Seahawks safety Jamal Adams to undergo offseason surgery

Seattle Seahawks safety Jamal Adams will undergo offseason surgery in the near future to address his torn labrum and broken fingers.

The 2020 NFL season came to a screeching halt for Seattle Seahawks safety Jamal Adams and his teammates Saturday afternoon, losing to the Los Angeles Rams 30-20 in the wild-card round.

For Adams, the chance to appear in a playoff game meant so much for the first-timer, yet was over so quickly. He’s now looking ahead to what needs to happen over the offseason, most importantly, tending to his injured shoulders and broken fingers. Adams will likely underdo a surgery or two in the near future to address the issues.

“I’ve got to take care of these fingers for sure, and the shoulder,” Adams said after the loss. “It’s part of the game. I’m not sitting here making excuses for anything, it’s part of the game, and like I said early in the week, there was no doubt in my mind that I wasn’t going to go out there and attempt to play.

“I did what I could, I wish I could have done more to help the team win, but obviously things didn’t roll our way.”

Adams certainly isn’t making excuses, but he was a bit hindered by his shoulder in Saturday’s matchup, wearing a brace of sorts to stabilize the injury, which turned out to be a torn labrum.

“Yes, I did have a harness on that restricted me from going up or going across, but that’s not an excuse,” Adams explained. “I’ve got to make the play. I mean, it was a hell of a grab, stuff like that happens, but you know obviously the ball just didn’t roll our way on that one.”

Report: Texans safety Justin Reid to undergo shoulder surgery

Houston Texans safety Justin Reid will have shoulder surgery to repair a torn labrum, according to Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle.

For the second consecutive offseason, Justin Reid will start it off with surgery and subsequent recovery.

According to Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle, the Houston Texans safety will undergo surgery to repair a torn labrum that the second-year defensive back played through in 2019.

At the end of Reid’s rookie season in 2018, he had wrist surgery and spent much of the offseason with a cast on his wrist, even though he shot free throws at a Houston Rockets game and also shagged a fly ball in J.J. Watt’s celebrity softball game.

Reid collected 78 tackles, a tackle for loss, two interceptions, five pass breakups, and a fumble recovery in his 15 games played for the Texans, all of which he started. The only game he missed was Week 12’s rematch with the Indianapolis Colts on Thursday Night Football as Reid had a concussion and couldn’t get out of the protocol on such a short week.
