Tom Brady completely stunned golf fans with a miracle shot out of nowhere

The best comeback of Tom Brady’s career was on the golf course.

As we have pointed out numerous times today, Tom Brady was so bad at golf during much of Sunday’s The Match that people made charitable offers just to make him play less terribly.

He couldn’t do anything right for six holes — he looked completely out of place — but then something weird happened … Tom Brady pulled off THE SHOT of the event.

On his fourth shot (the graphic incorrectly says third) on the seventh hole, Brady birdied the Par 5 from well over 100 yards out. Considering how poor he looked in the first six holes, this was the best comeback of his career. The Falcons are now off the hook.

I mean, look at this shot.

Seriously, he did this shot just moments earlier. Nothing makes sense.

No wonder golf fans couldn’t believe what they just witnessed.

Golf is such a weird game, and it’s magical.

Sean Payton obliterated Tom Brady for his major struggles at The Match

OUCH.

It didn’t take long to arrive at the reasonable conclusion that Tom Brady is bad at golf. Well, at least relative to his competition.

While Peyton Manning held his own for much of The Match on Sunday alongside Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson, Brady looked like a casual golfer who’d brag about breaking 100. Nothing was going well for Brady. Sure, he was playing in the rain, on national television and with two golf greats. But he struggled to put together a competent shot.

It got to the point where celebrities were calling in to the broadcast just to offer donations in hopes of Brady doing something, anything good on the golf course. Brooks Koepka offered $100,000 if Brady could make a par.

But not everyone was feeling bad for Brady. His new NFC South rival, Saints head coach Sean Payton, particularly enjoyed watching Brady struggle in Florida.

That man has a family, Sean!

OK, maybe he had a good point.

Charles Barkley and Tom Brady had a great exchange after a $50K bet went awry

Rough go for Tom Brady.

If you’re going to be fair to Tom Brady, it would be important to point out that he’s an amateur golfer who was tasked with playing golf in the rain on a tough course alongside two of the best golfers on the planet … all in front of a national TV audience.

It should be expected for him to struggle mightily.

But he’s also Tom Brady, so very few golf fans had sympathy.

As Brady struggled during Sunday’s The Match, Charles Barkley — who was part of the broadcast — hoped to give Brady some encouragement by telling him he’d donate $50,000 to Brady’s charity if he could get his tee shot on the green. The offer wasn’t meant to make fun of the struggling Brady but rather give him more incentive to focus on the shot.

About that …

Brady didn’t just fail to get his shot on the green — he didn’t come close. But the exchange after the shot made for some excellent television.

Brady said, “Chuck, you saved yourself $50,000.”

To which Barkley responded, “Woof. You know, Tom, I should’ve just said if you can just keep it on the planet.”

Poor Tom. Golf clearly isn’t his game.

Peyton Manning hilariously rejected a request to wear matching outfits with Tiger Woods

He was not wearing red and black.

For his entire golf career, Tiger Woods has taken the course on Sundays wearing red and black. It’s a look that is basically synonymous with Tiger’s legendary career.

Well, just don’t expect Peyton Manning to rock the same look.

Peyton and Tiger were teamed up for Sunday’s The Match against Phil Mickelson and Tom Brady at the Medalist Golf Club. And while Phil and Brady wore matching navy outfits, teammates Peyton and Tiger weren’t matching at all. Tiger was wearing his Sunday reds, and Peyton wore a pink shirt.

During the second hole, though, Peyton said he was actually asked to wear red and black like Tiger. He turned down that request for the most SEC of reasons.

Peyton, who went to Tennessee, didn’t want to give Georgia Bulldogs fans the satisfaction of seeing him in red and black. The decision was entirely fueled by his commitment to SEC rivalries — nothing else.

But hey, you have to appreciate that kind of foresight from Peyton. I’m sure Georgia would have been all over that color combination.

Peyton Manning’s start to The Match was so bad that he changed his hat after one hole

The hat worked.

Sunday’s The Match presented an intriguing matchup between two of the best golfers around and teamed them up with all-time great quarterbacks who happened to be mediocre golfers.

