Tennessee at Texas A&M: Three things to know

  1. Tennessee rebounded after a shocking home loss to Alabama on Jan. 2, topping Arkansas 79-74 in Knoxville on Wednesday. However, the Vols didn’t cover in that one, and they’re 1-3 ATS across the past four games after a 5-0 ATS start. The Vols also allowed a season-high 74 points to the Hogs, and they’re yielding 72.5 PPG in the past two games, which is more than 15 points higher than their season average of 57.1 PPG allowed.
  2. Texas A&M was manhandled last time out, losing 78-54 at South Carolina on Jan. 6, and they have lost their past two road contests by at least 23 points. It’s a good thing this one is at home, where the Aggies have posted a 6-0 SU/3-3 ATS mark in six home outings.
  3. The Aggies enter this game on a 6-0 Under run. They have struggled to score points, going for just 67.3 PPG this season, 274th in the nation. They’re also hitting triples at just a 29.2 percent clip. The Vols are fourth in scoring defense, and the opposition is hitting just 38.8 percent from the field, good for 29th in the country.

Tennessee at Texas A&M: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Tennessee 71, Texas A&M 57

Money line (ML)

Tennessee (-650) is going to work over Texas A&M (+475), but risking six and a half times your potential on a road team is just not good for business. Where is the value in playing such a heavy favorite? PASS.

Against the spread (ATS)

TENNESSEE -10.5 (-110) is a decent play on the road, although laying double digits is always a risky proposition, especially on the away team. The Vols have had just one road game to date, and they handled themselves with aplomb in that one. Tennessee spanked Mizzou 73-53 as 4.5-point favorites on Dec. 30.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 129.5 (-105) is the lean, although I’d go really light on this one. A&M has struggled to put the ball in the basket, and they should really have a hard time against Tennessee’s suffocating defense. The Vols did hit a rare Over last time out, but the Under is 1-0 in their only road game to date, and 6-3 overall this season.

Tennessee at Missouri odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Wednesday’s Tennessee Volunteers at Missouri Tigers sports betting odds and lines, with college basketball betting picks, tips and predictions.

The Tennessee Volunteers (6-0 overall, 0-0 SEC) and Missouri Tigers (6-0, 0-0) are slated for an SEC battle in Columbia, Mo., Wednesday. The Vols and Tigers will tip-off at 9 p.m. ET at Mizzou Arena. Below, we analyze the Tennessee-Missouri college basketball betting odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Tennessee is No. 6 in the Men’s Basketball Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports. Missouri is ranked 12th.

Tennessee at Missouri: Betting odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 10 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Tennessee -185 (bet $185 to win $100) | Missouri +150 (bet $100 to win $150)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Tennessee -3.5 (-115) | Missouri +3.5 (-105)
  • Over/Under: 132.5 (O: -115 | U: -105)

Tennessee at Missouri: Three things to know

  1. Wednesday’s contest at Mizzou Arena marks the SEC opener for both teams. The Vols and Tigers finished eighth and 10th, respectively, in last year’s circuit standings, but both are well-regarded as contenders on the conference (and national) scene in 2020-21. Tennessee and Missouri met once last year, with the Volunteers winning, 69-59. UT has won three straight and seven of its last 10 against Mizzou.
  2. The Vols enter Wednesday’s game ranked second in the nation in scoring defense. Tennessee has held every opponent to 66 or fewer points and is yielding just 52.7 points per game. In possession-rate analytics, the Volunteers rank in the top-20 in field-goal defense, blocked shots and creating turnovers. Over its last four games, UT is plus-28 in the turnover margin with 25 blocked shots.
  3. Missouri has also been strong on defense. The Tigers have held foes under 42% from the floor in five of their six games. Mizzou has allowed just 65.3 PPG (91st NCAA-I). A year ago, the Tigers were a top-60 defense, allowing 65.2 PPG.

Tennessee at Missouri: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Missouri 66, Tennessee 63

Money line (ML)

Mizzou has played the better schedule, and the Tigers have been especially sound in denying good looks, winning board battles and converting at the free-throw line. Look for a veteran group to hold its own with the Tigers in a game that goes down to the wire.

