Tuchel and Conte have it out in three-round affair

Thomas Tuchel and Antonio Conte were both red carded after some handbags at full time

Thomas Tuchel and Antonio Conte fought all throughout, and then after, Chelsea and Tottenham’s action-packed 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

Both coaches were red carded at full time after their post-game handshake inevitably devolved into another headed confrontation.

The action on the pitch was plenty entertaining on its own but on the sidelines, the German and Italian had it out in a three-round affair.

Round One

Tottenham’s 68th-minute equalizer through Pierre-Emile Højbjerg was highly controversial, as it appeared that Rodrigo Bentancur fouled Kai Havertz in the build-up. After the goal stood, Tuchel and Conte had their first clash of the afternoon and were both yellow carded.

Round Two

Chelsea appeared to have won the match in the 77th minute when Reece James scored, and Tuchel made sure his counterpart knew how elated he was by sprinting past Conte along the touchline.

Round Three

After Harry Kane equalized with a dramatic stoppage-time header, Tuchel and Conte decided that, despite their previous issues throughout the match, that the traditional post-game handshake was still in order.

We all knew how this would turn out.

The aftermath

“I thought when we shake hands you look in each other’s eyes, Antonio had a different opinion,” Tuchel told Sky Sports after the game.

The Chelsea manager also pointed out his belief that Richarlison was offside on Tottenham’s first goal and also fumed over what he felt was a missed call on Cristian Romero for pulling Marc Cucurella’s hair.

“There was a clear foul on Kai Havertz and the situation goes on and on. Richarlison was offside and when can you pull hair on a football field?”

Conte, for his part, tried to play down the clash with Tuchel.

“I don’t want to comment on the [Tuchel] situation, this is not the most important thing,” he told Sky Sports. “If there’s a problem, it’s between me and him.”

Golfers who love the Premier League

Find out which professional golfers support which Premier League teams.

The 2022 British Open begins on Thursday at the legendary Old Course at St Andrews, with golf’s biggest stars descending on the United Kingdom.

Many of those same players will be closely watching next month when the Premier League kicks off in England, just a short train ride away from their current location in Scotland.

With that in mind, let’s take a look at which Premier League teams some of the biggest names in golf support.

Most people would say Son Heung-min is world class. His father isn’t one of them.

Winning the Premier League Golden Boot hasn’t quite convinced the Spurs star’s father

Son Heung-min is pretty good at what he does.

The Tottenham star just finished the Premier League season with 23 goals, tying Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah for the Golden Boot. Notably, the Korean scored none of his goals from the penalty spot while Salah scored five.

Son has been one of the top players in the Premier League for some time now, having scored double-digit league goals for six consecutive seasons while also ranking near the top of the league’s assist charts during that span.

Plenty of fans and pundits would say the 29-year-old is still underrated, especially after he got shut out entirely of the recent PFA awards. But the Spurs star’s father thinks his son still has a ways to go.

Son Woong-jung, himself a former pro player, gave an interview in 2018 when he said his son was “absolutely not world class.” Four years later, has his mind changed at all?

“There is no change even now,” Woong-jung told Daum. “Heung-min is not yet world class.”

Asked what makes someone world class, Woong-jung replied: “He is a player who can survive in the best clubs in the world. I think it will be possible if Heung-min grows by 10 percent in all fields.”

Complacency doesn’t seem likely to set in for the Tottenham striker as long as he is taking his father’s advice. Maybe it’s tough love, but it could also ensure the striker keeps striving for bigger and better things.

“I’m always cautious,” Woong-jung said. “A crisis comes when you say, ‘This is enough.'”

Incredible Man City comeback vs Aston Villa snatches Premier League title away from Liverpool

A three-goal burst in five minutes sealed a dramatic final-day championship for Pep Guardiola’s side

Manchester City won the Premier League title on Sunday, securing the crown with an incredible three-goal fightback against Aston Villa that snatched the title right out of Liverpool’s hands.

In an incredible day of drama across England, Villa went up 2-0 against City in the second half, leaving Liverpool needing just one more goal against Wolves to seal the title.

But by the time Liverpool got that goal through Mohamed Salah, Man City had completed a sensational five-minute period that saw it score three times.

Ä°lkay GündoÄŸan found the net with an 81st-minute tap-in from Kevin De Bruyne’s low cross, completing a dramatic turnaround and sending the Etihad Stadium into raptures.

City held on for a 3-2 win, making Liverpool hard-luck runner-up after its 3-1 win over Wolves.

Pep Guardiola’s men have now won four of the last five Premier League titles.

Tottenham beats Arsenal to Champions League spot

Arsenal went into the final day having lost two straight matches, giving Tottenham control over its own Champions League fate heading into the final day.

Spurs only needed to draw at rock-bottom Norwich to secure a top-four place but they went one better by easily defeating the Canaries 5-0.

Arsenal needed to defeat Everton and get help from Norwich, but only managed to get the former. The Gunners’ 4-1 win over the Toffees was a case of too little, too late, and they’ll be in the Europa League next season after finishing in fifth place.

Spurs forward Chioma Ubogagu banned for ‘anti-doping violation’

Of all things, acne medication triggered a doping violation ban.

Tottenham striker Chioma Ubogagu won’t see the field until October after the FA gave her a nine-month ban for what it calls ‘anti-doping rule violations.’

Ubogagu’s ban is backdated to January, when she was provisionally banned while the investigation was conducted, and includes both playing in games and training with Spurs.

UK Anti-Doping found that Ubogagu had unintentionally used canrenone, a diuretic that can be used to mask other performance-enhancing substances. The FA’s statement said that it found that Ubogagu committed the violations “without significant fault or negligence on her part.”

“I am so sorry to my teammates and staff that I can’t be out on the pitch,” said Ubogagu in a club statement. “I want to make clear that the medication had no performance-enhancing effects for me, but I still made the mistake of not being as diligent as possible.”

Ubogagu signed with Spurs in the 2021 summer window, making 13 appearances during the first half of the season before Spurs reported the possible violations to the FA and UK Anti-Doping. Writing in The Players’ Tribune, Ubogagu said she prescribed acne medications by a dermatologist while playing in the NWSL, and the investigation was triggered when she asked Spurs’ team doctor to refill the prescription. According to Ubogagu, Spurs applied for a therapeutic use exemption, but it was rejected as the application came after she had begun using the medications.

Arsenal smashed by Tottenham with Champions League berth at stake

Tottenham beat Arsenal 3-0 on Thursday with a Champions League berth at stake

Arsenal had a chance to clinch a spot in the Champions League for the first time in five seasons on Thursday, and it could have done so in the best possible spot: Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Securing a Champions League return at the expense of arch-rival Tottenham certainly would’ve been a dream come true for the Gunners. But the north London derby quickly turned into a nightmare.

Within 33 minutes Arsenal was down a goal and a man after Harry Kane’s penalty and Rob Holding’s two yellow cards. It would get worse from there as Kane scored once more and Heung-Min Son added a third in the second half.

Tottenham’s 3-0 win marked the first time it defeated Arsenal by three goals in the Premier League era, and was its biggest league win against the Gunners since a 5-0 win in April 1983.

With two games remaining, fourth-place Arsenal has a one-point lead over Tottenham. The Gunners can guarantee a Champions League by defeating Newcastle and Everton in their last two games, but any slip-up would open the door for Spurs.
