Cowboys 2020 Big Board: 25 best remaining prospects heading into Draft’s Day 2

The Dallas Cowboys made their big splash into the 2020 NFL Draft in Round 1. Take a look at the CowboysWire updated big board for Day 2

Oklahoma wide receiver Cee Dee Lamb found himself falling pick by pick as other teams in front of the Dallas Cowboys addressed different needs or took a different type of wide receiver. The Cowboys decided to take an aggressive approach to draft the best player available and selected who some consider the best and most complete wideout in the entire draft.

Now that the shock of taking a wide receiver in the first round is settling down, the Cowboys find themselves in a situation where addressing the defense becomes an even higher priority on Day 2. And fortunately for the Cowboys, not only is there an abundance of defensive talent remaining, but there’s plenty of talent waiting to be plucked at wide receiver and running back, pushing down players Dallas will actually consider.

The Cowboys hold the No. 51 and No. 82 picks on the day, the 19th selection in the second round and 18th pick in the third.

Earlier in the week, Cowboys Wire published our team-specific big board of the top 125 prospects which fit what Dallas does. Clearly the selection of CeeDee Lamb eliminates what the need for a receiver, so those listed under second-and-third-round grades are a non-factor; at least until later in the draft.

There are plenty of players who warranted consideration for a Day 1 draft selection who still remain available, suchas the premier safeties in Alabama’s  Xavier McKinney, Minnesota’s Antoine Winfield, Jr. and LSU’s Grant Delpit.

After losing Byron Jones in free agency to the Dolphins, the Cowboys also find themselves with a need to address the cornerback position. Still waiting in their respective homes are SEC star corners Trevon Diggs from Alabama and Kristian Fulton from LSU.

Fans can also keep their eye on Utah cornerback Jaylon Johnson.

Finding a suitable defensive end to go opposite of the Cowboys star edge rusher Demarcus Lawrence could also be addressed on Day 2.

Yetur Gross-Matos out of Penn State, Wisconsin’s Zack Baun, Iowa’s A.J. Epenesa and Boise State’s Curtis Weaver headline the defensive ends still available. The Cowboys could also add to the interior defensive line if they so choose by drafting Justin Madubuike from Texas A&M, Ross Blacklock from TCU, Alabama’s Raekwon Davis or Auburn’s Marlon Davidson.

The Big Board gets even bigger on Day 2 for the Cowboys and there is a massive list of players the Cowboys can add in addition to making a huge splash in Round 1.

There are plenty of opinions circulating the world wide web as to just who the best prospects available in the 2020 NFL draft are. Each draftnik and analyst have their own inherent biases, whether it be based on school and conference or traits they like to see. That’s why there’s never just one list and fans are generally well off looking at a multitude of boards to get an overall sense.

Here, the work has been done for you. Using the Top 100 boards of well-revered and respected names in the industry, we’ve compiled a composite ranking. That’s why the awkward number of 143. Across the six boards we used, there were 143 total prospects named in the various top 100s.  An important distinction, this doesn’t take into account scheme fit or team needs for the Dallas Cowboys. This is a list that looks at the NFL as a whole.

These are the boards used.

53 players appeared in everyone’s Top 100 and another 18 showed up on at least five boards. As for the outliers, there were 21 players who only showed up on one board, signifying the diversity of opinions across the draft world. From there, players had to be given ranks for the boards they didn’t appear in.

If a player showed up on five boards, the missing rank was assigned 101. For four boards, 110, three boards, 120, two boards, 130 and one board 140. Data scientists are probably cringing right now, but it seemed a fair way to assess on surface and not completely dismiss the outliers from the exercise.

So without further ado, follow along.

4 Broncos squads make NFL’s list of 100 greatest teams

John Elway and Peyton Manning quarterbacked the four Broncos squads that made the NFL’s list of 100 greatest teams in league history.

In celebration of the league’s 100 years, the Associated Press created a list of the 100 greatest teams in NFL history and NFL Network put together a countdown series based on the list.

Four Denver Broncos teams made the cut.

Coming in at No. 86 on the list is the 2013 Broncos, a team that smashed offensive records in the regular season but suffered an embarrassing loss in the Super Bowl.

Denver’s 2015 team is ranked No. 58, which many Broncos fans would say is too low. It’s a fitting number, though, given that outside linebacker Von Miller wore No. 58 when he earned MVP honors in Super Bowl 50.

Just nine spots up in the rankings from the 2013 squad, Denver’s 1997 team is ranked No. 50. Again, many Broncos fans probably feel that’s too low.

It’s no surprise that Denver’s highest-ranked squad is the 1998 team, which started the year 13-0 on the way to a convincing Super Bowl win. That team is ranked No. 14 on the list.
