Saints release EDGE Taco Charlton… on Taco Tuesday

Taco Tuesday is a great day for just about everybody, except former Saints EDGE Taco Charlton, who was released on… well, Taco Tuesday.

Roster cuts are never funny. Players who are released from NFL teams, as hundreds were today as the league gets its rosters to mandated 53-man final decisions, are losing their jobs… and in some cases, their careers.

However, there are times when coincidences are too obvious to notice. One of the players released by the New Orleans Saints today was veteran edge-rusher Taco Charlton. Selected with the 28th overall pick in the 2018 draft out of Michigan, Charlton never quite lived up to his draft position, maxing out in his rookie season with 21 pressures, and in 2019 with five sacks. Charlton played with the Dolphins in 2019, with the Chiefs in 2020, and with the Steelers in 2021. So, he’s been around a bit.

The Saints signed Charlton in April, and he did flash a few times, with a sack against the Packers in Week 2 of the preseason, five total pressures, and three stops. But it evidently wasn’t enough for head coach Dennis Allen and his staff.

The worst part for Charlton? Perhaps that he was released on Taco Tuesday, which is normally a great day for all those who observe. Hopefully, if another team picks Charlton up, it happens a week from today.

Forget Taco Tuesday, Lakers coach Frank Vogel misses pizza

Los Angeles Lakers head coach Frank Vogel had a pizza party over the weekend because he’s not getting his regular pizza.

With another day of rest being afforded to the Los Angeles Lakers after the Oklahoma City Thunder forced a Game 7 in their first round series against the Houston Rockets, perhaps another pizza party is in order for Frank Vogel and the Lake Show. According to Vogel, his regular pizza consumption has taken a serious hit. So while Tuesday is typically a taco day for LeBron James, Vogel might be due for some more pizza, after having a “pizza party” over the weekend.

After Monday’s practice, Vogel discussed that he’s at a bit of a “pizza deficit” in the bubble, according to SB Nation’s Harrison Faigen.

“We had a pizza party [on Sunday], which, I’m not getting enough pizza in my life in this bubble,: Vogel said. “I usually eat it at least once a week, and I’m at a little bit of a deficit for my pizza eating. So we had a pizza party last night.”

If all goes to plan for the Lakers and they make it to the NBA Finals, they’ll be there for six more weeks. So hopefully there will be a couple of more pizza parties in order along the way before Vogel can return home to some of his favorite pies outside the bubble.

LeBron James is absolutely still celebrating Taco Tuesday in the NBA bubble

There’s no stopping Taco Tuesday.

When the NBA players first arrived at the bubble campus for the league’s restart at Walt Disney World in Orlando, the early reviews about the food were not exactly positive from the players. We were treated to unappetizing photos of boxed-up meals that had many joking about an end to LeBron James’ Taco Tuesdays.

Well, fear not because Taco Tuesdays are alive and well inside the bubble — at least in spirit.

In the latest edition of JaVale McGee’s video diary from inside the NBA bubble, McGee asked teammate Devontae Cacok if he knew what day it was. This was all a setup for LeBron who was lurking around the entryway.

LeBron chimed in:

“He don’t know what today is? Today is … TACOOOO TUEESSSDAYYYYY.”

Though we never got to see any photos of the bubble’s Taco Tuesday offerings (if they even had any?), LeBron wasn’t going to let the isolation of an NBA bubble get in the way of his undying love for Taco Tuesday.

Time might feel like a flat circle during this pandemic and days are meaningless, but Cacok will never forget about a Tuesday again in LeBron’s presence. That’s for sure.

This is fourth straight week that the Rockets have provided a “Taco Tuesday” lunch for an organization or event which has helped the Houston community during the COVID-19 pandemic. Previous stops included the Houston Food Bank, Houston Emergency Center, and for Metropolitan Transit Authority bus operators at the Medical Center.

“The blood drive today, we’re going to do 150+ people it looks like,” Rockets CEO Tad Brown said at the event. “We had another successful drive on Sunday. This is going to help the system really respond to the people in need. It’s just such an honor to be able to do this.”

Migos samples LeBron James ‘Taco Tuesday’ video for new track

Migos sampled one of LeBron James’ original Taco Tuesday Instagram videos for a new single they released this week.

In case you’ve ever wondered what would happen if one of LeBron James’ famous Taco Tuesday videos was turned into a song, Quavo, Offset, and Takeoff from Migos have given a realization to that imagination. One day before Cinco de Mayo, the Migos turned one of LeBron’s first Taco Tuesday videos into a hook of its own.

