TreVeyon Henderson gets the scoring started against Toledo: Social Media reacts

TreVeyon Henderson pushes his way into the endzone to open the scoring against Toledo. #GoBucks

Ohio State got the opening kick-off and took its first drive straight down the field for a touchdown courtesy of TreVeyon Henderson. The Buckeyes did a nice job of mixing up the running game with short passes to open up the field.

Before the score, C.J. Stroud hit tight end Cade Stover for a 38-yard strike to set up the TD. The Buckeyes came to the line, handed the ball off to Henderson and he patiently waited for the line to open some holes before pushing his way into the endzone.

Check out the shifty run below and what social media thought about the score. Henderson went to the locker room afterward so we’ll keep an eye on any injury news that becomes available.

Know your foe, Ohio State: Five Buckeyes that could give Notre Dame problems

A tough assignment in Columbus this weekend

This Buckeye team is going to pose problems for every opponent they face they year, regardless of how good the squad is on the other sidelines. With that in mind, many of us already know about the exploits of quarterback CJ Stroud, running back TreVeyon Henderson and wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba, so they won’t be featured here. There are other members of the Ohio State team that could give Notre Dame issues on Saturday night and here they are.

Tale of the Tape: Leading Rushers – Logan Diggs vs. TreVeyon Henderson

The passing comparison is a mismatch, but this running comparison doesn’t fare much better.

Much like the battle of the quarterbacks, the leading rusher battle between Notre Dame and Ohio State is rather lopsided. Of the returning Irish running backs, [autotag]Logan Diggs[/autotag] has a slight edge over [autotag]Chris Tyree[/autotag], but those numbers aren’t very high. That’s because both of them have been living in the shadow of [autotag]Kyren Williams[/autotag], whose departure to the NFL will allow them to finally have the production they came to South Bend for. This first game might not be the best time for it to happen, but it will be a start.

The Buckeyes are returning a powerful running force in TreVeyon Henderson. While most of the attention understandably will be given to C.J. Stroud, Henderson can be just as potent. He also has done a good job receiving passes, which should scare any opponent. This definitely will be a game in which experience gives him an advantage, at least going in.

Ranking the best running backs in the country

College Wire Regional Editor Patrick Conn breaks down his top 10 running backs for the upcoming 2022 season.

The start of the 2022 college football season officially starts on Saturday, but the Texas Longhorns kick it off a week later.

One of the biggest keys to a successful season in Austin could revolve around the play in the backfield. No, we aren’t pointing to the newly named starting quarterback Quinn Ewers. His backfield mate Bijan Robinson is the topic of this discussion. Robinson was named to the AP All-American first-team on Monday and for good reason.

Some notable names will be recognizable to fans of the Big 12 with Robinson being joined by Deuce Vaughn and former TCU runner Zach Evans. The Big Ten, PAC-12, and SEC are also represented on the list.

As the season draws near, we are breaking down the top 10 running backs for 2022.

Five Ohio State football players named AP Preseason All-Americans

Five Buckeyes were named AP All-Americans on Monday. #GoBucks

The Associated Press released its preseason college football All-American teams on Monday and five Ohio State players made the cut. It’s not the program with the most — that distinction goes to Alabama with six — but it is the second most and still a pretty impressive haul.

The Buckeyes enter the season with a Heisman frontrunner at quarterback, perhaps the best wide receiver in the country, and one of the most dynamic running backs in college football as well. And that’s just for starters. Don’t be surprised if a few players have breakout seasons on defense with the retooling on that side of the ball.

We’ve already seen plenty of preseason accolades for this year’s team entering the season, it’ll now be up to the squad to make good on everything on the field of play when the games start to count.

Here are the five players that made the AP’s All-American Team.

Ohio State with five players in ESPN’s top 100 for 2022

Can you guess how many, and who from Ohio State made this list? Did anyone not make it that should have? #GoBucks

Any list of best college football players in the country on almost any given year is going to be littered with Ohio State players, but the number and spot in that ranking are going to vary by season.

ESPN just publishes such a list and it’s unlikely a spoiler to let you know that the Buckeyes are once again well represented, not only with the number of players but where some of those dynamic, American football athletes are in the ranking.

