Stock Up, Stock Down: A tale of 2 halves as LSU falls at Texas A&M

What looked like it could be a statement win for the Tigers turned into a disaster in the second half.

LSU took a trip to College Station, Texas, to take on the Texas A&M Aggies and their new head coach, Mike Elko. In the first half, LSU was on fire. They took a 17-7 lead into the break.

Unfortunately, that lead would not last. In the second half, LSU was outscored 31-6 as Nussmeier threw three interceptions and a new quarterback for A&M was unstoppable. Elko subbed in Marcel Reed in the second half for the Aggies and they scored on every drive he had. It was a rough loss for LSU as it suffered its first conference loss.

Let’s look at who saw their stock rise and who saw their stock fall in the Tigers’ loss to Texas A&M in Week 9.

[autotag]Garrett Nussmeier[/autotag] picked a bad night to have his worst game of the season. Nussmeier looked great in the first half but in the second half, he got bullied by the Aggies defense. He finished the night with three interceptions, the most interceptions he has thrown in a single game in his career.

[autotag]Damien Ramos[/autotag] had a rough night in College Station. He made his first field goal but he missed his last two field goal attempts as he doinked the first one and just missed the second one.

Stock Down: Abhorrent second half

After taking a 17-7 lead before halftime, LSU was outscored 31-6 in the second half. Nussmeier threw three interceptions and the defense had no answer for Marcel Reed. Every drive Reed started ended in points.

Stock Down: Running game

I have been harping on the LSU run game for two years in a row and I will continue to do it. Texas A&M outgained LSU on the ground 242-24. LSU finished the game with only 24 rushing yards. How do you plan on opening up the passing game if the other team does not have to respect your run game?

Stock Up, Stock Down: LSU beats Ole Miss in overtime classic

Let’s look at who saw their stock rise and who saw their stock fall in the win over the Rebels.

LSU welcomed Ole Miss into Baton Rouge for one of the biggest games of the season.  The No. 9 Ole Miss Rebels were looking to remain in the top 10 and deep in the hunt for a college football playoff spot. To do that, they would have to beat No. 13 LSU under the lights of Tiger Stadium.

The Rebels led this game from the start of the second quarter until Aaron Anderson caught a touchdown pass to tie it with 27 seconds left in the fourth quarter. That led to this game going to overtime. In overtime, the Rebels got the ball first and were backed up to 4th and 25. Ole Miss hit a 57-yard field goal to give them a 26-23 lead.

On the Tigers’ first play in overtime, [autotag]Garrett Nussmeier[/autotag] found [autotag]Kyren Lacy[/autotag] on a 25-yard touchdown pass to win the game 29-26.

Let’s look at who saw their stock rise and who saw their stock fall in this game.

Once again, LSU was unable to run the ball in a big game. The Tigers finished the night with 84 yards on 24 carries. That is an average of only 3.5 yards a carry. That will not get the job done in the biggest games. With the offensive line the Tigers have, they should be able to get over 100 yards on the ground.

[autotag]Whit Weeks[/autotag] had the best game of his career against Ole Miss. He finished the night with a team-high 18 tackles. 10 of those tackles were solo. He was almost ejected from the game for targeting but after a review, the call was overturned.

The only downside I can see from this game is Nussmeier throwing two interceptions. Those two interceptions led to LSU losing the turnover battle against South Alabama. Again, it did not matter in the end, but it is something to improve on.

Stock Up: Sacks

LSU spent a lot of time in the backfield against Ole Miss. The Tigers ended the night with six total sacks compared to Ole Miss having zero. [autotag]Bradyn Swinson[/autotag] led the way with two sacks of his own.

Stock up, stock down from Colts’ 2023 season

The Colts’ stock report from the 2023 season.

When we take a look back at the 2023 season for the Indianapolis Colts, it was a good year for the franchise with several players having their best seasons of their career while having some setting new career-highs.

Finding players who raised their stock was easy but narrowing it down to a few was debated heavily. I went with the ones I believe saw a significant increase. As far as for players who saw their stock drop, that was a little more difficult.

There was a clear one who’s performance dropped off from 2022 but for the last two spots, I went with players that could’ve made more of an impact with their time spent on the field.

Let’s take a look at six Colts’ players who either saw a rise or fall in their stock from the past season:

Stock up, stock down following the Bills’ divisional loss to the Chiefs

Here is Bills Wire’s stock report following Sunday’s 27-24 AFC Divisional playoff loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Buffalo Bills welcomed the Kansas City Chiefs to Highmark Stadium on Sunday for their AFC Divisional round matchup and loss 27-24. Coming into Sunday, much was made about the contest given the history between these two teams, especially in the postseason.

While Bills fans finally had seats to sit in thanks to the snow being successfully shoveled this time around, they were treated to a game that ultimately had them leaving in tears and not of the good kind. As has been the case in almost every matchup between these teams, it a was nip-and-tuck game with plenty of questionable plays/calls to go around for both sides.

Despite both teams playing well, the sad part about these games is that only one team can win and unfortunately for Buffalo fans, the Chiefs emerge victorious. Here is the Bills’ stock report following the loss that now begins their offseason that could present plenty of changes:

Stock up, stock down following the Bills’ AFC Wild-Card win over the Steelers

Here is Bills Wire’s stock report following Monday AFC Wild Card win over the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Buffalo Bills made it back to the AFC playoffs in one of the more unlikely fashions as they finished the season with five-straight victories to clinch the AFC East title.

