Minnesota Twins at Chicago White Sox odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Minnesota Twins at Chicago White Sox odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Minnesota Twins (76-70) and Chicago White Sox (56-90) open a 4-game set Thursday at Guaranteed Rate Field. First pitch is scheduled for 7:40 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Twins vs. White Sox odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Twins lead 6-3

The Twins lost 5-4 as +107 home underdogs vs. the Tampa Bay Rays as the Over (8.5) cashed Wednesday. Minnesota has lost 3 of its last 4 games but still owns a 7½-game lead over the 2nd-place Cleveland Guardians in the AL Central.

The White Sox lost 7-1 as -148 home favorites vs. the Kansas City Royals as the Under (9.5) hit Wednesday. The White Sox have lost 4 of their last 5 games and have been eliminated from the postseason.

Twins at White Sox projected starters

RHP Kenta Maeda vs. RHP José Ureña

Maeda (4-7, 4.65 ERA) makes his 19th start. He has a 1.26 WHIP, 2.4 BB/9 and 9.7 K/9 in 89 innings.

  • Last start: Win, 5 1/3 IP, 2 ER, 5 H, 1 BB, 2 K in 8-4 home victory vs. New York Mets Saturday
  • 2023 road stats: 1-5, 3.42 ERA (47 1/3 IP, 18 ER) in 10 starts
  • Career vs. White Sox: 2-2, 5.58 ERA (30 2/3 IP, 19 ER) in 6 starts

Ureña (0-5, 8.46 ERA) makes his 7th start. He has a 2.10 WHIP, 6.4 BB/9 and 4.8 K/9 in 22 1/3 innings with the White Sox and Colorado Rockies.

  • Last start: Loss, 4 IP, 1 ER, 4 H, 2 BB, 3 K in 3-1 loss at Detroit Tigers Saturday

Twins at White Sox picks and predictions

Prediction

Twins 4, White Sox 3

Moneyline

The Twins (-190) should beat the White Sox for the 5th straight time, especially with Ureña on the mound for Chicago. However, the price on Twins (-190) moneyline is too high.

PASS. Bet the run line and/or the total instead.

Run line/Against the spread

Ureña has struggled the last 2 seasons and will probably allow multiple runs on Thursday, but I would be more uncomfortable betting the Twins to win a road game by 2 or more runs. Minnesota is barely above .500 as a road favorite this season (18-17 straight up) and is just 15-20 on the run line, according to TeamRankings.com.

While betting on Ureña has not been profitable this season, he did look good last time out in his 1st start with the White Sox.

BET WHITE SOX +1.5 (+100).

Over/Under

The Under is 22-16-2 (57.9%) when the White Sox are home underdogs this season. Ureña gave up just 1 earned run last time out, and Maeda has allowed 2 or fewer earned runs in 11 of his 18 starts this season.

BET UNDER 9 (-105).

Minnesota Twins at Chicago White Sox odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Minnesota Twins at Chicago White Sox odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Minnesota Twins (17-13) and Chicago White Sox (9-21) play the middle game of a 3-game set at Guaranteed Rate Field Wednesday. First pitch is at 7:10 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Twins vs. White Sox odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Tied 2-2

The Twins fell 3-2 in 10 innings Tuesday night, wasting an awesome performance from RHP Joe Ryan, who allowed 1 hit and struck out 7 over 6 scoreless innings. The Twins managed just 3 hits in the game and are 6-4 over their last 10 games and 7-7 away from Target Field on the season.

White Sox OF Andrew Benintendi robbed a homer to save the game and then hit a walk-off single in the 10th to end it. RHP Michael Kopech was solid, aside from 5 BB, as he allowed 1 ER on 1 H with 7 K. Things won’t get any easier for the Twins Wednesday with White Sox ace RHP Dylan Cease pitching.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3012″ ]

Twins at White Sox projected starters

RHP Louie Varland vs. RHP Dylan Cease

Varland (0-0, 4.50 ERA) makes his 2nd start. He has a 1.17 WHIP, 1.5 BB/9 and 12.0 K/9 through 6 IP.

  • Tossed a career-high 8 K in his season debut on April 14 at the New York Yankees
  • 2 career starts vs. White Sox: 10 IP, 2 ER, 7 H, 2 BB and 8 K

Cease (2-1, 4.15 ERA) makes his 7th start. He has a 1.39 WHIP, 4.5 BB/9 and 11.0 K/9 through 30 1/3 IP.

