season) of Carolina’s brutal 2-15 season.

Brown served as an offensive assistant with the Los Angeles Rams under Sean McVay before coming to Carolina and Chicago. He is highly respected in NFL circles. Brown rushed for 2,646 yards and 23 touchdowns in his Georgia career from 2004-2007.

Kirby Smart’s end of the year Coaches Poll ballot

How does Georgia coach Kirby Smart rank the best CFB teams in end of the year poll

Georgia Bulldogs football coach Kirby Smart ranked his team No. 4 in the final US LBM Coaches Poll, placing them ahead of two College Football Playoff semifinalists. According to ballots released by USA TODAY Sports, Smart ranked Georgia above No. 5 Texas and No. 6 Penn State.

Smart’s final poll differs from other coaches. In the final poll, Texas landed at No. 3 and Penn State finished at No. 5, which is contrary to Smart’s ballot.

The Bulldogs defeated Texas twice this season, including a victory in the SEC championship game in December. During the postgame trophy ceremony, Smart highlighted the challenges of Georgia’s demanding SEC schedule, which featured road games at Alabama, Texas, and Ole Miss.

Texas fell to Ohio State in the CFP semifinals, 28-14, while Penn State was edged out by Notre Dame, 27-24, in the other semifinal matchup.

Among SEC coaches, Missouri’s Eli Drinkwitz and Alabama’s Kalen DeBoerplaced Georgia at No. 5, Texas A&M’s Mike Elko, Vanderbilt’s Clark Lea and Kentucky’s Mark Stoops ranked UGA at No. 6. Georgia Tech’s Brent Key ranked Georgia at No. 5.

Nation’s No. 1 athlete visiting Georgia football

Nation’s top ranked athlete, five-star recruit schedules his first visit to Georgia football

Five-star athlete Brandon Arrington, a 6-foot, 180-pound standout from Mount Miguel High School in La Mesa, California, is a highly coveted blue-chip prospect. Bulldogs cornerbacks coach Donte Williams, a respected and well-connected figure on the West Coast, visited Arrington at his home Sunday night. The meeting went smoothly, and as a result, the No. 8 prospect in the 2026 On3 Industry Rankings has officially scheduled his first visit to Athens.

Arrington will be at Oregon this weekend. He is eyeing a visit to Nebraska or USC on Feb. 1. Texas A&M is a strong contender in the race as well. Georgia has entered this race and he is now ready to see Athens for the first time.

“Georgia is in the mix because they have a great program and they do very well with California athletes,” Arrington said to On3. “Me and coach Donte (Williams) have a great relationship too, so that is another reason I like Georgia.”

Georgia needs to land more elite athletes like Arrington.

Georgia’s sack leader declares for 2025 NFL draft

Another Georgia Bulldog pass rusher declares for the 2025 NFL draft.

Georgia Bulldogs senior linebacker Chaz Chambliss announced his declaration for the 2025 NFL draft via social media. Chambliss was out of eligibility, so this was more of a formality.

Chambliss was a four-star recruit when he committed to Georgia in 2021. He earned snaps his first two years as a reserve linebacker and special teamer, racking up 25 tackles and 2.5 sacks. He totaled three tackles in Georgia’s 2022 national championship victory over TCU.

Ever since 2023, he became a starting outside linebacker for the Dawgs. He earned 61 tackles and 6.5 sacks over the last two years.

All of those 6.5 sacks came in 2024, and he tied Jalon Walker for the most sacks on the team. As a result of his pass-rushing prowess, he earned a spot on the coaches All-SEC third team. UGA is losing over 70% of its sack production from 2024.

17 Georgia Bulldogs have already declared for the 2025 NFL draft, including linebackers Smael Mondon Jr. and Jalon Walker. 14 Bulldogs also entered the transfer portal, such as linebackers Damon Wilson and Troy Bowles. With CJ Allen being the only returning starter, Georgia will need more production from Raylen Wilson, Justin Williams, and Chris Cole.

Georgia football among top contenders for 4-star in-state RB

Four-star running back Carsyn Baker names Georgia football as a leading contender

One of the Georgia Bulldogs’ top running back recruiting targets is Carsyn Baker, a four-star running back out of Langston Hughes High School. Baker is a top 40 prospect in Georgia.

Georgia, Kentucky, Penn State, South Carolina and Texas A&M are at the top of his contender list thus far in his recruiting process.

His standout performance in the 2024 state championship helped keep the game interesting before Langston Hughes fell to Milton High School, 56-35. Baker rushed for 136 yards with three touchdowns on 15 carries. In the state championship, Baker showed his elite speed on a 70-yard touchdown run. He showed his balance and strength when he broke arm tackles.

In the race to land a commitment from Baker, South Carolina is a program to keep an eye on. The Gamecocks have gained momentum on the recruiting trail due to their strong finish in the second half of last season.

[lawrence-auto-related count=2]

Expect Georgia to be in the thick of things until the end of Baker’s recruitment. The 6-foot-1, 205-pound running back is ranked the No. 329 player in the class of 2026 and the No. 26 running back, per 247Sports. Baker is the No. 40 recruit in Georgia in the junior class.
