2023 NFL draft: Top targets at every position of need for the Browns

Who is an ideal prospect per position in the draft?

It has been a productive offseason with a solid free agency period and the 2023 NFL draft just a couple of weeks away for the Cleveland Browns and the rest of the NFL. Cleveland is in a solid place going into the draft without major glaring holes allowing them to truly target talent without forcing picks at certain positions.

But plenty of positions need depth and potential long-term answers after 2023. Though the team doesn’t have a first or second-round pick there is plenty of talent at positions of need that could provide long-term answers at positions that have none right now.

Panthers 2023 mock draft 7.0: We want the smoke edition

We’re following the smoke in our latest 2023 mock draft for the Carolina Panthers.

We’re now close enough to the 2023 NFL draft where the all the smoke could actually lead us to the fire. So, let’s follow it in our latest set of projections for the Carolina Panthers.

Here—inspired by some recent rumors, reports and speculation—is our seventh mock draft of the offseason.

Titans trade up for QB, take WR in Athlon Sports 3-round mock draft

The Titans trade up for a quarterback and late select a wide receiver in Athlon Sports’ three-round mock draft.

The Tennessee Titans address two major needs in a recent three-round mock draft from Luke Easterling of Athlon Sports.

Easterling’s mock has the Titans trading up to No. 3 overall in the first round to select Florida quarterback Anthony Richardson. In order to make the trade up, he has Tennessee giving up at least two firsts and a second-round pick.

The Cardinals have already fielded calls from a long list of teams wanting to move up to this pick, so which one can offer them the best deal? Not only could the Titans offer multiple early draft picks (at least a second-rounder this year and first-rounder next year, likely more), but including Derrick Henry might also entice an Arizona team trying to build around Kyler Murray.

If the Titans make this move, Richardson would be the likely target, giving them a high-upside quarterback prospect to develop behind Ryan Tannehill. It’ll take a little patience, but Richardson has rare traits that could make him a superstar at the next level.

With Tennessee’s second pick, which now comes in the third round after the aforementioned trade, Easterling pegs Cincinnati wide receiver Tyler Scott for the Titans.

While I love the pick of Scott, who would add some much-needed speed and explosiveness to Tennessee’s lackluster corps., I continue to doubt the Titans will make an expensive trade up for a quarterback who is slated to be a project at the next level.

Instead, barring C.J. Stroud or Bryce Young unexpectedly falling to No. 3, look for Tennessee to either stay put or trade back in the first round.

2023 NFL Draft: Tyler Scott scouting report

Scott brings a lot of speed and big-play potential

A former track star who has the speed to scare defenses, Cincinnati wide receiver Tyler Scott will look to bring his deep ball skills to the next level as he enters the 2023 NFL draft.

Here is everything you need to know about the Bearcats’ speedster:

1 WR prospect for Colts in each round of NFL draft

Taking a look at the best WR prospect for the Colts in each round of the NFL draft.

The Indianapolis Colts are just over two weeks away from the start of the 2023 NFL draft where they’ll be looking to add talent and depth to the roster.

While all of the talk has been surrounding the quarterback position this offseason, the Colts have a need to add talent to the wide receiver position as well.

They saw Parris Campbell sign a one-year deal with the New York Giants in free agency, and they replaced him with free agent Isaiah McKenzie. The Colts also brought back Ashton Dulin on a two-year deal.

Still, the Colts could use some depth, competition and upside at the WR3 position. With Michael Pittman Jr. and Alec Pierce on the outside, a vertical threat from the slot would be an ideal addition.

We’ll be tracking the Colts’ reported interest in the 2023 draft class so be sure to keep up with latest updates via our tracker.

Here’s a look at one wide receiver prospect who fits the Colts in each round of the draft:

Browns land OT Matthew Bergeron, WR Tyler Scott in 2023 NFL Draft mock

This one is a bit unorthodox from what we have seen…

Mock drafts are in excess as the 2023 NFL Draft is now just three weeks away. And in a recent one completed by Draft Wire, the Cleveland Browns went in an unorthodox direction. Most mock drafts have the Browns selecting a defensive tackle, defensive end, or wide receiver with the 74th overall pick. Still, this one has them selecting an offensive tackle in the form of Syracuse’s Matthew Bergeron. They then return on the clock at 98 and take Cincinnati wide receiver, Tyler Scott.

