The kings of Europe look to take a big step towards retaining their crown as Liverpool needs a result in the final round of group stage matches to clinch a spot in the Round of 16. FC Salzburg, the surprise troublemakers of Group E, hosts the defending champions looking to pull off a win for the ages.

It’s hard to fault Liverpool for not having its knockout round ticket punched already. Usually, three wins, a draw, and a loss would be enough, but Salzburg getting some unexpected results has made matters more difficult for the two group favorites. FC Salzburg even made Liverpool sweat at Anfield in the first meeting, pulling level 3-3 after an hour, before succumbing to the champions far superior talent.

Jurgen Klopp’s side is absolutely strolling in the Premier League with an eight-point advantage over second-place Leicester City. You can bet the team’s full focus will be on earning its spot in the next round.

The dynamic duo of Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah has led Liverpool’s attack with five of the club’s 11 goals in the group stage so far. Interestingly, Salzburg actually has a better goal differential than the Reds through its five group matches.

A big part of that is the team’s 19-year-old striking phenom Erling Braut Håland banging in eight goals in the competition so far. The youngster has attracted the attention of some of the biggest clubs in Europe thanks to his scoring exploits. If Salzburg has any chance of pulling off the massive upset, it’ll need the Norwegian to have the game of his life.

What in the world is this creature?

Can you guess the creature in this photo posted to the Facebook page of John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge at Tinicum in Philadelphia?

A photo of an unidentified species from the Animal Kingdom was posted to the Facebook page of John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge at Tinicum over the weekend with this question: Can you guess what creature this is?

The hint was a voracious insectivore.

A day later the answer was revealed. It is an eastern red bat.

“This solitary bat roosts in trees during warmer seasons, often disguised as dead leaves,” the Philadelphia, Pa., refuge explained on Facebook. “To survive the winter cold, they migrate south where they can remain active or drop into the leaf litter and go into a state of torpor! Torpor, like hibernation, is a state of reduced metabolism and activity in response to cold temperature.

“The difference between hibernation and torpor is that hibernation is for an extended period, while torpor can be shorter. Eastern red bats, like this one found in December, can come out of torpor on warmer winter days to feed.

“So next time you are walking and you notice a rather fuzzy leaf…take a closer look!”

The eastern red bat, with its distinctive fur, is known to inhabit eastern North America and Bermuda.

The final round of Champions League group stage matches is upon us. By the end of this week, we’ll know the 16 remaining teams left to battle it out for European club soccer’s biggest crown. Six of the eight groups still have at least one place in the Round of 16 yet to be decided.

Groups A and B are set in stone as far as this competition goes. PSG has won Group A with Real Madrid clinching the second spot. Bayern Munich takes the top spot in Group B with Tottenham Hotspur punching its ticket as well.

Manchester City ran away with Group C, while Shakhtar Donetsk and Dinamo Zagreb still have a chance at runner-up status. Shakhtar has the inside edge as it plays last-place Atalanta, while Dinamo plays City.

Group D winners Juventus will play a big role in deciding who gets the second spot. It plays Bayer Leverkusen, who is just one point behind Atletico Madrid. Diego Simeone’s side goes up against Lokomotiv Moskow.

Reigning European champions Liverpool have secured Group E, while surprising Red Bull Salzburg will make Napoli sweat on the last day. The Italians have a two-point cushion coming into play, but still have some work to do when playing Genk.

Borussia Dortmund and Inter Milan are neck-and-neck in Group F on seven points. Unfortunately for Antonio Conte’s Inter, it must play group winners Barcelona, while Dortmund gets to play Slavia Praha for its place in the knockout rounds.

Meanwhile, Groups G and H are both wide open with no team clinching a spot in the Round of 16 yet. It should be tense moments in both, as three different teams in each group have a chance to advance, while one will be sent to the Europa League.

2019-2020 Bowl Schedule: Games, dates, times, TV and location

Everything you need to know about the upcoming college football bowl season.

College football bowl season is upon us, with a total of 40 games gracing the schedule between Dec. 20 and Jan. 13, when a national champion will be decided.

Top-ranked LSU had the most impressive resume in the nation, beating four teams ranked in the top 13 of the final College Football Playoff rankings.

The Tigers will take on an Oklahoma team led by former Alabama quarterback Jalen Hurts that sputtered a bit in early November but survived the season with just one loss, thanks to an overtime victory over Baylor in the Big 12 Championship Game.

  • Date: Saturday, Dec. 28, 2019

How to Watch Club America vs Monarcas Morelia, Liga MX Semifinal Live Stream, Liguilla Schedule, US TV Channel, Start Time

Watch Club America vs Monarcas Morelia Live Online.

Very few fans saw this coming. Monarcas Morelia, a team that has won Liga MX only a single time in club history, is a draw away from advancing to the 2019 Apertura Final. After a 2-0 victory at home in the first leg, Morelia visit perennial Liga MX favorites Club América in Mexico City on Sunday night to vie for a spot in the final.

