What uniforms will the Texans, Cowboys wear on Monday Night Football?

Here’s what the Texans will be wearing on Monday Night Football against the Dallas Cowboys.

A new week, a new uniform combination.

The Houston Texans will head out to Arlington to take on the Dallas Cowboys, looking for their seventh victory and a way to end the two-game losing streak.

The Cowboys love their all-white look on the primetime stage, so Houston must counteract. The AFC South leaders will wear their all-navy blue fit with their traditional helmets.

Here’s a look at the design below:

This marks the second time Houston has donned the all-navy look, with the first coming in Week 7’s loss against the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field.

The Texans should be in better shape on offense with the return of receiver Nico Collins, who was designated to return last week. Collins, who led the NFL in receiving yards the first five weeks, did not play in Sunday’s 26-23 loss to the Detroit Lions, but coach DeMeco Ryans said it wasn’t because of a setback.

Second-year quarterback C.J. Stroud has struggled at times during Collins’ five-game hiatus. With the fourth-year starter in the lineup, the offense averaged 277 yards through the air while Stroud completed 69% of his passes.

Without Collins, Houston has averaged 197.2  passing yards per game. Stroud completed just 55% of his throws.

Texans offense should turn corner with return of WR Nico Collins

The Texans are expecting to see wide receiver Nico Collins practice this week in preparation for their Lone Star showdown against the Cowboys.

Nico Collins should be ready on Monday night when the Houston Texans travel to Arlington to take on the Dallas Cowboys.

That’s perhaps the best news fans of the AFC South franchise could get after suffering a 26-23 loss in Week 10 against the Detroit Lions. Collins was cleared to return after being elevated off the injury report, but the Texans chose to leave him inactive.

Texans coach DeMeco Ryans said everything is fine with Collins’ progression and that the move was made at the final hour.

“No setback with Nico,” Ryans said Tuesday. “It was just a game-time decision.

Sitting at 6-4, the Texans need Collins. John Metchie III and Tank Dell have stepped up as the new top weapon in place of the injured Stefon Diggs over the past two games, but they are better served as secondary options.

Collins is a legitimate top threat in the pros. He’s coming off a nearly 1,300-yard season in 2023 while forming a bond with the rising Stroud.

Before suffering a hamstring strain that sidelined him for five games, the 6-foot-4 Collins was on pace for a record-setting season in franchise history. His 567 receiving yards led the NFL by a deep margin. He also ranked third nationally in catches with 32.

The Texans are expecting Collins not only back, but at full speed during practice this week. He was designated to return from injured reserve Friday and practiced for the first time in over a month, but the walk-through wasn’t enough to show Houston’s medical staff to clear him.

Ryans said Collins’ comeback isn’t just welcomed, but it’s impactful. The Texans are 2-3 without the 25-year-old in the lineup. Stroud’s passing numbers have also taken a hit, dropping from a 69% completion rate to 55% over the past five games.

“Before he was out, he was the top receiver in the league,” Ryans said. “I think any time you get him back, it’s going to help everybody.”

Kickoff from AT&T Stadium is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. The game will be nationally televised on ESPN and ABC.

Texans cut veteran CB, sign former first-round OL

The Texans are making changes to the roster before their Week 11 showdown against the Dallas Cowboys.

An internal move has been made to the Houston Texans’ roster entering Week 11’s matchup against the Dallas Cowboys at AT&T Stadium.

The Texans are re-signing cornerback D’Angelo Ross and adding former first-round offensive tackle Cameron Erving to the practice squad.

In a corresponding move, Houston is releasing veteran All-Pro defensive back and return man Desmond King and offensive tackle David Sharpe.

Ross, who started two games in place of rookie cornerback Kamari Lassiter, was released on Saturday and cleared waivers. He was always expected to return to the practice squad, espeically given his knowledge of the defense.

In the two games Ross started, he allowed 10 catches on 10 targets and one touchdown for 148 receiving yards. He also recorded 13 tackles.

King, who started three seasons with the Texans, was a valuable asset to Houston’s success after rejoining the team following his release from the Pittsburgh Steelers.

In six games, he totaled 47 tackles, one sack, and two pass breakups in seven games for the AFC South champions.

This past season, King played in one game as an elevation from the practice squad. He recorded one tackle.

Erving, a former first-round pick by the Cleveland Browns, was part of the Texans’ roster during the preseason but was cut during roster trimdowns.

He’ll replace Sharpe as the potential added offensive lineman from the practice squad, especially given his position flexibility.

Kickoff from AT&T Stadium on Monday night is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. The game will be nationally televised on ESPN.