The Browns have both of their offensive tackles under contract through 2024 as they are expected to pick up the fifth-year option of Jedrick Wills. Right tackle Jack Conklin was re-signed on essentially a two-year deal (guaranteed money on the four-year deal runs out after two) this season as well. The 2023 NFL Draft may be a bit too early to address this position.

Scott has the talent to go top-50 in a couple of weeks, but his average draft position is sitting at 72 right now according to Grinding the Mocks. Landing him at 98 would be highway robbery.

Top offensive players for the Browns in the 2023 NFL Draft

Who on the offensive side of the ball should be on the Browns’ radar?

The offense of the Cleveland Browns has improved so far this offseason especially after adding wide receiver Elijah Moore in a trade with the Jets. The team continued to add speed by signing veteran Marquise Goodwin and adding athletic backup tight end Jordan Akins from the Texans. And now we are inching closer to the 2023 NFL Draft.

There is still room for improvement and an offense can never have enough young playmakers and depth pieces in the NFL. The Browns have questions behind Nick Chubb with Kareem Hunt set to leave town as well as some questions about the future of the offensive line at the guard position.

Let’s take a look at some players the Browns should target in this month’s draft.

Colts’ 7-round mock draft with trades

In this mock draft, the Colts make a few trades early on.

The Indianapolis Colts are less than a month away from the start of the 2023 NFL draft, which means there is going to be a lot of information and projections coming out of the woodwork over the next few weeks.

That includes conducting mock drafts and projecting what the Colts will do with their nine selections. We should expect a number of trades as general manager Chris Ballard has never gone through a draft without making a deal in some capacity.

We’ll be tracking the Colts’ reported interest in the 2023 draft class so be sure to keep up with latest updates via our tracker.

Here’s our latest mock draft projection for the Colts, included with a few trades:

Colts showing ‘significant interest’ in WR Tyler Scott

The Colts have reportedly shown significant interest in Cincinnati WR Tyler Scott.

The Indianapolis Colts reportedly have been among the teams showing significant interest in Cincinnati wide receiver Tyler Scott ahead of the 2023 NFL draft.

With a need to fill the WR3 role behind Michael Pittman Jr. and Alec Pierce, there’s a good chance the Colts use the draft to aid that effort. Scott profiles as a wide receiver who would fit well within Shane Steichen’s scheme.

The Athletic’s Justin Williams reported in an article that the Colts were among the teams showing interest in the speedster.

Scott said he has spoken to just about all 32 teams in the NFL and has generally heard Round 2 or early Round 3 as a likely draft spot, with the Colts, Giants, Titans and Bears showing significant interest.

Though he’s a bit undersized at 5-foot-10 and 177 pounds, Scott brings speed and explosiveness speed to the field. He was clocked in at a 4.44 in the 40-yard dash along with a 39.5-inch vertical and 11-foot broad jump. Those traits play well for a vertical slot receiver.

His college stats don’t jump off the page even with his breakout campaign coming as a junior in 2022. He recorded 54 receptions for 899 yards and nine touchdowns.

He also has a knack for playing special teams, which is significant considering he spent time with new Colts special teams coordinator Brian Mason during his stint at Cincinnati.

The Colts need to add to the wide receiver room during the draft, and Scott profiles as a potential Day 2 pick who could carve out a significant role in Steichen’s offense.

We’ll be tracking the Colts’ reported interest in the 2023 draft class so be sure to keep up with latest updates via our tracker.

Browns: 4 prospects worth trading up for in the 2023 NFL Draft

The Browns may be interested in trading up if one of these four prospects slips down the board.

Two years ago, the Cleveland Browns made a draft day trade to move up and select Notre Dame linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah. While general manager Andrew Berry is a savant at trading down and stockpiling assets, he has proven he is not afraid to make a move up the board if the player and the opportunity present itself. As the 2023 NFL Draft approaches, are there players in this year’s draft that could light a sense of urgency under Berry to make another move up the board? Could it be another linebacker like Iowa’s Jack Campbell?

The Browns have six day-three picks, and there is little chance they select that many players that late in the draft. This puts them in a position to have ammunition to make a trade if the right player is on the board.

Here are four players whose draft stock is all over the map and may just find themselves in a position for the Browns to make a move up the board.
