Fast-rising in-state safety commit to attend Grill in the Ville this weekend

He flew under the radar for a while, but this in-state recruit could be a big get for the Gators this weekend.

Florida football’s first edition of its midsummer Grill in the Ville event, which welcomes prep prospects from a range of recruiting classes into the Swamp to build a closer relationship with Billy Napier and the Gators’ staff, is set to take place on Saturday, July 29, in Gainesville.

While the focus has been primarily on the four- and five-star visitors lined up for the midsummer gala, there are numerous attendees who have flown under the radar thus far but are still among the better prospects in the nation. One of those student-athletes is three-star safety [autotag]Teddy Foster[/autotag] out of Sarasota (Florida) Cardinal Mooney, whose stock has been surging as of late.

Napier and Co. took note of this upward trend and recently pulled the 6-foot-2-inch, 175-pound defensive back into the fold, earning his verbal commitment on July 14 — making him the 20th member of the 2024 recruiting class. The high school senior chose the Orange and Blue over the Miami Hurricanes and North Carolina Tar Heels.

“One thing that stuck out to me was (Coach Billy Napier) said, coming from Louisiana, he didn’t get five-star recruits and stuff like that,” Foster offered to 247Sports. “He may not have gotten those guys there, but he was always able to develop under-recruited guys. I believe right now that I am still raw. I am not done yet. I have only been playing high school football for like a year and a half now.”

Foster is ranked No. 757 overall and No. 68 at his position nationally according to the 247Sports composite while the On3 industry ranking has him at Nos. 688 and 69, respectively.

Gators add 20th commitment to recruiting class of 2024

The Florida Gators will not stop adding commitments to the class of 2024. Sarasota cornerback Teddy Foster makes it 20 pledges from the class of 2024 now.

The Florida Gators’ 2024 football recruiting class is now up to 20 members following the commitment of Cardinal Mooney (Sarasota, Florida) cornerback Teddy Foster.

He broke the news during an Instagram live stream Friday evening, picking UF over Miami and North Carolina. Foster has been considered a Florida lean for a while and he decided to make things official on his birthday. UF’s ability to develop players and a favorable scheme fit were among the deciding factors leading up to his commitment, according to 247Sports.

“One thing that stuck out to me was (Coach Billy Napier) said, coming from Louisiana, he didn’t get five-star recruits and stuff like that,” Foster said. “He may not have gotten those guys there, but he was always able to develop under-recruited guys. I believe right now that I am still raw. I am not done yet. I have only been playing high school football for like a year and a half now.”

Foster is a three-star recruit, ranked highest by Rivals.com at No. 58 among cornerbacks in the class of 2024. He’s far from the top-ranked player in Florida’s class, but he’s a potential diamond in the rough if Napier and Raymond’s collective intuition pays off.

In the SEC, it’s the four and five-star recruits that get the most attention, but it’s unwise to underestimate the three-star and lower players. They’re the hungriest to prove themselves, and Foster’s character is showing already.

Adding him won’t move the Gators up to the No. 2 spot on the team recruiting rankings, but it will help solidify an already elite defensive class.

Rising in-state cornerback prospect announces sets decision date

The Gators are heavily favored to land this rapidly rising recruit.

One of Florida football’s most-favored in-state recruiting targets set his commitment date for Friday, July 14, according to his announcement made on his personal Twitter account Tuesday night.

Three-star cornerback [autotag]Teddy Foster[/autotag] out of Sarasota (Florida) Cardinal Mooney released his top three schools last week, which included the Florida Gators as well as the Miami Hurricanes and North Carolina Tar Heels. However, the Orange and Blue hold a significant lead for the 6-foot-2-inch, 175-pound defensive back’s talents.

“I think UF is number one right now for sure,” he told Swamp247 following his most recent UF visit. “Development is crazy here. The resources are immaculate. My sister just got a diploma from here. The academics are off the charts. She had a great experience here. They check off all the boxes.”

The rising high school senior is a bit of a late bloomer on the recruiting scene after flying under the radar at the beginning of the calendar year. However, Gators secondary coach Corey Raymond spearheaded the effort to uncover this possible hidden gem with a visit to his high school back in May.

“He likes my frame, how I move, me being able to play both sides — safety and corner,” he told Gators Online. “Good size, good length.”

Foster is ranked No. 757 overall and No. 67 at his position nationally according to the 247Sports composite while the On3 industry ranking closely agrees at Nos. 767 and 67, respectively.

Florida holds two crystal ball predictions for him from 247Sports as well as the lead in On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine with an overwhelming 97.7% chance of signing him.

Coveted in-state cornerback includes Florida in top-3 schools

Florida football made the latest cut for three-star cornerback Teddy Foster out of Sarasota (Florida) Cardinal Mooney in the 2024 cycle.

Florida football made the latest cut for three-star cornerback [autotag]Teddy Foster[/autotag] out of Sarasota (Florida) Cardinal Mooney in the 2024 recruiting class on Thursday when he told Swamp247’s Blake Alderman that the Gators are one of three schools in the running for his talents.

The 6-foot-2-inch, 175-pound defender revealed his final trio of preferred programs to Alderman, a list that also includes the Miami Hurricanes and North Carolina Tar Heels. But among those three, the Orange and Blue still stands out.

“I think UF is number one right now for sure,” he said following his most recent UF visit. “Development is crazy here. The resources are immaculate. My sister just got a diploma from here. The academics are off the charts. She had a great experience here. They check off all the boxes.”

Foster is ranked No. 741 overall and No. 67 at his position nationally according to the 247Sports composite while the On3 industry ranking has him at Nos. 690 and 68, respectively. The Gators currently hold two crystal ball predictions from 247Sports while On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine gives Florida a 97.7% chance of signing him.

3-star cornerback recruit gets Gators prediction, sets official visit date

The Gators are leading the pack for this in-state cornerback, who also set an official visit date for this weekend.

Florida football’s recruiting efforts have been focused on some late-rising student-athletes over the past couple of weeks as Billy Napier and his staff rummage through the prep prospect pile in search of hidden gems.

Among those whose stock has risen meteorically in recent days is three-star cornerback Teddy Foster out of Sarasota (Florida) Cardinal Mooney, who recently received a Recruiting Prediction Machine pick from On3’s Corey Bender and has also set an official visit date with the Orange and Blue.

A handful of teams are in pursuit of the Sunshine State product, including the USC Trojans, Miami Hurricanes, Tennessee Volunteers, Michigan State Spartans, North Carolina Tar Heels, Oregon State Beavers and West Virginia Mountaineers.

However, despite the thick competition for the rising high school senior, the Gators have a wide lead in the race for his talents. As such, Bender’s confidence level for his RPM pick sits at a robust 70%.

Napier and Co. are scheduled to host the coveted cornerback this coming weekend, according to Swamp247’s Blake Alderman. After earning an offer back at the end of May from secondary coach Corey Raymond, the 6-foot-2-inch, 175-pound defender stopped in Gainesville this week before scheduling his OV.

He already seems to have a hankering for Hogtown.

“It’s just a good place if I was to stay in Florida. They play some good football, and it’s SEC,” he told Alderman.

Foster is ranked No. 724 overall and No. 67 at his position nationally according to the 247Sports composite while the On3 industry ranking has him at Nos. 678 and 71, respectively. On3’s RPM gives the Gators a 94.3% chance of signing him, with the other trailing behind.
