The Minnesota Twins (28-23) welcome the Texas Rangers (24-29) to Target Field Sunday. First pitch in the finale of the 3-game series is set for 2:10 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Rangers vs. Twins odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Twins lead 2-0

The Twins beat the Rangers 3-2 Friday and 5-3 Saturday, closing as -158 and -141 favorites, respectively. They are 2-0 straight up but 1-1 against the spread (ATS) in the series. Minnesota is on a 4-game winning streak, which is piggybacking off 7 consecutive losses. It is 24-27 ATS on the season.

The Rangers still sit 2nd in the AL West but have lost 6 straight games. They have failed to cover in 5 of those 6, closing as underdogs in all but 1. Texas is 20-33 ATS on the season. It has struggled on the road and is just 12-16 on the season.

Rangers at Twins projected starters

TBD vs. RHP Pablo Lopez

The Rangers have not announced a starting pitcher. RHP Gerson Garabito was added to the taxi squad Saturday and could potentially make his MLB debut.

  • 2024 road stats with Triple-A Round Rock: 1-1, 1.50 ERA (12 IP, 2 ER), 0.92 WHIP in 2 starts and 1 relief appearance

Lopez (4-4, 4.72 ERA) makes his 11th start. He has a 1.12 WHIP, 1.5 BB/9 and 10.2 K/9 in 55 1/3 innings.

Rangers at Twins picks and predictions

Prediction

Rangers 4, Twins 2

Moneyline

BET RANGERS (+146).

Lopez has given up at least 3 earned runs in 6 of his 10 starts this season, and the Twins are 5-5 straight up in games he has started. While the Twins are a streaky side, they have 3 sweeps this season and 2 of those were against the Chicago White Sox.

In 8 of the Twins’ last 11 games, they have scored 3 or fewer runs. With the Rangers 15-13 straight up following a loss, expect them to show some resilience Sunday. Back RANGERS (+146).

Run line/Against the spread

PASS.

As run-line underdogs, the Rangers are just too expensive here and should be able to come out on top or lose by fewer than 2 runs. The Twins are 4-6 ATS in their 10 games with Lopez on the mound, making their value not great either.

Skip a run-line play.

Over/Under

LEAN UNDER 8 (-110).

Both teams are heavily trending towards fewer runs. The Rangers are 1-6 O/U in their last 7 games and 22-31 O/U on the season. Texas has scored 3 or fewer in 6 of those 7 games as well. The Twins are 23-27-1 O/U on the season and 3-9 O/U in their last 12 games, having gone Under in 3 straight.

Both games in the series went Under. The first game ended with 5 runs and the second with 8. Expect another low-scoring battle, and play UNDER 8.5 (-110).

Texas Rangers at Minnesota Twins odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Texas Rangers at Minnesota Twins odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Texas Rangers (24-27) and Minnesota Twins (26-23) open a 3-game weekend series Friday. First pitch from Target Field is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. ET (MLB Network). Let’s analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Rangers vs. Twins odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: First meeting; Minnesota won 5-2 in 2023

The Rangers enter the series having lost 4 straight and 10 of their last 12. Texas failed to cash as a (+180) underdog with a 5-2 loss at the Philadelphia Phillies Thursday. LHP Andrew Heaney took the loss, and dating back to 2023, the 32-year-old is winless in 16 straight regular-season appearances.

The Twins just won 2 at the Washington Nationals after enduring a 7-game losing streak. Minnesota cashed as a (-120) favorite in a 3-2 win Wednesday as SS Carlos Correa and RF Max Kepler both homered.

Rangers at Twins projected starters

RHP Jose Urena vs. RHP Bailey Ober

Urena (1-3, 3.29 ERA) makes his 4th start and 14th appearance. He has a 1.17 WHIP, 3.1 BB/9 and 5.6 K/9 in 38 1/3 innings.

  • Last start: No-decision, 6 IP, 1 ER, 4 H, 1 BB, 3 K in 3-2 home win vs. Los Angeles Angels Saturday
  • His K/9 is 2nd-lowest among 75 AL pitchers with at least 30 IP

Ober (4-2, 4.40 ERA) makes his 10th start. He has a 1.00 WHIP, 1.7 BB/9 and 9.4 K/9 in 47 innings.

  • Last start: Loss, 4 IP, 5 ER, 8 H, 1 BB, 4 K in 11-4 loss at Cleveland Guardians Saturday
  • Among 75 qualified AL pitchers, only Astros RHP Justin Verlander has a higher fly-ball percentage (56.7%) than Ober (52.0%)

Rangers at Twins picks and predictions

Prediction

Rangers 5, Twins 4

Moneyline

BET RANGERS (+136).

