Panthers host record 39 team legends at Back Together Saturday

Some familiar faces were in attendance for the Panthers’ Back Together Saturday event.

The “Back Together” in Back Together Saturday meant a little bit more for the Carolina Panthers this summer.

In addition to the 90 or so active players the organization currently employs, 39 franchise legends were in attendance for this morning’s training camp practice at Bank of America Stadium. Per Vashti Hurt of Carolina Blitz, the 39 attendees are the most in the team’s history of the event.

Those former Panthers are as follows:

Before getting back at Back Together Saturday, the legends met up with each other at the stadium on Friday. Addison, who played for the Panthers from 2012 to 2019, spoke about the importance of the reunion.

“We need this. We need to do this more,” Addison said, via Kassidy Hill of Panthers. “People tend to leave the league and do their own things. Life happens. You have a family, have kids, and tend to never look back. But being able to come back and see all these guys in this environment—it’s like a (family) reunion. A football reunion…we need to share the stories for the younger generation can hear how we did it and how we paved the way.”

Former NFL players react to video of Cam Newton brawl

Guys who have played with and against Cam Newton think it’s a bad idea to try to fight Cam Newton.

So, is trying to fight Carolina Panthers legend Cam Newton a good idea? Well, maybe we should see what some of his old teammates and opponents think.

On Sunday, a video of Newton appearing to be attacked by multiple individuals at his 7v7 event in Atlanta went viral. The clip made the rounds to former NFL players, who had the following to tweet about the wild incident:

Former Panthers DB Tre Boston: There’s a target on Steve Wilks’ back

Tre Boston, who played for Steve Wilks in Carolina and Arizona, thinks his former coach is getting the shaft.

For two straight years, Steve Wilks has been told he’s not a fit. But one of his former players isn’t buying it.

Ex-Carolina Panthers safety Tre Boston took to Twitter on Wednesday following the announcement of Wilks’ dismissal from the San Francisco 49ers. Here’s what he had to say:

One day after sidestepping a direct question regarding Wilks’ future, 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters he’d be moving off his defensive coordinator heading into the 2024 season. This is now the second year in a row, and the third time in his coaching career, that Wilks has seemingly gotten the shaft.

The first instance came in 2018, when the Arizona Cardinals fired Wilks from their head-coaching job after just one season. The second came last year, when he was passed up for the Panthers’ head-coaching vacancy despite reinvigorating the team in the interim role to close out the 2022 campaign.

Boston spent three seasons in Carolina under Wilks, who was his position coach from 2014 to 2016. He also followed Wilks out to Arizona for that lone season.

Ex-Panthers S Tre Boston: Bryce Young is capable of anything and everything

Former Panthers safety Tre Boston: I think Bryce Young is capable of doing anything and everything he wants on the field

While promoting his new show—which is set to premiere this Sunday on The Weather Channel—Tre Boston took some time out to forecast the future of the Carolina Panthers.

The former safety joined Friday’s edition of Good Morning Football and spoke on his old hometown pals in Charlotte. When asked about the franchise’s decision to go up and get their quarterback of the future (and present), Boston said he sees sunny days ahead for the cats.

“I think it’s a very smart decision,” he stated. “One thing we know about the Panthers and [general manager] Scott Fitterer is he’s very aggressive. So for them to trade up, get Bryce Young at No. 1—it’s telling the organization and the people who are fans that, ‘Hey, we’re trying to win and we’re trying to do it by making a big impact.'”

That big impact came back on March 10, when the Panthers pounced atop the draft order to position themselves for the passer they desired. For that, they shipped off a handful of high-end picks and standout receiver DJ Moore to the Chicago Bears in exchange for 2023’s first overall selection.

Boston said that he also likes what Carolina has put in place for their guy since.

“What I love about Bryce Young is that he has veterans around him,” he added. “Andy Dalton. He has a quarterback coach in Josh McCown. So you, as a young guy, get the veteran leadership that you need. But I would love to allow people to let him have the time that he needs. But I think Bryce Young is capable of doing anything and everything he wants on the field—as long as the Panthers find ways to protect him.”

Oh, and they’re capable of that as well. Carolina, headlined by 2022 first-round pick and left tackle Ikem Ekwonu, is boasting its best offensive line in quite some time.

So you, or Tre, could say that the Panthers did a bit of renovation to their home this offseason.

Former Panthers S Tre Boston to host national home-renovation show

Tre Boston, a former Panther and resident of Thieves Ave, is hosting the new season of a home-renovation show.

A former Carolina Panther is trading in his football helmet for a hard hat.

Last week, The Weather Channel released the new trailer for its home-renovation show FAST: Home Rescue. And hosting this latest season of the program will be ex-Panthers safety Tre Boston and his wife Cierra.

The reality series will give the Bostons and their crew exactly five days to rebuild homes that were damaged by severe weather. Tre, per Charles Runnells of the Fort Myers News-Press, said his time on the show was a rewarding experience.

“All of us can relate,” he said. “This is our peace of mind, being able to lay our heads down at night.

“So for them to have that feeling back and know that this is theirs ― that they can have and they can own ― it’s a blessing.”

Boston, who has also appeared on television as a host for the ACC Network, played five seasons for the Panthers. The University of North Carolina product and 2014 fifth-round pick was a part of two NFC South championship teams—including the one that reached Super Bowl 50 in 2015.

The season premieres on Sunday, June 18 at 10 p.m. ET.

Former Tar Heel Tre Boston to host new season of TV show

Former Tar Heel Tre Boston and his wife, Cierra Boston, are set to host a new TV show season on the Weather Channel.

