Cleveland reportedly hired at Wichita State as assistant

T.J. Cleveland, the former Arkansas guard and assistant coach, has a new gig as he will be an assistant for Wichita State in 2023-2024.

Former Arkansas Razorback guard and assistant coach T.J. Cleveland was reportedly hired by Wichita State as an assistant last week.

Cleveland, the nephew of former Arkansas head coach Mike Anderson, has never served on a staff that wasn’t headed by his uncle.

Most recently, Cleveland served on Anderson’s staff at St. John’s before Anderson was fired unceremoniously and the Red Storm subsequently hired Rick Pitino.

Cleveland served on Anderson’s staffs at UAB, Missouri, Arkansas and St. John’s.

He will be reporting to Shockers head coach Paul Mills. Originally, Chris Hollender, who most recently worked under Dennis Gates at Missouri, was the assistant hire, but he resigned because of personal reasons.

A four-year letter winner at guard for the Razorbacks, Cleveland was on teams that went to three NCAA tournaments and won the program’s only SEC Tournament title in 2000.