Club America vs Monarcas Morelia (Second Leg)

Date: Sunday, December 8

Time: 7:30 PM ET

TV Channel: TUDN

Live Stream: fuboTV (watch for free)

The first leg of the semifinal was emotional for Monarcas. In Club América, they faced a team boasting 13 Liga MX titles and an undeniable wealth of talent. Truly, these teams are at the opposite end of the spectrum historically. An early score sent the Morelia crowd into a frenzy from the start – a frenzy that crescendoed after a beautiful game-killing goal which resulted from a flourish of fantastic buildup play.

This Apertura, both teams are slightly surprising semifinalists. Club América finished sixth in the table while Morelia followed them in seventh with 27 points. Monarcas opened La Liguilla with a wild 3-3 draw against No. 2 León, who had a chance to confirm its status as favorites with a second leg at home. However, Monarcas prevailed with a 2-1 win, which included a last-minute León goal disallowed by VAR that would have sent the team home. After getting all the drama it could handle, Monarcas is arguably the best team left in the tournament.

América looked all but out after a 2-1 home loss to Tigres in the first leg. Then the team pulled off an amazing comeback in the second leg with a 4-2 win. That come-from-behind triumph against the defending champions should give the team a giant confidence boost going into Sunday’s match. The only question is whether a 2-0 deficit is insurmountable.

How to Watch Seahawks vs. Rams, NFL Week 14 Live Stream, Schedule, TV Channel, Start Time

Watch Seahawks vs. Rams Live Online.

While the Seattle Seahawks (12-2) sit atop the NFC West standings heading into Week 14, they are far from clear at the top thanks to stiff competition from the San Francisco 49ers. However, don’t count out the Los Angeles Rams (7-5), who sit in third in the division. In this Sunday Night Football showdown, the Seahawks and Rams meet for the second time this season. The Seahawks won a tight 30-29 contest in October.

The Seahawks earned their fifth straight win last week when they bested the Minnesota Vikings 37-30 on Monday Night Football. Despite falling behind 17-10 at halftime, the Seahawks scored 24 unanswered points to pull ahead for good. They had the ball for nearly 40 minutes of the game with their 218 yards on the ground propelling them to victory. Seattle also played a clean game, committing just one penalty in the contest.

Los Angeles dominated the Arizona Cardinals their last time out, getting a 34-7 victory over their division foes. Jared Goff threw for 424 yards and two touchdowns in the game, as the young quarterback looked like the player the Rams hoped he’d be rather than the struggling signal caller that has hurt the team’s chances at times this season. Up against a tougher opponent on Sunday night, the Rams will need Goff to play at a similar level against Seattle to stay in the playoff hunt.

How to Watch Chiefs vs. Patriots, NFL Week 14 Live Stream, Schedule, TV Channel, Start Time

Watch Chiefs vs. Patriots Live Online.

A rematch of last season’s AFC Championship Game will take center stage in Week 14, as the Kansas City Chiefs head to New England to take on the Patriots. With both teams looking to improve their playoff positioning, the stakes will be high between them again, even if a Super Bowl berth isn’t on the line this time around.

Chiefs vs. Patriots

  • When: Sunday, December 8
  • Time: 4:25 p.m. ET
  • TV: CBS
  • Live Stream: fuboTV (watch for free)

The Chiefs enter this clash having secured a key division win their last time out. They throttled the Oakland Raiders, 40-9, to give themselves some breathing room atop the AFC West. Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs offense only managed 259 total yards for the game, but their defense forced three turnovers that put the Chiefs in easy scoring positions throughout the game. Against the Patriots, turnovers may not come as easily and Mahomes will need to be much sharper.

New England suffered its second loss of the season last week, falling 28-22 to the Houston Texans. The Patriots allowed DeShaun Watson to throw for three touchdown passes, as the Texans went ahead 28-9 in the game and were able to coast the rest of the way to victory. The Patriots have struggled against Lamar Jackson and Watson this season, both dual-threat quarterbacks, and will need to tighten up their defense against a third mobile quarterback in Mahomes if they want to avoid another defeat.

The Pittsburgh Steelers (7-5) look to keep their wild card hopes alive against the Arizona Cardinals (3-8-1) Sunday afternoon. Pittsburgh has won the last three matchups, including a 25-13 victory the last time these two teams met in 2015 and a 27-23 Steelers win in Super Bowl XLII.

Steelers vs. Cardinals

  • TV: CBS
  • Live Stream: fuboTV (watch for free)

As the calendar moves to December, the final month of the NFL regular season, the Pittsburgh Steelers realize they must continue their playoff push. The Steelers have won two in a row and six of their last seven games. Devlin Hodges completed 14 of 21 passes for 212 yards, one touchdown and one interception in a 20-13 win over the Browns last weekend. Rookie Benny Snell Jr. rushed for 63 yards and one score in the absence of James Conner. James Washington stepped in as the team’s No. 1 receiver with JuJu Smith-Schuster sidelined and reeled in four catches and one touchdown. The Steelers should be getting Conner and Schuster back shortly, as well as starting center Maurkice Pouncey who was suspended two games for his role in the brawl vs. Browns two weeks ago.