  • Melted down in one of his worst career starts last time out against the Tampa Bay Rays Thursday: 6 ER on 9 H, 2 BB and 3 K in 4 IP
  • Last 5 starts vs. Twins: 3-2, 2.87 ERA and 34 K in 31 1/3 IP

Twins at White Sox picks and predictions

Prediction

White Sox 4, Twins 3

Moneyline

The White Sox have won 2 in a row after dropping 8 straight. They’re 2-2 against the AL Central, 2-11 against the AL East and 5-8 against everyone else. If Cease can limit the walks, he’ll be determined to put his bad last start to rest.

Take the WHITE SOX (-125).

Run line/Against the spread

Chicago is 12-18 on the RL and 5-9 straight up at home this year. Minnesota is 17-13 and 8-6 on the road. That’s the side I would lean — but we’re not going to pay -190.

I thought about going for Cease K’s here, but he has topped out at 5 K’s in his last 3 starts and it’s too volatile to handicap.

PASS.

Play our free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under

It’s a chilly 47 degrees with a 10-mph breeze coming in from left-center field. The last 3 meetings between these sides have been Under results, and the last 4 games had 7 or fewer runs. Minnesota is 14th with 4.56 runs/9, and Chicago is 22nd with 4.15 runs/9.

Those factors with Cease on the hill make me LEAN UNDER 7.5 (+100).

Ryan (5-0, 2.81 ERA) is tabbed for his 6th start. He owns a 0.81 WHIP, 1.1 BB/9 and 10.1 K/9 through 32 IP.

  • Has given the Twins at least 6 IP in every outing this season
  • Has allowed just 1 BB and 2  HR over his last 20 IP

Twins at White Sox picks and predictions

Prediction

Twins 5, White Sox 4

Moneyline

There is a little fade-Ryan, play-Kopech to the numbers, but Ryan is still the superior pitcher and the Twins are a worthy favorite. However, scheduling plays quite a bit into the prognosis for this one.

Not only has Minnesota played the easier slate in terms of opponent wins and losses, but the Twins have faced lesser hitting and lesser pitching than the White Sox have. In terms of runs and runs allowed, the Twins are deserving of some more diminished numbers. The opposite holds true for the White Sox, which for example, have played the league’s top offense (Tampa Bay Rays, 6.72 runs per game) twice and have yet to play a team scoring below the MLB average.

Figure more leverage on the Run Line unless you can get a Chicago price of +145 or better. PASS.

Run line/Against the spread

All 3 games between these clubs were close when they met in Minneapolis April 10-12, with 2 outings finishing with a 1-run margin and the other game finishing with a 2-run buffer.

BACK THE WHITE SOX +1.5 (-120).

Play our free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under

There is ample ammunition for claims both above and below this total, so it’s a PASS.

Minnesota Twins at Chicago White Sox odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Minnesota Twins at Chicago White Sox odds and lines, with MLB expert picks and predictions.

The Minnesota Twins (67-64) try to salvage a game against the Chicago White Sox (67-66) Sunday in the finale of a 3-game set at Guaranteed Rate Field. First pitch is set for 2:10 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Twins vs. White Sox odds with MLB picks and predictions.

Season series: Tied 6-6

The Twins got worked over 13-0 Saturday as they were only able to muster 1 hit. They have lost 3 in a row after having a 5-game win streak. They still remain 1 game out in the AL Central, but now the White Sox are on their tails as well, just 1 game back.

The White Sox got a gem from RHP Dylan Cease Saturday, who took a no-hitter into the 9th inning. The ChiSox are now 4-0 since it was announced Wednesday that manager Tony La Russa was out indefinitely due to a medical issue. Whether this run is in spirit of him or in spite has yet to be determined.

Twins at White Sox projected starters

RHP Dylan Bundy vs. RHP Lucas Giolito

Bundy (7-6, 4.53 ERA) makes his 24th start. He has a 1.24 WHIP, 1.9 BB/9 and 6.4 K/9 in 113 1/3 IP.

  • In 3 starts vs. White Sox this year: 15 1/3 IP, 12 H, 4 ER, 2 BB, 13 K
  • Has a 3.10 ERA in his last 6 starts
  • Bad road splits: 5.66 ERA, 1.35 WHIP vs. 2.80 ERA, 1.09 WHIP at home

Giolito (10-8, 5.27 ERA) makes his 25th start. He has a 1.50 WHIP, 3.4 BB/9 and 10.0 K/9 in 128 IP.

