Trojans Wire YouTube show discusses USC commit Tanook Hines

There’s more to say about USC’s newest wide receiver commit.

Tanook Hines, the 6-foot-1, 185-pound wide receiver from Houston, chose USC over Texas, Notre Dame and Baylor. Hines is a dual-sport athlete who also runs track for Dekaney High School where he posted a blazing 10.45 100m time and a 20.71 200m time as a junior this season.

Hines is the third receiver in the Trojans’ 2025 class.

We talked about how Lincoln Riley is loading up on wide receivers for Julian Lewis and making sure the incoming USC commit is being catered to in a very necessary way. We also talked about the specific attributes and skills Tanook Hines brings to the table, as USC continues to affirm its reputation as a football program which brings in and develops the best wide receivers in the country. Hines is in a position to take the torch from Drake London, Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jordan Addison, and the other great USC receivers who have made this program a home for elite pass-catchers over the past several years.

What wide receiver Tanook Hines brings to USC

Versatility is Tanook Hines’ calling card.

In a significant turn of events, USC head coach Lincoln Riley secured his 14th commitment for the 2025 class from Tanook Hines, a wide receiver hailing from Houston, Texas. Hines’s decision came after he recently visited Notre Dame and his home state schools, Baylor and Texas. After his sophomore season, a little over a year ago, Hines received offers from more than 42 schools, including recent ones from Georgia and Ole Miss. In the end, many believed the competition for his commitment seemed to be primarily between Notre Dame and USC.

USC’s victory in securing Hines’s commitment is notable, considering that many anticipated a commitment from Lucas, Texas wide receiver Daylan McCutcheon the day before. However, McCutcheon ultimately chose Florida State over USC, Ohio State, and Texas.

Physically, Hines and McCutcheon share similarities, but Hines stands slightly taller at 6-foot-1 and weighs about ten pounds more at 185 pounds. Both players are known for their exceptional route running and their ability to play bigger than their size on the field.

What truly sets Hines apart is his versatility, with some believing he could excel on either side of the ball – as a receiver or a cornerback. This versatility demonstrates that Hines is not solely reliant on his elite track talent; he possesses the agility and ball skills necessary to excel on the football field as well.

Hines is the third four star wide receiver to commit to USC according to the 247Sports Composite, joining St. Louis’ Corey Simms and Baltimore’s Romero Ison.

Notre Dame football can’t sway Texas receiver, commits to rival Big Ten program

Not the best news to start the Irish’s week

The first to two big wide receiver dominoes has fallen for Notre Dame football, and unfortunately this one didn’t land the Irish’s way.

[autotag]Tanook Hines[/autotag], a Texas native, had Notre Dame among his final schools, but on Monday afternoon he decided that the lure of Southern California was too much to say no too. The 6-foot, 1-inch and 185-pound receiver committed to USC, taking yet another prospect off the Irish’s recruiting board.

The nation’s No. 355 overall player according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings decision hurts Notre Dame in multiple way, mostly that he opted to go to a rival school that is on the schedule in the future.

Hopefully, Notre Dame’s luck changes soon as they await the decision of Nevada star receiver Derek Meadows.

Notre Dame football wide receiver target Tanook Hines has changed his commitment date

The Irish will have to wait a bit long to see if Hines joins the 2025 class

Many were expecting to find out if Notre Dame football would be adding to its 2025 recruiting class on Monday, but we will have to wait for a few more days.

Texas wide receiver [autotag]Tanook Hines[/autotag] was originally set to commit tomorrow, but that has changed due to some bad weather that is expected to hit the Houston area. The 6-foot, 1-inch and 185-pound prospect will now make his decision a week from Monday, on July 15th according to a report by 247Sports Jordan Scruggs.

The Irish will have to wait just a bit longer to see if the nation’s No. 356 overall recruit according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings will join the class.

It does look like that will be the case, if the 247Sports Crystal Ball picks are correct, but we’ll have to wait until an official announcement from Hines.