Ober got roughed up in his start vs. Texas last season, allowing 5 ER (2 HR) in 4 innings. This year, the 6-foot-9 28-year-old allows the most hard contact (40.3 hard %) vs. right-handed hitters out of 60 AL pitchers with at least 20 IP.

The mountainous Ober now gets to face a Rangers team that hits the ball harder vs. RHP (33.5 hard %) than any other team in the AL. Expect righties like RF Adolis Garcia and 2B Marcus Semien to take advantage, plus SS Corey Seager should feel refreshed after getting a day off Thursday.

Run line/Against the spread

Consider including Rangers +1.5 (-154) in a parlay.

The Rangers +1.5 (-154) and Baltimore Orioles (-275 at Chicago White Sox, 7:40 p.m. ET), who have AL Cy Young contender RHP Corbin Burnes taking the mound, pays out +125.

Over/Under

BET OVER 8.5 (-122).

Urena has a 4.86 road ERA in over 400 career innings, and this year the Twins aren’t far behind the Rangers in hard hit percentage vs. righties (4th-best in AL at 32.2%). Plus, the 32-year-old has seen his pitches hit the strike zone at a 37.1% clip, good for 4th-lowest in the AL.

If the Twins hitters can stay patient and get on base, they could certainly take advantage of Urena and a Rangers pen that enters Friday with an MLB-worst 5.14 ERA.

Texas Rangers at Minnesota Twins odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Texas Rangers at Minnesota Twins odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Texas Rangers (73-56) conclude a 4-game series against the Minnesota Twins (67-63) on Sunday at Target Field. First pitch is scheduled for 2:10 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Rangers vs. Twins odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Twins lead 2-1

The Rangers took down the Twins 6-2 on Saturday to snap an 8-game losing streak. With its recent woes, Texas is now tied with the Seattle Mariners for 1st place in the AL West.

In Saturday’s loss to the Rangers, 2B Jorge Polanco and OF Max Kepler had multi-hit outings for the Twins. Minnesota has gone 5-5 in its last 10 games, but it remains 6 games ahead of the Cleveland Guardians for 1st place in the AL Central.

Rangers at Twins projected starters

LHP Jordan Montgomery vs. RHP Bailey Ober

Montgomery (8-10, 3.12 ERA) makes his 26th start. He has a 1.20 WHIP, 2.3 BB/9 and 8.2 K/9 in 147 innings.

  • Last start: No-decision, 8 IP, 0 ER, 4 H, 1 BB, 6 K in a 4-3 road loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks on Monday
  • Road stats: 2-6, 2.93 ERA (70 2/3 IP, 23 ER) in 12 starts
  • Career vs. Twins: 0-1, 5.94 ERA (16 2/3 IP, 11 ER) in 3 starts

Ober (6-6, 3.41 ERA) makes his 22nd start. He has a 1.12 WHIP, 1.9 BB/9 and 8.8 K/9 in 118 2/3 innings.

  • Last start: No-decision, 5 IP, 2 ER, 2 H, 3 BB, 3 K in a 7-3 road loss to the Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday
  • Home stats: 2-3, 3.07 ERA (67 1/3 IP, 23 ER) in 12 starts
  • First career start vs. Rangers

  • Over/Under (O/U): 8.5 (O: -105 | U: -115)

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3012″ ]

Rangers at Twins picks and predictions

Prediction

Rangers 5, Twins 3

Moneyline

While Texas has struggled to secure wins recently, the RANGERS (-115) are the pick in this contest. Montgomery is coming off one of his best starts with the Rangers and Ober has surrendered multiple runs in 7 straight starts.

Run line/Against the spread

RANGERS -1.5 (+145) has fantastic value despite the team’s recent woes. The Rangers are capable of getting hot at any moment and are still posting the 6th-best ISO (.197), the 12th-best wOBA (.330), and the 12th-best wRC+ (109) against right-handed pitching since the start of August.

Over/Under

UNDER 8.5 (-115) is the lean in this matchup with Montgomery pitching well in recent starts and the Twins struggling against lefties this season. Minnesota boasts the 5th-worst strikeout rate (25.3%) and the 8th-worst wRC+ (92) against left-handed pitching thus far.

The Under is 3-1 in Montgomery’s first 4 starts with the Rangers.

Texas Rangers at Minnesota Twins odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Texas Rangers at Minnesota Twins odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Texas Rangers (72-55) play the 2nd game of a 4-game series against the Minnesota Twins (66-62) on Friday at Target Field. First pitch is scheduled for 8:10 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Rangers vs. Twins odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Twins lead 1-0

The Rangers lost 7-5 to the Twins in the series opener on Thursday despite getting home runs from 2B Marcus Semien, SS Corey Seager, and OF Leody Taveras. Texas has lost 7 consecutive games and is now only 1 game ahead of the Seattle Mariners and Houston Astros for 1st place in the AL West.

