Quavo’s incredible tribute to Takeoff led this year’s powerful Grammys ‘In Memoriam’ segment

Wow, this tribute got us a little misty.

One of the most incredible moments at this year’s Grammy Awards was a deeply moving tribute to late Migos member Takeoff performed by Quavo, his former groupmate and uncle.

Quavo performed his song “Without You” that he shared some time after Takeoff’s death last fall. Contemporary worship group Maverick City Music joined Quavo onstage for the performance and added in lyrics from the Wiz Khalifa/Charlie Puth Furious 7 tearjerker “See You Again.”

For those still in shock over the hip-hop titan’s tragic death, the performance helped illuminate why the Grammys continue to knock it out of the park with the show’s annual In Memoriam segments.

Even if you’re only somewhat familiar with Migos, it’s hard not to get swept up in your emotions over this deeply moving tribute.

Kacey Musgraves also paid homage to late country icon Loretta Lynn during the ceremony in this moving performance of “Coal Miner’s Daughter.”

We also got a beautiful tribute from Mick Fleetwood, Sheryl Crow and Bonnie Raitt for late Fleetwood Mac member Christine McVie. They played Fleetwood Mac’s “Songbird” in McVie’s honor.

Also, don’t worry if you were worried if the In Memoriam segment left out late Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins. The Grammys honored his life during last year’s ceremony.

Quavo finally got revenge on Drake with a bet on Georgia to win the National Championship game

“I need my chips with the dip”

My my, how the tables have turned in 2022.

Normally, when Drake bets on teams or picks teams to win big games it does not go well. The history of the Drake sports curse is well documented. It was so good, in fact, that he used it against the 76ers back in 2019 to get the Raptors to the NBA Finals.

Only two teams have survived the curse to my knowledge. They are those same Toronto Raptors and the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Back in 2018 during that year’s Alabama vs. Georgia National Championship game, Drake made a bet with Atlanta native Quavo on the Crimson Tide and we were almost certain it meant doom for Nick Saban and the gang.

We were wrong. Bama won. So Drake also won. He told Quavo he needed his “chips with the Huncho Jack dip.”

Fast forward to 2022, though, and it’s a different story. The two teams met again with, obviously, a different outcome. Now, the metaphorical chips and dip have changed hands. Drake owes Quavo money.

And Drake, apparently, ain’t picking up the phone.

Naaaah you absolutely hate to see it. Don’t be a poor sport, Drake. Run that man his money.

This is absolutely hilarious.

Quavo: Georgia’s Richard LeCounte is ‘steal of the draft’

Georgia Bulldogs safety Richard LeCounte is looking like one of the better picks in the 2021 NFL draft.

The Cleveland Browns selected Georgia Bulldogs safety Richard LeCounte with the 169th pick of the 2021 NFL draft. Now, LeCounte is already looking like a great pick for Cleveland.

Richard LeCounte’s impressive NFL preseason performances earner him a shoutout from famed musician and rapper Quavo.

Quavo proclaims, via Twitter, that Richard LeCounte is the steal of the 2021 NFL draft:

Quavo, who is the vocalist for the hip hop trio Migos, is a little bit biased toward the Georgia Bulldogs. Quavo was born in Athens, Georgia, has attended several Georgia football games over the years including a few big games that Richard LeCounte played in. He’s certainly one of the more famous celebrity fans of UGA.

So far, Richard LeCounte looks sharp in the NFL. He recorded an interception and deflected pass for the Cleveland Browns in his NFL preseason debut and then intercepted another pass in his second preseason game.

LeCounte was a ballhawk at Georgia and it looks like he will continue to be one in the NFL. LeCounte fell in the 2021 NFL draft due to concerns about his health after he suffered serious injuries in an traffic accident. When LeCounte is healthy, he has a knack for making the big play.

If Richard LeCounte can stay healthy throughout his NFL career, then he may end up as one of the best picks of the 2021 NFL draft.

Comparing every starting QB to a different rapper

Raiders writer Maliik Obee, better known as @NFLMaliik on Twitter, compared every current starting quarterback in the league to a different hip-hop artist with an explanation for each.

The start of the NFL’s 2020 regular season is still a few weeks away and without a preseason, there isn’t much for fans to talk about other than training camp practice highlights.

Sometimes we rely on player comparisons to fill the void. But who says we have to restrict our comparisons to a single sport, or even the same genre?

Writer Maliik Obee, better known as @NFLMaliik on Twitter, compared every current starting quarterback to a different hip-hop artist. Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan was described as rapper Freddie Gibbs:

There’s some other really interesting comparisons that Falcons fans will enjoy, especially this savagely accurate description Saints QB Taysom Hill.

