Alabama extends offer to 2024 SF from Connecticut

Alabama’s coaching staff extended an offer to 2024 small forward Tyler Betsey on Sunday.

Alabama’s coaching staff extended an offer to 2024 small forward Tyler Betsey on Sunday. Betsey confirmed the news via his Twitter. He is the fifth small forward that the Tide has offered thus far in the 2024 recruiting class.

Betsey is listed at 6-foot-8, 175 pounds, according to 247Sports. He currently attends in Windsor, Connecticut. Although he isn’t ranked among a few recruiting sites, he still has received several offers heading into his junior season. Some programs that have offered Betsey so far are Connecticut, Iona, Iowa, Nebraska and Rutgers.

Betsey is ranked as the No. 75 player in the nation, according to On3’s Rankings. Alabama fits his playing style and would be a nice fit. In an interview with On3’s Jamie Shaw, here is what Betsey said about how much location played a factor in his decision:

“Location won’t really be a factor for me in my decision. I do want to play fast, get up and down and shoot the ball. I also want to play man defense.”

Head coach Nate Oats likes for his players to get out in transition and create easy baskets. Betsey possesses great size and enough athleticism to see the floor early and often. It will be interesting to see how Betsey performs during his junior season and how his recruitment unfolds.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow Betsey’s recruitment as well as other Alabama basketball targets.

Rutgers basketball offers Tyler Betsey

Rutgers basketball offers a bigtime prospect in Tyler Betsey.

On Thursday, Rutgers basketball officially got involved with Tyler Betsey, sending an offer out to the class of 2024 wide receiver. It has certainly been a busy month for Betsey, who has seen his recruitment blow up.

Betsey is a 6-foot-8 small forward at Windsor (Windsor, CT). He plays his AAU basketball for the famed New York Rens program.

Coming into this week, he held offers from Iona, Iowa, Nebraska and TCU among others. Rutgers is his latest offer.

Betsey tweeted about the offer on Thursday night. Pittsburgh and Syracuse also offered in July.

Rutgers recently offered Qin Pang, who also plays for the New York Rens. Pang talked with RutgersWire about the offer from the Scarlet Knights:

“Coach Steve and Brandin spoke to my guardian Tracy about the offer. When he told me the offer I was so excited about that,” Pang told RutgersWire on July 12.

“They didn’t talk about that too much, the coach said they loved my game. Keep it up, and they said they followed me for a while. I think there’s more talk in the near future.”

Rutgers is recruiting Connecticut hard. In the class of 2023, the Scarlet Knights landed four-star Gavin Griffiths, a four-star forward and one of the top players in Connecticut in this recruiting cycle.

Griffiths is a consensus top-50 player in the nation and the top-ranked recruit landed by head coach Steve Pikiell.

This past season, Rutgers finished 18-14 and made consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances for the first time since 1976.