Texas 4-star receiver has Notre Dame football in final group ahead of commitment

The Irish could add another receiver to their 2025 recruiting class very soon

With just a few remaining spots left in Notre Dame football’s 2025 recruiting class, the Irish can be picky about who they will accept a commitment from.

One of those players is Texas wide receiver [autotag]Tanook Hines[/autotag], who announced his top six schools along with a decision date of July 8th. Notre Dame is battling Texas, USC, Baylor, Texas A&M and Arizona State for the nation’s No. 351 overall prospect and 50th ranked at his position according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Hines took his official visit to South Bend just under two weeks ago, and now will ponder who fits best for him until he makes a choice.

The good new for the Irish is that there are two 247Sports Crystal Ball picks for the 6-foot, 1-inch and 185-pound Hines to pick Notre Dame. We will know soon if those predictions end up being correct.

Notre Dame football trending to for 2025 Texas wide receiver

The Irish could ultimately land the talented wide receiver

With not much room left in Notre Dame football’s 2025 recruiting class, they have to be very picky at which position and prospect they want to add.

Of the current 19 commits, the Irish have three current wide receivers in the fold and are looking like another one will join the trio. On Tuesday, two 247Sports Crystal Ball projections went in for Notre Dame to land 6-foot, 1-inch and 190-pound pass catcher [autotag]Tanook Hines[/autotag].

Both Tom Loy and Mike Roach have the nations No. 340 overall prospect and 48th receiver in the 247Sports Composite Rankings joining the Irish class eventually. Hines recently just visited South Bend, so the visit must have gone well.

If they are correct, Notre Dame will land one of the best wide receiver prospects in the 2025 class.

LSU’s recruiting staff ventured deep into the heart of Texas to look for a talented wide receiver in the 2025 recruiting class. They found one in Houston.

[autotag]Tanook Hines[/autotag] is a 6-foot-1, 170-pound, four-star wide receiver from Houston where he plays for Dekaney High School. The Wildcats finished the 2022 season 9-4 with a loss to Harker Heights in the third round of the 6A D2 playoffs.

There are currently no Crystal Ball projections for Hines and there are no favorites for him per On3.

Film Analysis: Hines is a great route runner with a ton of speed. He is the type of playmaker that you want to get the ball into his hands in any way possible.

Michigan football offers 4-star 2025 WR from Texas

Dude is supremely talented! #GoBlue

The Wolverines are looking to get in on a big-time wide receiver in fertile recruiting territory.

Texas is one of three huge states in terms of high school recruiting and it’s one place that Michigan football hasn’t necessarily made a huge impact in the Jim Harbaugh era — at least not as much as Florida, which is perhaps the most talented state.

Hailing from the Lone Star State, 2025 Houston (Tx.) Dekaney four-star wide receiver Tanook Hines already has a bevy of gigantic offers. Boasting 20 at this juncture, he reported one from the maize and blue, courtesy of wide receivers coach Ron Bellamy on Wednesday.

Hines has offers from Arkansas, Maryland, Miami, Missouri, Nebraska, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M, Wisconsin, and others.

In 2022, he reportedly had 50 receptions for 815 yards and seven touchdowns. He’s rated the No. 178 player in the 2025 class according to 247Sports’ proprietary rankings, the 26th-best wide receiver and the 23rd-rated player in the state of Texas.

Badgers offer class of 2025 wide receiver from Texas

Wisconsin offered Tanook “Nu Nu” Hines, a 6-foot class of 2025 wide receiver from Houston, Texas on Tuesday.

Wisconsin offered Tanook “Nu Nu” Hines, a 6-foot class of 2025 wide receiver from Houston, Texas on Tuesday. The sophomore at Dekaney High School still has two more seasons of football before he’d potentially make the leap to the collegiate level.

To this point, Hines has now received six Division 1 offers, with Wisconsin providing the first Big Ten offer. None of the major Texas schools have offered him yet, but they’ll likely do so in the future.

For the class of 2025, Wisconsin is a long way from finding out what players will ultimately commit to join them. That being said, with Luke Fickell and Phil Longo in town at head coach and offensive coordinator respectively, there is as high of a chance as ever that offensive talent will choose Madison.
