LSU ranked No. 2 in Baseball America’s preseason top 25

It is going to be another great season to be at Alex Box Stadium.

Baseball America has released its 2024 preseason top 25 and the defending national champions find themselves inside the top five of the initial rankings.

[autotag]Jay Johnson[/autotag] and the LSU Tigers are ranked as the No. 2 team in the country by Baseball America. That puts the Tigers just behind the Wake Forest Demon Deacons and just ahead of the Arkansas Razorbacks and the Florida Gators.

LSU had to beat all three of those teams en route to their 2023 national championship.

LSU lost two of their star players from the 2023 team as [autotag]Paul Skenes[/autotag] and [autotag]Dylan Crews[/autotag] were drafted at No. 1 and No. 2 overall in the 2023 MLB draft. The Tigers lost those two and more impact players but they have a few stars returning.

[autotag]Tommy White[/autotag] is back at third base, [autotag]Thatcher Hurd[/autotag] is back on the mound as the Tigers’ ace and [autotag]Jared Jones[/autotag] is back at first base.

It is going to be another great season to be at Alex Box Stadium.

Four Tigers make Perfect Game’s top 100 juniors list

Tommy White, Thatcher Hurd, Luke Holman and Gage Jump all find themselves in the top 50 of the star-studded list.

Perfect Game has recently announced its top 100 juniors list as we head into the 2024 baseball season and four Tigers made the top 50 of that list.

[autotag]Tommy White[/autotag], [autotag]Thatcher Hurd[/autotag], [autotag]Luke Holman[/autotag] and [autotag]Gage Jump[/autotag] all find themselves in the Top 50 of the star-studded list.

What more can I say about Tommy Tanks that hasn’t already been said? He came to Baton Rouge with an amount of hype that not many players could have handled yet he exceeded expectations.

Hurd had a rough start to his 2023 campaign but Jay Johnson never gave up on him and it paid off as Hurd got the win Game 3 of the College World Series to take down the Gators.

Holman and Jump are both new in Baton Rouge but they will serve as two of the starting pitchers for the Tigers this Spring.

LSU has No. 2 transfer class according to D1Baseball

Jay Johnson signed seven players out of the transfer portal to join the 2024 baseball team.

[autotag]Jay Johnson[/autotag] signed seven players out of the transfer portal to join the 2024 baseball team. Those recruits were some of the best in the country. That is why D1Baseball has the Tigers ranked as the No. 2 transfer portal class in the country.

LSU signed [autotag]Michael Braswell III[/autotag], [autotag]Mac Bingham[/autotag], [autotag]Luke Holman[/autotag], [autotag]Gage Jump[/autotag], [autotag]Justin Loer[/autotag], [autotag]Fidel Ullola[/autotag] and [autotag]Kade Woods[/autotag] to the 2024 team out of the transfer portal. Most of those guys will play a huge role in LSU being able to defend their national championship.

Holman and Jump are projected to be two of LSU’s starting pitchers this season. Those two will join [autotag]Thatcher Hurd[/autotag] to make one of the best pitching rotations in all of college baseball. Bingham may be a day-one starter in the outfield for the Tigers after spending his past few seasons at Arizona.

Woods and Braswell were transfers from SEC schools that will play a big role on the infield.

Where does LSU rank in Perfect Game’s preseason top 25?

Jay Johnson and the LSU Tigers are getting ready to defend their national title.

College baseball season is right around the corner, and [autotag]Jay Johnson[/autotag] and the LSU Tigers are getting ready to defend their national title.

Perfect Game has released their preseason top 25 before the season gets here. Where do the reigning national champs land on the poll?

LSU will start off the 2024 season as the No. 3 team in the country according to Perfect Game. The Tigers find themselves behind two teams that they beat in 2023. Wake Forest, whom LSU beat in the College World Series, and Arkansas, whom LSU won a series against during the season, are No. 1 and No. 2 on Perfect Game’s poll.

On Friday, Perfect Game named [autotag]Tommy White[/autotag] and [autotag]Luke Holman[/autotag] as Preseason All-Americans. Those two players will be pivotal to LSU’s success this year. [autotag]Thatcher Hurd[/autotag] returns to the team as well as some new faces straight out of high school in what could be another great season at Alex Box Stadium.

LOOK: LSU unveils new national championship billboard at Alex Box Stadium

LSU has unveiled a new “intimidator” billboard in right field.

LSU baseball has unveiled a new “intimidator” billboard in right field. The new billboard shows off the new national championship that the Tigers won in 2023.

It was the seventh national championship LSU has won in school history. The Tigers won it all in 1991. 1993, 1996, 1997, 2000, 2009 and 2023.

