Two Bulldogs named 2020 preseason All-Americans

Two Georgia football players have been named to the Sporting News preseason All-America team for the upcoming 2020 college football season.

A pair of Bulldogs were selected as preseason All-Americans for the upcoming college football season.

Sporting News, which is one of five outlets that contribute to determining consensus All-American status, selected Georgia DB Richard LeCounte to the first team as well as OL Trey Hill to the second team.

Sporting News is accompanied by the Walter Camp Foundation, the Associated Press, the Football Writers Association of America and the American Football Coaches Association in selecting college football’s All-Americans.

Both Hill and LeCounte are expected to have big years for Georgia, a team that will be without a lot of talent seen last year.

Hill will be the leader of the Dawgs’ offensive line this season after losing Andrew Thomas, Isaiah Wilson and Solomon Kindley to the NFL Draft.  Thomas and Wilson both went in the first round, a record for UGA, while Kindley went as a steal early in the fourth.

Hill played in all fourteen of Georgia’s contents last season, proving himself as a vital piece to the Dawgs’ O-line.  Georgia will also be without Cade Mays, who transferred to Tennessee this offseason and also made Sporting News’ preseason second team.

LeCounte will lead the Bulldogs defense this season, surprising many with his decision to return for his senior year.

LeCounte is a veteran who has a lot of experience under his belt.  He played in all fourteen games the past two seasons, as well as seven games his freshman year.  LeCounte has put up a total of 150 tackles, 5 interceptions, 6 pass deflections, 5 fumble recoveries and 4 forced fumbles in his collegiate career so far.

Lecounte has a chance this season to solidify himself as one of the greatest DBs in Georgia football history as well as a first round NFL Draft pick.
