2025 5-star ATH Michael Terry III is gearing up to announce his commitment

2025 5-star WR Michael Terry III is set to make his commitment decison

In today’s college football recruiting landscape, unpredictability is a given, as many prospects will defy pre-announcement predictions due to various factors, ranging from NIL, family or a quick development track to the NFL.

As the competition only increases, Texas A&M’s 2025 recruiting class is highly impressive on paper. It gained 18 commitments, led by five-star quarterback Husan Longstreet, while more than half of the cycle is dominated by offensive line and defensive commits.

However, Mike Elko and his staff, specifically wide receiver coach Holmon Wiggins, know that landing at least one top-tier wide receiver prospect should put the class over the top and add immediate starting talent during the 2025 season.

Trying to avoid former head coach Jimbo Fisher’s failure of losing 2024 five-star WR Cam Coleman to the Auburn Tigers, several 2025 prospects, including five-star wide receivers Kaliq Lockett and Michael Terry III. The latter announced a decision will be coming sooner than later.

After visiting College Station on June 12, Terry, who is favored to land with Texas or Oregon, included the Aggies in a recent update next to Nebraska. He is reportedly considering all four programs.

Terry’s impressive size (6 feet, 3 inches and nearly 220 pounds) is one of the many reasons he’s thrived at multiple positions on offense. During his 2023 junior season, he performed as both wide receiver and running back, recording 992 rushing yards and 20 touchdowns, paired with 564 receiving yards and ten touchdowns on the year.

On the 247Sports composite, Terry has continued to rise in the rankings. He is currently the 28th-ranked prospect in the 2025 cycle, the No. 1-ranked athlete in the class and the eighth-ranked prospect in Texas.

2025 5-star OL Michael Fasusi has announced his commitment date

One of Texas A&M’s top recruiting targets is set to announce his commitment next month

It’s commitment season, and some of the top prospects in the 2025 recruiting class are beginning to make their future plans before ultimately signing with a collegiate program later in the year, as Texas A&M has already landed 18 commits in the cycle thus far.

With more news on the horizon, 2025 5-star offensive tackle Michael Fasusi, one of the best overall athletes in the class, has released his commitment date for Wednesday, August 21, as the incoming Lewisville HS senior is considering Texas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Oregon, and Texas A&M has his future options.

So far, Fasusi has officially visited every program listed above, including Texas A&M, on June 6, taking in the sights and scenery while focusing on what each school can offer from a development standpoint, as Fasusi’s NFL ceiling is already very high.

Standing at 6 feet, 4 inches, and nearly 300 pounds, Fasusi is highly versatile. He has experience at both tackle spots. However, due to his quickness and impressive footwork, his future is clearly at left tackle, one of the most sought-after position groups in the NFL Draft. With more programs to visit this summer, the Aggies have certainly left a positive mark this weekend.

According to 247Sports, Fasusi is currently positioned as the 27th-ranked prospect in the 2025 recruiting class, the 5th-ranked offensive tackle, and the 7th-ranked prospect in Texas.

2026 5-star QB out of Folsom (CA) will reportedly visit Texas A&M in late July

2026 5-star quarterback Ryder Lyons will reportedly visit Texas A&M later this month

The recruiting momentum for Texas A&M under head coach Mike Elko is notable, especially in the Golden State. Three of the top five 2025 prospects out of California have committed to the program, led by 5-star quarterback Husan Longstreet, who is now the fourth-ranked signal caller in the cycle.

While there’s still plenty of work to be done in the 2025 class, Elko and his staff are focused on making significant headway with several 2026 prospects before starting of the 2024 college football season, as Rivals’ Adam Gorney has reported that 2026 5-star quarterback Ryder Lyons will visit Texas A&M later this month.

With two commits in the 2026 cycle thus far, Elko will continue to dip his toes in the California talent market. Lyons is currently the second-ranked QB in the class, right behind fellow 5-star signal caller Faizon Brandon.

Outside of current Texas A&M starting quarterback Conner Weigman, former Aggies head coach Jimbo Fisher failed to secure commitments from top talent at the position over his six-year reign.

Possessing an impressive arm, accuracy, and elite touch, Lyons completed over 68% of his passes for 3,578 yards, 38 touchdowns, and just eight interceptions on the year while running for 929 yards and 23 (!) touchdowns on the ground during his 2023 sophomore season at Folsom HS.

According to 247Sports, Lyons is currently ranked 11th in the 2026 cycle, third in quarterback prospect, and second in California prospect.

2025 5-star safety Trey McNutt has announced his July commitment date

One of Texas A&M’s high priority prospects will announce his commitment next month

Texas A&M head coach Mike Elko’s strength has been and continues to be on defense, earning the respect of every program that faced him during his lengthy defensive coordinator career before taking over the Aggies back in November.

While he will share the defensive duties with new defensive coordinator Jay Bateman this upcoming season, Elko’s recruiting prowess continues to impress future defenders, especially in the secondary. Texas A&M’s 2025 recruiting class is currently 18 commitments deep, including eight players on defense.

After landing verbals from several defenders at the start of the month, one of Elko’s priority prospects, five-star safety and Ohio native Trey McNutt, has revealed his upcoming commitment date.

Ready to make his potentially final collegiate decision, McNutt announced that he would commit on Friday, July 19, choosing between Florida, Ohio State, Oregon, USC, and Texas A&M.

