Report: Aggies will be without multiple starters against South Carolina

Texas A&M will be without multiple starters on offense and defense against South Carolina

Texas A&M is set to take on the South Carolina Gamecocks on Saturday night in Columbia, South Carolina, as tonight’s kickoff is currently set for 6:30 PM CT, and will be aired on the SEC Network.

Well-known to Aggie fans and media by now, head coach Jimbo Fisher is not one to openly discuss injuries in detail throughout the pre-game week, and this time was no different as the team was coming off their bye week, and looked to be the healthiest they’ve been with the week off coming at the perfect time.

Well, as erratic as the information flow in college football media is just hours before a team is set to kick off, some surprising news hit the Aggies in the form of a tweet from TexAgs owner Billy Liucci, who stated that starting center Bryce Foster and starting guard Aki Ogunbiyi are officially out tonight, while starting nickel corner Antonio Johnson, linebacker Edgerrin Cooper may also be out for tonight’s game.

Some good news? As I alluded to in the final injury report earlier today, linebacker Andre White Jr., cornerback Tyreek Chappell, left tackle Trey Zuhn, defensive tackle Shemar Turner, and defensive end Tunmise Adeleye are slated to return to action tonight against the Gamecocks.

Initial injury report ahead of Week 8 matchup vs. South Carolina

Who made the early injury report ahead of Texas A&M’s week 8 tilt vs. South Carolina?

Texas A&M’s bye week has officially come to a close, as Aggies head coach Jimbo Fisher opened his annual Monday press conference reflecting on the week off from competition, and the importance of rejuvenation heading into 6 straight weeks of tough SEC opponents and looking to improve on their 3-3 record greatly.

During the presser, Fisher gave a couple of critical updates regarding the team’s early injury report heading into their Saturday night road matchup against South Carolina, as every Texas A&M media member was left without many answers after the team’s Week 6 loss to Alabama due to the bye week.

First off, Fisher declined to comment on any potential season-ending injuries, specifically offensive lineman Jordan Spasojevic-Moko who was seriously injured in Texas A&M’s Week 5 loss to Mississippi State, as he is presumed to be finished for the year after posting on social media that he in fact had surgery.

Next, Fisher was asked about quarterback Haynes King’s health after numerous rumors regarding an injury after the Alabama games began to surface last week, including a notable limp toward the end of the game. In his steadfast cryptic fashion, Fisher stated that King will be “available” for the South Carolina game, meaning that a potential quarterback battle between Haynes King and Freshman Conner Weigman may still be in the works.

Lastly, there was no mention of defensive end Tunmise Adeleye, defensive tackle Shemar Turner, left tackle Trey Zuhn, or any of the other 9 total starters who missed the Alabama game (obviously not counting Ainias Smith’s season-ending injury), yet some great news from freshman cornerback Bobby Taylor surfaced as the talented youngster looks to be fully healed from his ACL tear last spring!

Fantastic news from one of the coolest cats on the Aggies roster, and we all cannot wait to see him hit the field whenever that moment comes!

What injuries is Texas A&M dealing with as they enter the bye week?

What injuries is Texas A&M dealing with as they enter the bye week?

Texas A&M has reached the midpoint of its rocky 2022 college football season, coming off of their devastating 24-20 loss to the then No.1 ranked Alabama Crimson Tide in Tuscaloosa, a game decided in the final 3 seconds as Aggie quarterback Haynes King threw an ill-timed pass to freshman wide receiver Evan Stewart at the goal line, failing to score the game-winning touchdown.

With the loss, the Aggies have dropped to an even 3-3, and 1-2 in SEC play, as the team enters the bye week still looking for answers, specifically on offense, but should be mightily encouraged by the effort shown by the defense executed by multiple members of Texas A&M’s historically talented 2022 recruiting class.

With no Monday press conference due to the bye week, the initial injury report is solely based on reports through various sources, paired with a couple of speculations from what we saw at the end of Saturday night’s game.

To start, The Aggies were without over 9 starters against the Crimson Tide on Saturday night, including quarterback Max Johnson, left tackle Trey Zuhn, defensive end Tunmise Adeleye, middle linebacker Andrew White Jr., cornerbacks Tyreek Chappell and Myles Jones, and defensive tackle Shemar Turner just to name a few. At the same time, left guard Jordan Moko and wide receiver Ainias Smith were lost for the season within the last two weeks.

As daunting as that list may be, the bye week has arrived at the perfect time, as more than half of the players listed have a chance to be back in time for their matchup visiting the South Carolina Gamecocks on Oct. 22nd.

