Josh Giddey talks about his TikTok fame, lists favorite NBA players to follow on platform

Josh Giddey revealed the origin of his TikTok account.

In an interview with Emily Austin, Oklahoma City Thunder guard Josh Giddey spoke about his TikTok fame and which players around the league he watches the most on the social media platform.

Giddey has developed a bit of a following due to his TikTok fame as he is one of the more active users on the platform that plays in the NBA.

“I was actually in Mexico and had to sit in my room and couldn’t do anything. I started getting on TikTok and I made a few videos and from there, I started loving it. I got on all the time,” said Giddey. “I think a lot of NBA guys started to get on it and it’s become one of the biggest social media platforms.”

Giddey listed off Giannis Antetokounmpo and Cole Anthony as NBA players he watches a lot on TikTok.

Considering Giddey is just 19 years old, he probably grew up with the app as it grew in popularity since it was released in 2016.

The ‘Pink Sauce’ TikTok trend that’s gotten out of hand, explained

Pink Sauce (it’s not Pepto Bismol!) is everywhere on TikTok … and it’s not going so well.

Welcome to FTW Explains, a guide to catching up on and better understanding stuff going on in the world. Have you heard about something called “Pink Sauce” that you’ve seen around social media, especially TikTok, and wondered what the heck that’s all about? We’re here to help.

Ah, yes. TikTok trends. Sometimes, they’re hilarious. Other times, very weird. And in this case? I’m going to go ahead and say this ventures into dangerous territory.

This all has to do with something called Pink Sauce, and how people are buying it and it looks like Pepto Bismol but it goes on food … let’s just dive in:

‘His talent level is a 10 but …’ NBA rookies try a hoops version of the viral TikTok meme

Players at the NBA Draft gave absolutely fascinating answers.

NEW YORK — Now that they’ve turned pro, NBA rookies are adjusting to their life with new teammates. No matter the team, it’s a major transition.

Some of their new teammates will be easier to adjust to than others. As for what qualities each player is looking for, though, that depends on the individual. How frustrating would it be to play with someone who never passes you the ball? Is it all right if your new colleague is hard to be around if he is still very good at basketball?

For The Win was invited to attend the red carpet of the 2022 NBA Draft at Barclays Center. While there, we had the unique opportunity to ask several players these questions.

To do this, we tried a hoops-specific version of the viral TikTok trend that uses a 1-to-10 rating scale to start conversations about dating standards. The original idea stemmed from two sisters having silly discussions comparing characteristics and traits.

With our version of the game, for example, we asked rookies how much they would enjoy playing with someone if their talent level was 10 out of 10, but they never passed the ball. What would their teammate rating be?

Below, you can read and watch the best answers from the 2022 NBA Draft rookie class:

Why the Reds have Joey Votto’s TikTok to thank for 9th inning rally over Yankees

Budding TikTok star Joey Votto needs to post more.

The Cincinnati Reds are in competition for the worst team in baseball. Only two teams — the Nationals and Athletics — have fewer wins than Cincinnati’s 33.

However, after rallying from a 3-0 hole in the ninth inning Tuesday against the Yankees, who have the best record in the majors, the Reds are on a season-long five-game winning streak. And they might have budding TikTok star Joey Votto to thank for that.

The Reds don’t win a lot, but they’re undefeated when Votto posts to TikTok. After last night’s win, they’re 4-0 in games after he posts to the social media platform.

Bettors, take note.

Josh Giddey claps back at Sixers broadcaster following team’s playoff elimination

This is what happens when you get on the bad side of arguably the best TikTokers in the NBA.

Oklahoma City Thunder rookie guard Josh Giddey took to TikTok to roast the Philadelphia 76ers following their Game 6 loss to the Miami Heat on Thursday.

Giddey’s TikTok video includes him playing the clip of the Sixers broadcaster who said he “could care less” about Giddey after Joel Embiid fell on him on a block during a game this past October. Giddey would proceed to use the “be careful what you wish for, Parker” soundbite from Stephen Strange in the “Spider-Man: No Way Home” film followed by highlights clips of Giddey that he would nod with acceptance.

