  • Money line: Texas Tech +115 (bet $100 to win $115) | Texas -140 (bet $140 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Texas Tech +2.5 (-120) | Texas -2.5 (+100)
  • Over/Under: 131.5 (O: -115 | U: -105)

Texas Tech at Texas: Three things to know

  1. Texas Tech won four of its last five games, including a 27-point romping over Iowa State its last time out but, it was Texas Tech’s first time covering the spread in eight games. The Red Raiders are one of the best defensive teams in the nation; Texas Tech ranks seventh in points per game allowed (58.0) and is holding opponents to just 39.0% shooting.
  2. Texas has rattled off six straight wins after being defeated by one of the three teams ahead of it in the coaches poll (a 68-64 loss to Villanova Dec. 6) but, the Longhorns covered the spread in only three of those wins. Texas went into Morgantown and beat a then-No. 16 West Virginia team 72-70 as s 1.5-point underdog this past Saturday.
  3. Texas Tech-Texas split last year’s season series 1-1 straight up and against the spread. The Longhorns’ 68-58 win in their last meeting in February snapped a five-game losing skid to the Red Raiders.

Texas Tech at Texas: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Texas Tech 64, Texas 60

Money line (ML)

I’ll sprinkle on TEXAS TECH (+115) for a half-unit. Texas has been flying a little too close to the sun with some of its wins and is due to regress in the Big 12 standings. The Red Raiders know how to go into Austin and beat their conference rival, as Texas Tech has won its last two visits to Texas.

Against the spread (ATS)

GIMME TEXAS TECH +2.5 (-120) for 1 unit. It’s hard to poke holes in Texas’ 2020-21 resume but there are a couple of troubling matchup stats coming into this game. Texas averages more turnovers than assists and Texas Tech’s defense has the seventh-highest turnover percentage in the nation.

The Longhorns have coasted too easily with sloppy ball movement and it’ll catch up to them against a Red Raiders team that forces opposing offenses to make mistakes.

Over/Under (O/U)

Each team has played in four consecutive games that have gone Over the total so this is a good time to buy stock in the UNDER 131.5 (-105). Both teams are also below-average in pace of play.

I’d only place a tiny wager on the Under though because it’s a small total that could go Over at the foul line with both teams below-average in opponent’s free throw rate. You’d think this would be a hotly contested conference battle so we could see some time spent at the charity stripe.

Texas Tech at Iowa State odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Saturday’s Texas Tech Red Raiders at Iowa State Cyclones sports betting odds and lines, with college basketball betting picks, tips and predictions.

In Saturday’s action, the 19th-ranked Texas Tech Red Raiders (9-3, 2-2 Big 12) face the Iowa State Cyclones (2-6, 0-4) at Hilton Coliseum in Ames, Iowa for a 4 p.m. ET tip-off. Below, we analyze the Texas Tech-Iowa State college basketball betting odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Rankings courtesy of Ferris Mowers Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

Texas Tech at Iowa State: Betting odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 6:15 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Texas Tech -350 (bet $350 to win $100) | Iowa State +280 (bet $100 to win $280)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Texas Tech -7.5 (-110) | Iowa State +7.5 (-110)
  • Over/Under: 134.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

Texas Tech at Iowa State: Three things to know

  1. The Red Raiders have posted a 7-2 SU mark across their past nine games overall, and one loss was an overtime setback against Oklahoma State, and the other was a one-point loss against Kansas. However, the Red Raiders do enter play on an 0-7 ATS slide.
  2. Iowa State is skidding lately, dropping each of its first four conference games, while winning just once in the past seven overall. Both of their wins this season have come against SWAC teams Jackson State and Arkansas-Pine Bluff. The Under has connected in three of the past four, and they’re 3-1 ATS in the past four overall.
  3. Texas Tech’s defense has been tremendous this season, allowing just 57.5 PPG to rank sixth in the country. They’re also 22nd in the nation with a 38.5 defensive field-goal percentage allowed, with the opposition hitting 3-pointers at a 29.2 percent clip.

Texas Tech at Iowa State: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Texas Tech 72, Iowa State 59

Money line (ML)

Texas Tech (-350) will cost you three and a half times your potential return. While they’re easily the better team here, there is just little reason to risk $3.50 for every $1 won. Look to the spread instead. AVOID.

Against the spread (ATS)

TEXAS TECH -7.5 (-110) is the way to go despite the fact the Red Raiders haven’t covered in seven straight dating back to Dec. 6 against Grambling State.

The favorite has cashed in four of the past five in this series, and TTU is more than overdue to end their skid against the number. Plus, Iowa State +7.5 (-110) is just 1-5 ATS in the past six at home, and 5-16 ATS in their past 21 following a cover in their previous outing.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 134.5 (-110) is the lean, as the Red Raiders defense has been tremendous this season. They should give the struggling Cyclones fits, even on the home floor of Iowa State. The Cyclones have scored 65 or fewer points in four of the past five games, and they have hit the Under in three of the past four, too.