Check out the rest of Obee’s QB/rapper comparisons below.

Migos samples LeBron James ‘Taco Tuesday’ video for new track

Migos sampled one of LeBron James’ original Taco Tuesday Instagram videos for a new single they released this week.

In case you’ve ever wondered what would happen if one of LeBron James’ famous Taco Tuesday videos was turned into a song, Quavo, Offset, and Takeoff from Migos have given a realization to that imagination. One day before Cinco de Mayo, the Migos turned one of LeBron’s first Taco Tuesday videos into a hook of its own.

Migos released a new single on Monday, just ahead of Cinco de Mayo, entitled “Taco Tuesday,” that riffs off of a video that LeBron took with his family at the dinner table, involving all of his kids and his wife Savannah. The video already has 230k views on YouTube in less than a day.

LeBron’s former Cleveland Cavaliers teammate Kevin Love was also inspired by LeBron’s past Taco Tuesday content to create an Instagram of his mood for the day.

Trae Young scores career-high 50 points against Miami Heat

The former Sooner point guard continues to make history in his second season in the NBA.

The former Sooner point guard continues to make history in his second season in the NBA.

Trae Young dropped 50 points against the Miami Heat last night, helping Atlanta squeak a 129-124 win at home.

Young, who has already logged nine 40+ point games this season, set a new career-high in his first game back from a memorable first All-Star Game appearance.

Shooting 8-15 behind the line while getting to the free-throw line 19 times, Young was efficient while willing the Hawks to just their sixteenth win of the season.

Alongside his fantastic scoring, Young hauled in two rebounds and dished out eight assists in his takeover.

To put the cherry on top of the night, Young gave his jersey to Migos member and Atlanta native, Quavo.

The performance set Twitter ablaze with people appointing Young as ‘the new Steph Curry’ while others admitted that they were wrong about Young when he was drafted in 2018.

On the season, Young is averaging 30.1 points per game, 4.4 rebounds per game, and 9.2 assists per game while shooting 44.4%from the field and 37.4% from three.

Ranking Quavo, Justin Bieber and Drake by their basketball skill

These dudes can really hoop!

“Athletes wanna be rappers, rappers wanna be athletes.” Those are words from the illustrious street poet and superstar Lil Wayne back in 2014. It’s true. If you need proof, look no further than your Twitter timeline, folks.

If you’ve logged on today, you’ve been blessed with the incredible privilege of watching rap and R&B superstars Quavo, Drake and Justin Bieber hoop in NBA super trainer Chris Brickley’s gym.

Keeping it real with y’all? They got some skill. Can’t even hate on it.

Jumpers all look a bit goofy, but they look pretty good! Like, I’m pretty sure Quavo could probably hoop on, like, a Division II college level or something! That’s how good he looks.

Drake and Bieber? I’m confident they could try out for the Canadian national team and at the very least make it to the cuts that happen right before the final cuts to the team. That’s a compliment! I swear! Well, to them, anyway. Not to Canada’s national team.

Obviously, this wouldn’t be a prime piece of internet content if we didn’t rank them. So guess what? We’re ranking them!

3. Drake

Yeah, I’m pretty sure Drake is that guy at pick up who can literally only shoot the ball and that’s it. How do I know? This was the first thing we saw him do.

Now, don’t get it twisted. That’s a valuable skill on the pick up court. But… just don’t ask him do to anything else.

By the way, I know y’all peeped that Kawhi Leonard bounce at the end. What kind of basketball magic do they have going on up in Toronto?

2. Justin Bieber

Listen here, man. Not a huge Justin Bieber fan, y’all. Can’t lie about it. But he’s definitely played some sort of organized basketball before.

My man gave us a hit ahead pass, attacked a closeout, got the the rack and gave us a no-look dump-off dish. And he made it look cool, too, which always gets you bonus points in my book.

Yeah, fam, Bieber got sauce. I’m getting hella White Chocolate vibes from the Biebs. Is that because he’s white? Potentially.

1. Quavo

Quavo is really good, y’all. I mean, really REALLY good. He’s pulling up in people’s faces off the rip in the most disrespectful fashion.

No, but really, props to Quavo for having game. This is dope. The only flaw that was apparent was his hesi-to-shot combo.

There was nothing wrong with the hesitation move, but fam, when you pull it out for three straight dribbles? Nobody should fall for this. He still hit the shot, though, so ¯_(ツ)_/¯.

This was fun to watch. Hit me for the next game, y’all. I’m down.
