TJ Warren reacts to his return to the court for Nets after foot injury

Here’s what TJ Warren had to say about his return to the court against the Toronto Raptors on Friday.

Brooklyn Nets wing TJ Warren played his first NBA game in 703 days in the Brooklyn Nets 114-105 win over the Toronto Raptors on Friday. He had 10 points and four rebounds in 17 minutes.

The last time that Warren played in an NBA game was Dec. 29, 2020 when he was still with the Indiana Pacers. He has missed the past two years dues to multiple stress fractures in his left foot that required two surgeries.

Warren was the leading scorer on that Pacers team in the 2019-2020 season as he averaged 19.8 points per game. He made quite the name for himself in the NBA bubble when he averaged 31 points per game and that average included a 53-point game that he had against the Philadelphia 76ers on Aug.1, 2020.

Warren spoke about his return and what he endured to make it back for this game:

“It was a lot of emotion before the game. I went through every emotion to get back to this point. The training staff, my teammates, the coaching staff, organization, did a great job getting me back to this point and I’m just forever grateful for this opportunity.”

In what was obviously an emotional night for Warren, he took to Twitter to sum up his night.

Player grades: Kyrie Irving scores 27 as Nets beat Raptors in TJ Warren’s return

Here’s how the Nets did in the victory over the Toronto Raptors on Friday.

The Brooklyn Nets hosted the Toronto Raptors on Friday and won 114-105. The Nets have now won four games in a row overall and have won six games in a row at home.

Kyrie Irving scored 27 points on efficient shooting and had five assists while Kevin Durant had 17 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists. Joe Harris chipped in with 17 big points and TJ Warren played in his first NBA game in 703 days and scored 10 points.

Pascal Siakam had 24 points and seven rebounds for the Raptors as OG Anunoby had 21 points and six rebounds. Scottie Barnes had 17 points and nine rebounds while Gary Trent Jr. score 16 points off the bench for Toronto.

The Nets won the first quarter 41-17 as they could not miss a shot behind the likes of Irving and Harris going off. The Raptors could not make a shot in the early going and they weren’t able to provide much resistance on the defensive end.

The second half was a different story however. Through a combination of the Nets coming back to earth shooting the ball as well as the Raptors finally settling in, this became a game in the fourth quarter as the Nets started coasting.

In the end, Toronto could not recover from their dismal start and it cost them as the Nets did enough to finish the game with a win. Here are the player grades for the Nets’ players:

Nets coach Jacque Vaughn gives promising updates on Watanabe and Warren

The Nets are hopeful that two key role players will return this week.

Before the Brooklyn Nets’ win over the Portland Trail Blazers on Sunday, coach Jacque Vaughn gave promising updates on sharpshooting big Yuta Watanabe and T.J. Warren. Vaughn said both players are “trending toward” being available in the coming week.

According to NBA insider Shams Charania, the Nets are targeting a December 2nd return for Warren against the Toronto Raptors.

Watanabe is putting up eight points per game while shooting a league-best 57 percent from behind the arc, and teammate Kyrie Irving feels that Watanabe is the best shooter in the league.

Warren was picked up this offseason and needed time to recover from a foot injury, and has only played four games in the last two seasons. As an efficient shooter from the bench, the Nets have been awaiting his return.

Nets coach Jacque Vaughn provides positive injury update on TJ Warren

Brooklyn Nets coach Jacque Vaughn says TJ Warren is now playing against other players as he continues his rehab.

During his pregame availability before the Brooklyn Nets took on the Philadelphia 76ers on Tuesday, Nets coach Jacque Vaughn said that wing TJ Warren is now “playing against other players” as he continues to rehab from a foot injury.

Warren has only played four games in the last two seasons combined because of various injuries and he is currently recovering from surgeries to address stress fractures in his left foot.

Warren signed with the Nets this past offseason on a one-year, $2.6 million deal with the idea that he would spend part of this season rehabbing to eventually play for the Nets this season.

“It (Warren’s activity) is against players,” Vaughn said. “I’m not sure if it was four on four. It could have been the range from three on three, four on four. Not sure if they get to five on five.”

The Nets are eagerly awaiting Warren’s return because of his ability to score the basketball at all three levels, but they also want to give him as much time as he needs to completely recover from his foot injuries.

Ky Carlin of Sixers Wire contributed to this report.

Nets’ T.J. Warren gives update on his rehab

Brooklyn Nets forward T.J. Warren says he’s ‘on track’ in his recovery from injury.

Even though the Brooklyn Nets had a huge victory over the Toronto Raptors in their second regular season game, the team is still shorthanded with recovering athletes. T.J. Warren has yet to play a game for Brooklyn, but he gave a promising update on his recovery progress.

During his nonprofit event “Eat & Move Better Boxes”, Warren was able to discuss his injury recovery. Nets insider Brian Lewis of the New York Post talked with Warren about his recovery, “I’m doing everything I can. The training staff has been great and I like my progression. I’m on track so I’m excited about that.”

Warren continued, ““I’m just excited to get back out there. It’s been so long. So this [is] definitely exciting to do what I love to do. And I just can’t wait. I could just feel that itch. But [right now] we’re here to talk about the community, and basketball stuff, that will come.”

