Where does 4-star OL commit Cayden Green rank among Oklahoma’s best OL recruits all-time?

Taking a look back at where 2023 four-star commit Cayden Green ranks among Sooners all-time according to the 247Sports composite ratings.

For years, the Oklahoma Sooners have been a hot spot for talented offensive linemen. With Bill Bedenbaugh leading the position, Oklahoma’s developed a reputation for putting together some of the best offensive lines in college football over the last decade.

And Bedenbaugh hopes to take this next crop of linemen and turn them into the next great Sooners’ offensive line.

The Oklahoma Sooners 2023 recruiting class got a jolt over the last week and a half, picking up six recruits (three along the offensive line) since June 27. Heath Ozaeta kicked off, but since they’ve added Cayden Green and Logan Howland to the mix.

Green was one of the more highly anticipated commitments for the Oklahoma Sooners and his pledge had social media buzzing. Green is a talented prospect that gives the Sooners a huge boost in their team recruiting ranking, which has risen to No. 13 in the wake of his commitment.

With Green’s commitment, let’s take a look at where he ranks among Oklahoma Sooners’ offensive linemen all-time in the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Sooners OL Tyrese Robinson the best UDFA fit for the Washington Commanders

Though he wasn’t drafted Sooners OL Tyrese Robinson is considered the best undrafted free agent fit for the Washington Commanders.

Getting drafted in the later rounds sometimes isn’t as great of an option as being able to pick where you want to play your professional football. Being a priority undrafted free agent isn’t all bad. And that’s the world that [autotag]Tyrese Robinson[/autotag] is living after going undrafted in the 2022 NFL draft.

Robinson signed a deal with the Washington Commanders and has a great shot to make the opening week roster out of training camp. With experience at guard and tackle and limited roster space in the NFL, Tyrese Robinson was chosen as the best undrafted free agent fit for the Washington Commanders by The Athletic’s Nick Baumgardner (Subscription required).

A three-year starter at Oklahoma with guard and tackle experience, Robinson is undersized (6-2, 317) and likely limited with where he can go in the NFL, but he plays with a lot of power and physicality. There are size and athletic limitations but he’s tough to move off his square. —  Nick Baumgardner, The Athletic

The former Sooners offensive lineman started for three seasons and played more than 2,400 snaps. After playing guard in 2019 and 2020, the Sooners took his experience and moved him out to right tackle in 2021.

His experience helped steady an offensive line that was working in two new starters after losing [autotag]Creed Humphrey[/autotag] and [autotag]Adrian Ealy[/autotag] to the NFL.

Positional flexibility is a great ability to have at the NFL level and it’ll be what helps Tyrese Robinson have a nice career even if he doesn’t become a full-time starter in the league.

Sooners OL Tyrese Robinson among Athlon Sports’ best undrafted players

The newly signed Washington Commander is among Athlon Sports’ best 2022 UDFAs

The University of Oklahoma sent several of its players to the NFL through the draft and free agency. Offensive lineman Tyrese Robinson was a priority undrafted free agent signing by the Washington Commanders very soon after the NFL draft concluded.

While Robinson isn’t the best OL prospect out there, he is getting a bit of buzz compared to fellow UDFAs.

Athlon Sports has Robinson on their first-team offense of 2022 UDFAs. Some other notable names on this list are Clemson’s Justyn Ross and Nevada’s Carson Strong.

Kennedy Brooks and Gabe Brkic can be found among the second-team offense and specialists.

Tyrese Robinson is a difficult prospect to get a beat on because he won’t be playing the same position in Washington. He played at right tackle in 2021 for OU and the Commanders will have him at guard, should he make the roster. His versatility to play multiple positions will give him a great shot to land on a 53-man roster come cut-down day.

Sooners OL Tyrese Robinson signs with Washington Commanders as UDFA

Oklahoma Sooners offensive lineman Tyrese Robinson signs with the Washington Commanders as an undrafted free agent.

The guy who had one the best names for Oklahoma Public Announcer Jim Miller to introduce in pregame at Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium is off to the nation’s capital. Tyrese Robinson has signed with the newly-named Washington Commanders.