Kansas State at Texas Tech odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Tuesday’s Kansas State Wildcats at Texas Tech Red Raiders sports betting odds and lines, with college basketball betting picks, tips and predictions.

In Tuesday’s action the Kansas State Wildcats (5-6, 1-2 Big 12) face the No. 19 Texas Tech Red Raiders (8-3, 1-2) for a 7 p.m. ET tip at United Supermarkets Arena in Lubbock, Texas.

Below, we analyze the Kansas State-Texas Tech college basketball betting odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Rankings courtesy of USA TODAY Sports Men’s Basketball Coaches Poll.

Kansas State at Texas Tech: Betting odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 5:53 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Kansas State +1200 (bet $100 to win $1,200) | Texas Tech -3000 (bet $3,000 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Kansas State +16.5 (-110) | Texas Tech -16.5 (-110)
  • Over/Under: 125.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

Kansas State at Texas Tech: Three things to know

  1. The Red Raiders are looking to bounce back from Saturday’s 82-77 overtime loss at home against Oklahoma State. It was their second loss in the past four games, although the first loss Dec. 17 was a one-point setback to Kansas. The Red Raiders enter on an 0-6 ATS skid.
  2. Texas Tech enters play 0-5 ATS in five games as a favorite of 25 or less points this season, and it is 3-2 SU in those outings. The Red Raiders also 0-3 ATS inside the conference. Kansas State hasn’t been much better against the number, going 2-8 ATS so far this season, and just 1-2 ATS inside the conference.
  3. The Wildcats are coming off a 67-60 loss against TCU in Manhattan, Kan., as 4-point underdogs, hitting the Under (131). The Under has connected in three straight for K-State. The Wildcats are also just 1-4 ATS in the past five against teams with a winning overall record.

Kansas State at Texas Tech: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Texas Tech 71, Kansas State 57

Money line (ML)

Texas Tech (-3000) should have no problems with Kansas State, but there is no way to ever justify risking 30 times your potential return. It’s amateur hour, and a failing long-term strategy. AVOID.

Against the spread (ATS)

KANSAS STATE +16.5 (-110) has struggled to cover the number this season, but Texas Tech has also failed to cash consistently – its 0-6 ATS slide was mentioned above. The Red Raiders are averaging just 73.5 PPG to rank 161st in the country, so covering a number this high is just not a good bet. Take the underdog catching more than eight buckets.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 125.5 (-110) is worth a small-unit play, as the line is just a tad bit too low. Yes, the Red Raiders aren’t exactly lighting it up on offense, but they are hitting a decent 73.5 PPG. The Red Raiders are allowing just 56.3 PPG this season, which ranks fifth in the country in scoring defense. Even so, the Red Raiders will do enough on offense to help this total inch across the finish line for a narrow Over result.

Texas Tech at Oklahoma State odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Saturday’s Texas Tech Red Raiders at Oklahoma State Cowboys sports betting odds and lines, with college football betting picks, tips and predictions.

The Oklahoma State Cowboys (5-2 overall, 4-2 Big 12) host the Texas Tech Red Raiders (3-5, 2-5) in a conference game Saturday at Boone Pickens Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for noon ET. Below, we analyze the Texas Tech-Oklahoma State college football betting odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

The Cowboys are No. 22 overall in the Amway Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

Texas Tech at Oklahoma State: Betting odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. ET.

  • Money line: Texas Tech +300 (bet $100 to win $300) | Oklahoma State -385 (bet $385 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Texas Tech +11 (-121) | Oklahoma State -11 (-100)
  • Over/Under: 55.5 (O: -106 | U: -115)

Texas Tech at Oklahoma State: Three things to know

  1. Texas Tech had a bye last week following a 24-23 home win vs. Baylor Nov. 14 as a 1-point underdog.
  2. Oklahoma State got trounced in the Bedlam game against Oklahoma 41-13 last week. The Cowboys were outgained by 246 total yards, started the game down 21-0 and never really had a chance to win.
  3. The Red Raiders have beaten the Cowboys in back-to-back games and have covered five of six meetings, including four straight ATS wins.

Texas Tech at Oklahoma State: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Oklahoma State 28, Texas Tech 24

Money line (ML)

It’s difficult backing a double-digit favorite that consistently hurts its own chances as much as Oklahoma State. The Cowboys are minus-4 in turnover differential, 102nd in penalties committed per game and are ranked 115th in havoc allowed. Also, this is an awesome spot for Texas Tech.

First of all, I wonder if there is a hangover effect for Oklahoma State after getting punched in the mouth on national TV against in-state rival Oklahoma? Oklahoma State has dropped both its games to Big 12 powerhouses—Texas and Oklahoma—and will need some help to get into the conference title game.

Second, Texas Tech has played really well vs. Oklahoma State recently (see above) and head coach Matt Wells is 9-2 over his career in games immediately following a bye week, which includes his six years at Utah State.