The season didn’t stop there as they still had to keep winning as their main goal is getting to the Super Bowl. That started with Monday’s AFC Wild Card game against the Pittsburgh Steelers via a 31-17 win.

To make this game more interesting than it was already as a win-or-go-home scenario, this contest was originally supposed to take place on Sunday. However, due to the dangerous conditions in Buffalo over the weekend, the NFL postponed the game until Monday.

The change in schedule didn’t seem to affect the Bills in a negative way as they took it to the Steelers from the beginning with a 14-0 lead in the first quarter.

Here is the stock report following the playoff win over Pittsburgh:

Stock up, stock down following the Bills’ win over the Dolphins

Here is the stock report following Sunday’s 21-14 win over the Miami Dolphins:

The Buffalo Bills (11-6) came into Sunday’s game against the Miami Dolphins (11-6) needing one more win for them to win the AFC East and be the No. 2 seed in the AFC playoffs.

Thanks to some big contributions from players integral to the team, the Bills achieved their goal of running the table all the way to a home playoff game.

In this one, Buffalo star quarterback Josh Allen wasn’t perfect as he turned the football over three times, but he also delivered the kind of dual-threat performance that he is capable of doing in any outing. Allen took advantage of the Dolphins’ spotty coverage of wide receiver Khalil Shakir for arguably the biggest game of his career.

Along the way, the Bills saw playmakers like Shakir, Trent Sherfield, and Deonte Harty come up with huge plays along with some clutch plays by the defense. With that being said,

Stock up, stock down as Colts enter Week 18

Stock report for the Colts’ going into Week 18.

The Indianapolis Colts (9-7) came away with a 23-20 win over the Las Vegas Raiders (7-9) in Week 17, giving themselves a chance to make the playoffs if they’re victorious during the regular-season finale.

Though the Colts held the lead from the opening drive of the game, there were a few moments in which the Raiders appeared to be mounting a comeback. However, Indy was able to hold onto the lead despite not scoring a touchdown in the second half.

Now, it’s time to take a look at whose stock was impacted from the team’s largest loss of the season.

When taking stock of a player’s performance, it’s best to be fluid. A player’s stock will fall and rise throughout the season so none of this is set in stone. However, it is important to take note of the narratives and storylines taking place as the campaign progresses.

A player’s stock can be impacted by factors such as their performance or the type of snaps they receive during the games.

Here’s a look at the stock report for the Colts following the Week 17 win:

Stock up, stock down following the Bills’ win over the Patriots

Here is Bills Wire’s stock report following Sunday’s 27-21 win over the New England Patriots.

The Buffalo Bills (10-6) came into Sunday’s game against the New England Patriots needing to win as many games as possible if they want to make sure that they make the playoffs. The Bills earned the result that they wanted as they defeated the Patriots 27-21 to keep their playoff momentum going strong.

Buffalo started this game about as badly as they could have asked for as they allowed New England wide receiver Jalen Reagor to open the contest with a 98-yard kickoff return. Despite the unfortunate start, the Bills were able to get their act together by scoring 13 points in the first quarter.

From there, Buffalo was able to keep New England at bay until the fourth quarter when the Patriots made a furious charge in their attempt to steal the game from the Bills. However, Buffalo’s defense, headlined by cornerback Rasul Douglas, made enough plays to seal the win for Buffalo.

Here is Bills Wire’s stock report following the win:

Stock Up, Stock Down: LSU finishes with another 10 win season

With a 10-win season on the line for LSU, the defense stepped up and stopped Wisconsin to secure the victory.

With a 10-win season on the line for LSU, the defense stepped up and stopped Wisconsin to secure the victory. On the offensive drive before that, [autotag]Garrett Nussmeier[/autotag] led the Tigers on an eight-play, 98-yard touchdown drive to give the Tigers a 35-31 lead with three minutes to play.

[autotag]Brian Kelly[/autotag] has won 10 games in back-to-back seasons at LSU and has had a player win the Heisman Trophy. [autotag]Malik Nabers[/autotag] broke the LSU career receiving yard record as he eclipsed 3,000 yards receiving against the Badgers.

[autotag]Jayden Daniels[/autotag], Nabers, and [autotag]Brian Thomas Jr.[/autotag] are all projected to be first-round picks in the 2024 NFL draft and the future on the Bayou is bright with Nussmeier at the helm.

Here’s how things are trending as the 2023 season winds to a close.

Stock up, stock down following the Bills’ win over the Chargers

Here is Bills Wire’s stock report following Saturday’s 24-22 win over the Los Angeles Chargers.

The Buffalo Bills (9-6) came into Saturday’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers (5-10) needing to continue winning if they wanted to increase their odds of making the playoffs this season.

After beating the Dallas Cowboys last week, the Bills significantly increased their playoff odds to the point that it seems more likely than not for them to make it.

Week 16 was a great opportunity for a Bills win given how much the Chargers have fell off this season thanks to the firing of head coach Brandon Staley and the injury of star quarterback Justin Herbert.

However, this game, despite resulting in a Buffalo win, was still too close for comfort. Here is Bills Wire’s stock report following the win:
