Sydney Sweeney responds to Oregon Duck’s sign

The Oregon Duck tried flirting with actress Sydney Sweeney

Actress Sydney Sweeney took time to respond to The Oregon Duck’s sign message early Saturday.

The quacky, daffy mascot took his chance to reach out to Sweeney, hoping for a call.

And the response was perfect:

Sydney Sweeney gave a classic excuse for not calling the Oregon Duck back

The Oregon Duck shot their shot with Sydney Sweeney.

Sydney Sweeney watches College GameDay too, apparently.

ESPN’s pregame show for college football visited Eugene, Oregon on Saturday ahead of the big top 5 matchup between Ohio State and Oregon. The show was up to its usual antics, as the mascots for the Buckeyes and Ducks made sentimental signs for an absent Lee Corso, Kirk Herbstreit made his picks from his flight to Texas versus Oklahoma, and Nick Saban ranted about Alabama’s stunning loss last week to Vanderbilt.

But the star of the show wasn’t ESPN’s talent – it was the Oregon Duck.

And the mascot caught everyone’s attention at one point in the show when they held up a sign saying: “Sydney Sweeney Call Me Back” while the panel picked the winner between Colorado and Kansas State.

It even caught the attention of the actress, who had a classic excuse ready to go that she deployed on her Instagram account:

So, there you have it, Oregon Duck. You’ll need to get Sweeney’s new digits.

Sydney Sweeney shoots down Oregon Duck mascot after flirty ‘College GameDay’ message

Better luck next time, Duck.

The Oregon Duck mascot saw his opportunity on ESPN’s ‘College GameDay’ Saturday morning, and he took it.

While the ESPN crew was busy making their picks for the upcoming slate of games on Saturday morning, The Duck was standing in the background holding a sign with a message for his crush, beloved actress Sydney Sweeney.

“Sydney Sweeney Call Me Back,” the sign read.

It was a desperate attempt, but one that many men would make if given 15 seconds of fame.

Fortunately for the Duck, his crush responded to him on social media.

Unfortunately for the Duck, it seems to be a rejection.

“Sorry, changed my number haha,” Sweeney wrote as her caption of the photo on social media.

The HBO star of Euphoria, White Lotus, and many, many other things was at least nice enough to respond, but we can all wish that she at least gave The Duck a chance to court her a little bit more.

At the very least, she could have waited until after Saturday’s game against No. 2 Ohio State was over to make her decision. If the Ducks end up winning, she may regret saying “no” so quickly.

SNL’s Air Bud parody with Sydney Sweeney is both funny and adorable

SNL had a funny parody of Air Bud with Sydney Sweeney.

Ah, Air Bud. It’s the sports movie series that follows a dog that’s really, REALLY good at sports, a plot that has been much joked about over the years by many a late night host.

Although it’s 2024 and it’s been a while since you might have thought about the golden retriever (receiver), Saturday Night Live gave us a sketch in which Sweeney plays a cheerleader who discovers she’s not dating the new popular player … so she tries to flirt with him despite the fact that he’s a dog.

It’s funny but also: the dog is very cute. Check it out:

Anyone But You’s box office success should be message to Hollywood to make more rom-coms

MAKE MORE ROM-COMS!

If you haven’t been paying attention, you might not have noticed what Anyone But You has been doing at the box office over the last couple months. The Sony Pictures romantic comedy starring Glen Powell (Top Gun: Maverick) and Sydney Sweeney (Madame Web) in an R-rated adaptation of Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing has been quietly raking in the big bucks.

Since its release in December 2023, Anyone But You has made $190 million, well eclipsing its reported budget of $25 million. It’s also now the highest-grossing live-action adaptation of a Shakespeare work (although that doesn’t adjust for inflation for Baz Luhrmann’s 1996 movie, Romeo + Juliet).

Hopefully, this means Hollywood will get the message that audiences are clamoring for more fun rom-coms with charming leads.

A Sydney Sweeney moment from Hot Ones immediately became a meme

We have a new Hot Ones meme!

Sydney Sweeney is fast becoming a star between Euphoria and Anyone But You (in which she actually got bit by a spider, EEP!), which means it’s time for her to join so many other big names on Hot Ones, eating wings with ridiculously potent sauces.

But we’re not here to talk about one of those moments in which she tears up or has metaphorical smoke coming out of her ears like we’ve seen with other celebs on the interview show. No, it’s a smiling photo of her that’s become the meme in question.

Check out the memes that have popped up:

Too good!

Sydney Sweeney was bitten by a gigantic spider while filming Anyone But You and everyone thought she was acting

We would all scream dramatically, too.

Don’t ever say that acting isn’t dangerous. Sydney Sweeney learned the hard way when filming on location in Australia for the romcom Anyone But You, which releases in theaters on December 22.

In one scene, Bea (Sweeney) and Ben (Glen Powell) are hiking and run across a huntsman spider. They used a real one for filming, and during the shot it actually bit Sweeney as it rested on her arm. While the Huntsman is very large and very scary looking, it thankfully isn’t deadly.

Still, it’s a spider biting you, and Sweeney has a very natural reaction: unbridled screaming. Since the spider was supposed to have bitten her character, Powell and the film crew thought she was just taking the scene a little too far dramatically.

Sweeney shared the anecdote when visiting The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and even brought along the “blooper” reel (if you can call it that).

Powell, who sat across from Fallon shortly after Sweeney’s visit, elaborated on the moment and told his own tales of spiders, sharks, Fitbits and emergency helicopter landings.

The moral of the story: don’t trust spiders, even if they have wranglers and names.
