Seahawks signing former Ravens running back Ricky Person Jr.

According to a report by Aaron Wilson, the Seattle Seahawks are signing free agent running back Ricky Person Jr.

According to a report by Aaron Wilson, the Seattle Seahawks are signing free agent running back Ricky Person Jr., who apparently had offers from multiple NFL teams after having spent this past season playing for the UFL’s Birmingham Stallions.

Person (6-foot-1, 222 pounds) played his college ball at NC State, where he posted just under 2,000 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns from 2018-2021.  He has also put in time with the Baltimore Ravens but has not appeared in a regular season game as of yet.

To start out, Person is likely at the bottom of the depth chart at running back, beneath Ken Walker, Zach Charbonnet, Kenny McIntosh, George Holani, TaMerick Williams and Kobe Lewis. He will need a very strong showing in the preseason to have a chance at the initial 53-man roster.

Seahawks announce joint practices with Titans ahead of preseason game

Seattle has played Tennessee twice in the last three seasons.

The Seahawks will be practicing with the Titans for a couple of days in August ahead of their Preseason Week 2 matchup on Saturday, August 17.

The team just announced the news on Twitter.

Seattle has played Tennessee twice in the last three seasons. In early 2021, they lost a heartbreaker at home in overtime 33-30 thanks to getting steamrolled by Derrick Henry, who went off for over 200 scrimmage yards and three touchdowns. Henry has since signed with the Ravens.

This past Christmas Eve the Seahawks avenged that loss, taking down the Titans on the road by a score of 20-17. Geno Smith threw for 227 yards and two touchdowns. With Will Levis injured, Tennessee started Ryan Tannehill, who managed just 152 passing yards and was sacked six times.

The Titans have one of the worst rosters in the league going into 2024, but they should be able to challenge the Seahawks in at least a couple of areas. Offensively they have a strong wide receiver corps, led by DeAndre Hopkins, Calvin Ridley and Tyler Boyd. Defensively their interior line has a couple of studs in Jeffery Simmons and rookie T’Vondre Sweat. They also have a quality cornerback room, which includes their top free agent pickup L’Jarius Sneed.

Seahawks make P.J. Walker signing official, waive rookie DT to make room

To make room for Walker on the 90-man roster, the team has waived rookie defensive tackle Buddha Jones.

The Seahawks have made official Friday’s reported signing of former Browns quarterback P.J. Walker. An undrafted QB out of Temple, Walker has been a practice squad option for the Colts and a backup for the Panthers and Browns. During his brief time in the XFL, Walker went 5-0 and looked like an MVP. However, in nine career starts in the NFL he’s gone 5-4 with six touchdowns, 16 interceptions and a passer rating of 52.2.

Walker takes over the No. 3 spot on the depth chart at quarterback beneath Geno Smith and Sam Howell. Odds are it will be difficult for him to make the initial 53-man roster unless either Smith or Howell get injured.

To make room for Walker on the 90-man roster, the team has waived rookie defensive tackle Buddha Jones.

Robbie ‘Chosen’ Anderson will tryout for Seahawks at minicamp

The Seahawks are considering adding another name to their 11-deep wide receiver corps to make it an even 12.

The Seahawks are considering adding another name to their 11-deep wide receiver corps to make it an even 12.

According to a report by Tom Pelissero at NFL Network, former Jets, Panthers and Dolphins wide receiver Robbie “Chosen” Anderson will try out for Seattle this week at mandatory minicamp.

Anderson (6-foot-3, 185 pounds) played his college ball at Temple along with quarterback P.J. Walker, who the team is reportedly signing but has not made official as of yet. After going undrafted, Anderson got his first gig in the NFL with the Jets in 2016. He played there the next four years, totaling over 3,000 yards and 20 touchdowns.

In 2020 he signed a lucrative deal with Carolina, where he stayed for three seasons, putting up another 1,821 yards and nine more touchdowns. Since then Chosen hasn’t seen much playing time, putting in about half a season each with the Cardinals and the Dolphins, totaling a little over 200 yards and one score.

It’s tough to say where Anderson might fit in on Seattle’s depth chart right now, but his experience probably gives him a leg up over undrafted rookies like Dee Williams and Hayden Hatten.

Seahawks 2024 schedule rumors: Broncos visiting Week 1, Lions on MNF?

As for the Seahawks, there hasn’t been much in the way of leaks or rumors.

In about 12 hours the NFL will officially release the full schedule for the 2024 regular season. In the meantime, the league is leaking matchups all over the place, including the season opener between the Ravens and Chiefs, the Eagles vs. Packers game the next night in Brazil and the Jets visiting the 49ers in the first Monday Night Football matchup of the year.

As for the Seahawks, there hasn’t been much in the way of leaks or rumors. Here’s a quick review of everything we have seen on social media. First, local radio personality Dave Mahler says he’s “hearing” the team will host the Broncos Week 1 on Sunday, Sept. 8.