How popular is Texans QB C.J. Stroud? Jersey sales have a say

C.J. Stroud has gained more national praise as the Texans continue to show up on primetime television.

Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud is the top name in the NFL.

Well, as a passer, he’s usually regarded as one of the 10 best quarterbacks.

When it comes to jersey sales, he wins the crown.

The NFL on Tuesday announced the top 10 jersey sales for 2024, entering November as the holiday season. Stroud’s No. 7 Texans jersey tops all other players between April 1 and Oct. 1.

Even with the inconsistent play on the field, Stroud’s status from a nationwide perspective continues to grow. Ask any fans on the AFC South franchise which jersey they’re saving up for and the better question would be which jersey color they will be donning with the No. 7 attached to the back.

Quarterbacks owned the top five, per usual. Chicago Bears rookie QB Caleb Williams, Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes and Washington Commanders rookie QB Jayden Daniels all ranked inside the top five.

Detroit Lions defensive end Aidan Hutchinson, a favorite to win Defensive Player of the Year before his season-ending leg injury, came in at No. 4.

Rounding out the top 10 included Lions receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown, Dallas Cowboys receiver CeeDee Lamb, Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen, Minnesota Vikings receiver Justin Jefferson and Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby.

Why is Stroud so popular? For starters, his allegiance to California likely carries weight, leading to a majority of fans from Los Angeles saving up to buy his gear.

There’s also the Ohio State crowd showing support for his college day. Stroud, a two-time Heisman finalist, nearly led the Buckeyes to the national championship twice, including a College Football Playoff appearance in 2022 against Georgia.

Stroud’s also just a likable person who continues to appear on the primetime stage. With the Texans’ matchup against the Dallas Cowboys on Monday Night Football this week, it’ll mark the fourth consecutive week Stroud has played in the standalone window this season.

Houston also will have two standalone games against the Kansas City Chiefs and Baltimore Ravens next month, bringing the total to seven games. The Texans also remain the favorite to win the division despite losing three of their last four outings.

In September, Stroud landed atop the NFL Players Association’s top 50 player sales list for all officially licensed products sold after being the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2023.

In 10 games, Stroud has completed 62.9% of his passes for 2,731 yards and 12 touchdown passes against six interceptions.

Texans gain back DL following four-game suspension before Cowboys game

Mario Edwards Jr. is back for the Houston Texans after serving a four-game suspension.

The Houston Texans are returning a vital asset to their defensive line before Monday’s showdown in Arlington.

The NFL officially reinstated veteran defensive tackle Mario Edwards Jr. from his four-game suspension on Tuesday afternoon.

Edwards, who signed a one-year deal this offseason with the reigning AFC South champions, was suspended without pay for violating the NFL’s substances of abuse policy.

The news broke on the same day that fellow defensive lineman Denico Autry was officially reinstated from a six-game suspension for a performance-enhancing drug policy.

Before being suspended, Edwards has started every game for the Texans this season. Through six games, he ranked third on the team in sacks (two), sixth in tackles (18) and registered five quarterback hits with two tackles for loss.

In his final game before the suspension, the former second-round pick out of Florida State recorded eight tackles against the New England Patriots.

According to KPRC2 Sports’ Aaron Wilson, Edwards has been working out at the Texans’ training facility and is ‘ready to go’ when the Texans visit AT&T Stadium to take on the Dallas Cowboys on ‘Monday Night Football.’

Edwards’ return comes at an ideal time after starter Foley Fatukasi left Week 10’s loss against the Detroit Lions in the third quarter with a foot injury. His status remains questionable.

As does former NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year Will Anderson Jr., who left in Week 9’s loss against the New York Jets after suffering an ankle injury during the first quarter. A favorite to win Defensive Player of the Year, Anderson didn’t play in Sunday’s 26-23 loss against the Detroit Lions.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7:15 p.m.

Will Nico Collins play this week? Latest injury updates for Texans WR

Nico Collins is dealing with a hamstring injury entering Monday’s matchup against the Dallas Cowboys.

As the Houston Texans prepare for their Monday night showdown with the Dallas Cowboys, they could be getting back a healthy target in the passing game.

Despite being activated off the injured reserve, wide receiver Nico Collins was ruled out for Week 10’s 26-23 loss against the Detroit Lions. Texans coach DeMeco Ryans gave an update Tuesday on Collins’ status heading into Week 11.

That’s the only question Texans fans alike will want answered ahead of their primetime clash at AT&T Stadium.

Nico Collins injury update

Collins, who missed the past four games with a hamstring injury, was officially designated to return on Friday. That opened a 21-day window during which Collins could practice with the Texans without taking up space on the team’s 53-man roster.

