Oklahoma Safety Key Lawrence to enter the transfer portal per report

Sooners safety Key Lawrence to enter the transfer portal.

According to Matt Zenitz of 247Sports, Oklahoma Sooners safety [autotag]Key Lawrence[/autotag] is entering the [autotag]transfer portal[/autotag].

After Gabriel, Lawrence marks the most significant departure for the Sooners and easily the biggest loss on defense at this point.

Lawrence started 14 games across three seasons after transferring from Tennessee following the 2020 season. Each year in Norman, he improved, showing a playmaking ability in coverage and the ability to come up and support in the run game.

In his Oklahoma career, he tallied 149 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, three interceptions, and 12 passes defended.

His playing time began to diminish late in the season. Over the final four games, Lawrence played fewer than 20 snaps for the Sooners defense.

Heading into 2024, the Sooners will rely on young safeties [autotag]Peyton Bowen[/autotag] and [autotag]Robert Spears-Jennings[/autotag] and hope that [autotag]Billy Bowman[/autotag] will return for his senior season.

Four schools firmly in the mix for former UCLA QB Dante Moore

The true freshman and five-star high school prospect will be one of the most pursued quarterbacks in the transfer portal, including interest from schools like Oregon and Michigan.

Former UCLA quarterback and five-star prospect Dante Moore is in the transfer portal, and according to a Monday report from 247Sports’ Allen Trieu, there are four schools on the shortlist for Moore’s next home.

Trieu said Oregon, Florida State, Michigan, and Miami should be considered the starting points for Moore’s recruitment.

Ducks starting quarterback Bo Nix and Seminoles starter Jordan Travis have no eligibility remaining, Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy is likely bound for the NFL Draft, and Miami’s Tyler Van Dyke is in the transfer portal as well.

Moore appeared in nine games as a freshman for the Bruins this past season. He finished with 11 touchdowns, nine interceptions, and a QBR of 33.1. Seven of his interceptions came in three games. He led the UCLA offense to a 25-17 win over then-ranked Washington State, and he threw seven touchdowns in his first three games of the year, including a season-opening victory over Coastal Carolina.

As a high school prospect, the 6-foot-3, 210-pound quarterback was the third-highest quarterback in 247Sports’ 2023 rankings and the No. 5 overall quarterback.

Sooners offensive lineman Savion Byrd to enter the transfer portal

Oklahoma Sooners offensive lineman Savion Byrd entering the transfer portal.

The Oklahoma Sooners have now lost their second offensive lineman to the portal on the opening day of transfer season. First, it was former four-star OL Nate Anderson declaring his intentions; now, [autotag]Savion Byrd[/autotag] joins him in the [autotag]transfer portal[/autotag].

While Anderson didn’t play much in his time with the Sooners, Byrd opened the 2023 season as a starter at left guard. He suffered an injury that kept him out of a few games.

The Sooners experimented at guard with Troy Everett but ultimately landed with Cayden Green, who had a breakout performance against Texas.

Byrd started in the Cheez-It Bowl loss to Florida State and showed some promise. That led to a strong offseason where he earned the left guard spot. He started the first three games of the season and then started in place of McKade Mettauer against Kansas.

A former four-star prospect in the 2021 signing class, Byrd played 345 snaps across three seasons and will likely land a starting job somewhere in the transfer portal. He was the No. 4 interior offensive lineman and No. 13 player in the state of Texas.

South Carolina wide receiver Juice Wells enters transfer portal

The Gamecocks wide receiver and 2022 first-team All-SEC nominee will have two years of eligibility left as a graduate transfer.

South Carolina wide receiver Antwane “Juice” Wells has entered the transfer portal, the Gamecocks wideout announced on Sunday.

“Thank you (Gamecock Nation) for everything!!!” Wells wrote in his statement. “I appreciate all the love and support that was shown me and I will be forever grateful.”

The senior also took the time to thank his teammates and coaches, specifically his wide receivers coach.

Wells, a graduate transfer with two years of eligibility remaining, started his collegiate career with James Madison. He picked up 603 yards and scored six touchdowns in his first season, but he broke out with the Dukes in 2021. He tallied 83 receptions for 1,250 yards and 15 touchdowns. While James Madison was an FCS school at the time, only two FBS receivers matched all three of those metrics.

After Wells transferred to South Carolina, he caught 68 passes for 928 yards and six touchdowns in his first season with the Gamecocks. He finished second in the conference in receptions and fifth in receiving yards, and he was one of two wide receivers named to the 2022 All-SEC First Team.

Wells’ 2023 season was a wash after he injured his left foot early in the season. He only appeared in two games, catching three passes for 37 yards and a touchdown in less than a full game of work. The injury aside, he’s clearly one of the most talented and accomplished wide receivers in the portal.

Two of Wisconsin’s starting wide receivers have entered the transfer portal

Two of Wisconsin’s starting wide receivers have entered the transfer portal

Wisconsin is losing some of its top players from the last few seasons.

Both starting wide receivers Chimere Dike and Skyler Bell announced their intentions to enter the portal earlier today, leaving what was a crowded wide receiver room no longer as full.