Robinson didn’t generate much buzz as a draft prospect, and wasn’t rated highly among a crowded offensive line class. Washington came into the draft with a good but not great offensive line with incumbent starters at each position. However, you can never have enough depth and Robinson will be competing for one of those spots.

Robinson played 2021 out of position, as he played all season at right tackle when he should’ve been playing at guard.

Much like the rest of the Sooners’ O-Line, Robinson struggled without the presence of Creed Humphrey. He didn’t get much push past the line of scrimmage in the run game in 2021 at tackle.

As of now, the only other O-Line prospect the Commanders have brought in is Tulsa’s Chris Paul, who also plays guard. Washington took Paul in the seventh round with the 230th pick.

With Robinson and Marquis Hayes now on NFL teams, both of OU’s 2022 O-Line draft prospects have found homes at the next level.

Sooners to the NFL: Where did Oklahoma’s draft prospects end up after the 2022 NFL draft?

Where did each Oklahoma Sooners draft prospect end up after the 2022 NFL draft weekend?

The Oklahoma Sooners had seven players taken in the 2022 NFL draft. That was tied with Alabama for fifth-most draft picks in this year’s draft. Georgia led the way with 15 picks while the SEC continued its dominance of sending players to the draft. They had 17 more draft selections than the Big 10 and 40 more players picked than the Big 12.

The Sooners didn’t hear a name called in the first round, which wasn’t surprising based on the way the players were ranked or being selected in mock drafts leading up to this weekend.

It was a long wait but finally, with the last pick of the second round, Nik Bonitto came off the board to the Denver Broncos. That last pick of the second round also happens to be the same pick in which the Kansas City Chiefs selected Creed Humphrey the year before. Will Bonitto have a similar impact in his rookie season?

In total, 11 of the 12 Oklahoma Sooners prospects have found new teams. Seven draft picks and four as undrafted free agents. The only one left without a new home at the moment is Gabe Brkic. An NFL team will likely bring him in for a tryout in the next few weeks or during training camp to compete for a kicking job.

Let’s look at where each Sooner will be making their new home.

Where Oklahoma Sooners prospects rank heading into Day 3 of the 2022 NFL draft

After Nik Bonitto and Brian Asamoah were taken on Day 2, there are several Sooners still available for the final day of the 2022 NFL draft.

Heading into Day 3 of the 2022 NFL draft, several Sooners have yet to hear their name called. The only real surprise is Perrion Winfrey, who was projected to go in the top 100 picks by nearly every mock draft we’ve evaluated over the last four months.

Whoever takes the talented defensive line prospect is going to get a steal.

But the Sooners have several really good players remaining on the board that could impact teams in Year 1. [autotag]Isaiah Thomas[/autotag], [autotag]Kennedy Brooks[/autotag], [autotag]Marquis Hayes[/autotag] and [autotag]Delarrin Turner-Yell[/autotag] would provide solid depth and could develop into starters at the NFL level.

[autotag]Gabe Brkic[/autotag] could kick for a number of NFL teams, but kicker is one of those positions that doesn’t always get drafted. The same goes for [autotag]Jeremiah Hall[/autotag]. He could be a starting fullback in the NFL, but will teams value the position enough to spend a draft pick.

[autotag]Michael Woods[/autotag] and [autotag]Tyrese Robinson[/autotag] can help some teams, but they may have their choice of teams as undrafted free agents.

Let’s take a look at the remaining Oklahoma Sooners draft prospects, and how they ranked according to Dane Brugler, Matt Miller and Bleacher Report.

Where do Oklahoma NFL Draft prospects land in The Draft Wire’s top 300?

Take a look at where Oklahoma Sooners draft prospects rank in The Draft Wire’s Top 300 ahead of the 2022 NFL draft.

The 2022 NFL draft is just a couple of days away and the Oklahoma Sooners will be well-represented. Though none are expected to come off the board in the first round on Thursday night, expect to hear plenty of Sooners’ names called throughout the final two days of the draft.

The Draft Wire, part of USATODAY Sports released its top 300 player rankings ahead of the 2022 NFL draft and nine Oklahoma Sooners ranked inside the top 300. Led by Nik Bonitto at 47 overall, Oklahoma has three players inside the top 100.