Migos released a new single on Monday, just ahead of Cinco de Mayo, entitled “Taco Tuesday,” that riffs off of a video that LeBron took with his family at the dinner table, involving all of his kids and his wife Savannah. The video already has 230k views on YouTube in less than a day.

LeBron’s former Cleveland Cavaliers teammate Kevin Love was also inspired by LeBron’s past Taco Tuesday content to create an Instagram of his mood for the day.

Kevin Love’s hilarious ‘Taco Tuesday x Cinco de Mayo’ LeBron edit

Cleveland Cavaliers star Kevin Love put in a little work on Photoshop to celebrate Cinco de Mayo and his buddy LeBron James.

Perhaps you know what day it is. Considering the length of the quarantine, it wouldn’t be a problem if you didn’t. But just in case, Kevin Love is here to remind you what day it is, using his buddy LeBron James as an artistic muse. Love was inspired to create a graphic because Tuesday is a double-whammy of events: it’s both Cinco de Mayo and Taco Tuesday.

LeBron James has been busy announcing that president Barack Obama will be a speaker on the Graduate Together special he is helping put on for the class of 2020, Love brought the mood for today with a hilarious photoshop edit.

Obviously, Love will be enjoying the day and the excuse to have some tacos. And perhaps he will have some tequila as well. As for LeBron James, there are probably some healthy tacos and some Don Julio 1942 in his future.

Rockets, Tilman Fertitta bring ‘Taco Tuesday’ to Houston bus operators

This Tuesday, the Rockets provided lunch to Metropolitan Transit Authority bus operators (METRO) at the Houston Medical Center.

Led by owner Tilman Fertitta, the Houston Rockets are extending their recent initiative of providing “Taco Tuesday” lunches for city personnel who are helping mitigate the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

For three straight Tuesdays, Rockets staffers have accompanied the “Taco Me Crazy” food truck to provide free lunches to essential employees. The truck operates from Fertitta’s local Cadillac Bar restaurant.

This Tuesday, the Rockets provided lunch to Metropolitan Transit Authority bus operators (METRO) at the Houston Medical Center, as a means of showing appreciation for their transport of healthcare workers.

Jerome Gray, executive vice president at METRO and chief communications officer, said in a video:

For the Houston Rockets and the Tilman Fertitta group to come forward in this way to show appreciation means so much to these operators and so much to the entire METRO organization.

It’s an acknowledgement… a ‘thank you’ to essential services and essential employees who might not otherwise get recognized.

Earlier ‘Taco Tuesday’ visits by the Rockets have included the Houston Food Bank and the Houston Emergency Center.

LeBron’s chef gives up-close look at her Taco Tuesday operation

LeBron James’ chef Dena Marino gave her followers an up-close look at the tacos LeBron enjoys every Tuesday.

If you’ve ever wondered what exactly is in those tacos that LeBron James celebrates so much on his Instagram, you no longer have to wait anymore to get the details on the King’s favorite tacos. As you would expect, LeBron’s tacos are probably healthier than ours, but now we have a much better idea of what exactly has inspired LeBron to enjoy it weekly.

LeBron’s personal chef Dena Marino showed her followers an up-close look at LeBron’s fried fish tacos with charred corn on top and some sort of slaw that the fish rests on and what looks like some pico de gallo.

Chef Marino has been showing off a lot more of her recipes and approaches in the kitchen during the quarantine. If you love amazing pictures of food, her Instagram is a good place to hang out.

LeBron James partners with Old El Paso for Taco Tuesday challenge

LeBron James and his UNINTERRUPTED company are doing a Taco Tuesday challenge for athletes to provide tacos to their communities.

Last week LeBron James and his LeBron James Family Foundation provided over 1,000 meals to families as part of a new Taco Tuesday initiative that is intended to feed families from the “I Promise” school and others in need. And as LeBron has usually found a way to do with his charitable efforts, he found a brand to help pay for it and it’s now evolving into something else.

LeBron’s UNINTERRUPTED partnered with Old El Paso to create the “Taco Tuesday” challenge, in which athletes will provide their communities with meals while also challenging other athletes to do the same for their respective communities.

After LeBron was challenged, he passed the challenge on to NFL star receiver DeAndre Hopkins, who was recently traded from the Houston Texans to the Arizona Cardinals.