The ESPN staff identified five OSU players among the top 100 for this season with a little blurb about each one. Here are all five Buckeyes, where they rank, and what the “worldwide leader” says about each.

Ohio State football players on preseason watchlists for 2022

Here are all the Ohio State football players and the preseason award watch lists they appear on. #GoBucks

One of the things that we watch as the season draws nearer and nearer is the parade of preseason award watch lists that make the rounds. At this point, we are pretty much through the numerous players identified, so we thought we’d queue up a runny tally of which Ohio State football players made which lists.

Keep in mind, that just because a player isn’t on a list doesn’t mean he can’t be added later. Also, these watch lists will be paired down as the season goes on based on performance and perspective (sometimes more of the latter).

As you can guess, there are quite a few Buckeyes on these watch lists because — well, football factory and all.

Top ten Ohio State football players for 2022

Counting down the top ten football players entering 2022. Do you agree? Are we missing anyone? #GoBucks

Three weeks. That’s all we have in front of us until the start of the 2022 Ohio State football season. There will be plenty of coverage and analysis throughout the fall, but as we lead up to it, we’ll be looking at some of the best players, stories, and things to watch as we prepare for the season.

No team can make the type of runs to college football glory like the Buckeyes have without some pretty special players, and there is once again a lot of talent returning on a roster that could make this fall and winter memorable. But what if you were lining up players clad in scarlet and gray and picking out the best entering the season? Who would you pick, and why?

Here at Buckeyes Wire, we thought it would be fun to identify what we believe are the ten best players for Ohio State entering the season, the bunch that will have a lot to say about whether or not there are some trophies and rings at the end of this rainbow that is the 2022 OSU football season.

Here are our top ten Buckeye football players as we get closer to the start of all the fun in just a few short weeks.

TreVeyon Henderson named to the Doak Walker watch list

Ohio State running back TreVeyon Henderson is one of 74 names appearing on the 2022 Doak Walker watch list that was announced Wednesday.

We’ve got another preseason watch list for you, this time from the folks on the Doak Walker Award committee. The award, handed out to the college football player judged to be the best running back in college football annually, has been handed out since 1990.

This year, the watch list has 74 names appearing on it, with Ohio State running back TreVeyon Henderson getting recognition as one to watch as we kick off the 2022 college football season.

Henderson burst onto the scene last season as a true freshman, rushing for 1,248 yards and 15 touchdowns on 183 carries (6.8 yards per carry). This, from an offense that has become extremely pass-heavy under head coach Ryan Day.  Lost in all of that though is that with the number of plays Ohio State now runs on offense, there are plenty of opportunities for a running back the caliber of Henderson to get his touches and yards.

Henderson will look to build on a campaign that he put together a year after missing a year of high school development because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

There is no doubt that Henderson is one of the most explosive and gamebreaking running backs in the country, and if Ohio State can have the type of offense we think it will in 2022, he should get ample opportunity to show what he can do and make a run at the Doak Walker.

Eddie George is the only OSU player to take home the award, all the way back in his Heisman year of 1995.

WATCH: Ohio State players TreVeyon Henderson and Gee Scott Jr show off house flipping efforts

Look at the creative NIL project TreVeyon Henderson and Gee Scott Jr are working on! #GoBucks

There are all kinds of ways to make some money with Name, Image, and Likeness now becoming the norm in college sports. Some are the standard spokesman variety, but others are a little more creative.

Take the project Ohio State tight end Gee Scott Jr and running back TreVeyon Henderson are undertaking. Rather than sign a lucrative deal to drive a nice car, or show up at some autograph signings, they have taken to flipping houses.

Don’t believe us? Take a look at video shared by the Twitter account @nilmanagement and see the progress the two are making on their first house flip. The video says that they are about midway through the refurbishment with mechanical upgrades like plumbing, HVAC, and electrical taking place.

There’s no timetable provided for when this flip will be completely done, but if they are good at it, maybe they’ll have their own H(enderson)G(ee)TV in the near future.

Now, let’s hope the two can decorate the house with some individual and team-oriented championship hardware when it’s all said and done.