On Saturday, the Texans activated him to the 53-man roster but still listed him as questionable for Sunday’s game.  On Sunday, the Texans listed him as inactive, which factored into a three-point loss at home.

On Tuesday, Ryans said Collins would be a participant in practice.

“I anticipate him practicing,” Ryans said.

When will Nico Collins return?

Barring a setback, Collins should be cleared for Monday’s Lone Star showdown at AT&T Stadium against the Dallas Cowboys. Houston’s being patient with its No. 1 receiver, knowing its next three contests will bode in its favor of winning.

After facing off against the Cowboys, the Texans have back-to-back divisional games against the Tennessee Titans and Jacksonville Jaguars.

“Any time you get a starting receiver back and Nico, a guy who’s been – before he was out, he was the top receiver in the league,” Ryans said. “So, I think any time you get him back, it’s going to help everybody.”

Nico Collins stats

Collins, who last played in Week 5’s win over the Buffalo Bills, caught a 67-yard touchdown pass from Stroud in the first quarter before leaving for the remainder of the evening. He entered Week 5 as the NFL leader in receiving yards with 567. Collins also ranked third in catches with 32 and led the Texans with three receiving touchdowns.

Texans WR depth chart

Two-time All-Pro Stefon Diggs is on the season-ending injured reserve, but here’s a look at the Texans receiving depth chart entering Week 11 now with Collins back.

  • Nico Collins
  • Tank Dell
  • Robert Woods
  • John Metchie III
  • Xavier Hutchinson
  • Steven Sims

Texans offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik praised Dell’s performance after taking over as the leading receiver last Thursday.

Since Diggs’ departure, Dell has collected 10 catches for 141 yards and one touchdown on 13 targets.

“He took advantage of some matchups, and some plays worked out where we had given him plenty of opportunities in the last three or four weeks,” Slowik said. “Sometimes, you can’t control the coverage.”

Metchie, a former second-round pick, could be in line for another breakout game after serving as Stroud’s top target in Sunday’s loss. He caught five passes for 74 yards and scored his first touchdown on a 1-yard pass with 12 seconds remaining in the first half.

“I’m just really proud of just his improvement and him taking the coaching, taking the practice to the field on Sunday,” Ryans said.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. The game will be nationally televised on NBC.

Texans vs. Cowboys: Announcers set for Week 11 game

The Houston Texans will hit the road to face off against the Dallas Cowboys on ‘Monday Night Football’ in Week 11.

The Houston Texans (6-4) hit the road on Monday night for a Lone Star showdown against the Dallas Cowboys (3-6) in Week 11 on primetime at AT&T Stadium.

Houston’s Week 11 matchup will serve as the ‘Monday Night Football’ game on ESPN at 7:15 CT. Joe Buck (play-by-play) and Troy Aikman (analyst) will serve as commentators in the broadcast booth.

Lisa Salters (sideline reporter) will remain on the sidelines and provide in-game interviews.

The Texans need a win. So does Dallas, but Houston’s woeful second-half outing on ‘Sunday Night Football’ against the Detroit Lions now has fans wondering if the AFC South favorites are a legit contender in the conference.

Houston jumped out to an early 23-7 lead in the first half after C.J. Stroud connected with John Metchie III for the 15-yard touchdown. Lions quarterback Jared Goff tossed five interceptions, but the Texans never could pressure him into fumbling the ball.

For Detroit (8-1), its defense stepped up in the second half. The front seven recorded four sacks while Stroud tossed a pair of interceptions to Carlton Davis III, including one in the end zone on a pass intended for Tank Dell.

Jake Bates drilled two second-half 50-plus-yard field goals, including a game-winning 52-yard kick as time expired. With the loss, the Texans joined the 1970 Chicago Bears as the only franchise in league history to lose a game where the opposing quarterback throws five interceptions.

“Definitely should have won this game,” Stroud said. “My job is to lead the offense to score points, and I didn’t do that today. … We really should have put them away after the first half. It’s really on the offense.”

The Cowboys aren’t waving the white flag for 2024, but their season has gone off the rails. Quarterback Dak Prescott will miss the remainder of the regular season after it was announced Tuesday that he would undergo hamstring surgery.

In Sunday’s loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, backup quarterback Cooper Rush completed 13-of-26 passes for 45 yards and lost two fumbles. He also was sacked once. Former No. 3 overall pick Trey Lance filled in the fourth quarter and finished with 21 passing yards and an interception.

For the second time in six games, the Cowboys did not score a touchdown.

