Ravens WR Diontae Johnson wants to complain so let Tylan Wallace work

While Baltimore Ravens WR Diontae Johnson act unseemly, WR Tylan Wallace has already proven himself to be an asset on offense.

Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Diontae Johnson might think he’s cooler than the other side of the pillow, but the team won’t lose sleep in his absence.

Instead, the Ravens should be focused on developing rookie wide receiver Devontez Walker and playing reserve Tylan Wallace more frequently.

Offensive Coordinator Todd Monken has had both Walker and Wallace operating in reps with the starters, yet Walker hasn’t played much throughout the season. Could that change in the upcoming weeks?

Wallace had a big play against the Cincinnati Bengals on Nov. 7 and may be an adequate target for quarterback Lamar Jackson on underneath throws. Walker, on the other hand, is more sizable and may work to take the top of the defense off on vertical route concepts.

Johnson was never needed, yet the Ravens have become too idealistic in their approach, assuming that Johnson was humble enough to be moderately used. Instead, Johnson’s gesture indicates that he might not have been the player the Ravens needed when they acquired him.

Hopefully, the Ravens will return to using 12 and 21 personnel packages more frequently on offense. Instead of saturating the field with three wide receiver sets, Monken should focus on using tight-ends Mark Andrews and Isaiah Likely, coupling them with two wide receiver sets that will force defenses to play more man coverage.

Ultimately, Walker and Wallace have just as much talent as Johnson, and it’s time for the Ravens’ coaching staff to get out of their way.

Ravens fall to 7-4 as offense sputters in 18-16 loss to Steelers in Week 11

Lamar Jackson will have to wait a few weeks to get that much-needed win over the Steelers after the Ravens sputtered in neutral for most of the afternoon in an 18-16 loss to Pittsburgh at Acrisure Stadium.

The NFL’s No. 1 ranked quarterback in QBR, Jackson was 16-33 passing for 207 yards (6.3 avg), one touchdown, one interception, and a 66.1 rating, the lowest of this season.

Jackson had four carries for 46 yards, while Derrick Henry was held to 65 yards (5.0 avg) on 13 carries and one rushing touchdown, tying the single-season franchise record for touchdowns.

Zach Orr’s maligned defense held Pittsburgh to 4-16 on third downs and 303 total yards, but Pittsburgh held the football for 36:22, compared to Baltimore’s 23:38.

The Steelers held the Ravens ‘ top-ranked offense to 329 yards and just 124 yards rushing. Justin Tucker’s two missed field goals will further magnify the two-point loss. On the day, Tucker was 1-3 on field goal attempts, while Steelers kicker Chris Boswell was a perfect 6-6, including a 57-yard field goal.

Baltimore will quickly regroup before a massive Monday night matchup against Jim Harbaugh and the 6-3 Los Angeles Chargers.

Tylan Wallace performed like Thursday night at Oklahoma State, earning All-American and All-Big-12 honors for the Cowboys.

In a game reminiscent of his college days, Wallace and Ja’Marr Chase traded highlight plays as the Baltimore Ravens held on for a 35-34 win on Amazon Prime’s Thursday Night Football.

Who is Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Tylan Wallace?

Tylan Wallace had a career game for the Ravens against the Bengals

Wait long enough and your time will come … especially if Lamar Jackson is your quarterback.

Tylan Wallace caught three passes for 115 yards on Thursday, one an 84-yard touchdown play.

Wallace was a fourth-round pick out of Oklahoma State by Baltimore in 2021.

His entire contribution in receiving coming into the AFC North game with the Cincinnati Bengals was nine receptions for 98 yards coming into Week 10.

The 5-foot-11, 202-pound Wallace had two catches for 31 yards before Thursday night.

At Oklahoma State, Wallace had 3,434 receiving yards. He had 1,491 in 2018 and 922 in 2021.

Justin Tucker misses PAT after Ravens’ 84-yard touchdown play

The Ravens got a long touchdown play in the fourth quarter

The Baltimore Ravens rallied in the second half against the Cincinnati Bengals.

They trailed 21-7 before a Derrick Henry touchdown run.

Then, Lamar Jackson threw a short pass to Tylan Wallace. The fourth-round pick out of Oklahoma State in 2021 did the rest.

He tight-roped down the sideline, somehow staying inbounds.

The 84-yard play brought the Ravens within 21-20.

The joy was tempered because Justin Tucker missed the PAT and that left Baltimore down a point.

Ravens reveal uniform combination for huge road matchup against the Cowboys

The Ravens are headed to Dallas for a huge Sunday afternoon matchup at AT&T Stadium, and thanks to the Cowobys’ uniform tradition, Baltimore is breaking out the home look.

Dallas wears road white at home, which allows the Ravens to wear their Purple Reign alternate uniforms.

The Ravens’ all-time record against the Cowboys is 5-1, and the teams last met in the 2020 season.

In that game, quarterback Lamar Jackson ran for 94 yards and a touchdown as the focal point of a relentless rushing attack that amassed 294 yards, and Baltimore withstood a COVID-19 outbreak to beat the Dallas Cowboys 34-17 on a Tuesday night.

Ravens HC John Harbaugh conveys Tylan Wallace’s potential roles this season

Barring a rash of injuries, Tylan Wallace is not going to be a huge part of what the Ravens do on offense this season.

When you’re near the bottom of the depth chart, your best opportunities for consistent playing time often come in the game’s third phase.

Tylan Wallace has made the Baltimore Ravens roster as the fifth or sixth wide receiver. Barring a rash of injuries, he won’t be a massive part of what the Ravens do on offense this season.

However, he could play a big part on special teams. You could expect him to be a part of the “hands team,” although he won’t be the featured kick returner, he should be involved in the return team.

“I think Tylan’s going to get opportunities everywhere- offense and special teams,” Coach John Harbaugh said after practice on Friday.

“He’s looked good, had a couple nice plays out there today, like he does really everyday- looking forward to seeing how he does this year.”

Wallace has undoubtedly established himself as “a gamer,” or a “guy who does things that don’t show up in the stat sheet.”

Obviously, These are cliches and describe players known more for their effort than talent or ability, but they are a key part of any football team.

Ravens QB Josh Johnson connects with Tylan Wallace for 48-yard TD pass vs. Packers

Tylan Wallace has a great shot at making the Ravens 53-man roster on Tuesday and made his case for offensive snaps in the first half against the Packers.

With Baltimore struggling on offense, Wallace took a dig route across the middle from Josh Johnson and sprinted 48 yards for a touchdown.

Wallace had a 31-yard reception in the Week 2 preseason matchup against Atlanta, and he’ll likely earn the fourth or fifth wide receiver spot behind Nelson Agholor, Rashod Bateman, and potentially Deonte Harty.

The slow development of rookie wide receiver Devontez Walker has also bolstered Wallace’s roster chances.

Ravens WR Tylan Wallace is making a strong case to earn a roster spot

Tylan Wallace has also been stacking practices this preseason. By all accounts, he had a really nice training camp

Tylan Wallace is looking like he’ll lock down a spot on the 53-man roster. The Oklahoma State alum has a great chance of ultimately slotting in at WR6 on the Baltimore Ravens depth chart.

And he certainly helped his chances with this brilliant 31-yd reception in the 13-12 preseason win over the Atlanta Falcons on Saturday.

Wallace has also been stacking practices this preseason.

By all accounts, he had a really nice training camp, and he told a local radio reporter that his augmented game is largely due to his taking an improved approach to his nutrition.

Most nutritionists will tell you that- what kind of physical shape you’re in is determined 80-90% diet, and 10-20% exercise.

Perhaps Wallace will have an expanded role come the regular season?
