Nets’ Kyrie Irving talks about being uncomfortable behind LBJ, KD

In a preview for HBO’s The Shop, Nets’ guard Kyrie Irving opens up about playing behind LeBron James and teammate Kevin Durant.

Kyrie Irving is returning to the Brooklyn Nets this season after not seeing eye-to-eye with management earlier this summer, and the star just opened up on how “uncomfortable” it can be to play behind icons like LeBron James and teammate Kevin Durant.

In a preview for the upcoming Uninterrupted show ‘The Shop’, Irving took a seat alongside renowned actors, entrepreneurs and other celebrities, including Idris Elba and Drew Barrymore.

“Playing with ‘Bron and playing with KD, within our culture they are true icons, but I had to fill in those shoes that were very uncomfortable for me,” Irving said.

Irving also discussed his artistic vision on the court.

“The tool I chose to use as my paintbrush is my basketball. When I describe myself as an artist it gives me an opportunity to do whatever I want.”

LeBron James shares message of support for NASCAR’s Bubba Wallace

Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James voiced his support for NASCAR’s Bubba Wallace after a noose was found in his garage at Talladega.

Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James was one of many who came to voice their support on Sunday for NASCAR driver Darrell “Bubba” Wallace after NASCAR released a statement earlier that night that they would be launching an investigation after a noose was found in Wallace’s garage area. Wallace is the only Black full-time driver in the Cup Series and has been a leading voice in the sport’s commitment to fighting against its history of cozying up to racist symbols, such as the Confederate flag, which was only recently banned by the racing league.

James wanted to let Wallace know that he is not alone in this fight against racism while also commending NASCAR for taking the issue seriously.

James has shown a lot of support for Wallace over the past few weeks as Wallace has been more vocal in asking NASCAR and its community of fans to support Black lives. Many others in the sports community came to show their support for Wallace.

LeBron James and Tom Brady to work together on new Apple show

Lakers star LeBron James and NFL star Tom Brady are collaborating on a new sports program for Apple TV-+.

LeBron James and Tom Brady are two of the biggest names of their generation and they will be joining forces together in a new production about their exploits on the court and the field, that will be featured as part of Apple TV-Plus. LeBron and Brady will both be featured as stars in the show, while also having a hand in the production, through their companies UNINTERRUPTED and Religion of Sport.

Director Gotham Chopra, who also directed ‘Shut Up and Dribble,’ produced by UNINTERRUPTED and Religion of Sport for Showtime, will direct the new Apple series entitled “Greatness Code,” Apple announced on Thursday. In addition to LeBron and Brady, Usain Bolt, Alex Morgan, Katie Ledecky, and Shaun White will all have ‘short-form’ documentaries about them.

LeBron James always busy with the production of sports-related content, but he’s been even busier over the past few weeks. The announcement of the new Apple series comes less than two weeks after UNINTERRUPTED and Quibi announced a new documentary about the Houston Astros sign-stealing cheating scandal. Earlier this week it was reported that he’s also working on a Netflix movie with Adam Sandler, who will play an American basketball scout overseas who is trying to make his way back to the NBA.

Astros Alex Bregman leaves Klutch Sports after LeBron’s Astros doc announced

Houston Astros star Alex Bregman was one of the biggest names in the new baseball division of Klutch Sports.

It appears that for one of the first times, at least in a publicly available setting, LeBron James’ businesses had a little bit of a conflict of interest, which played out earlier this week involving his sports media company UNINTERRUPTED and the relatively new baseball division of Klutch Sports.

It was announced on Friday that UNINTERRUPTED would be producing a new documentary for Quibi that focuses on the Houston Astros sign-stealing scandal that rocked the sports world earlier this winter. Among the featured guests in the show will be a former Astros rival and New York Yankees ace pitcher C.C. Sabathia.

Then on Tuesday, The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal reported that Houston Astros star Alex Bregman, one of the biggest baseball clients announced by Klutch in the winter, has fired agent Brodie Scofield, who runs the baseball division of Klutch Sports. The report said the documentary wasn’t the only reason, but that it was certainly “the last straw,” in the relationship between Bregman and Scofield.

Growth often comes at a cost and while UNINTERRUPTED continues to be a growing brand in the media landscape, that growth came at the cost of Klutch losing one of its biggest baseball clients. However, although Bregman is a great player, we already know how LeBron feels about the Astros. He probably doesn’t consider it much of a loss.

UNINTERRUPTED announces Houston Astros documentary for Quibi

LeBron James has already stated that he wants the Houston Astros punished for what they did.

