Bills’ Terrance Gray has second interview with the Tennessee Titans

Bills’ Terrance Gray has second interview with the Tennessee Titans

The Tennessee Titans appear to have serious interest in a member of the Buffalo Bills’ front office as it relates to their search for general manager.

Terrance Gray, the Bills’ director of player personnel, has had a second interview with the Titans. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Gray’s scheduled No. 2 chat, however, the specifics of that conversations were not provided, just that it will occur this week:

Gray has spoken to or had interest expressed in his services relating to vacant general manager positions in recent offseasons. In terms of 2025, Gray’s second conversation in Tennessee is the first time he is speaking to a team for a follow-up chat.

Gray began his career in Buffalo in 2017 when the team hired head coach Sean McDermott and general manager Brandon Beane. Since then, Gray has worked his way up through the organization.

Originally hired as the team’s director of college scouting, Gray was promoted to assistant director of player personnel then moved up again in 2022. That latter promotion came about when the New York Giants hired Joe Schoen as their general manager, who was previously Buffalo’s assistant general manager.

The Titans first spoke to Gray over this past weekend.

Bills Wire will provide updates as information is made available.

Titans request to Interview Bills director of player personnel Terrance Gray

The Tennessee Titans have requested permission to interview Terrance Gray for their open general manager position.

The Tennessee Titans sent ripples through the NFL landscape on Tuesday when they fired general manager Ran Carthon. On Wednesday, they set out to find his replacement.

President of football operations Chad Brinker began his search to replace Carthon and started reaching out to potential candidates. We outlined some of the potential candidates yesterday, but as always, new ones emerge.

One name we didn’t mention in our article on 10 potential candidates was one of the first requests to come out, Buffalo Bills director of player personnel Terrance Gray.

Gray has seen his stock rise in recent years and made his rounds during the 2024 general manager hiring cycle, interviewing with the Las Vegas Raiders and Los Angeles Chargers. He has 21-years worth of experience at all levels of the front office after starting his career in the college scouting department with the Kansas City Chiefs. In all, he has worked with the Chiefs, Minnesota Vikings and Bills.

The Titans are said to be looking for a personnel guy and Gray has the experience that makes him attractive.

We will continually update the general manager search as each candidate interviews. Check back for any and all information.

Bills’ front office member Terrance Gray turned down the Patriots

#Bills’ front office member Terrance Gray turned down the #Patriots:

Terrance Gray has been a person of interest across the NFL.

But most recently Gray, the director of player personnel for the Buffalo Bills, has opted to stay in western New York rather than head to the New England Patriots.

According to MMQB’s Albert Breer, the Patriots had interest in bringing Gray on board. He declined:

Over recent offseasons, other NFL clubs have expressed interest in Gray. He did take up interview opportunities with the Las Vegas Raiders and Los Angeles Chargers… but evidently this position with the Patriots was not to his liking.

Per Pro Football Talk, at least three candidates have declined an interview opportunity in New England.

Chargers general manager candidate profile: Terrance Gray

Get to know Terrance Gray, a potential candidate for the Chargers’ general manager opening.

The Chargers completed an interview for their general manager position with Bills Director of Player Personnel Terrance Gray on Wednesday. Adding in Jeff Ireland and Ed Dodds, Los Angeles is up to seven reported interview candidates for general manager.

Gray joined the Bills in 2017 and ascended to assistant director of player personnel in 2020. He was promoted to full-time director of player personnel in June of 2022.

Gray comes up through experience as a college scout. Before his time in Buffalo, he worked for the Minnesota Vikings as a college scout for 11 seasons. Before that, he was with the Chiefs for three seasons in various roles.

Along with Bills’ assistant head coach Eric Washington, Gray was selected to participate in the NFL’s accelerator program in 2022. The program promotes diverse candidates, getting more spotlight on their candidacies for future head coaching and general manager positions.

Gray has playing experience as a cornerback in college. He played at Oregon State for his junior and senior seasons in 1999 and 2000.

The rapid ascent of Gray in Buffalo overlaps with the selection of Josh Allen in the 2018 NFL draft, in addition to other moves. It’s not a surprise the Chargers are looking to the original college scouts from the league’s best teams, given their current cap situation with future drafts in mind. The same is true with Joe Hortiz’s interview and candidacy from Baltimore.

Following the Chargers’ interview with Dodds on Wednesday, we’ll have to see if there are more candidates for Los Angeles to look at in their first round of interviews. Or if they start to get serious about narrowing the field with their second round of interviews instead.

His time in the professional ranks started with the Chiefs back in 2003, when he worked in player development and player personnel before he became an area scout in 2005.

Gray was a cornerback on Oregon State’s 2000 Fiesta Bowl champs that finished ranked fourth.