  • April 24 vs. Twins: 4 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 3 BB, 9 K
  • Has given up 4 ER or more in 3 of his  last 4 starts

Twins at White Sox picks and predictions

Prediction

Twins, 6, White Sox 4

Money line

The Twins are at a solid price in a game they really shouldn’t be such underdogs for. Giolito has the stuff to be among the best in baseball, but he has been out of sorts all year. His 48 walks in 128 IP is close to eclipsing the 52 he had in 178 2/3 IP last year. Plus, he’s been bad at home. The Twins take advantage Sunday. Go with the TWINS +115.

Run line/Against the spread

What happens the day after a team gets no-hit or nearly no-hit? They usually come back mashing the following day, and Giolito’s home splits supports that hypothesis. This is playoff-caliber baseball, and the Twins can’t afford to get swept. Let’s take a chance and go with the TWINS ALTERNATE SPREAD -1.5 (+190).

Over/Under

The Twins are 6-3-1 O/U in the last 10. That’s good for a team you don’t really consider to be potent offensively. There’s a 9-mph breeze going to the right-field foul pole. Lefties might have issues with that Sunday. Eight runs seems pretty reasonable. Take the OVER 7.5 (-125).

Minnesota Twins at Chicago White Sox odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Minnesota Twins at Chicago White Sox odds and lines, with MLB expert picks and predictions.

The Minnesota Twins (67-62) visit the Chicago White Sox (65-66) to start a 3-game series Friday at Guaranteed Rate Field. First pitch is 8:10 pm. Let’s analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Twins vs. White Sox odds with MLB picks and predictions.

Season series: Twins lead 6-4

The AL Central is one of the tightest divisions in baseball. The Twins are 1 game back of the Cleveland Guardians and every game counts. They had a near-perfect homestand, sweeping the San Fransisco Giants last weekend and taking 2-of-3 games from the Boston Red Sox to start the week.

The White Sox are 4 games back of the Guardians and have been fading recently. However, they have won their last 2 games with bench coach Miguel Cairo covering for manager Tony La Russa, who is out indefinitely with a medical issue.

Twins at White Sox projected starters

RHP Sonny Gray vs. RHP Davis Martin

Gray (7-4, 3.04 ERA) makes his 21st start. He has a 1.11 WHIP, 2.9 BB/9 and 8.9 K/9 through 100 2/3 IP.

  • Has received an average of 5.8 run support per start
  • Was only credited with 1 win despite a 2.03 ERA through 5 starts in August

Martin (2-4, 4.62 ERA) makes his 6th start and 10th appearance. He has a 1.31 WHIP, 3.2 BB/9 and 6.5 K/9 through 39 IP.

  • Had a 4.15 ERA but a .219 opponent batting average across 2 starts in August
  • Last start: 3 IP, 3 ER, 4 H, 4 BB and 2 K in a loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks Saturday

Twins at White Sox nickname picks and predictions

Prediction

White Sox 6, Twins 4

Money line

Martin is a boom or bust pitcher. He has a 0.82 ERA, 6 H, and 1 BB across 11 IP in his 2 wins. He posts a 5.59 ERA, 22 H and 10 BB through 19 1/3 IP in his 4 losses.

I’m taking the WHITE SOX (+105) expecting a strong start from Martin, as the Twins have struggled away from home. While they have won 5 of their last 6 contests overall, they’ve all been home games. Now they go on the road where they are winless in their last 5 outings.

The Twins are also 4-10 in their last 14 games in Chicago.

Run line/Against the spread

The Twins cover just 42% of the time as road favorites. They cover at an MLB-worst 21% after a single day off.

If the Chicago money line is too risky for you then TAKE THE WHITE SOX +1.5 (-155).

Over/Under

Their latest head-to-head trends point towards the Over. It’s hit 6 times in the last 9 meetings between these sides and it’s 4-0-2 in the last 6 meetings at Guaranteed Rate Field.

LEAN OVER 8.5 (-105).

Minnesota Twins at Chicago White Sox odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s Minnesota Twins at Chicago White Sox odds and lines, with MLB expert picks and predictions.

The Chicago White Sox (38-40) host the Minnesota Twins (46-37) Tuesday at Guaranteed Rate Field for the 2nd of their 3-game series. First pitch is set for 8:10 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Twins vs. White Sox odds with MLB picks and predictions.

Minnesota won the Monday’s series opener 6-3 in 10 innings that featured a 2-run home run by Twins CF Byron Buxton and a first-ever 8-5 triple play in the bottom of the 7th inning started by Buxton.

The Twins lead the season series 4-0 with a plus-13 run differential on the White Sox in those meetings.

Twins at White Sox projected starters

RHP Chris Archer vs. RHP Michael Kopech

Archer is 2-3 with a 3.08 ERA, 1.26 WHIP, 4.4 BB/9 and 6.9 K/9 in 61 1/3 IP over 15 starts.

