Taylor Lewan wonders if Caleb Williams is ‘the guy’ in the NFL

A veteran NFL offensive lineman discusses Caleb Williams as an NFL prospect.

Veteran NFL offensive lineman Taylor Lewan talked about Caleb Williams as an NFL prospect. You can listen to Lewan in the embedded video below.

Taylor Lewan has had an injury-riddled NFL career, and one wonders where his next stop will be. Titans Wire recalled what Lewan said a few years ago when he was coming back from an ACL injury:

“Football is now fun for me again,” Lewan said. “If there’s any difference between last year and this year, I’m enjoying the hell out of myself now. Last year, let’s not get it twisted, that (expletive) was (expletive) miserable… The first game was terrible, to the middle of the season. Yeah, at the end of the year things started going well, but damn, it was just not fun. Every week it was like, you don’t feel your best, you’re making one hundred excuses in your head. And then you get done, you’ve got to go unpack all those things, you can’t just pretend like it didn’t happen. I had to go and talk to a lot of people and figure that stuff out and unpack that stuff, and once we did, I feel a whole lot better. I feel more like myself than I ever have.”

Former NFL OT calls James Harrison a ‘rolling ball of butcher knives’

James Harrison was a remarkable player who many assumed took PEDs during his playing days despite never failing a drug test.

When he played, former Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker James Harrison was one of the fiercest, most angry players on the field. And his off-the-field exploits in the weight room were just as legendary. There have been few players as strong as him before him or after.

This type of strength drew lots of eyes, especially from the NFL and their drug testing team. During Harrison’s career, he was tested many times, often in back-to-back weeks or right after a huge game or viral Instagram video came out, and he passed them all.

But this didn’t stop former NFL players Taylor Lewan and Will Compton to speculate that Harrison did take steroids during his NFL career. The two went on the Spittin Chicklets Podcast and when the hosts asked them who they thought took PEDs and we had to share how Lewan described Harrison

“Who’s that black guy that lives in Arizona that used to play for the Steelers,” Lewan asked. “James Harrison bro, that guy is just a rolling ball of butcher knives.”

That’s a pretty accurate characterization of how Harrison played. But humor aside, the questions will always be out there about Harrison and whether he used PEDs and just found his way around the tests. I won’t say if Harrison did or didn’t but it’s pretty remarkable to think that he was able to pass every test if he was.

Taylor Lewan learns of Mike Vrabel’s firing during live interview

Former Titans LT Taylor Lewan was doing a live interview when he found out Mike Vrabel was fired. Check out his reaction.

Former Tennessee Titans left tackle Taylor Lewan was doing a live spot on a show when he found out that his former team was firing his former head coach, Mike Vrabel — and his reaction was about what you’d expect.

Lewan was a guest on the “Rich Eisen Show” on Tuesday to discuss his alma mater, Michigan, winning the National Championship when the news broke.

Not only was Lewan surprised, the former Pro Bowler also expressed his belief that Vrabel didn’t deserve to be let go.

“That is nuts,” Lewan said. “I knew there was clamoring going on in the inside… You could point a lot of fingers, but I didn’t think the finger you could truly point at was Vrabel. He’s a guy that — damn, Rich. I can’t believe this is happening right now while we’re talking. Oh my God.”

Lewan played for Vrabel for five of his nine seasons with the Titans and the two had a good relationship, so his support for the head coach is no surprise.

Lewan wasn’t the only player Vrabel coached to be surprised at the move.

Running back Derrick Henry, who is a free agent in 2024, told The Athletic’s Dianna Russini that he was “shocked” the Titans let Vrabel go.

Former Titans OL Taylor Lewan was stunned to learn of Mike Vrabel’s firing during a live call

What a time to find out.

The Tennessee Titans made a surprising move on Tuesday, opting to fire head coach Mike Vrabel after six seasons and two straight without playoff appearances. But for former Titans offensive tackle Taylor Lewan, the firing was a complete shock.

In fact, we saw Lewan learn the news just as it happened.

Lewan — a former star at Michigan — was supposed to join the Rich Eisen Show on Tuesday to discuss the Wolverines’ win in Monday’s CFP national title game. Instead, the breaking news shifted the conversation to Vrabel. It was safe to say that Lewan did not agree with the decision.

Lewan said:

“That is nuts. I knew there was clamoring going on in the inside … You could point a lot of fingers, but I didn’t think the finger you could truly point at was Vrabel. He’s a guy that — damn, Rich. I can’t believe this is happening right now while we’re talking. Oh my God.”

What a time to find out.

Former Pro Bowl LT Taylor Lewan says 49ers are going 17-0

A former Titans Pro Bowl LT is all aboard the #49ers bandwagon.