[autotag]Jay Johnson[/autotag] and the LSU Tigers will start their title defense on February 16th against VMI at Alex Box Stadium. The Tigers will play VMI and Central Arkansas in a four-day span to start the season off. [autotag]Tommy White[/autotag] and a few other starters return from last year’s team and Johnson recruited very well in the transfer portal and with high school kids to help reload the team.

[autotag]Luke Holman[/autotag] has transferred to LSU from Alabama and [autotag]Gage Jump[/autotag] has transferred to LSU from UCLA. Those two guys will join [autotag]Thatcher Hurd[/autotag] to make what could be one of the most dominant starting rotations in the SEC.

LSU pitcher named as one of the top 10 transfers by Baseball America

Luke Holman finished 2023 with a 7-4 record and a 3.67 ERA in 81 innings pitched.

Baseball America released its list of the top 10 transfers heading into this season, and there is one LSU Tiger that made the list. [autotag]Luke Holman[/autotag], a right-handed pitcher who transferred to Baton Rouge from Alabama was listed as the No. 8 player in the top 10.

Holman served as the ace for the Alabama Crimson Tide last season and he was slated to start Game 1 against the Tigers at The Box, but then the gambling debacle happened and Holman was scratched from starting. That led to former Alabama head coach Brad Bohannon being fired and Holman entering the transfer portal.

Holman finished 2023 with a 7-4 record and a 3.67 ERA in 81 innings pitched. He struck out 87 hitters and opposing batters had a season batting average of .186 against him.

Holman will be a starter for the defending national champion LSU Tigers this spring. Where he is in the rotation remains to be seen as [autotag]Thatcher Hurd[/autotag] returns after a stellar end to the 2023 season.

WATCH: LSU baseball reminisces on 2023 national championship

There are only 50 more days until opening day for college baseball.

There are only 50 more days until opening day for college baseball. The LSU Tigers will start their national title defense on Feb. 16, against VMI. The Tigers will play in a four-game weekend series as they take on VMI twice and Central Arkansas twice at Alex Box Stadium.

While LSU no longer has [autotag]Paul Skenes[/autotag] and [autotag]Dylan Crews[/autotag] (who went No. 1 and No. 2 overall in the 2023 MLB draft), [autotag]Jay Johnson[/autotag] has assembled a very talented team through high school recruiting and via the transfer portal. [autotag]Tommy White[/autotag] is back and he is here to hit homers once again. [autotag]Thatcher Hurd[/autotag] is back ready to deal out some nasty pitches as well.

LSU finished 2023 with a 54-17 overall record and a 19-10 record in conference play. The Tigers won the national championship after taking two out of three games from the Florida Gators in the College World Series. I think LSU has a great shot at doing it again this year.

Two Tigers make MLB Pipeline’s initial first-round mock draft

MLB Pipeline has released its first mock for the 2024 MLB draft, and two LSU Tigers have made the first round.

MLB Pipeline has released its first mock for the 2024 MLB draft, and two LSU Tigers have made the first round. One of them is a superstar third baseman and the other is a pitcher that had a great performance in Omaha.

With the 10th overall pick of the 2024 MLB Draft, MLB Pipeline has the Washington Nationals selecting [autotag]Tommy White[/autotag], a third baseman from LSU. I guess the Nationals are just going to try to make a team full of LSU players as the Nats took [autotag]Dylan Crews[/autotag] and [autotag]Gavin Dugas[/autotag] in the 2023 MLB draft. White was a transfer from NC State where his claim to fame was hitting a lot of homers. That mantra lived on in Baton Rouge last spring.

With the 18th pick of the 2024 MLB draft, MLB Pipeline has the Tampa Bay Rays taking [autotag]Thatcher Hurd[/autotag], a right-handed pitcher from LSU. Hurd was a transfer from UCLA who took his lumps at the start of the 2023 season but wound up as one of the best pitchers in LSU’s rotation. He put on a show in Omaha that helped lead LSU to a national championship.

Two LSU Tigers make Perfect Game’s 2024 MLB mock draft

Perfect Game has released its latest mock for the 2024 MLB draft and two LSU baseball players have made the list.

Perfect Game has released its latest mock for the 2024 MLB draft and two LSU baseball players have made the list.

[autotag]Tommy White[/autotag] and [autotag]Thatcher Hurd[/autotag] are both projected to get drafted near the end of the first round of the MLB draft. Tommy Tanks transferred to LSU last season after breaking the single-season home run record for NC State as a freshman. White had a phenomenal year in Baton Rouge as he finished with a .374 batting average with 24 doubles, 24 homers and 105 RBI.

Hurd emerged as a star pitcher for the Tigers midway through the season and he hurled a gem in the College World Series against Wake Forest and Florida. He had a 2-0 record with a 2.25 ERA in Omaha as he gave up three runs over 12 innings pitched and struck out 13 hitters and walked six.

Both of these guys will be big contributors for the Tigers this spring as they look to defend their national title.
