Following the release of the Buffalo Bills 2023 schedule by the NFL, here are the five biggest games to circle:
Doug Pederson is glad the Jaguars won’t be making a trip to Buffalo this year.
The Jacksonville Jaguars will make history in the 2023 season when they play back-to-back games in London.
No team has had two international games in the same season, let alone two in eight days. Most believe that the extended stay in the United Kingdom will give the Jaguars a competitive advantage, as the Bills will have to travel across the Atlantic to face a team that has already been in the country for a week.
Maybe more importantly, the Jaguars won’t have to make a trip to Upstate New York.
“I’d rather play Buffalo in London than maybe in Buffalo at the end of the season,” Jaguars coach Doug Pederson said Thursday night on NFL Network. “We know Buffalo is tough. They’re one of the top AFC teams and somebody that we look to — if we’re going to get to where we want to get to, Buffalo is one of those teams that we have to compete against.”
The Jaguars lost each of their last two trips to Buffalo, but won each of the last three times the Bills visited Jacksonville.
The oddsmakers at the DraftKings Sportsbook have the Jaguars listed as a 3.5-point underdog for the Week 5 matchup.

NFL announces 5-game international schedule
Prior to the Raiders relocating to Las Vegas they had played an international game five times in six years. That was twice in Mexico City and thrice in London. The last being in 2019 when they faced the Bears in the first ever NFL game at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
With each year that passes, it seems like it could be time again for the NFL to ask them to head across the pond to play a game. At least with another team hosting.
This year two of the Raiders away teams are playing overseas, so there seemed to be a chance they would return, or perhaps be one of the first teams to play in Germany. But no. The NFL released their international schedule today and the Raiders were not among the teams.
Here is the schedule:
Who: Falcons vs Jaguars
What: Week 4 matchup
When: October 1
Where: Wembley Stadium, London
Who: Jaguars vs Bills
What: Week 5 matchup
When: October 8
Where: Tottenham Hotspur Stadium
Who: Ravens vs Titans
What: Week 6 matchup
When: October 15
Where: Tottenham Hotspur Stadium
Who: Dolphins vs Chiefs
What: Week 9 matchup
When: November 5
Where: Frankfurt Stadium, Germany
Who: Colts vs Patriots
What: Week 10 matchup
When: November 12
Where: Frankfurt Stadium, Germany
The full NFL schedule is scheduled to be released tomorrow, May 11 at 5pm Pacific (8pm ET).
The Jaguars will travel to London to play a “home” game against the Falcons in Week 4 and a road game against the Bills in Week 5.
The Jacksonville Jaguars will meet the Atlanta Falcons and Buffalo Bills in a pair of London games in Weeks 4 and 5, the NFL announced Wednesday.
Jacksonville has played one of its home games in England every year since 2013 with the exception of 2020 when the NFL’s international slate was cancelled due to COVID-19. That’ll be the case again when the Jaguars “host” the Falcons at Wembley Stadium on Oct. 1.
A week later, the Jaguars will play an away game at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium against the Bills on Oct. 8.
Both games will kick off at 9:30 a.m. ET with coverage of the Week 4 game on ESPN+ and coverage of the Week 5 game on NFL Network.
Jaguars president Mark Lamping, who previously told the Florida Times-Union that consecutive games in London was a strong possibility for the 2023 season, said that the back-to-back games will allow the team to maximize efficiency on its trip across the Atlantic Ocean.
"The addition of the road contest against Buffalo allows us to maximize the logistical efficiency of our travels to and from the United Kingdom, while maintaining a strong slate of games in our true home at TIAA Bank Field."

The Jaguars are the first team in NFL history to play two international games in the same season. They will presumably have an advantage over the Bills who will attempt to acclimate to the travel to play a team that has already been in London for nearly two weeks.
Jacksonville’s remaining schedule, including a slate of eight games at TIAA Bank Field, will be revealed Thursday night.

The Jaguars may play back-to-back games in London during the 2023 season, according to team president Mark Lamping.
The Jacksonville Jaguars have been the NFL’s quasi-ambassador in the United Kingdom for a decade now, and that international effort may ramp up in 2023.
On Friday, Jaguars team president Mark Lamping told the Florida Times-Union that there’s a possibility the team will play back-to-back games in London during the upcoming NFL season.
“The stars are aligning with the Jaguars’ home schedule and the NFL schedule of London games for the first time,” Lamping told the Times-Union’s Gene Frenette. “There’s a much greater likelihood this year we could be asked to play as a visitor.
“The NFL knows who our road opponents are. We knew there was a possibility we could be asked to play [a second game in London].”
The Jaguars have played one home game in England in nine of the last 10 NFL seasons. The only exception was 2020 when the league’s international slate of games was scrapped due to COVID-19. The Jaguars will again play one home game overseas in 2023 and will reportedly only consider a second game in London if it’s as a visitor.
In January, the NFL announced that the Jaguars would host a game at Wembley Stadium in 2023 and both the Tennessee Titans and Buffalo Bills would play games at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. With both the Titans and Bills on the Jaguars’ list of road opponents in 2023, the possibility of consecutive games in London makes sense for Jacksonville.

2022 season: NFL announces the Saints will kick off vs. Vikings in London at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Oct. 2

There it is: the New Orleans Saints will face the Minnesota Vikings at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London Oct. 2, with kickoff scheduled for 8:30 a.m. CT. The contest will be broadcast exclusively on NFL Network. This counts as a home game for the Saints, who won’t have to move another home game overseas until 2030.
Here are the teams visiting New Orleans for games at the Caesars Superdome in 2022: Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Cincinnati Bengals, Baltimore Ravens, Las Vegas Raiders, Seattle Seahawks, and Los Angeles Rams.
This Saints-Vikings game in London will be part of the NFL’s Week 4 slate, but because bye weeks do not begin until after Week 6 the Saints will have to fly back on short rest before their next matchup. It’s a frustrating wrinkle for their schedule, but it’s nothing they haven’t overcame before. Dennis Allen and his team will be ready.

Quincy Williams’ roughing the passer penalty against the Falcons was a ridiculous example of the NFL’s obsession with quarterback protection.
With 12:55 left in the first quarter of the Falcons-Jets game from Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, Jets pass-rusher Quincy Williams — who had his first NFL sack last week against the Titans, joining his brother Quinnen, who is on the same defense and had two quarterback takedowns in that game — took down Atlanta quarterback Matt Ryan. It was a third-and-9 play and should have ended the Falcons’ drive, but referee Tony Corrente called Williams for roughing the passer, giving the Falcons a first down, and moving the ball from the Atlanta 36-yard line to the New York 49-yard line.

Should it have been a penalty? If we’re going with the letter of the law, in which the NFL has decreed that a defensive player must teleport himself off the quarterback’s body before both players land on the turf, even if the defender unwraps before he hits the ground, we suppose so. But Ryan still had the ball in his hand by a split millisecond when Williams initiated contact, and he did work to unwrap from Ryan before Ryan hit the ground.
Corrente and his crew should have waved this off, and the Falcons should have had to punt, but this is the NFL as it stands today. Defensive players have very little chance to succeed, even if they do everything the right way from a physical possibility perspective.