LeBron James and Maverick Carter’s sports media company UNINTERRUPTED is staying busy even though sports, save for the UFC, aren’t happening in North America right now. Throughout ‘The Last Dance,’ UNINTERRUPTED has had a lot of great interviews with athletes over the past few weeks, and now, they will also have some more content going to the new platform, Quibi.

UNINTERRUPTED announced on Friday morning that they have agreed to a deal with Quibi to do a documentary on the Houston Astros sign-stealing scandal entitled ‘Sign Language.’ Although LeBron’s name is not on the production as an executive producer, we already know how he feels about how the MLB handled the punishment for the Astros. James said that the Astros violated the very fabric of sports with their actions.

Here’s how the documentary envisions itself, via a press release.

The documentary will transcend the baseball diamond to explore larger themes of greed, cheating, corruption, sportsmanship and social media activism. Using UNINTERRUPTED’s hit podcast R2C2 with CC Sabathia and Ryan Ruocco, access to top athletes, sports reporters and The Cinemart’s award-winning investigative filmmaking, ‘SIGN LANGUAGE’ will be the definitive documentary about the scandal that rocked America’s pastime.

Also, anytime to bring back “listen here baseball commissioner” is a good time. There’s no official date on when the documentary will be available on Quibi.

Maverick Carter says Steph Curry would have ‘trouble’ guarding him

LeBron James’ business partner and friend Maverick Carter made some hyperbolic comments the other night about Steph Curry’s defense.

The quarantine has everybody saying things that we are probably not going to hold them to in the long run. And given the lack of sports we’ve had for such a long time, folks are going to be more prone to hyperbole than usual. Such was the case on Sunday night when Maverick Carter, LeBron’s business partner and co-founder of UNINTERRUPTED and SpringHill Entertainment, suggested that Golden State Warriors guard Steph Curry would “have trouble” guarding him during the UNINTERRUPTED “After Party” show following the first episodes of “The Last Dance.”

During that show, Curry’s teammate Draymond Green also used an example from the show of Michael Jordan playing Danny Ainge in golf during a playoff series as an example that the NBA wasn’t as “cutthroat” as people say it was in the 80s and 90s. Then Carter, in trying to talk about team building and relating it to Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen and the Bulls, suggested that Stephen Curry’s defense is so poor he’d have trouble guarding him.

“If I’m the best at doing my thing, I need the other people to clear the way so I can do my thing. So Scottie (Pippen) took care of everything else. They brought up those stats. Scottie was second in rebounds, second in points, first in steals, blah blah blah.

“It’s just like the Warriors — the world knows Steph (Curry) can’t f–king play defense. I’m 38 — haven’t played a decent game of basketball in 18 years — Steph would have trouble guarding me.

“But Steph is the greatest shooter in the world. When that motherf–ker gets rolling you can’t stop him — he can hit any shot from anywhere on the court.

(Hat-Tip NBC Sports Bay Area)

Obviously, Carter is clearly exaggerating. And I’m not going to hold him too hard to things he said after likely having a few glasses of 1942 during “The Last Dance.” But he did say it. However, if it was that serious, Green likely would have taken a lot more offense to the notion that Curry is a poor defender. While it may have been true early in his career, Curry is not a liability on defense. It’s hard to impossible to have an All-Time defense like the Warriors had over the previous five seasons with a “bad” defender.

Draymond Green calls out myth of more cutthroat, competitive 1980s-90s NBA

Golden State Warriors guard Draymond Green used the example of Michael Jordan playing golf in the playoffs with Danny Ainge in 1986.

Players these days are just to buddy-buddy. Players these days have been at all of the same camps and now they work together both on and off the court.  These are just a few of the complaints that have been levied against the current era of the NBA, led by LeBron James, Kevin Durant, and Stephen Curry. But Curry’s teammate Draymond Green, who is also represented by Rich Paul of Klutch Sports, believes that history shows a few of those myths to be untrue.

While it is absolutely a fact that players these days have benefited from the league’s increasing financial power, many of the trappings of the NBA remain, as laid bare by the first episode of “The Last Dance,” a documentary about Michael Jordan that aired this weekend on ESPN. In the first episode, Jordan, known to the basketball world as the greatest competitor its ever seen, plays golf in-between playoff games with Boston Celtics guard Danny Ainge. This struck Draymond as a hilarious part in the story, given Jordan’s reputation and the projecting often done on Draymond’s own era by players from the past and fans who won’t let go of it.

Draymond was a guest on UNINTERRUPTED’s After Party show, which followed “The Last Dance.”

Nobody is questioning Jordan’s competitiveness, but just because we are more aware of the friendships that NBA players have with each other that are made in competition, doesn’t mean it’s more prevalent now than it ever was before. Everyone gets paid more, yes. But it’s not as if everyone is more friendly now just because of the money.