Dike’s announcement is a bit of a surprise as a senior leader and one of the program’s best wideouts over the last several years. He will finish his Wisconsin career with 44 games played over four seasons, 97 receptions, 1478 yards, nine touchdowns, 14 carries, 99 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown.

Bell, on the other hand, had his snap counts greatly diminished this season with the arrivals of several transfer wide receivers. His Wisconsin career will finish with 26 games played over three seasons, 69 receptions, 755 receiving yards, six touchdowns, 13 carries and 160 rushing yards.

Wisconsin will now move into 2024 with Dike, Bell and Keontez Lewis — the team’s three leading wide receivers in 2022 — all gone from the team. Will Pauling, C.J. Williams and others will now need to step up to lead the room.

Clemson running back enters the transfer portal

A Clemson running back has entered the transfer portal.

Another Clemson player has entered the transfer portal as he looks for a new opportunity with a new team.

Running back Domonique Thomas announced his decision via Twitter/X on Monday, joining other Tigers’ with a decision to move on. Thomas was a walk-on in 2022, earning a scholarship before the start of that season.

The redshirt junior ushed 25 times for 147 yards in 64 offensive snaps in 16 games at Clemson from 2022-23. This season, Thomas took 18 carries for 116 yards and a touchdown, adding a 4-yard reception playing 43 snaps over 12 games.

“Firstly, I want to thank GOD for blessing me with the opportunity to have experienced many special moments at Clemson,” he posted.

“A special thanks to Coach Swinney, Coach Spiller, and the entire program for helping me grow to be the best version of myself.”

“To my brothers, I will always appreciate the bond we created over the past two years, and I wish yall nothing but the best. After prayer and consideration, I have decided to enter the transfer portal with three years of eligibility remaining.”

“Thank you, Clemson Nation; You will always hold a place in my journey.”

Report: LSU pushing Purdue for Notre Dame offensive line transfer

Joey Tanona medically retired in 2022, but the former four-star recruit is attempting a comeback.

The Tigers are likely to take a more conservative strategy this offseason as it relates to the transfer portal than they have the last two years, but there are still some portal players they’re trying to land.

One of them is [autotag]Joey Tanona[/autotag], a former Notre Dame offensive lineman whom [autotag]Brian Kelly[/autotag] recruited to South Bend. A former four-star prospect in the class of 2022, the Zionsville, Indiana, native never appeared in a game for the Fighting Irish.

He medically retired in August 2022 as a result of a car accident on the way to a workout, but now after missing the last two seasons, he’s attempting a comeback.

Tanona entered the transfer portal, and in-state Purdue is the favorite having received a Crystal Ball projection from 247Sports’ Steve Wiltfong on Monday morning.

However, Wiltfong would later report that LSU is in the mix for Tanona as well, and while he still likes the Boilermakers, there could be a surprise in store here.

Tanona will have three remaining years of eligibility at his next stop and will have a decent chance to petition the NCAA for a fourth year, given the fact that he has never played in a collegiate game.

Washington picks up crystal ball prediction for Will Rogers

This would be a major addition for Washington.

The Washington Huskies could be one step closer to addressing their quarterback position for the 2024 season. This time they will look to the SEC and the transfer portal to address the future need for a signal-caller.

According to 247Sports insider Chris Hummer, Rogers is likely to land with the Washington Huskies for the 2024 season. The former Mississippi State Bulldogs quarterback is the No. 2 all-time leading passer in SEC history with 12,315 yards and No. 4 in touchdown passes with 94.

He will now likely head to Seattle, where he will replace a former Indiana transfer, Michael Penix Jr who is out of college eligibility after the season. The Huskies are preparing to take on the Texas Longhorns in the CFP Semifinal game in the Sugar Bowl.

Rogers is among the active leaders in career passing yards, trailing only Sam Hartman (Notre Dame), Bo Nix (Oregon), Dillon Gabriel (Oklahoma), Penix Jr. (Washington), and Jayden Daniels (LSU). Following the season, he will only trail Gabriel, who also entered the transfer portal.

The addition of Rogers is quite an addition for a Washington team led by head coach Kalen DeBoer, who has been one of the hottest head coaches in college football since he arrived in the Pacific Northwest.

LSU defensive lineman enters the transfer portal

The Tigers lost another depth piece on defense Sunday night.

LSU hasn’t seen a ton of departures to the transfer portal so far, but it has lost a few depth pieces.

It suffered another loss on Sunday night as defensive lineman [autotag]Bryce Langston[/autotag] announced that he would be entering the portal, which officially opened at midnight on Monday.

A former four-star recruit and top 200 prospect in the 2021 class who signed under [autotag]Ed Orgeron[/autotag], Langston hasn’t seen a ton of action during his time in Baton Rouge. In three seasons, he’s appeared in just four games for the Tigers, totaling three tackles.

Two of those came in his lone appearance this fall in LSU’s 72-10 home opening win over Grambling.

Langston becomes the fourth scholarship player to enter the portal, joining running backs [autotag]Armoni Goodwin[/autotag] and [autotag]Tre Bradford[/autotag] as well as cornerback [autotag]Laterrance Welch[/autotag].