Former North Carolina defensive back Tre Boston is taking his talents to the weather channel as he is set to host a new season of “FAST: Home Rescue.”

Boston will co-host with his wife, Cierra Boston, as the two help transform homes impacted by natural disasters in five days. The heartfelt show will display families’ struggles when their homes are devastated while broadcasting the rebuild of homes impacted by severe weather in return bringing new hope in a sorrowful situation.

The show initially aired in September of 2022 with host Cody and Felicia Walker, brother, and sister-in-law of the late Paul Walker.

This show is not Boston’s first rodeo on television. Last season he was a co-host for ACC Network’s “ACC PM.” The show will air Sunday, June 18, at 10 p.m. ET.

Steve Smith Sr., Tre Boston tease returns after Panthers sign Josh Norman

Steve Smith Sr. and Tre Boston seem to be inspired by Monday’s reunion between the Panthers and Josh Norman.

Since the Carolina Panthers are out to win their first division title in seven years, maybe they should just keep turning back the clock.

As insurance for the injured Jaycee Horn, the team signed 35-year-old cornerback Josh Norman to their practice squad on Monday. Norman, of course, rose to NFL prominence in Carolina—where he played from 2012 to 2015.

Well, his former teammate and fellow defensive back Tre Boston seemed a tad intrigued by the move—so much so that he teased a reunion of his own.

Residents of the famed “Thieves Ave,” Boston and Norman played a pair of seasons together in Charlotte. There with them at the time was current interim head coach Steve Wilks, who led the secondary as the Panthers defensive backs coach.

But the good ol’ times didn’t stop with that tweet, as franchise legend Steve Smith Sr. also joined in on the fun.

DJ Moore, Terrace Marshall Jr. and Agent 89 in the building? Hmmm . . .

Hey, while we’re at it—does anyone know what Cam Newton, Greg Olsen, Julius Peppers and Luke Kuechly are currently up to?

Former Panthers S Tre Boston: Steve Wilks deserves to be HC

Panthers interim HC Steve Wilks just got another ringing endorsement. This time, it came from Tre Boston—who certainly knows a thing or two about the man and his team.

Another day, another endorsement for Carolina Panthers interim head coach Steve Wilks.

This time, the praise came from a former player in Tre Boston. The ex-Panthers safety and current ACC football analyst, who was on hand at Bank of America Stadium on Friday ahead of the clash between the Clemson Tigers and North Carolina Tar Heels, called Wilks an “amazing leader” who deserves a full-time head-coaching job.

“To this day, I still talk to him, I’ve communicated with him this season,” Boston said. “I am truly happy to see him get this because you knew that if things kinda went they way they did, you were hoping that he’d get this position. And to see the guys playing the way they are, man. You can always tell a team by the fight they have for their coach. And there’s a difference between laying down.

“And I’ve played for teams that we’ve been on interim coaches and been on different coaches where guys . . . they don’t wanna fight for you. You’re not really one of us. And that’s what you have to be. You have to be a team and that’s what Steve Wilks brings. He’s a guy who knows how to rally the troops and you’ve seen why this team has been so special while he’s been at the helm.”

Wilks coached Boston in Carolina from 2014 to 2016, when he served as the defensive backs coach under Ron Rivera. So, yeah, he’s the right guy to ask when it comes to Wilks and Panthers football.

And we’ll see, with five games left after this week’s bye, how much fight Wilks’ Panthers have in a tight (and improbable) NFC South race.

Panthers react to University of South Carolina’s NCAA championship victory

Those who’ve repped the Panthers repped the South Carolina Gamecocks on Sunday night, as the ladies captured their second national title in program history.

The Carolina Panthers may be one team, but they proudly represent two states. And both of those states had themselves a heck of a weekend in college basketball.

On Saturday, it was the University of North Carolina Tar Heels edging out their rival Duke Blue Devils to clinch a spot in the men’s national title game. Then Sunday was for the ladies, as the University of South Carolina Gamecocks held off the UConn Huskies to capture their second ever tourney crown.

So check out those who rep the Panthers repping out the Gamecocks in their triumphant win.

Former Panthers S Tre Boston painfully recalls Von Miller’s strip-sack prowess

When Von Miller strip-sacked Tom Brady on Sunday, Tre Boston tweeted what every Panthers fan was probably thinking. Gee, thanks, Tre.

Carolina Panthers fans might’ve experienced a bit of bad déjà vu last week courtesy of Odell Beckham Jr. and the Los Angeles Rams. But that was mere peanuts compared to what happened with them today.

Early in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s NFC divisional-round clash between said Rams and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, linebacker Von Miller shot off the edge to force a strip-sack of quarterback Tom Brady. So, uh, does this look familiar to any of you . . . ?

No? How about now . . . ?

(Sorry.)

Well, Miller’s repeat heroics didn’t get past former Panthers safety Tre Boston—who had a front-row seat to the MVP performance back in Super Bowl 50.

Gee, thanks for reminding everyone, Tre.

Boston and the rest of the Panthers saw their magical 2015 campaign, one where they nearly ran the regular-season table at 15-1, squashed by Miller and his two forced fumbles of quarterback Cam Newton. Denver topped Carolina on that dreary night, 24-10, in what would have been the franchise’s first claim to the Lombardi Trophy.

But, if it’s any comfort to Panthers fans who are now feeling down, Miller also helped squash Brady and Tampa Bay’s chances at a repeat title as Los Angeles escaped Raymond James Stadium with a 30-27 win.