THERE IS VALUE IN A MISSOURI (+150) PLAY.

Against the spread (ATS)

Consider hedging with a split play by pairing the above with a TIGERS +3.5 (-105) ticket.

Over/Under (O/U)

Missouri is solid inside, but the Tigers will be tested by the Vols’ strong interior defense. Both teams play a slow-down style and will be looking to contest every shot to the hilt in order to get off on the right foot in league play.

BACK THE UNDER 132.5 (-105).

South Carolina Upstate at Tennessee odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Wednesday’s South Carolina Upstate Spartans at Tennessee Volunteers sports betting odds and lines, with college basketball betting picks, tips and predictions.

The South Carolina Upstate Spartans (0-7) visit the No. 8 Tennessee Volunteers (5-0) Wednesday for a 5 p.m. tip at Thompson-Boling Arena in Knoxville, Tenn. Below, we analyze the USC Upstate-Tennessee college basketball betting odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Rankings courtesy of USA TODAY Sports Men’s Basketball Coaches Poll.

South Carolina Upstate at Tennessee: Betting odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 4:42 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: No money line was listed at the time of publishing, likely because the spread is so large.
  • Against the spread/ATS: USC Upstate +31.5 (+115) | Tennessee -31.5 (-140)
  • Over/Under: 143 (O: -110 | U: -110)

South Carolina Upstate at Tennessee: Three things to know

  1. It’s been tough sledding for USC Upstate, as the Spartans have lost each of their seven games, including to Division II member Southern Wesleyan. The team has been a bit of a rudderless ship as head coach Dave Dickerson stepped away because of family health concerns due to COVID-19. Assistant Stacey Palmore has operated as the interim head coach with Dickerson meeting with the team only virtually.
  2. USC Upstate is averaging 70.4 PPG, ranking 215th in the country, and it is allowing 86.7 PPG to check in 323rd in the nation. The Spartans are also allowing the opposition to hit at a 49.8% clip from the field, also 323rd in the country.
  3. Tennessee smacked around St. Joseph’s by a 102-66 score, winning and covering for the fifth time in as many games. The Vols rank second in the country with just 51.2 PPG allowed, and a 34.3 field-goal percentage on defense, ranking fourth in the nation.

South Carolina Upstate at Tennessee: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Tennessee 93, USC Upstate 55

Money line (ML)

No money line listed. It wouldn’t be worth pursuing, anyway.

Against the spread (ATS)

TENNESSEE -31.5 (-140) rolled another winless team in St. Joe’s last time out, hitting triple digits on offense for the second straight outing. The Vols averaged102.5 PPG over the past two games, while allowing just 57.5 PPG. Tennessee is 5-0 SU/ATS so far, as well as covering three times as a favorite of 19 or more points.

Over/Under (O/U)

The OVER 143 (-110) is the lean, as the Tennessee offense has been on a roll lately, and is almost as effective as its lockdown defense. The Volunteers will get tougher tests once they start conference play, but for now, they’re mowing down the competition, scoring big numbers in games that aren’t even close.

St. Joseph’s at Tennessee odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Monday’s St. Joseph’s Hawks at Tennessee Volunteers sports betting odds and lines, with college basketball betting picks, tips and predictions.

The St. Joseph’s Hawks (0-4, 0-0 A-10) visit the Tennessee Volunteers (4-0, 0-0 SEC) Monday for a 6 p.m. tip at Thompson-Boling Arena in Knoxville, Tenn. Below, we analyze the St. Joseph’s-Tennessee college basketball betting odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

St. Joseph’s at Tennessee: Betting odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 6:25 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: There was no money line listed at the time of publishing, likely because the spread is so large.
  • Against the spread/ATS: St. Joseph’s +22.5 (-115) | Tennessee -22.5 (-105)
  • Over/Under: 146 (O: -110 | U: -110)