The Broncos of course visited the Seahawks to start the season two years ago, in another MNF game billed as Russell Wilson’s revenge game. Seattle won in an instant classic, 17-16 and the modern, upgraded version of Geno Smith was born.

Since then these two teams have gone in different directions. While Seattle finished the last two years 9-8, the Broncos went 5-12 in 2022 and then 8-9 last season. Despite a marked improvement they decided to start over at quarterback, ditching Wilson and eating around 80 bajillion dollars in dead money. Heading into 2024 the most likely candidate to start is rookie Bo Nix out of Oregon, who they picked at No. 12 overall. Veteran Zach Wilson may also be in the mix to start early on.

The only other rumor we have seen related to the Seahawks is coming out of Detroit sports radio – where they’re saying the Lions will host Seattle in Week 4 on Monday Night Football.

This makes sense on the surface at least, as these two teams have played thrilling shootouts each of the last two seasons in Detroit, with Seattle barely coming out on top in both cases, 48-45 and 37-31.

However, this is your yearly reminder to take everything you read on Twitter or hear on the radio with a healthy dose of salt.

Seahawks add 2 more undrafted free agents to their defensive front-7

Those spots have now been filled thanks to a couple of signings of undrafted free agents.

The Seattle Seahawks had two spots open on their 90-man offseason roster coming out of rookie minicamp last weekend. Those spots have now been filled thanks to a couple of signings of undrafted free agents.

According to a report by Aaron Wilson, the Seahawks have signed former Missisippi State defensive tackle Nathan Pickering.

Pickering (6-foot-4, 310 pounds) played 48 games over the last five years for the Bulldogs. He totaled 123 tackles, including 23.5 for a loss. He also added 13 sacks.

Seattle is also signing former Washington State linebacker Devin Richardson, per Wilson.

Richardson (6-foot-3, 233 pounds) bounced around a bit, putting in three years at New Mexico State, two at Texas and one with the Cougars. All together he put up 155 tackles (seven for a loss), three sacks and four forced fumbles.

Seahawks save almost $2 million on new contract for CB Mike Jackson

According to a report by Brady Henderson at ESPN, cornerback Mike Jackson has agreed to a new contract with the Seahawks.

According to a report by Brady Henderson at ESPN, cornerback Mike Jackson has agreed to a new contract with the Seahawks.

Jackson was going to be playing under the restricted free agent tender this season, valued at $3.116 million. However, under the new deal he will only be getting about $1.22 million, saving the team roughly $1.89 million in cap space for 2024.

Jackson had been the team’s main backup at the right boundary cornerback position behind Riq Woolen. However, this move likely means he will be demoted to third behind rookie corner Nehemiah Pritchett, who took most of his snaps at rookie minicamp on the right side.

As of this morning the Seahawks only had about $1.6 million in cap space, so this should put them around $3.5 million total.

Seattle does have one extra spot on the roster thanks to offensive tackle Max Pircher’s international player exception. Bringing back either Jamal Adams or Rashaad Penny for depth are among the options for the Seahawks to fill that spot.

Seahawks announce they have waived outside linebacker Levi Bell

To help make room for that fresh crop of college free agents, the team just announced that they have waived outside linebacker Levi Bell.

The Seahawks will be officially signing a bunch of undrafted free agents later this week. To help make room for that fresh crop of college free agents, the team just announced that they have waived outside linebacker Levi Bell.

While he was a darling of the 2023 preseason campaign, Bell never actually got on the field for the Seahawks during the regular season as a rookie. He spent most of the year on the practice squad, and part of it on injured reserve with an undisclosed issue. Seattle now has 72 players on the 90-man roster, which should be about full when the UDFAs are announced.

Consider Bell a victim of the change at head coach the team has gone through this offseason. He performed well in August and clearly has potential but obviously he is not in Mike Macdonald’s plans. By cutting him now they give him a chance to catch on somewhere else where he could make more of an impact. Our best guess is that a smart team will pick him up off waivers.

Among the undrafted free agents Seattle has reportedly signed, there’s a couple of edge defenders: Sundiata Anderson from Grambling State and Nelson Ceasar from Houston. Seattle did not pick anyone on the edge during the draft itself.

With the No. 207 overall pick in the sixth round of the 2024 NFL draft, the Seattle Seahawks have taken Findlay offensive lineman Michael Jerrell.

Like fourth-round pick Tyrice Knight, Jerrell (6-foot-5, 309 pounds) was one of the team’s pre-draft visits. He was named G-MAC Offensive Lineman of the Year for the 2023 season. Jerrell played some tight end in high school before switching to offensive line and started 40 games at right tackle for Findlay.

Seattle now has no more picks to make in the draft, so unless they trade back into the seventh round this class is over.