You can also check out The Draft Wire’s positional rankings to see how Oklahoma Sooners stack up against the rest of the players heading into the draft.

Which Oklahoma Sooners made ESPN draft analyst Matt Miller’s top 300 for the 2022 NFL draft?

As the 2022 NFL Draft approaches ESPN Draft Analyst Matt Miller released his top 300 prospects with nine Oklahoma Sooners making the cut.

Draft season is about to come to a close when the 2022 NFL draft kicks off next Thursday night. The Oklahoma Sooners will be well-represented over the three day event with anywhere from six to 10 players getting their name called.

Over the last few weeks we’ve looked at where Dane Brugler of The Athletic has the Sooners draft prospects ranked in his draft guide “The Beast” and where they went in his full seven-round mock draft.

CBS Sports followed that up with their own seven-round mock draft and as many as seven Sooners were selected in each of the pre-draft projections.

It’s that time of year where teams and analysts finalize their big boards. What’s notable with Oklahoma prospects is the diversity of thought that’s come to pass on certain prospects. Others have seen a decline or rise in value. In particular it feels like Nik Bonitto and Perrion Winfrey have settled into a mid second to early third round picks.

Brian Asamoah and Isaiah Thomas on the other hand have a wide range of potential outcomes depending on how the draft falls.

Delarrin Turner-Yell looks to have made himself a draftable asset with his work in meetings with teams. His name continues to pop up in rankings and mock drafts. He might be a late-round selection, but he’ll get picked.

Today, we’re taking a look at ESPN draft analyst Matt Miller’s Top 300 prospects for the 2022 NFL draft. Nine Sooners were  ranked inside his top 300.

7 Oklahoma Sooners selected in CBS Sports 7 round mock draft

Led by Nik Bonitto to the Atlanta Falcons, 7 Oklahoma Sooners were selected in CBS Sports’ latest 32-team 7-round mock draft.

The 2022 NFL draft gets underway next Thursday night and draft analysts across the industry are getting in their final mock drafts. Last week, Dane Brugler of The Athletic provided a seven-round mock draft for all 32 teams, with seven Oklahoma Sooners selected in the draft.

This week, it’s Ryan Wilson of CBS Sports that takes a stab at projecting the seven rounds of the draft. Again, seven Oklahoma Sooners are selected in the mock draft.

What’s noticeable between the two mocks is that [autotag]Kennedy Brooks[/autotag] has been left out. A player who amassed three 1,000-yard seasons and averaged 7.0 yards per carry for his career doesn’t hear his name called. Sure, running back has been devalued by the NFL due to their longevity in the league, but he’s a player that should get drafted. He was too productive.

The player that was in Brugler’s mock that didn’t show up here is [autotag]Gabe Brkic[/autotag]. Kickers are always a mystery when it comes to the draft. Teams feel like they can get one in undrafted free agency. Teams typically prefer to use their late-round draft picks on players they don’t want to compete with in undrafted free agency.

The other surprise is that the first Oklahoma Sooner doesn’t come off the board until No. 74 overall, which is in the middle of the third round.

Let’s look at where each Oklahoma player is heading in this mock draft.

Oklahoma Sooners 2022 NFL Combine testing results

How did the Oklahoma Sooners perform at the NFL combine? Here are the results.

11 Oklahoma Sooners participated in the 2022 NFL Combine over the weekend. In addition to the testing that occurred, the annual scouting event in Indianapolis provided the first opportunity for players to meet with teams ahead of the NFL draft in late April.

Players didn’t participate in every event as most will wait for Oklahoma’s Pro Day on March 9th to do more on-field work or to test on the bench press.

The only player to take part in each of the combine’s on-field tests was Jeremiah Hall. Hall’s being viewed as a fullback at the next level and has a chance to hear his name called in the 2022 NFL draft because of his pass-catching prowess.

Kicker Gabe Brkic didn’t participate in any on-field testing, but a kicker doesn’t need to run fast or bench 225 a bunch of times to be a good kicker.

As Oklahoma gets set to host its pro day on Wednesday, here’s where 11 of the 12 NFL draft prospects stand.