It’s hilariously petty that Giddey waited seven months to clap back and shows that the 19-year-old guard isn’t afraid to hold grudges for a long period of time. Giddey’s timing, like his passes, were perfect in this instance as he waited until the Sixers were at their lowest point this season following a disappointing second round exit.

Food TikTokers You Should Know: The Crazy Comedian Vintage Recipe Tester

It’s not unusual to find people on TikTok or Instagram putting old recipes to the test – often with great trepidation. It is unusual to find someone who combines the zinging one-liners of Rodney Dangerfield with the oddball charisma of Ed Grimley …

It’s not unusual to find people on TikTok or Instagram putting old recipes to the test — often with great trepidation. It is unusual to find someone who combines the zinging one-liners of Rodney Dangerfield with the oddball charisma of Ed Grimley (Martin Short circa 1984) or Pee-Wee Herman (Paul Reubens circa 1983).

Meet B. Dylan Hollis, a man who may not need much introduction based on the size of his followings: He has 8.2 million TikTok followers, 1.1 million subscribers on Youtube, and 396,000 followers on Instagram (no recipe testing here, just pics and videos, sometimes playing the accordion). His recipe-testing videos are universally short and generally follow the same template:

  • screaming recitation of the recipe name and era when it was created
  • joke about said name of dish or concept
  • jiggling pompadour a la Conan O’Brien
  • incredulity when reading certain ingredients
  • sour face when tasting the abomination he’s made

But Hollis is not just making fun of old recipes. He clearly knows his subject; he’s finding these arcane recipes somewhere (he collects them apparently) and he’s genuinely taking the time to test them out, one by one  — since 2020 as far as we can tell. It’s hard to deny his charisma; his eyebrows have a life of their own, the double entendres fly, and the pace is rapid-fire.

Below, I’ve selected three recipes that demonstrate his skills. You’ll get the idea 10 seconds into any of them. But I bet you’ll click to see a second one too.

LL Cool J explaining his wild behavior in 90’s music videos is exactly what you need to see today

You absolutely need to hear LL’s explanation about why he washed a woman’s hair in the shower while fully clothed. It’s great.

LL Cool J was a wild boy, man. And I mean that in the most endearing way possible.

He didn’t do anything wrong, really. His music videos were just so wild back in the day.

For those of you who aren’t hip, there’s a lingering conversation on the internet that pops up every once in a while is the one about LL Cool J in his music videos. He used to just wild out a little bit.

There’s the ‘Paradise’ video, for example, where he emerges from some water with a whole Kangol hat on somehow. There was also that one time in the ‘Loungin’ video where he poured chocolate syrup on a woman’s knee…while she was sitting on the hood of a car in the middle of New York City. The man even washed a woman’s hair while fully clothed in the shower in a Babyface video.

Dude was wild. That’s all there is to it. And, as fans, we’ve always had questions about how these things came about and, well, why?

LL finally gave us answers and they were perfect answers.

WARNING: There is some NSFW language included in this video

“Ah, it’s time to break the silence. Yeah, I was definitely ridiculous. That’s my goal.”

We’re off to an amazing start. Then he broke into his first explanation — playing the guitar on a woman’s leg.

“Playing the guitar on a young lady’s leg. My father always said, when I asked him if he worked out, he said ‘the heaviest thing I lift is a leg.’ I always loved that.”

Word, word. OK. Got you. What about that time with the chocolate syrup, LL? How do you explain that one?

“Definitely was wylin. Although, I always felt there should’ve been more chocolate. Maybe using a giant paint brush or something and just really go in.”

Alright, word. Glad we agree that you were definitely wylin. Chocolate and heat do not mix, buddy. But how about that time you told us your hat was like a shark fin?

Everybody knows my hat is like a shark fin. You know, bald head and all that. You know what I’m saying? Cut through the concrete…Yeah, I love it. Shark week, baby. I love the sharks. It’s what I do. Hat is like a shark fin — no question about it.”

As a fellow bald man, I cannot relate. But I am very happy for you, LL.

Anyway, y’all get the picture by now. As unhinged as these videos were, LL’s explanations were just as wild which was absolutely perfect and also necessary. So necessary it needed two parts.

LL fans absolutely loved this, man. And I can’t say I blame them. This was phenomenal.