St. Joseph’s at Tennessee: Three things to know

  1. The Hawks of St. Joe’s have had some difficulty so far this season, but they have faced a tough schedule. They have losses are against Auburn, Kansas and Villanova, and they covered a 21.5-point number against ‘Nova last time out on Dec. 19.
  2. St. Joseph’s has had a difficult time on the defensive end, allowing 89.8 points per game to rank 329th in the nation. They’re also fair on the offensive side, posting 77.0 PPG to rank 111th overall. It’s probably no surprise that the Over has hit in each of its four games to date.
  3. Tennessee roughed up Tennessee Tech 103-49 last time out, covering a 29.5-point number. In their prior game, they blasted Appalachian State by a 79-38 score. The Vols are 4-0 ATS, and the Under has hit in three of four overall. Their defense is No. 1 in the nation, yielding just 47.5 PPG.

St. Joseph’s at Tennessee: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Tennessee 85, St. Joseph’s 55

Money line (ML)

No money line listed. It wouldn’t be worth pursuing, anyway.

Against the spread (ATS)

TENNESSEE -22.5 (-105) has been suffocating on defense, and all four of its games haven’t been against cupcakes, either. Sure, Tennessee Tech and App State aren’t exactly the cream of the basketball crop, but Colorado has been ranked, and Cincinnati is also on the victim list of the Vols. Tennessee is a strong team looking to make noise in what will hopefully be the 2021 NCAA Tournament.

Over/Under (O/U)

The UNDER 146 (-110) is the best option in this game, as Tennessee just doesn’t let up on the defensive end. Not only are teams scoring just 47.5 PPG against the Vols, but opponents are hitting just 32.9 percent from the floor, and 25.8 from behind the 3-point line. A winless St. Joe’s isn’t going to change anything, even if the Over is 4-0 in their previous four.

Texas A&M at Tennessee odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Saturday’s Texas A&M Aggies at Tennessee Volunteers sports betting odds and lines, with college football betting picks, tips and predictions.

The Texas A&M Aggies (7-1, 7-1 SEC) and the Tennessee Volunteers (3-6, 3-6) meet Saturday for a noon ET kickoff at Neyland Stadium in Knoxville, Tenn. Below, we analyze the Texas A&M-Tennessee college football betting odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

The Aggies are No. 5 in the Amway Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

Texas A&M at Tennessee: Betting odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated Friday at 4:20 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Texas A&M -600 (bet $600 to win $100) | Tennessee +425 (bet $100 to win $425)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Texas A&M -14 (-110) | Tennessee +14 (-110)
  • Over/Under: 52 (O: +105 | U: -125)

Texas A&M at Tennessee: Three things to know

  1. Texas A&M is going to keep its foot on the gas, trying to push their way into the college football playoffs, but they need a little help. First off, though, they need to help themselves and not look past a wounded, but still dangerous Tennessee side on the road.
  2. The Aggies have won and covered three in a row away from Kyle Field since its only blemish, a 52-24 loss in Tuscaloosa against Alabama back on Oct. 3.
  3. On the flip side, the Vols have dropped three in a row at home, falling by at least 12 points in each outing while going 1-2 ATS.  The Under is 4-0 in four home games for Tennessee, too.

Texas A&M at Tennessee: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Texas A&M 34, Tennessee 16

Money line (ML)

Texas A&M (-600) is going to get it done in Knoxville, and if they’re unable to get into the four-team playoff, it will be due to a lack of upsets elsewhere and not due to their own undoing. However, risking six times your potential return in a road game is a strategy that is a loser long term. AVOID.

Against the spread (ATS)

TEXAS A&M -14 (-110) is worth a small-unit wager, as the Aggies have covered three in a row on the road, and Tennessee +14 (-110) has dropped three straight at Neyland.

However, the Vols offense showed some signs of life at Vanderbilt last weekend in Nashville, albeit against a winless club. They’ll enter Saturday’s game, Senior Day for the Vols, with a little extra jump in their step.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 52 (-125) is the lean, and by lean I mean ever so slightly. Tennessee is actually pretty solid against the run, allowing just 133.3 yards per game on the ground to rank 34th in the country.