“Absolutely there’s definitely a comfort level [with] O’Malley actually being the team doctor here, and he’s seen everything since Day 1, so kind of just like me being a peace of mind just knowing that he’s in my corner here.”

Ben Simmons set for Nets debut, key role players out

Ben Simmons will finally take the court for the Nets.

With the Brooklyn Nets opening this NBA season at Barclays Center later this afternoon, the team will be prepared to try different lineups of athletes on the roster.

Brooklyn Nets insider Kristian Winfield reports that the franchise will be missing two key role players for the team’s preseason debut. Winfield reported, “Seth Curry and TJ Warren are out for [Monday’s] preseason opener.”

The organization faces off against the Philadelphia 76ers in their preseason opener, where they will utilize all of their talents to see where players will earn their minutes. The team will have plenty of players ready to prove themselves and earn more minutes as a more consistent role player for the team.

Curry last suffered a back injury and Warren found out the severity of his injury just days following his signing. Both players will be huge parts of the Net’s game plan, Curry will likely earn back his starting spot and will be the team’s best three-point shooter.

Nets wing TJ Warren is not expected to take the court until November

Reports indicate that newly acquired forward TJ Warren will not be fully recovered by the time the season starts.

While the Brooklyn Nets’ media day was Monday, there has been some more news on players on the organization’s roster.

It seems that newly acquired wing player TJ Warren’s injury needs a little bit longer to recover. Basketball insider Nick Friedell of ESPN reports that Warren won’t be ready to start the season.

Friedell tweeted, “T.J. Warren (foot) will not be ready to start the season. Nash says this was not unexpected and Warren continues to make progress.”

Warren suffered an injury in his left foot with a navicular fracture. The Pacers organization was supportive of his recovery, but clearly, he was interested in joining a team with more playoff aspirations.

Warren averaged nearly 20 points per game in the last full season he played, and had an incredible streak of games during the NBA Bubble. Joining Brooklyn gives him the opportunity to light up secondary defenses.

Warren is expected to return sometime in November.

Bleacher Report projects TJ Warren’s NBA 2K23 rating

Was the TJ Warren signing an offseason win for the Brooklyn Nets?

While the Brooklyn Nets are hoping free agent TJ Warren will be able to rediscover his Orlando bubble form, recently a writer predicted that Warren’s NBA 2K23 rating will take a deep dive from years past.

NBA writer Andy Bailey of Bleacher Report writes that his ratings dive is caused by only appearing in four games all last season.

“That he maintained a rating in the 80s is either an indictment on the developers or an awful lot of faith in his bubble run and nearly two-year-long injury recovery. In six bubble games prior to the 2020 playoffs, Warren averaged 31.0 points and 3.7 threes while shooting 57.8 percent from the field and 52.4 percent from three. It was a heck of a run, but it probably doesn’t warrant his staying power at 82,” wrote Bailey. “At this point, there’s really no way to know what kind of player Warren is. And it’s fair to wonder if the kind of foot injuries that could cause him to miss this much time could have a long-term effect on him. With an offseason to dive into all the ratings, the developers will surely catch this one and slide him down to the 70s.”

Report: Brooklyn Nets sign sharpshooter TJ Warren

TJ Warren is joining the Brooklyn Nets on a one-year contract.

With the Nets’ two superstars awaiting a trade out of Brooklyn, the organization just picked up seven-year veteran forward TJ Warren.

NBA insider Shams Charania reported that the team signed TJ Warren to a one-year deal.

Warren only played in four games last season, but averaged nearly 20 points and almost four boards per contest in the 2020 season. He shot an efficient 53 percent from the field, improving his value for the Indiana Pacers during his tenure there.

The Pacers let the sharpshooting forward go, just days after they traded Malcolm Brogdon to the Boston Celtics.

Warren is a high-risk-high-reward signing since he didn’t play last season, but if his efficiency carries over then the team will reap the benefits. Picking up Warren could be a great offseason signing for the franchise.

The Nets signing Warren is great because the team needs as much talent as possible with stars Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving soon out the door.

TJ Warren’s 39 ruins 30-point night for LeBron James, Lakers fall to 2-4

TJ Warren continues to be the NBA’s MVP as the Pacers knock off the Los Angeles Lakers 116-111.

LeBron James played his most aggressive offensive game of the bubble so far, racking up his highest point total so far of the seeding games with 31 points, but the rest of the Los Angeles Lakers were not up to the task on Saturday night as they fell to 2-4 in their six seeding games, losing to the Indiana Pacers, 116-111. The Lakers were the latest team to burn in the flames of the TJ Warren inferno, as the Bubble’s leading scorer poured in a game-high 39 points for the Pacers.

In addition to the play of Warren, the Pacers got 22 points from Victor Oladipo. On the other side of the court, Anthony Davis had an anonymous eight points on 3 for 14 shooting as the Pacers worked hard to force the ball from his hands and double-team him every time he caught the ball in the post. Meanwhile, Kyle Kuzma doesn’t have the same excuse as he went 3 for 14 off the bench without nearly the same kind of defensive attention. The best supporting performance from the Lakers tonight came from Quinn Cook, who scored 21 points off the bench.

The Lakers are back on the court on Monday when they face a potential conference final opponent in the Denver Nuggets.
