Lamar Jackson must play with poise vs. Dolphins | NFL week 17

Baltimore Ravens QB Lamar Jackson and OC Todd Monken should use a meticulous offensive attack to neutralize the Dolphins in week 17.

The Baltimore Ravens rank No. 1 in the NFL in rush yards per game. Perhaps, quarterback Lamar Jackson and OC Todd Monken should prioritize the ground attack in week 17?

The Miami Dolphins have their eyes glued on a chance to seize the No. 1 seed in the AFC and the Ravens stand in their way. To neutralize the high-powered Dolphins’ pass attack, the Ravens will want to maximize their time of possession by being patient on offense.

The Ravens use a committee that features Jackson, running back Gus Edwards, and Justice Hill to average 159 rush yards per game. However, the Ravens only rushed for 102 yards in week 16.

Their prolific week 16 victory was fueled by forced turnovers and the dominant play of rookie wide receiver Zay Flowers. This week, Flowers will have to deal with the physicality of Dolphins’ cornerbacks Jalen Ramsey and Xavien Howard. While the Ravens forced five San Francisco 49ers turnovers, they were only able to convert 23 total first-downs.

Under head coach Mike McDaniel, it’s senseless to assume that quarterback Tua Tagovailoa will throw four interceptions like Brock Purdy. The Ravens will be tasked with stopping wide receiver Tyreek Hill and the fewer opportunities they give the Dolphins’ offense to operate, the higher chance they’ll have to disrupt their rhythm.

Jackson must be effective on offense by avoiding turnovers and turning red-zone opportunities into touchdowns and not field goals.

Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa in concussion protocol after tossing 3 second-half picks vs. Packers

A missed head injury to Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa may have contributed to a three-interception performance from the Packers defense in the second half Sunday.

The Green Bay Packers intercepted Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa three times in the second half to help create a come-from-behind win at Hard Rock Stadium on Sunday.

A missed head injury for Tagovailoa might have played a big role in the final 30 minutes of play.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Tagovailoa reported experiencing symptoms on Monday and is now in the concussion protocol.

The head injury likely occurred on the play before Raheem Mostert’s fumble coming out of the two-minute warning in the first half. Packers outside linebacker Kingsley Enagbare took down Tagovailoa from behind, and the quarterback’s head bounced off the turf as he twisted to the ground.

Tagovailoa was not evaluated for a concussion and remained in the contest.

In the second half, Tagovailoa overthrew Tyreek Hill on an interception and threw picks right to De’Vondre Campbell and Rasul Douglas in the fourth quarter. The interception by Douglas ended the game and sealed the Packers’ 26-20 win.

How drastic was Tagovailoa’s play before and after?

In the first half, Tagovailoa completed nine of 12 passes for 229 yards, one touchdown and zero interceptions. His passer rating was 144.4.

In the second half, Tagovailoa completed seven of 13 passes for 81 yards, no touchdowns and three interceptions. His passer rating was 33.3.

If confirmed, this would be Tagovailoa’s third concussion of the 2022 season.

The Packers won their third straight game in a row and are now 7-8. The Dolphins dropped a fourth straight game and are now 8-7.

Eight former Crimson Tide players named captains of their NFL teams

Plethora of former Crimson Tide players will serve as NFL captains in 2022

The University of Alabama is known for the talent they produce on the gridiron, however, the individuals they are off the field are just as impressive. Saban has always advocated for his players to leave Alabama with a college degree.

The lessons learned in Tuscaloosa are blooming in the NFL now as eight former Crimson Tide members will be captains in 2022 including the three quarterbacks: Mac Jones, Tua Tagovailoa and Jalen Hurts.

Over the course of the past few years, Saban has made it a priority to recruit talented prospects, but also players that are willing to be coached.

WATCH: New Dolphins HC Mike McDaniel talks to Tua Tagovailoa for first time

Tua got to speak with his new head coach before he even touched down in Miami!

Former Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is heading into his third season in the NFL with the Miami Dolphins, which is expected to be a make-or-break season for him.

The Dolphins recently parted ways with the franchise’s head coach of three years, Brian Flores, and hired former San Francisco 49ers offensive coordinator, Mike McDaniel.

McDaniel has never been a head coach before, but has been rising through the ranks since 2005. His innovative offensive schemes lead many to believe he holds the keys to unlocking Tagovailoa’s potential in the NFL.

On the flight to Miami, McDaniel Facetimed Tagovailoa. McDaniel said that as his coach, he plans on getting “all of the greatness” out of him.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to cover Tagovailoa and other former Alabama stars in the NFL.

New Miami Dolphins HC Mike McDaniel ‘has answers’ for Tua Tagovailoa

Could we see a completely different Tua Tagovailoa in 2022?

Former Alabama star quarterback Tua Tagovailoa was drafted No. 5 overall in the 2020 NFL draft by the Miami Dolphins, and his first two seasons with the franchise have been far from enjoyable.

Whether it be issues with the coaching staff and front office, trade rumors, constant criticism and more, Tagovailoa’s young career has seen a lot of negative.

His play, while not terrible, has not impressed many. However, that may change with a new head coach.

The Dolphins, to the surprise of football fans, media members and players, fired head coach Brian Flores after having him coach for three seasons.

Fast forward a couple weeks later and Miami has a new head coach in San Francisco 49ers‘ offensive coordinator, Mike McDaniel.

McDaniel has worked with multiple big-time coaches, including: Kyle Shanahan, Sean McVay and Matt LaFleur.

Now, it is McDaniel’s turn to be the head coach.

Peter Schrager on Good Morning Football today said he spoke with McDaniel following the hiring and he claimed McDaniel is excite to maximize Tagovailoa’s strengths and had answers for the quarterback when speaking with Miami’s front office during the interview process.

The Miami Dolphins are on the road in week 17 when they face the Buffalo Bills from Bills Stadium in Orchard Park, NY.

The Dolphins are in a unique situation where if they win against the Bills they are automatically in the playoffs. They’ll play the starters for the first half of the game this afternoon and most likely hand it off to the second-teamers after that.