The Steelers defense has been red hot as well. They currently rank fifth in total defense with opponents averaging 317.2 YPG. Last weekend against the Browns, Pittsburgh recorded five sacks and one interception. Rookie Devin Bush Jr. led the team with seven tackles, while Alvin Dupree added six tackles and one-and-a-half sacks. Minkah Fitzpatrick has turned out to be a great acquisition after being acquired from the Dolphins. Fitzpatrick is a beast in the secondary and is tied for the league lead with five interceptions this season.

Arizona has lost five in a row, including a 34-7 thumping at home against the Rams. Once again, the offense struggled. Kyler Murray threw for 163 yards and one interception while adding 28 yards rushing and a score. Kenyan Drake led all rushers with 31 yards. The team has weapons on the offensive side of the ball, which is obvious after posting 54 points in two games against the 49ers and 27 points against Tampa Bay. Murray was the No. 1 overall pick for a reason. He can beat you with his arm and with his legs, but he needs to stay consistent and not turn the ball over.

The defense has been an issue for the Cardinals this season. They rank last in the NFL in yards allowed (426.3) and passing yards allowed (307.5) and are second-to-last in points allowed (29.2). This was evident against the Rams, who produced over 500 yards of total offense with 424 yards coming through the air.

How to Watch Lions vs. Vikings, NFL Week 14 Live Stream, Schedule, TV Channel, Start Time

Watch Lions vs. Vikings Live Online.

The Detroit Lions (3-8) head to Minneapolis to face the Vikings (8-4) in an NFC North contest. The Vikings have won the last four contests. Both teams met back in Week 7 when Kirk Cousins and Matt Stafford each threw for over 300 yards and three touchdowns. However, it was Vikings running back Dalvin Cook’s 142 yards rushing and two touchdowns that provided the difference in the game. Can the Vikings pick up another divisional win and inch closer to the Packers? We’ll find out Sunday.

Lions vs. Vikings

When: Sunday, December 8

Time: 1:00 p.m. ET

TV: FOX

Live Stream: fuboTV (watch for free)

Everything seemed to be going wrong at the quarterback position for the Lions. Stafford and Jeff Driskel were both out, so it was next man up for Detroit. David Blough completed 22 of 38 passes for 280 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception, but the team lost 24-20 vs. Chicago, its fifth loss in a row. Bo Scarborough rushed for 83 yards and Kenny Golladay reeled in four catches for a season-high 158 yards, his fifth game over 100 yards. Detroit can put up points and it will try and beat you through the air. The Lions rank seventh in total yards (337.2 YPG) and seventh in passing yards (271.7 YPG).

While the offense is successful, the Lions defense has struggled mightily. Bears quarterback Mitch Trubisky threw for 338 yards and three touchdowns. As a unit, the defense is 29th in total yards allowed (398.1 YPG) and 30th in passing yards allowed (280.1 YPG). The Vikings rely on the run, but with Cook’s production down the last two games, they could put the ball in Cousins’ hands more and allow his weapons on the outside to make plays.

Don’t count the Vikings out in any games. Their last four have been decided by seven points or less and that includes a 26-23 loss to Kansas City on the road and a 37-30 loss in Seattle last week. Cousins completed 22 of 38 passes for 276 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. Those passes went to a total of nine different wide receivers. Cook injured his shoulder in the game and has since said he will be ready to play, but how productive will he be? In his last two games, he has a combined 55 yards and two touchdowns.  Not the numbers the league’s fifth-best rusher (1,046 yards) is accustomed to putting up.

The Seahawks totaled over 450 yards of offense against Minnesota. Russell Wilson made plays with his arm and accounted for 240 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception, but it was Seattle’s ground and pound rushing attack that was the most damaging. Chris Carson and Rashad Penny combined for 38 carries, 176 yards, and two touchdowns. How will the defense bounce back against a weak Lions running attack? Can it stop the passing game? That is Detroit’s forte and the Vikings are ranked 20th in that category (242.9 YPG), the worst of any major defensive statistic.

Baltimore is coming off a tough matchup with San Francisco last Sunday with a 20-17 win at home while Buffalo went on the road to Dallas and knocked off the Cowboys 26-15. The real question is will the Buffalo Bills be one of the first teams to stop Lamar and the troops. We all know that the Ravens are going to run the ball and while averaging at least five yards per carry there is no reason why they wouldn’t continue the ground and pound running style.
The Buffalo Bills defense is not one to overlook and will look to stop Lamar and the Ravens with their potent offense. Tremaine Edmunds and Matt Milano will be ready to shadow Lamar and hope to show the world who the Buffalo Bills are.

Prediction: Analyst Ryan Brandenburger thinks the game will be close but isn’t sure that Buffalo’s defense can stop Lamar Jackson. If the Bills defense stops the Ravens the first few possessions then the Bills have a shot. Take the under 44 and the Ravens will cover the -6 spread in this contest with a 27-20 victory.