In Thursday’s 2-run victory over the Rangers, OF Michael Taylor supplied 2 homers from the back of the order for the Twins. Minnesota is 6-4 in its last 10 games and is 6 games ahead of the Cleveland Guardians atop the AL Central.

Rangers at Twins projected starters

RHP Dane Dunning vs. RHP Sonny Gray

Dunning (9-5, 3.19 ERA) makes his 20th start and 28th appearance. He has a 1.16 WHIP, 2.4 BB/9 and 6.9 K/9 through 132 2/3 IP.

  • Last start: Loss, 5 IP, 3 ER, 7 H, 1 BB, 4 K in a 6-1 home loss vs. Milwaukee Brewers Saturday
  • 2023 road stats: 3-3, 2.98 ERA (66 1/3 IP, 22 ER) in 10 starts and 4 relief appearances
  • Career vs. Twins: 1-2, 4.74 ERA (19 IP, 10 ER) in 4 starts

Gray (6-6, 3.15 ERA) makes his 26th start. He has a 1.21 WHIP, 3.1 BB/9 and 9.3 K/9 through 143 IP.

  • Last start: Loss, 6 2/3 IP, 4 ER, 4 H, 3 BB, 7 K in 7-4 home loss vs. Pittsburgh Pirates Saturday
  • 2023 home stats: 3-3, 3.23 ERA (69 2/3 IP, 25 ER) in 12 starts
  • Career vs. Rangers: 9-5, 3.17 ERA (105 IP, 37 ER) in 16 starts and 1 relief appearance

Rangers at Twins picks and predictions

Prediction

Rangers 5, Twins 4

Moneyline

I’ll back the RANGERS (-105) to end their losing skid Friday despite their recent struggles. Before losing on Thursday, the Rangers had won 5 of the previous 7 meetings against the Twins.

Run line/Against the spread

With Dunning and Gray taking the mound in Friday’s matchup, I’ll PASS on the run line. The Twins should keep this game close, but I wouldn’t advise wagering on their run line at nearly -200 odds.

Over/Under

OVER 8.5 (-110) is the lean as the Rangers are always capable of producing runs and the Twins are swinging a hot bat. Since the beginning of August, the Rangers and the Twins are tied for the 11th-best wOBA (.330) and the 10th-best wRC+ (111) against right-handed pitching.

Texas Rangers at Minnesota Twins odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Texas Rangers at Minnesota Twins odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Texas Rangers (72-54) and Minnesota Twins (65-62) begin a 4-game series at Target Field Thursday. First pitch is slated for 7:10 p.m. ET (MLB Network). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Rangers vs. Twins and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: First meeting; Texas won 5 of 7 games in 2022

The Rangers lost their 6th straight game on Tuesday, 6-3 to the Arizona Diamondbacks. They have been outscored 33-17 over this losing streak. Texas is 30-30 on the road this season.

Minnesota was swept in a 2-game series in Milwaukee and return to Target Field to begin a 7-game homestand. The Twins have won 6 of their last 8 games at home outscoring their opponents 43-25 over that stretch.

Rangers at Twins projected starters

RHP Andrew Heaney vs. RHP Pablo Lopez

Heaney (9-6, 4.27 ERA) will make his 25th start. He has a 1.34 WHIP, 3.4 BB/9 and 9.3 K/9 in 118 innings.

  • Last start: No-decision, 3 2/3 IP, 3 ER, 7 H, 1 BB, 3 K in 9-8 home loss to the Milwaukee Brewers Friday
  • Last start vs Twins: No-decision, 4 1/3 IP, 0 ER, 3 H, 0 BB, 5 K in 7-2 home win on April 12, 2022, as a member of the Los Angeles Dodgers

Rangers at Twins picks and predictions

Prediction

Twins 5, Rangers 2

Moneyline

PASS.

The Rangers are in a tailspin and I don’t see that changing in the Twins Cities on Thursday night. I would bet the Twins, but I don’t love these odds. I’d prefer to bet the run line with those juicy plus odds.

Run line/Against the spread

BET MINNESOTA -1.5 (+155).

I typically don’t love giving the run and a half but with Lopez on the mound for the Twins, I believe in Minnesota. He hasn’t lost a start since July 20 in Seattle and allowed just 2 ER in that game. Lopez hasn’t lost at home since July 19.

Over/Under

LEAN UNDER 8.5 (-115).

If you combine the last 4 starts of these 2 starting pitchers (41 2/3 innings pitched) they have allowed a grand total of just 5 ER. That’s a 1.08 ERA between the 2 of them. This game is destined to be a pitching duel.
