Notre Dame still Zooming, meet with star offensive tackle virtually

The Irish are still using virtual visits to their advantage

Even though the NCAA is seemingly trending towards ending the dead period after it’s latest extension to May 31st, the Notre Dame coaching staff still is full steam with virtual visits. A big one happened yesterday as 2022 Connecticut native Tyler Booker checked in via Zoom with the Irish coaches.

Booker currently plays for IMG Academy, which has more than a few Notre Dame targets prepping there. He’s seen as a lineman that could play on the defensive line, but has more upside on the offensive line.

His recruitment should be seen as a very tough battle, as Booker holds offers from the SEC powers (Alabama, LSU, Georgia and Florida) the Big Ten’s (Penn State, Ohio State, and Michigan) along with Oklahoma, Texas, Oregon, USC and a host of others schools vying for his commitment.

Although getting Booker to virtually visit with the Notre Dame staff is a step in the right direction, the next step would be to lock him into scheduling an official visit. If he does just that, then the Irish are squarely in the mix for Booker’s signature.

This four-star offensive tackle is set to visit Florida in June

A four-star offensive tackle in the 2022 recruiting class has officially announced his dates for when he will take a visit to Florida.

Things are starting to heat up in terms of the 2022 recruiting cycle for college football, just a few months after the 2021 class wrapped up. With Florida not turning in a top 10 class for the cycle, 2022 now becomes an important one for Dan Mullen and his staff.

On Tuesday, the Gators took a step forward in their pursuit of a big target and top 50 recruit. Four-star offensive tackle Tyler Booker revealed on Twitter that he will visit Florida’s campus June 4-6. This is significant and depends on whether or not the NCAA lifts the current ban on recruiting travel.

According to a report on Monday, the NCAA committee is recommending that the dead period ends in late May. If that’s the case, it would allow a player like Booker to visit campus.

The 6-foot-4-inch 315-pound Booker is ranked No. 43 overall, the No. 4 offensive tackle and the No. 7 player in the state of Florida per the 247Sports recruiting rankings. He has a total of 30 offers including from some big programs such as Notre Dame, Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Auburn and Penn State in addition to Florida.

OT Recruit Chase Bisontis Latest to Get Offer From Notre Dame

Jeff Quinn continues to be on the move to build Notre Dame’s offensive line for the future.

Jeff Quinn continues to be on the move to build Notre Dame’s offensive line for the future. This week, we’ve already seen an offer for Tyler Booker from Florida. Now, we have one from Chase Bisontis, an offensive tackle from Ramsey, New Jersey, who just completed his sophomore season at Don Bosco Prep and weighs in at 6-foot-5, 275 pounds. This could amount to a couple of solid gets from Quinn in the same recruiting class.

Bisontis has lured offers from 19 schools thus far. Among those vying for his services in a couple of years are Florida State, Michigan State, Michigan, Ohio State, Arkansas and West Virginia. Brian Dohn of 247Sports projects him as a starter with an elite Power Five program. Based on the programs already looking at him when he’s not even a high school upperclassman yet, that’s sure to become a reality, and we naturally hope he’ll pick the Irish.

Offensive Tackle Recruit Tyler Booker Receives Offer From Notre Dame

Notre Dame had a strong offensive line during the past season, and it’s making an effort to replenish that unit.

Notre Dame had a strong offensive line during the past season, and it’s making an effort to replenish that unit. Its latest to do so comes in the form of offensive tackle Tyler Booker, a junior at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. Booker weighs in at 6-foot-5, 315 pounds, which could easily fill the void left by Tommy Kraemer in a couple of years.

Rivals believes Florida is the odds-on favorite to land the hometown product. Still, seemingly everyone is interested in Booker as he now has received offers from 32 of the 33 schools that have expressed interest. Among the more prominent programs expressing real interest are Georgia, Penn State, Texas, Alabama, Miami, Ohio State and LSU. The only certain thing is that plenty of playing time will await whichever school he chooses.

Booker also is the nephew of former Pittsburgh Steelers offensive tackle Ulish Booker, so it’s almost a given that he has playing prospects beyond college. That’s why everyone wants to land him so badly.

The latest recruiting prospect to receive an offer? 2022 defensive tackle Tyler Booker out of IMG Academy, one of the top prep schools in the country for high school football.

The 6’4″, 290 pound Booker has scholarship offers from some of the top programs in the country like Florida, Georgia, LSU, and Michigan. Tucker, who has been known as a strong recruiter from his days at Ohio State, Alabama, and Georgia, clearly has no fear of going up against some of the big boys when sending out his scholarship offers. It’ll be interesting to see if Tucker can swing a couple big-name recruits away from some of the highest-profile teams in the SEC and Big Ten.

Here is Booker’s announcement of the offer, which he revealed on Twitter:
