Florida continues effort to flip Auburn-committed OT after recent visit

The Gators are looking for the inside edge on this Auburn-committed offensive tackle.

The Florida football program has been hosting visitors since the reopening of the prep recruiting contact period, making many inroads with a plethora of prospects from around the nation.

While it will take some time for these efforts to bear fruit, the Gators are hoping that one of their recent visitors is impressed enough with the Orange and Blue to flip from another orange-and-blue Southeastern Conference school that he is already committed to.

Four-star offensive tackle [autotag]Tavaris Dice[/autotag] out of Fairburn (Georgia) Langston Hughes in the 2025 cycle is currently committed to the Auburn Tigers but made an extended visit to Gainesville last week. After having been to campus a few times in the past, the 6-foot-6-inch, 275-pound lineman was in town once again from Thursday to Saturday.

Highlights from Dice’s trip to Gainesville

The three-day stay in Hogtown permitted the high school junior ample time to get acquainted with the members of the program as well as the campus itself — including a glimpse at what daily life is like at the University of Florida.

“Being with the players and seeing their everyday schedules was a good experience,” Dice noted according to Swamp247. “That was a key thing for last weekend. I was with Caden Jones, and he was good to hang around. After being hurt last season he told me important parts about the program, and about how it’s been since he’s been there.”

The Peach State product finally got a chance meet the Gators’ new assistant offensive line coach John DeCoster in the process as well.

“I saw a lot of good things from coach DeCoster,” Dice said. “You can tell he’s going to put effort into changing the program especially bringing NFL knowledge into the program. That’s going to change things a lot for the o-line.

His stop also coincided with the team’s first spring scrimmage, which took place on Saturday.

“The scrimmage was intense, the practice was structured for the ones going at it on defense, and offense it was fun to be there and experience that.”

Finally, Dice got to speak with the head coach himself, Billy Napier, who offered some extremely encouraging words.

“They told me that coming there could change my life. They also said no matter how long I’m locked in with Auburn, the specific thing the head coach told me was ‘he’s coming’, and he’s never going to stop recruiting me until the process is over.”

Recruiting summary

Dice is ranked No. 252 overall and No. 26 at his position nationally according to the 247Sports composite while the On3 industry ranking has him at Nos. 241 and 22, respectively.

2025 OL Tai Buster commits to Auburn

Hugh Freeze and the Tigers beat out Florida and Penn State for the three-star OL.

Auburn football has added size to its top-10 2025 recruiting class.

[autotag]Tai Buster[/autotag], a three-star OL from Kannapolis, North Carolina, announced his commitment to Auburn on Friday. He chose the Tigers over Florida, Penn State, and Rutgers.

Buster was one of several top targets to visit campus last week. While on campus… he watched practice, toured campus and facilities, and met with several coaches. He tells Jeffrey Lee of Auburn Live that he “feels at home” in Auburn and that he likes the energy and tempo of Auburn’s practices.

Offensive coach Jake Thornton played a key role in landing Buster, as he was college teammates with Buster’s high school offensive line coach at Western Carolina.

“They have the same philosophy,” Buster said of Thornton. “They want me to be the best football player that I can be. Coach (Kaleb) Spry is one of my favorite coaches I’ve ever had. I really appreciate him and everything he’s done for me. I feel like Coach Thornton will be the same way.”

Buster is a 6-5, 260-pound offensive lineman from Brown High School in Kannapolis, North Carolina. He is rated as a three-star from On3 and Rivals, but has not received a ranking from 247Sports or ESPN at the time of this post. He is the third offensive lineman to commit to Auburn’s 2025 signing class, joining [autotag]Spencer Dowland[/autotag] and [autotag]Tavaris Dice[/autotag].

Four-star OT Tavaris Dice names Auburn his favorite, sets commitment timeline

Auburn is the program to beat for the No. 22 overall OT from the 2025 class.

Auburn has become the favorite to land four-star OT [autotag]Tavaris Dice[/autotag] by multiple recruiting outlets, and Dice’s feelings toward Auburn are mutual.

In a recent interview with Phillip Dukes of On3, the offensive tackle from Fairburn, Georgia said that Auburn is his top school after taking several visits to the Plains since last September. However, Auburn has not locked Dice in yet, as several programs are beginning to sway his mindset away from the Plains.

“Now I feel like I’ve got some contenders that are trying to compete for that spot, for that first place spot,” Dice said. “You know, Auburn, they’re number one for me right now, but there are a lot of schools trying to take that spot from them right now. I’m getting a lot of big calls from different places.”

Florida, Florida State, Missouri, and Miami (FL.) are the other schools working to earn his signature, and he has set visits for Florida State and Miami for later this month. After that, he plans to announce his commitment.

“I think I’m going to move it up to April,” Dice said of his commitment timeline. “I am getting a lot of big calls and everybody is trying to take that spot. Everybody is competing now. So, I feel like after that camp, it really helped me a lot. Now, people are really seeing.”

Dice is looking for a program that he can immediately contribute to. He tells Dukes that he hopes to earn a Freshman All-America honor as well as other accolades during his first season on campus. Dice is a 6-6, 275-pound offensive tackle from Langston Hughes High School in Fairburn, Georgia. He is the No. 22 offensive tackle from the 2025 cycle and is the No. 33 recruit from Georgia.

Blue-chip OT has Florida in top 5, sets official visit this summer

The Gators are looking ahead to summer with the scheduling of this four-star recruit’s official visit.

Florida football may have appeared to be in a lull of late but behind the scenes Bill Napier and Co. continue to press on on the recruiting front. While focused on the upcoming opening of the contact period, they are also keeping an eye on the more long-term view as well.

The Gators are hoping to host the top prospects in the nation this summer in the Swamp, and part of that plan is bringing in four-star offensive tackle [autotag]Tavaris Dice[/autotag] out of Fairburn (Georgia) Langston Hughes onto campus.

According to a report from Gators Online, the 6-foot-6-inch, 275-pound trench warrior will make his official visit with the Orange and Blue June 14-16 — a date secured by offensive line coordinator Rob Sale. It will make his fourth journey to Gainesville, with the most recent coming back on Jan. 27 for one of Florida’s junior day events.

“They’re definitely still top five. What makes them top five is, every time I come down here they never disappoint,” Dice said after that visit.

“It’s always, how am I doing, how is my family doing? They always treat my family right. I’m always learning new things when I come here. They always teach me new things. And I’m not even a player committed here yet. Things like that are big for me, coming to schools. They show they care.”

Dice is ranked No. 257 overall and No. 26 at his position nationally according to the 247Sports composite while the On3 industry ranking has him at Nos. 242 and 23, respectively.

The Auburn Tigers hold two crystal ball predictions from 247Sports while On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine gives those same Tigers an overwhelming 96% chance of signing him.

Auburn becomes overwhelming favorite to land 2025 OT Tavaris Dice

Auburn’s chances of landing the four-star OL from Georgia are growing.

Auburn’s chances of landing a talented offensive lineman for its 2025 haul continue to grow.

Earlier this month, Christian Clemente of Auburn Undercover submitted a “crystal ball prediction” in favor of Auburn to land four-star OT [autotag]Tavaris Dice[/autotag] with medium confidence. Anna Adams, a recruiting analyst for 247Sports, shares the same sentiment, as she has also given Auburn a “crystal ball” to earn the signature of the Georgia product.

In a recent interview with Auburn Undercover, Dice tells Christian Clemente ($) that Auburn’s message is to keep “doing what you are doing.”

“Come up there, do what I’ve got to do,” Dice said. “And — no coach is ever going to tell you that you’re going to start, he’d really just lie to you — but if I go up there and keep doing what I’ve been doing, keep grinding, keep getting big, go up there and ball out in practice, I’d have a really good chance to start as a freshman.”

Dice is rated as a four-star OT by 247Sports, Rivals, and ESPN, and is a three-star by On3 from Langston Hughes High School in Fairburn, Georgia. He is the No. 22 OT for the 2025 class according to 247Sports, and is the No. 32 overall player from the state of Georgia. On3 feels strongly that Auburn can land Dice as well, as they have given Auburn a 93.3% chance to earn his commitment via the Recruiting Prediction Machine.

2025 4-star offensive tackle releases his top 8

The Tigers made the cut for the blue-chip prospect from Georgia.

One of the top offensive tackles in the 2025 recruiting class hails from Fairburn, Georgia, and he has narrowed his final list of schools down to an SEC-heavy top eight.

[autotag]Tavaris Dice[/autotag] is a 6-foot-6, 275-pound offensive tackle who plays for Langston Hughes High School. The Langston Hughes Panthers finished the 2023 season with a 9-3 record with a loss to Rome in the second round of the GHSA 6A state playoffs. The Panthers won the state championship in 2022 but they were unable to defend their title this fall.

The final eight schools Dice is considering are LSU, Auburn, Georgia, Florida, Missouri, Miami, NC State and USC. As I stated earlier, it’s an SEC-heavy top eight with five out of eight hailing from the best conference in college football.

LSU currently has six commits for the 2025 recruiting class. Their class ranks as the No. 7 class in the country by 247Sports.

2025 4-star offensive tackle projected to Auburn

Tavaris Dive has made several trips to Auburn this season and one expert believes the Tigers are the team to beat in his recruitment.

Auburn’s 2024 recruiting class is the toast of the town after the Tigers pried five-star wide receiver [autotag]Cam Coleman[/autotag] away from Texas A&M, giving [autotag]Hugh Freeze[/autotag] the centerpiece of his first class on the Plains.

However, Auburn is building one of the best 2025 classes in the country, boasting five blue-chip commitments already and one recruiting expert believes they are the favorite to land another one.

On3’s Cole Pinkston predicted that four-star offensive tackle [autotag]Tavaris Dice[/autotag] would join Auburn’s class. The prediction makes Auburn the heavy favorite to land the Fairburn, Georgia product, On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine gives them a 94.6% chance to win out for Dice.

He has made several trips to the Plains this season, including for the Iron Bowl and the games against Mississippi State, Georgia and Samford.

He is the No. 291 overall player and No. 21 offensive tackle in the On3 industry ranking. The 6-foot-6, 275-pounder is also the No. 32 player from Georgia.
