Texas A&M’s bye week has officially come to a close, as Aggies head coach Jimbo Fisher opened his annual Monday press conference reflecting on the week off from competition, and the importance of rejuvenation heading into 6 straight weeks of tough SEC opponents and looking to improve on their 3-3 record greatly.
During the presser, Fisher gave a couple of critical updates regarding the team’s early injury report heading into their Saturday night road matchup against South Carolina, as every Texas A&M media member was left without many answers after the team’s Week 6 loss to Alabama due to the bye week.
First off, Fisher declined to comment on any potential season-ending injuries, specifically offensive lineman Jordan Spasojevic-Moko who was seriously injured in Texas A&M’s Week 5 loss to Mississippi State, as he is presumed to be finished for the year after posting on social media that he in fact had surgery.
Next, Fisher was asked about quarterback Haynes King’s health after numerous rumors regarding an injury after the Alabama games began to surface last week, including a notable limp toward the end of the game. In his steadfast cryptic fashion, Fisher stated that King will be “available” for the South Carolina game, meaning that a potential quarterback battle between Haynes King and Freshman Conner Weigman may still be in the works.
Lastly, there was no mention of defensive end Tunmise Adeleye, defensive tackle Shemar Turner, left tackle Trey Zuhn, or any of the other 9 total starters who missed the Alabama game (obviously not counting Ainias Smith’s season-ending injury), yet some great news from freshman cornerback Bobby Taylor surfaced as the talented youngster looks to be fully healed from his ACL tear last spring!