  • Last start: No-decision in Thursday’s 5-3 loss at the Cleveland Guardians with 4 IP, 1 ER, 1 H, 6 BB and 2 K.
  • 2022 vs. the White Sox: One start, a no-decision in Minnesota’s 6-4 home win April 24 with 3 IP, 2 ER, 3 H, 1 HR, 3 BB and 2 K.

Kopech is 2-5 with a 2.78 ERA, 1.03 WHIP, 4.1 BB/9 and 8.3 K/9 in 68 IP over 14 starts.

  • Last start: Lost 4-1 Wednesday at the Los Angeles Angels with 5 1/3 IP, 4 R (3 ER), 5 H, 1 HR, 2 BB and 6 K.
  • 2022 vs. the Twins: One start, a no-decision in a 2-1 loss in Minnesota April 22 with 5 scoreless IP, 3 H, 1 BB and 7 K.

Twins at White Sox picks and predictions

Prediction

Twins 5, White Sox 3

Money line

BET the TWINS (+105) only because there’s a suspicious line freeze in the betting market, Archer has been more locked in than Kopech recently, Minnesota’s lineup is more productive vs. right-handed pitching and the Twins’ bullpen ranks higher in advanced pitching numbers.

Nearly 80% of the money is on the White Sox (-130) per Pregame.com, but the line hasn’t budged off the opener. This non-line movement suggests oddsmakers are begging for more pro-White Sox wagers.

Also, Minnesota’s lineup outperforms Chicago’s vs. right-handed pitching in runs per 9 (4.77-3.88), wRC+ (106-102), wOBA (.321-.315) and hard-hit rate (34.7-31.1%), according to FanGraphs.

Finally, Minnesota’s bullpen outranks Chicago’s in ERA (4.22-3.78), WHIP (1.35-1.24), K/BB rate (2.58-2.45), swing-and-miss rates and contact rates, per FanGraphs.

Run line/Against the spread

PASS.

The Twins +1.5 (-180) is out of my price range even though the White Sox -1.5 (+145) are just 7-19 RL as home favorites and I’m not confident enough in them to lay it with Minnesota’s alternate RL.

Over/Under

LEAN UNDER 9.5 (-120) only because Minnesota’s ML is my favorite look in the Twins-White Sox game.

But, there’s a “Pros vs. Joe’s” scenario in the betting market for the total and Twins-White Sox has a 9-16 O/U record when these starters get the nod.

More than 70% of the money is on the Under while nearly two-thirds of the bets placed are on the Over according to Pregame.com.

It’s wiser to follow the money especially when it’s counter to the public since professional bettors bet a lot more cash than your average Joe.

Minnesota Twins at Chicago White Sox odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Monday’s Minnesota Twins at Chicago White Sox odds and lines, with MLB expert picks and predictions.

The Minnesota Twins (45-37) meet the AL Central rival Chicago White Sox (38-39) Monday at Guaranteed Rate Field for the start of their 3-game series. First pitch is set for 8:10 p.m. ET . Let’s analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Twins vs. White Sox odds with MLB picks and predictions.

Minnesota is 6-4 straight up (SU) in the last 10 games, but lost its last outing to the Baltimore Orioles 3-1 Sunday.

Chicago is 5-5 SU in the last 10, but completed a 3-game weekend road sweep of the San Francisco Giants with a 13-4 blowout victory Sunday.

The Twins lead the season series 3-0 and have a plus-10 run differential in those meetings.

Twins at White Sox projected starters

RHP Dylan Bundy vs. RHP Johnny Cueto

Bundy is 4-4 with a 4.71 ERA, 1.29 WHIP, 1.8 BB/9 and 6.5 K/9 in 65 IP over 13 starts.

  • Last start: No-decision in Minnesota’s 7-6 loss at the Cleveland Guardians Wednesday with 5 IP, 3 R (2 ER), 6 H, 1 BB and 1 K.
  • 2022 vs. the White Sox: One start, a 9-2 win April 23 with 5 scoreless IP, 4 H, 0 BB and 4 K.

Cueto is 2-4 with a 3.33 ERA, 1.17 WHIP, 2.2 BB/9 and 7.5 K/9 in 54 IP over 8 starts and 1 relief appearance.

  • Last start: Won 11-4 Tuesday at the Los Angeles Angels with 6 IP, 3 ER, 7 H, 3 HR, 1 BB and 5 K.
  • 2022 home splits: 0-3 with a 5.48 ERA (23 IP, 14 ER), 1.39 WHIP, 4 HR and 7.0 K/9 in 3 starts and 1 bullpen outing.

