Penn State makes latest top schools cut for four-star receiver TJ Moore

Penn State faces tough competition for Tampa four-star wide receiver in 2024

Penn State is on the search for a big-play wide receiver in the Class of 2024 to slide into an offense that is stabilized at running back and quarterback, and Terrance Moore in Tampa could be that player. The Tampa receiver target has Penn State on his radar as well after releasing his latest top schools list this week,

Moore, a 6′-3″ 190 lb receiver with terrific hands, revealed the top 13 schools in his latest update to his recruiting process, which included Penn State. In addition to Penn State, Moore’s list of top schools includes Auburn, Clemson, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Miami, Ohio State, Pittsburgh, Tennessee, Texas A&M, and USC.

Moore is a consensus four-star recruit with four-star ratings from 247Sports, On3, and Rivals. Moore visited Penn State in January for a Junior Day event in State College. He has since visited Pitt and Texas A&M and lined up a visit to Miami before his trip to Penn State. This latest development with the top schools list should impact the On3 recruiting prediction machine’s outlook as the top two schools, UCF and Florida State, apparently are out of the running. Of the schools listed, Penn State had the sixth-best odds of getting a commitment.

Penn State does not currently have a wide receiver lined up in its Class of 2024 recruiting efforts at this point, but it does have a tight end with a recent commitment from Luke Reynolds. Penn State’s early Class of 2024 commitments include a pair of cornerbacks and a pair of linebackers with an offensive lineman and tight end.

Penn State added one wide receiver in the Class of 2023 with Carmelo Taylor, but the Nittany Lions also added Malik McClain and Dante Cephas to the roster through the transfer portal.

Penn State’s Class of 2024 currently is ranked 13th in the nation according to the 247Sports composite rankings, and fourth among Big Ten programs.

2024 in-state WR target being recruited by top Florida QB commit

The Florida Gators’ are putting some effort into the 2024 class, with their blue-chip QB commit building a relationship with a highly-coveted in-state WR prospect.

It seems like [autotag]DJ Lagway[/autotag], the No. 2 quarterback prospect in the 2024 class, was serious when he said he wanted to help the Florida Gators build out the 2024 class.

[autotag]Terrance Moore[/autotag] is the latest player to receive a call from Lagway. The 6-foot-4-inch, 190-pound wide receiver recently spoke with On3’s Gators Online, mentioning how Lagway and the Florida staff are building a relationship with them in the hopes he joins the Orange and Blue’s 2024 class. As Moore narrows down his over 40 offers, the Gators look to highlight how close to home the SEC program is.

Only a couple hours’ drive from Gainesville, the Hillsborough County native told On3 that head coach [autotag]Billy Napier[/autotag] and wide receivers coach [autotag]Keary Colbert[/autotag] have been in contact, praising his game and hyping up the opportunity to play in front of the atmosphere that The Swamp creates. It also helps that Moore’s mother’s side of the family is part of the Gator Nation, describing themselves as Florida fans.

In addition to talking about his conversations with Napier, Colbert, & DJ Lagway, Moore told On3 that he could be in Gainesville next month after the dead period ends, joining a group of high-priority targets for the Gators. That would be a positive for Florida, as Moore is not sure what his official visit situation will look like this year.

According to the On3 consensus, the Tampa Catholic pass catcher is a three-star prospect. He holds offers from multiple big programs such as Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State, Georgia, LSU, Notre Dame, USC, Oregon, Texas A&M, Tennessee, Michigan, and many more. According to On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine, UCF, Florida State, and Miami are the top three teams in his recruiting, perhaps a future sign of recruiting with the other three Power Five programs in the state.
