The Broncos brought in one running back, one tight end and five cornerbacks for tryouts last week.

Seven players tried out for the Denver Broncos last week.

After bringing in running back Hassan Hall and tight end John Samuel Shenker for tryouts on Tuesday, the Broncos also brought in five cornerbacks for tryouts on Friday.

Denver hosted Caleb Biggers, Zyon Gilbert, Thakarius “BoPete” Keyes, Duron Lowe, and Reese Taylor at their UCHealth Training Center on Oct. 20.

Biggers (5-10, 202 pounds) played college football at Boise State and signed with the Cleveland Browns as an undrafted free agent this spring. He was cut by the Browns when they set their 53-man roster this summer.

Gilbert (6-0, 193 pounds) played at Florida Atlantic before signing with the New York Giants as a college free agent in 2022. He appeared in three games last season (including one start) and totaled 14 tackles and a sack.

Keyes (6-1, 200 pounds) was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in the seventh round of the 2020 NFL draft out of Tulane. Since then, he has spent time with eight NFL teams, marking appearances in 13 games.

Lowe (5-10, 190 pounds) played college football at Liberty and signed with the Los Angeles Rams as an undrafted free agent last year. He more recent spent time with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Chiefs.

Taylor (5-9, 188 pounds) signed with Kansas City as a college free agent out of Purdue this spring, but he failed to make their 53-man roster in August.

At the time of publication, none of the seven players who tried out for the Broncos have been signed.

Another day, another defensive back for the Cleveland Browns. As they get set to report to training camp in just 16 days, the Browns have added another cornerback to their 90-man roster, signing free agent Thakarius Keyes (reported by Cleveland dot com’s Mary Kay Cabot).

Keyes, a Tulane prospect, was a seventh round draft pick of the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2020 NFL draft but lasted just one season there. He has since bounced around the NFL as the Browns make the eighth team Keyes has played for entering just his fourth season.

Looking like nothing more than a camp body in a deep cornerback room, the Browns continue to churn their 90-man roster.

After yesterday’s release of defensive tackle Jalen Dalton, the Carolina Panthers are entering mandatory minicamp on Tuesday one player short of a full 90-man roster. But they could have No. 90 on hand this week.

Per team reporter Darin Gantt, the Panthers are expected to host three tryout players for the upcoming practice sessions. The trio includes tight end Jordan Matthews and cornerbacks Greg Mabin and Thakarius “BoPete” Keyes.

Matthews, a former wide receiver, was a second-round pick of the Philadelphia Eagles back in 2014. The distant relative of Pro Football Hall of Famer Jerry Rice, the 6-foot-3, 215-pounder has officially played eight seasons in the NFL.

His last stop came with the San Francisco 49ers, a run that ended in the summer of 2022 following a torn ACL. Matthews, in addition to a pair of runs in both Philly and San Fran, has also picked up stints for the Buffalo Bills and New England Patriots.

Mabin—6-foot-2, 200 pounds—entered the league as an undrafted free agent in 2017. He appeared in six games for the Tennessee Titans this past season.

Keyes—6-foot-1, 202 pounds—was a seventh-round pick of the Kansas City Chiefs in 2020. His last NFL snap came in 2021.

Colts waive CBs Marvell Tell, Andre Chachere

Colts waived CBs Marvell Tell, Andre Chachere on Wednesday.

The Indianapolis Colts waived cornerbacks Marvell Tell III and Andre Chachere, the team announced Wednesday.

These moves come in correspondence with the additions from the waiver wire on Wednesday. After the Colts cut their roster down to 53 players on Tuesday, they made a pair of waiver claims by bringing in cornerbacks Thakarius Keyes (from KC) and Chris Wilcox (from TB).

Tell was a fifth-round pick in the 2019 NFL draft. He showed flashes late in his rookie season but wound up opting out of the 2020 season due to COVID-19 concerns. He struggled during the preseason and with two more cornerbacks coming in, the Colts part ways with a former draft pick. That said, he could be a candidate for the practice squad if he clears waivers.

Chachere initially made the 53-man roster as a versatile piece in the secondary and like rotational safety behind starters Khari Willis and Julian Blackmon. He had a strong preseason and could be a candidate for the practice squad.

Colts claim CBs Thakarius Keyes, Chris Wilcox following roster cuts

The Colts claimed CBs Thakarius Keyes and Chris Wilcox off waivers following roster cuts.

The Indianapolis Colts claimed cornerbacks Chris Wilcox and Thakarius Keyes off of the waiver wire following Tuesday’s roster cutdown day, per Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.

Keyes, 23, was a seventh-round pick with the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2020 NFL draft. He played in eight games with the Chiefs during his rookie season but was waived on Tuesday at the roster deadline.

Wilcox, 23, was a seventh-round pick with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 2021 NFL draft. He spent the offseason with the Buccaneers after spending his collegiate years at BYU.

The Colts will have to make corresponding moves to make room for the pair of cornerbacks on the roster.

None of the players the Colts waived on Tuesday were claimed by other teams.