“Everybody has confidence in Coop,” Cowboys offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer said. “Again, it wasn’t our best performance yesterday as an offense, for sure. Wasn’t all him. We’re all involved in that.”

Houston has opened as 7.5-point road favorites against the Cowboys in primetime out in Arlington, according to BetMGM. The over/under is currently set at 42.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7:15 p.m.

Texans schedule: Who is Houston playing in Week 11?

Are the Houston Texans playing this week? Here’s a look at the schedule and the games to come.

Despite having a three-game lead in the AFC South, it’s must-win time for Houston Texans if they plan on being mentioned as a legitimate AFC contender.

The Texans bullied Deroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff for four quarters and still found a way to end up on the side of defeat in a 26-23 loss at home. Goff threw five interceptions while C.J. Stroud helped Houston’s offense mount a 16-point first-half lead.

Yet the Texans sit at 6-4 entering Week 11 after Jake Bates drilled two field goals, including a game-winning 52-yard blast.

“We didn’t play winning football,” coach DeMeco Ryans said. “We stalled on a lot of drives and didn’t score any points in the second half. To beat a good football team like that, we have to be able to sustain drives. We have to be able to score points. We were going backwards way too much.”

Who is next on the schedule? Is it another primetime matchup? Let’s discuss below.

Who will the Texans play in Week 10 of the NFL schedule?

Houston takes on the Dallas Cowboys on Nov. 18 at AT&T Stadium. This marks the first time since 2022 that the two sides have met during the regular season.

The Cowboys secured a 27-23 win in Arlington back in 2022 as part of the dark times for the AFC South franchise.

With the loss on ‘Sunday Night Football,’ the Texans became the second team since 1933 to lose a game in which they caught five interceptions and led by at least 15. Previously, teams were 373-1-1 when leading by at least 15 and snagging five interceptions.

The other loser? The Chicago Bears in 1970, during Week 11 behind a five-interception afternoon from Baltimore Colts quarterback Johnny Unitas.

The good news for Houston? Vertical threat Nico Collins should return after being activated off the injured reserve last week. He’s missed the past five games with a hamstring injury but returned to practice on Friday before the Week 10 debacle.

The Cowboys will also be without star quarterback Dak Prescott, who suffered a season-ending hamstring injury in Week 9’s road loss against the Atlanta Falcons. Cooper Rush is expected to start in his place.

The Texans enter Monday’s contest as a -7.5-point road favorite. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. The game will be nationally televised on ESPN.

Who will start for the Cowboys against the Texans in Week 11?

The Houston Texans now know which quarterback plans to start on Monday night when they face off against the Dallas Cowboys.

Dak Prescott is out for the year after it was announced Tuesday morning that the star quarterback would undergo season-ending hamstring surgery.

While Prescott wasn’t expected to face off against the Houston Texans at AT&T Stadium next Monday night, there was speculation that the Dallas Cowboys could have an ensuing battle for QB1 entering the weekend.

That’s no longer the case. Cowboys coach McCarthy announced Monday evening that Cooper Rush would remain the starter for the standalone outing on ESPN.

“We have a lot of faith in Cooper,” McCarthy told reporters in Frisco. “Like I stood up here last week, everybody believes in him. How can you not based off the way he’s performed? But that fumble and the recovery attempt, that was off to a rough start. Just felt like he never really got into a rhythm.”

Rush, a longtime backup in Dallas, started in Sunday’s loss against the Philadelphia Eagles. The seventh-year completed 13-of-26 passes for 45 yards and lost two fumbles while being sacked once.

Perhaps the most significant takeaway was Dallas did not score a touchdown in their first game without Prescott, who left in the fourth quarter of Week 9’s loss against the Atlanta Falcons.

“Everybody has confidence in Coop,” offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer said. “Again, it wasn’t our best performance yesterday as an offense, for sure. Wasn’t all him. We’re all involved in that.”

The Cowboys might have named Rush the starter, but it wasn’t a forgone conclusion entering the fourth quarter. Former No. 3 overall pick Trey Lance played the final 15 minutes, finishing 4-of-6 passing for 21 yards. He was sacked twice and intercepted once.

Lance, who some believed would transform into the long-term answer for the San Francisco 49ers, also ran three times for 17 yards. Sunday marked his first regular-season action since being acquired by the Cowboys in 2023.

“I just felt he didn’t have reps in that particular situational work,” McCarthy said of Lance. “But then gave him some series based on where we were; thought he did some good things. And definitely some things he can learn from. It was good to get him out there.”
The Texans are looking to rebound after blowing a 16-point first-half lead against the Detroit Lions on Sunday night.