After taking an official visit to College Station on June 13, McNutt also visited the red-hot Oregon Ducks. The Ducks have dominated the recruiting trail after recently landing five-star wide receiver Dakorian Moore.

On the field, McNutt recorded 61 tackles, two for loss, 12 pass breakups, and a forced fumble on the year while excelling as a wide receiver on offense during his 2023 junior season

According to 247Sports, McNutt is currently ranked 23rd in the 2025 cycle, the No. 1 safety prospect, and the second-ranked prospect in Ohio.

2025 4-star WR Kelshaun Johnson will reportedly move his commitment day

2025 4-star wide receiver Kelshaun Johnson is likely annouce his commitment at an unspecified time next week

As Texas continues to deal with the repercussions of Hurricane Beryl, plans are again being changed, including the commitment date for one of the top wide receivers in the 2025 recruiting class, which was last set for Wednesday afternoon.

According to OrangeBloods writer Jason Suchomel, Johnson will once again push back his commitment date to sometime next week, as power issues in Hitchcock, Texas, are still a problem. We all send our thoughts to Johnson and his family, and everyone is still affected.

Recently, speaking with On3’s Chad Simmons, Johnson was intrigued by both the Longhorns and Aggies’ future offenses. At the same time, Texas A&M remains the overwhelming favorite, according to several 247Sports recruiting analysts, and Texas is clearly in play. Johnson explained that both in-state programs are the finalists:

“They are great schools. I like the coaches at Texas and Texas A&M, both have good offense.”

With new offensive coordinator Collin Klein taking over play-calling duties this coming season, recruits, including Johnson, have been provided a clear vision of how they’ll fit in the Aggies offense.

According to 247Sports, Johnson is currently positioned as the 192nd-ranked prospect in the 2025 class, the 20th-ranked wide receiver, and the 27th-ranked prospect in Texas.

5-star QB Husan Longstreet is now a Top 5 quarterback in 2025 recruiting class

Husan Longstreet is now one of the Top 5 quarterback in the 2025 cycle

It’s no surprise when prospects in any recruiting cycle begin to rise in the rankings after participating in various camps throughout the summer. In the 2025 recruiting class, nearly every quarterback who many of us saw during last month’s Elite II competition has only helped their standing in the rankings.

2025 5-star Husan Longstreet, who committed to Texas A&M in early April, is now, according to 247Sports, the No. 4-ranked quarterback in the cycle and the No. 1-ranked prospect in California. As the lone 5-star commit in the Aggies’ 2025 class, Longstreet also serves as new offensive coordinator Collin Klein’s first win on the recruiting trail.

Longstreet possesses one of the strongest arms in the 2025 class. During his memorable 2023 junior season at Centennial HS in Corona (CA), Longstreet accounted for 3,013 yards, 24 touchdowns, and just seven interceptions through the air, including 645 rushing yards and seven touchdowns on the ground.

After earning MVP honors during the first day of the Elite 11 competition, On3’s Charles Power described Longstreet’s elite skillset, which was seen throughout the week:

“He was able to throw with good location and drop some nice throws in. He won the Rail Shot challenge towards the end of the event in which the quarterbacks all throw a small-window throw down the back side. He really showed the ability to manipulate his arm angles, throw off-platform and just had a very strong day overall. His physical tools are apparent and he’s certainly one of the twitchier and more explosive passers and movers on hand”

According to 247Sports, Longstreet is now the 28th-ranked prospect in the 2025 class, the fourth-ranked quarterback, and the No. 1-ranked prospect in California.

This week, another high-priority prospect has hinted at a potential commitment announcement coming sooner rather than later. Texas A&M loses out on 2025 4-star Edge Kamauryn Morgan

Nothing is set in stone until pen hits paper

As the college football recruiting landscape becomes more competitive, losing out on prospects who seemed like sure things is just part of the process. For Texas A&M, the Aggies’ 2025 recruiting class is now 18 commitments deep, as first-year head coach Mike Elko has the program on the right track.

On Sunday, one of A&M’s priority defensive prospects announced his collegiate destination. Four-star edge Kamauryn Morgan committed to Baylor over the Aggies and SMU.

Becoming the highest-ranked prospect in the Bears’ 2025 cycle, Morgan is also the ninth highest-ranked prospect to ever commit to the program. The productive pass rusher likely prioritizes immediate playing time, something that’s definitely in the cards down in Waco.

Standing at 6’5″ and over 230 pounds, Morgan sees Baylor head coach Dave Aranda as someone who could develop his skill set in the long term. Due to his size and impressive athleticism, the young pass rusher clearly possesses NFL potential.

However, as Aggie insider Jaxson Callaway points out, Elko and his staff will stay in contact with Morgan heading into his senior season at South Oak Cliff HS, knowing that nothing is set in stone except pen his paper on National Signing Day in February.

During his 2023 junior season at South Oak Cliff HS, Morgan recorded 65 tackles, six sacks, two forced fumbles, and 13 tackles for loss while already accounting for 11 sacks and 21 tackles for loss in his last two seasons.

According to 247Sports, Morgan is currently positioned as the 94th-ranked prospect in the 2025 class, the 12th-ranked Edge, and the 16th-ranked prospect in Texas.