Now, aside from some bumps and bruises, multiple players sustained in Saturday’s game, the biggest worry is quarterback Haynes King, who took quite the beating in his gutsiest performance to date, while having a noticeable limp through the fourth quarter. With zero evidence pertaining to a serious injury of some sort, we will have to wait and see if his health status changes throughout the next couple of weeks. Gig ’em, and BTHO the bye week.

Injury report ahead of Week 6 matchup against Alabama

Injury report ahead of Week 6 matchup against Alabama

Well, it’s officially Alabama week everyone, and with the now 3-2 Aggies reeling from their embarrassing 42-24 loss to Mississippi State among a packed Davis Wade Stadium, the No.1 ranked Crimson Tide are just the next opponent in line as head coach Jimbo Fisher is searching for answers for Saturday’s primetime showdown.

On Monday, during the team’s annual early week press conference, Fisher and a handful of players answered questions regarding the Mississippi State game while previewing Alabama. Fisher also gave a list of injury-based updates after Saturday’s physically enduring brawl.

First and foremost, an update on starting quarterback Max Johnson, who suffered a left-hand injury in the second half of the game on Saturday, Jimbo stated

“We’ll go day-to-day. He banged his hand. We’ll go day-to-day… We’ll get Haynes (King) and Conner (Weigman) ready to play if Max can’t go.”

Starting cornerback Jaylon Jones also suffered an injury on Saturday, and Jimbo noted that he is doing “fine” and is currently “day to day”.

Lastly, redshirt sophomore Offensive lineman Jordan Spasojevic-Moko, who was injured on Saturday, posted on social media that he had surgery Monday.

Obviously, this is not an all-exclusive injury report, as more information will be released later within the week as the team prepares to take on their biggest challenge yet this season.

Injury report ahead of Week 2 matchup vs. Appalachian State

Injury report ahead of Week 2 matchup vs. Appalachian State

The Texas A&M Aggies enter Week 2 of the 2022 college football season 1-0 after their 31-0 home win against the Sam Houston State Bearkats in a game that lasted nearly 6 hours due to a complete 2-hour and 50-minute weather delay during the halftime break.

Before the game, head coach Jimbo Fisher chose not to release a depth chart/injury report before kickoff. Yet, media members attending the game combined with those of us who were watching the cameras document Aggie players warm up on the field noticed a number of key players not suited up including starting cornerback Jaylon Jones, starting nose tackle McKinnley Jackson, starting center Bryce Foster (Illness), cornerback Deuce Harmon, tight end Blake Smith, and starting tight end Max Wright, who was wearing a knee brace.

After the game, the Aggies nearly escaped injury free, with the one issue being linebacker Andre Whites’ minor knee strain towards the end of the 4th quarter, though he did get up on his own and walk back to the sideline. During Monday’s post-game press conference, Fisher was asked about the current player injury outlook heading into Week 2, stating that Jaylon Jones and McKinnley Jackson would make their way back to practice on Monday, while Andre White is apparently day to day. In the case of Bryce Foster, Jimbo explained “I’m hoping, but I don’t know when (he’ll return). … They tell me day-to-day in the medical room.”

All in all, the Aggies look to be in very good shape leading up to the Sept. 10th showdown vs. Appalachian State.

Injury report ahead of Week 1 matchup vs. Sam Houston State

Injury report ahead of Week 1 matchup vs. Sam Houston State

Fall Camp for the Texas A&M Football program was very successful in avoiding any major/season-ending injuries heading into the season opener against Sam Houston State, however, some minor injuries to a few key players in camp are definitely something to keep an eye on throughout the season.

To paint a better picture of just how lucky the Aggies are going into their season opener virtually injury-free, the biggest news coming out of the program on that front was the medical retirements of offensive lineman Luke Matthews, reserve defensive lineman Braedon Mowrey, and the unfortunate season-ending injury to freshman defensive back Bobby Taylor before the start of spring practices.

During camp, the redshirt freshman and presumed starter at left tackle Trey Zuhn dealt with some minor complications after dealing with Covid-19 but has been good to go since the latter half of fall camp. Meanwhile, sophomore center Bryce Foster dealt with a minor undisclosed injury, but made his way back in the middle of fall camp, working with the 1st and 2nd team in rotation with fell center Matthew Wykoff. Lastly, star wide receiver Ainias Smith has been dealing with an injury to his right hand but stated “I have been catching a whole lot with my left hand. it got me better.”

All in all, head coach Jimbo Fisher cleared up any remaining confusion while reiterating that there are zero injuries that will keep any players out of the season opener on Sept. 3rd.