There’s a legitimate shot Texas Tech pulls off an outright upset, but it is getting too many points and I am hitting the Red Raiders plus points harder. I lean TEXAS TECH (+300) for a quarter-unit.

Against the spread (ATS)

Most of the ATS handicap is in the money line section, but obviously, we are betting TEXAS TECH +11 (-121). However, I’d wait until the vig was reduced regardless of which way this number goes. Obviously, getting 11.5 points is preferable, but as long as we don’t procrastinate too long and this number drops to an even 10, it would be the worth the wait.

Additionally, the line movement gives me more confidence in Texas Tech. Oklahoma State opened up as a 12.5-point favorite, but the line has dropped despite 97% of the money and 89% of the bets placed are on the Cowboys, according to Pregame.com.

The Underdog is 4-0 ATS in their last 4 meetings (all Texas Tech covers) and the road team is 5-2 ATS in the last 7 meetings. I am not really a trends bettor, but that intel makes me feel better about backing the underdog. GIMME TEXAS TECH +11 (-121) for 1.5 units.

Over/Under (O/U)

Oklahoma State’s defense has been one of the better units in the country aside from its games against Texas and Oklahoma.

Also, Oklahoma State and Texas Tech’s combined Over/Under record is 5-10 O/U this season. However, the Over is 6-2 in the last 8 meetings and I don’t have a great feel for this total. PASS.

Texas Tech at TCU odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Saturday’s Texas Tech Red Raiders at TCU Horned Frogs sports betting odds and lines, with college football betting picks, tips and predictions.

The Texas Tech Red Raiders (2-4) visit the TCU Horned Frogs (2-3) for a 3:30 p.m. ET kickoff Saturday at Amon G. Carter Stadium. Below, we analyze the Texas Tech-TCU college football betting odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Texas Tech at TCU: Betting odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated Friday at 5:25 p.m. ET.

  • Money line: Texas Tech +260 (bet $100 to win $260) | TCU -334 (bet $1334 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Texas Tech +9.5 (-106) | TCU -9.5 (-115)
  • Over/Under: 61.5 (O: -106 | U: -115)

Texas Tech at TCU: Three things to know

  1. TCU visited Baylor and took care of business last week, beating the Bears 33-23 and covering the spread as 2.5-point road favorites. The Horned Frogs got out to a 30-0 first-half lead before taking their foot off the gas. TCU’s ground game was the deciding factor in the matchup as it rushed for 247 yards compared to Baylor’s 75 rushing yards.

  2. Texas Tech got crushed 62-28 by the Oklahoma Sooners last week. The Red Raiders were up 7-0 before Oklahoma scored six unanswered touchdowns, putting the game out of reach. Texas Tech didn’t help its own cause, committing 11 penalties for 85 yards and losing the turnover battle 3-0.

  3. These teams have played some strange head-to-head games over the years. Three of the last 10 Texas Tech-TCU contests have gone over 100 combined points. Four of the games have combined for 31, 30, 30 and 15 points. TCU won 33-31 last season, but these sides have split the previous four meetings.

Texas Tech at TCU: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

TCU 34, Texas Tech 17

Money line (ML)

TCU (-334) is the side I’m on in this one but I am not paying that price for the Horned Frogs. Texas Tech (+260) has won five of the last 10 meetings between these teams so an upset is not out of the question. Let’s hit TCU on the spread and PASS ON THE MONEY LINE.

Against the spread (ATS)

I have all the faith in the world that TCU -9.5 (-115) can get to 30 points in this game but I am not sure Texas Tech (+9.5, -106) can. The Red Raiders have given up 30-plus points in five of their six games, including a 35-33 win over FCS Houston Baptist in the first game of the year. Furthermore, Texas Tech’s defense is ranked 113th in ESPN’s SP+ rankings.

Also, TCU’s edge in special teams (33rd-ranked SP+ special teams rating compared to Texas Tech’s 102nd ranking) and defense could give its offense short fields to work with. Texas Tech is minus-4 in turnover differential.

I expect TCU head coach Gary Patterson to take away Texas Tech’s run game and force its shaky quarterbacks to throw against a Horned Frogs secondary allowing the lowest completion percentage in the Big XII.

Texas Tech’s offensive line is 54th in line yards per carry and 71st in stuff rate, going against a TCU defensive line which ranks 22nd in opponent’s line yards per carry and 17th in stuff rate, according to Football Outsiders. TCU might not need to use many linebackers and safeties to help with the run.

BET TCU -9.5 (-115).

Over/Under (O/U)

TCU’s offense is pretty mediocre, with the Horned Frogs ranked 80th in the country in points per game, eighth (out of 10 teams) in yards per play in the Big XII and they’ve put up a couple of clunkers this year.

We are on TCU for its defense so I LEAN UNDER 61.5 (-115).