A&M is even better, allowing just 100.8 yards per game on the ground to rank ninth overall. They also yield just 22.1 PPG, and the Vols will be hard-pressed to do anything close to that.

Tennessee Tech at Tennessee odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Friday’s Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles at Tennessee Volunteers sports betting odds and lines, with college basketball betting picks, tips and predictions.

The Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles (0-7, 0-2 OVC) visit the 10th-ranked Tennessee Volunteers (3-0, 0-0 SEC) Friday for a 7 p.m. tip at Thompson-Boling Arena in Knoxville, Tenn. Below, we analyze the Tennessee Tech-Tennessee college basketball betting odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

The Volunteers are No. 10 in the USA TODAY Sports Men’s Basketball Coaches Poll.

Tennessee Tech at Tennessee: Betting odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 2:45 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: There was no money line listed at the time of publishing, likely because the spread is so large.
  • Against the spread/ATS: Tennessee Tech +28.5 (-110) | Tennessee -28.5 (-110)
  • Over/Under: 127 (O: -110 | U: -110)

Tennessee Tech at Tennessee: Three things to know

  1. The Golden Eagles have been roughed up through seven outings, losing straight up all seven times while covering just twice. In their most recent outing, they were spanked 74-50 in the second end of a doubleheader against OVC conference mate Jacksonville State. They have faced top-tier teams, Xavier and Indiana, falling by 30 to the Hoosiers on Nov. 25, and falling by 31 to the Musketeers on Dec. 2.
  2. The Volunteers roughed up Appalachian State by a 79-38 score, easily covering a 19-point spread. Not only are the Vols 3-0 SU, but they have covered each game to date. Defensively Tennessee is allowed just 47.0 PPG, second in the nation, and their defensive field-goal percentage (33.6) is sixth in the country.
  3. Tennessee Tech ranks 311th in the nation with just 59.7 points per game, and they’re 308th in 3-pointer shooting at 25.5 percent while checking in 288th with a dismal 62.9 free-throw percentage.

Tennessee Tech at Tennessee: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Tennessee 83, Tennessee Tech 47

Money line (ML)

No money line listed. It wouldn’t be worth pursuing, anyway.

Against the spread (ATS)

TENNESSEE -28.5 (-110) seems like a risky play on paper because they’re rather deliberate on offense and do not score a lot at 66.7 PPG. However, their defense is ferocious, and it won’t take much doing for the Vols to cover.

The winless Golden Eagles, who were waffled by Jacksonville State last time out, aren’t suddenly going to find their rhythm against one of the best defensive clubs in the nation.

Over/Under (O/U)

The OVER 127 (-110) is worth playing lightly. Yes, Tennessee Tech will find it very, very difficult to score on Tennessee. But the Vols will likely have their most productive offensive output of the season against the struggling Golden Eagles, who have allowed 73 or more points in each of the past three.

Appalachian State at Tennessee odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Tuesday’s Appalachian State at Tennessee sports betting odds and lines, with college basketball betting picks, tips and predictions.

The Appalachian State Mountaineers (4-1) travel to meet the Tennessee Volunteers (2-0) Tuesday for a 7 p.m. ET tip-off at the Thompson-Boling Arena in Knoxville, Tenn. Below, we analyze the Appalachian State-Tennessee college basketball betting odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Appalachian State at Tennessee: Betting odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 7:30 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Appalachian State +1500 (bet $100 to win $1,500) | Tennessee -5000 (bet $5,000 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Appalachian State +19 (-110) | Tennessee -19 (-110)
  • Over/Under: 130.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

Appalachian State at Tennessee: Three things to know

  1. App State rides in on a two-game win and cover streak, topping Charlotte 61-57 last time out on the road as three-point underdogs. They’re just one bucket short of a perfect record, as their only loss came Nov. 30 against Bowling Green in a 78-76 overtime setback.
  2. Tennessee has hit the hardwood just twice so far, topping Colorado and Cincinnati, winning by nine in each outing. They covered each game with the Under connecting in both. The Vols are averaging just 60.5 PPG to rank 302nd in the nation, but they’re fifth defensively with only 51.5 PPG allowed.
  3. The Mountaineers are averaging 80.8 PPG overall. They’re a very good free-throw shooting team, hitting at an 82.2-percent clip. Defensively the Mountaineers have allowed just 55.2 PPG, and they’re holding opponents to 35.7 percent from the floor.