The 49ers’ hot start to the 2023 season continued Sunday when they knocked off the Cardinals 35-16 at Levi’s Stadium. They’re now 4-0 to start their quest of avenging a second-consecutive NFC championship game loss. San Francisco’s strong first four games has former Titans left tackle Taylor Lewan believing the team can make some history.

In an appearance with Kay Adams on her show, ‘Up & Adams,’ Lewan threw out the idea that the 49ers would not only beat the Cowboys in Week 5, but would actually win the rest of their games.

I think the Niners win that game,” Lewan said of the upcoming divisional playoff rematch. “I’m riding the Niners ’til they lose. And then I’ll come on this show and be like ‘hey, we finally lost. Thank God, I can start to think logically.’ But I think the Niners right now, in my mind, they’re going 17-0.”

A 17-0 run by the 49ers would be pretty remarkable considering the daunting schedule they have ahead of them.  Five of their remaining opponents are presently in the playoffs after four weeks. They also have a gauntlet late in the year where they go to Seattle on a short week, then visit the Eagles before heading home to face the Seahawks again.

They’ll certainly earn it if they wind up becoming the first team to win 17 regular-season games. There’s a long way to go until then though, and their first step is getting past the Cowboys at home in Week 5.

Andre Dillard has allowed as many sacks as Taylor Lewan did from 2019-22

Andre Dillard has already managed to tie Taylor Lewan’s sacks allowed total from 2019-22 despite playing in 32 less games and 1,685 less snaps.

As the saying goes, “the grass isn’t always greener on the other side” — and that statement couldn’t be more true as of right now when it comes to the left tackle position for the Tennessee Titans.

Following the disaster that was the Week 3 showing of Andre Dillard, former Pro Bowl left tackle Taylor Lewan posted a picture of himself in a Titans uniform with no caption at all.

The Michigan product’s post got me thinking about how bad Dillard has been as compared to Lewan. The results are comical, to say the least.

From 2019 through 2022, Lewan, who did miss his fair share of games due to injuries, played in a combined total of 1,860 offensive snaps, allowing just six sacks over that span, per Pro Football Focus.

Meanwhile, Dillard has given up six sacks over 175 offensive snaps through the first three games of the year, tying Lewan’s mark in 32 less games and 1,685 less snaps.

Even if you want to compare Dillard’s numbers to Dennis Daley, who started in place of an injured Lewan last season, it’s still bad. Dillard is on pace to give up 34 sacks and 91 pressures, while Daley surrendered 12 and 53, respectively, in 2022.

Something certainly has to change in the very near future, otherwise this will be another lost season in Tennessee.

Titans’ DeAndre Hopkins roasts Taylor Lewan, shreds radio host on social media

Titans WR DeAndre Hopkins was on fire on social media on Wednesday, with Taylor Lewan being one of his victims.

Tennessee Titans wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins was busy slaying people on social media on Wednesday, with his first victim being former left tackle Taylor Lewan.

Earlier in the day, the Titans shared a video of Hopkins walking out to the team’s first training camp practice of 2023, which led Lewan to joke that Hopkins probably got yelled at for walking to practice, a comment that seemed harmless enough.

But Hopkins fired a shot Lewan, saying the former Titans left tackle probably got yelled at for giving up five sacks to Chandler Jones, which he infamously did in Week 1 of the 2021 campaign against the Arizona Cardinals.

Lewan was a good sport about it, even sharing the brutal roast on Twitter, along with his reaction to it. You can check it all out below.

But Hopkins wasn’t done shredding people on social media, as he had quite the response to a radio talk show host who tried to get cute with a clip of the veteran receiver practicing.

You can check out D-Hop’s tweet right here, but we’ve provided a screenshot just in case he pulls an A.J. Brown and deletes it.

Hopkins has proven he’s great at catching passes, but clearly he’s also great at catching bodies (figuratively speaking, of course) on social media.

Mark him down as 2-for-2 here and remember: this man takes no prisoners if you go at him.

The Eagles are always doing their due diligence on potential roster additions.

With training camp just 15 days away, we wonder if any of the top remaining NFL free agents would fit in Philadelphia.

The Birds are stacked at almost every position.

With so many talented players available on the open market and only many roster spots, here are the best remaining NFL free agents.

Best available free agents before training camp

There is still plenty of quality talent on the free agent market

The New England Patriots are only a few weeks away from the start of training camp, and the free agent market is still full of talented veterans that could give the team a boost.

As of right now, the true potential trouble spots for the Patriots are offensive tackle, wide receiver and cornerback, depending on what happens with the Jack Jones situation.

New England might even consider bringing in a veteran running back to help take some of the load off Rhamondre Stevenson.

There will be opportunities for the team to add to the roster before and during training camp. It’s a fluid situation that’s constantly changing due to performance and injuries. The good news is there’s still plenty of help out there if the Patriots need it.