Twins at White Sox picks and predictions

Prediction

White Sox 7, Twins 4

Money line

BET the WHITE SOX (-130) because they’ve been steamed up from -120 opening favorites and Bundy struggles both on the road and pitching on 5 days rest.

Bundy is 2-3 on the road with a 6.41 ERA (2.10 home ERA), 0.94 WHIP (1.53 home WHIP) and 7 HRs allowed (3 HRs allowed at home). Also, Bundy is 0-3 with a 5.25 ERA (12 IP, 7 ER), 11 H, 4 BB and 9 K when pitching on 5 days rest.

Furthermore, the Twins are 2-6 SU on the road with Bundy on the bump with a minus-49.9% return on investment (ROI). The White Sox are 6-3 SU when returning home after a 5-game or longer road swing with a plus-18.6% ROI.

BET 1 unit on the WHITE SOX (-130).

Run line/Against the spread

SPRINKLE on the WHITE SOX -1.5 (+155), if at all, because this is a chunky payout, Chicago is 6-3 RL in home games following a 5-game or longer road stand with a plus-33.2% ROI and the Twins +1.5 (-190) are 3-5 RL in Bundy road starts with a minus-26.2% ROI.

However, the White Sox’s ML is my favorite look in this game because Chicago is just 7-18 RL as home underdogs.

Over/Under

PASS.

There’s more money in the betting market on the Under 9.5 (-115) but more bets are placed on the Over 9.5 (-107), according to Pregame.com, which leads me to believe the Under is the sharper play.

Also, Chicago’s lineup has struggled against right-handed pitching and Minnesota is 0-4 O/U in the last 4 games vs. righty starters.

But I just cannot get down on the Under because both starters are bottom-of-the-rotation guys and Twins-White Sox is 5-1-1 O/U in their last 7 meetings in Chicago.

Minnesota Twins at Chicago White Sox odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Wednesday’s Minnesota Twins at Chicago White Sox odds and lines, with MLB picks and predictions.

The Minnesota Twins (40-55) and Chicago White Sox (58-37) play the finale of a four-game set Wednesday at Guaranteed Rate Field. First pitch is scheduled for 8:10 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook‘s lines around the Twins vs. White Sox odds with MLB picks and predictions.

RHP Michael Pineda is the projected starting pitcher for the Twins. He is 3-5 with a 4.11 ERA and 1.24 WHIP with 8.1 K/9 and 2.2 BB/9 over 61 1/3 IP across 12 starts.

Pineda was roughed up for five earned runs, 12 hits and no walks with four strikeouts in 5 1/3 innings in a loss against the White Sox last time out July 7.

He is 0-2 with a 6.75 ERA and .372 opponent batting average across 10 2/3 innings in a pair of starts against the ChiSox this season.

RHP Dylan Cease is the projected starting pitcher for the White Sox. He is 7-5 with a 4.15 ERA, 1.28 WHIP, 11.7 K/9 and 3.8 BB/9 across 97 2/3 IP in 19 starts.

Cease was dumped for six runs, six hits and two walks with eight strikeouts across 5 1/3 innings in a loss at Minnesota July 5. He is 0-2 with a 6.19 ERA in three starts in July.

Twins at White Sox odds, lines, picks and prediction

MLB odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full list. Odds last updated at 7:55 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Twins +125 (bet $100 to win $125) | White Sox -150 (bet $150 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Twins +1.5 (-155) | White Sox -1.5 (+125)
  • Over/Under: 9 (O: -120 | U: +100)

Prediction

White Sox 8, Twins 4

Money line (ML)

The WHITE SOX (-150) are moderate favorites in the finale as they look for the series win. They have outscored the ChiSox 14-8 in the past two outings. They’re a good bet to take down Pineda, who has really struggled in his two previous showings against Chicago this season.

FANTASY BASEBALL: Serious about winning your league? Sign up for BaseballHQ.com to dominate the competition. Subscribe now!

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

The WHITE SOX -1.5 (+125) are worth a roll of the dice in this series finale mainly because of Pineda’s struggles against them. Chicago has posted 6.4 runs per game against the past 10 outings, and they’re 4-1 across the past five against Minnesota covering the run line in each of those wins.

Over/Under (O/U)

The OVER 9 (-120) is the best play on the board. Pineda is very giving against the White Sox, and Cease was knocked around by the Twins last time he faced them, too. The Over is 18-4 in Minnesota’s past 22 games as a road underdog while going 6-1 in the past seven meetings in Chicago, too.