Appalachian State at Tennessee: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Tennessee 69, Appalachian State 56

Money line (ML)

Tennessee (-5000) will cost you $100 for every $2 won, which is not a good betting strategy for the long term. PASS.

Against the spread (ATS)

APPALACHIAN STATE +19 (-110) is the play, as Tennessee -19 (-110) just haven’t rolled up big offensive numbers this season and haven’t come close to blowing anyone out. The Mountaineers will definitely give them a good test with their high-flying offense.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 130.5 (-110) is the lean, hitting in each of the past two for App State and both of the games for Tennessee. The Mountaineers are a strong defensive team, and they’ll keep the Vols down. Tennessee is also very deliberate on the offensive end, and they play suffocating defense, too. This game should be squarely in the 120’s.

However, Colorado should be a lot better than they were against Tennessee’s suffocating defense, and they won’t be nearly as rusty.

Cincinnati at Tennessee: things to know

  1. The Volunteers are 1-for-6 in getting games in thus far. UT has already had five games canceled since their originally-scheduled Nov. 25 opener. In between, Tennessee picked up a solid 56-47 home win against Colorado Tuesday. UT was solid on defense, holding the Buffaloes to a 33% mark from the field and forcing 22 turnovers.
  2. Cincinnati won two and lost one over a trio of home games. Saturday’s tilt in Knoxville marks the first road game of the season for a Bearcats team that went 4-7 against the spread in 11 away games last season. Turnovers committed and keeping foes off the offensive glass were key categories in which UC struggled when on the road.
  3. The 2020-21 Vols return four of their top six scorers from a year ago when UT went 17-14. Tennessee played a slow-pace style and averaged just 67.1 points per game (291st of 353 NCAA-I). An influx of new talent — three five-star recruits (G Keon Johnson, F Corey Walker and G Jaden Springer) — have the Volunteers well-placed in several early-season polls.

Cincinnati at Tennessee: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Tennessee 71, Cincinnati 61

Money line (ML)

UC is replacing three of its top five players (in terms of playing time). Peg the Bearcats to be on a bit of a downturn, if not for the whole season then at least in the first month or so.

TAKE TENNESSEE (-350).

Against the spread (ATS)

Cincinnati’s 2019-20 road struggles were especially evident early when the Bearcats started their road campaign with three straight ATS losses. With a hot shooting performance (60% effective field-goal mark) in its last outing, UC figures to be a tad overvalued.

An early-afternoon tip against a reloading Tennessee squad that can defend and create takeaways does the Bearcats no favors. Head coach Rick Barnes’ Tennessee teams have been strong out of the gate/early-season performers.

BACK THE VOLS -7 (-110).

Over/Under (O/U)

Both sides of the equation figure as slow-pace. There aren’t enough early-season clues pointing any other way and the figure here looks to be well constructed. PASS.

Tennessee at Vanderbilt: Betting odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated Friday at 11:15 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Tennessee -835(bet $835 to win $100) | Vanderbilt +550 (bet $100 to win $550)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Tennessee -16 (-110) | Vanderbilt +16 (-110)
  • Over/Under: 49.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

Tennessee at Vanderbilt: Three things to know

  1. Tennessee holds a 76-33-5 lead in the all-time series against Vanderbilt, including a 28-10 win over the Commodores last season at Neyland Stadium in Knoxville. Vandy won the previous three in the series, however.
  2. The Commodores saw PK Sarah Fuller kick off in its last game against Missouri, and she became the first female to participate in an FBS game for a Power 5 conference school. Vandy was blanked 41-0, so she didn’t get to attempt a point-after try or field goal, but the soccer goalkeeper’s chance at more history could come in this one.
  3. Tennessee has had a power outage on offense lately, going for 73 total points over its past five games. The Volunteers averaged 29.0 PPG in their first three outings, including 66 total points in their first two games, for their only wins of the season.