We had Tiger Woods with Peyton Manning go up against Phil Mickelson and Tom Brady. And it became undeniably clear that Manning is a much better football player than he is a golfer. Just look at his first shot.

Manning’s opening tee shot at Medalist Golf Club was so bad that he eventually felt the need to change hats. Manning was wearing a white hat on the first hole. And as you can see, he nearly lost the ball off the tee.

On the second hole, Manning changed to a dark NOLA hat.

And, of course, Manning’s second hole went much better with him finding the fairway. It always works out that way.

It must be the hat.

Russell Wilson posts hilarious ‘Happy Gilmore’ spoof to roast Tom Brady

Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson posted a hilarious video on Twitter as a way to talk some friendly trash to Tom Brady.

Tom Brady and Phil Mickelson are taking on Peyton Manning and Tiger Woods today in The Match: Champions for Charity.

The event itself is sure to provide entertainment and plenty of friendly trash talking between the competitors.

But, it seems the trash talking will extend beyond the golf course, too, at least in the case of Tom Brady. Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson posted the hilarious video below on Twitter, spoofing off an infamous scene from the movie “Happy Gilmore.” Aside from the terrible dubbing, it’s fantastic.

Take a look.

Brady, of course, still gets the last laugh, as his Patriots shocked Russell Wilson and the Seahawks in Super Bowl XLIX thanks to Malcolm Butler’s game-saving interception at the goal line.

Golf fans all made the same ‘Caddyshack’ joke about heavy rain at The Match

I’d keep playing.

Given how 2020 has played out, we probably should have seen this one coming.

Sunday was supposed to be the day that Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Peyton Manning and Tom Brady squared off in The Match, a televised charity event to raise money to support efforts related to the coronavirus pandemic. For the first time in what seemed like forever, there was a U.S. sporting event that you could mark your calendar to watch.

But the weather had other plans — at least temporarily.

The event at Medalist Golf Club in Hobe Sound, Fla., was delayed due to rain and honestly the conditions on the course didn’t look great.

Yet, even under soggy conditions and the prospect of a postponement, golf fans made light of the delay. They responded to photos of the flooded greens by making the same joke from Caddyshack. It was inevitable.

I’d keep playing.

Phil Mickelson says he has the winning formula for ‘The Match: Champions for Charity’

Phil Mickelson thinks he know the secret formula to defeating Tiger Woods and Peyton Manning in The Match: Champions for Charity.

At first glance, it appears Tiger Woods and Peyton Manning have the edge in The Match: Champions for Charity. Oddsmakers say so.

Think again.

Phil Mickelson touted he has the winning formula for Sunday’s charity match at Medalist Golf Club in Hobe Sound, Florida, and it’s not just hitting bombs. It’s a bit more mathematical.

C² = B + HS = I + V

What?

Mickelson, a five-time major winner and World Golf Hall of Famer who’s partnered with six-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady at Medalist, explained his formula for success in a video posted on Twitter ahead of Sunday’s match.

“Well ‘C²’ stands for ‘coffee.’ Not just any coffee wit sugar and crap. No. It’s coffee for wellness with good stuff that gets your body to function right and your brain to function right,” Mickleson explained. “You couple that with ‘calves’, you have exponential performance. That equals B + HS which is ‘bombs’ and ‘hellacious seeds’ which equals I and V, ‘intimidation’ and ‘victory.’

“And that is how Tom Brady and I are going to come home with yet again, another belt from The Match.”

No word yet on if Brady is on board with this formula.

Mickelson won the first match against Tiger Woods in 2018.

In his video, Mickelson explained a hellacious seed is a “screaming, low, hot runner” which will do well against Woods’ “cute” stingers.

“A hellacious seed is going by a stinger so fast like you can’t even really wave. Like if you were to put your hand out the window, you would blow your hand back so fast it would hurt… Hellacious seeds are so hot and long,” Mickelson explained.

The Match: Champions for Charity is expected to begin at 3 p.m. ET Sunday afternoon, but the Hobe Sound area is forecast to experience thunderstorms all afternoon.