Tennessee at Vanderbilt: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Tennessee 23, Vanderbilt 12

Money line (ML)

Tennessee (-835) put up a decent effort last week in a 31-19 loss against Florida, but not enough to risk more than eight times your potential return.

Remember, while Vanderbilt is winless, the Vols are on a six-game losing skid themselves. AVOID.

Against the spread (ATS)

VANDERBILT +16 (-110) is the lean in this one on its home field, as the Commodores look to avoid the dreaded goose egg for the season. They’re going to take that L, but Tennessee has struggled offensively, and this will be an ugly game, as you would expect between two teams with a combined record of 2-14.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 49.5 (-110) is the slam-dunk play of the afternoon. Tennessee hasn’t scored more than 20 points since Oct. 10 in Georgia, and Vanderbilt hasn’t scored period since Nov. 21, getting blanked last time out. Vandy is averaging just 14.5 PPG overall, good for 125th in the nation. Its offensive highlight will be Fuller getting on the board and making history.

Colorado at Tennessee odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Tuesday’s Colorado Buffaloes at Tennessee Volunteers sports betting odds and lines, with college basketball betting picks, tips and predictions.

The Colorado Buffaloes (2-0) visit Knoxville, Tenn., to meet the Tennessee Volunteers (0-0) Tuesday evening for a 6 p.m. ET non-conference game at Thompson-Boling Arena. Below, we analyze the Colorado-Tennessee college basketball betting odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Tennessee is ranked No. 16 in the Men’s Basketball Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

Colorado at Tennessee: Betting odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated Tuesday at 7:55 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Colorado +200 (bet $100 to win $200) | Tennessee -250 (bet $250 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Colorado +5.5 (-110) | Tennessee -5.5 (-110)
  • Over/Under: 137.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

Colorado at Tennessee: Three things to know

  1. Colorado has been idle since defeating Kansas State, 76-58, on Nov. 27. Riding a combined plus-13 in turnover margin (16 own vs. 29 opponent), the Buffaloes have been impressive in winning their games by 23 and 18 points, respectively. Those first two, the Buffs are looking for three straight road wins for the first time since last November.
  2. Ranked Tennessee is playing its first game of the season after having three straight cancellations. The Volunteers were forced to pause all team activities on Nov. 23 after several players —  and HC Rick Barnes — tested positive for COVID-19. A return to action for the program was green-lighted over the weekend, so the Vols head into this game without much recent practice time as a group.
  3. The 20-21 Vols return four of their top six scorers from year ago when UT went 17-14. But Tennessee played a slow-pace style and averaged just 67.1 points per game (291st of 353 NCAA-I). An influx of new talent — three five-star recruits (Keon Johnson, Corey WalkerJaden Springer) — has the Volunteers well-placed in several preseason polls.

Colorado at Tennessee: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Tennessee 71, Colorado 64

Money line (ML)

Pegging Colorado as a top-75-type team, comps from Tennessee’s slate a year ago aren’t kind. But going back a couple years — when UT won 31 and 26 games, respectively — adds a more favorable outlook for the Volunteers. And with the talent influx in Knoxville, that seems the fairer comparison.

THE LEAN IS ON TENNESSEE, BUT STEER CLEAR OF ANY PRICE NORTH OF +225.

Against the spread (ATS)

Colorado is 1-6 ATS over its last seven games as a road dog (Unders have gone 6-1 over those same seven games). Barnes’ Tennessee teams have been strong out-of-the-gate/early season performers. And with the Buffs coming in after a 10-day layoff, this game is rust-vs.-rust even with it being a thrice-delayed lid-lifter for the Vols.

BACK TENNESSEE -5.5 (-110).

Over/Under (O/U)

UT is 6-1 over its last seven home tilts when favored in the 3.5-7-point range.  (The Vols went 5-2 ATS in those seven.) The pace figures as a low one, Tennessee can defend at a near-elite level, and it’s hard to envision shooting percentages surging on either side.

TAKE THE UNDER 137.5 (-110).
