Seahawks injury updates: LB Jordyn Brooks, RB Zach Charbonnet

Yesterday head coach Pete Carroll spoke with the media and offered updates on linebacker Jordyn Brooks as well as rookie running back Zach Charbonnet.

At least the Seahawks came out of Thursday night’s heartbreaking loss to the Cowboys without any major injuries to report. There are a couple of minor ones that will warrant monitoring, though. Yesterday head coach Pete Carroll spoke with the media and offered updates on linebacker Jordyn Brooks as well as rookie running back Zach Charbonnet.

Brooks left the game in the first half after a strong start and was listed as probable to return with an ankle injury. However, he was later downgraded to doubtful and never made it back on the field. Carroll says Brooks’ injury is a sprained ankle but didn’t have information on the severity of it. As for Charbonnet, Carroll is calling the knee injury that forced him out against Dallas a bruise.

Devin Bush stepped in for Brooks and DeeJay Dallas for Charbonnet. We may not hear more until Wednesday when the first injury report of Week 14 will come out.

DK Metcalf’s touchdown was fastest run for an NFL ball carrier this year

Apparently, that was the fastest run that any ball carrier in the NFL has posted this season, topping out at 22.23 miles per hour.

Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf is a rare kind of athlete. Perhaps is most unique attribute is his top-level game speed despite coming in a package that stands 6-foot-4 and 235 pounds. The Cowboys defense just got to see that rare speed up close and personal on his 73-yard catch and run touchdown in the first quarter.

Apparently, that was the fastest run that any ball carrier in the NFL has posted this season, topping out at 22.23 miles per hour.

Unfortunately, DK is only one man and the Seahawks are getting absolutely run over on the other side of the ball by Dak Prescott. The Cowboys have increased their lead to 17-7 with 11 minutes to go in the second quarter.

The Seattle Seahawks have announced several roster moves ahead of tonight’s critical game against the Dallas Cowboys. The list includes activating right tackle Abe Lucas from injured reserve, which should give them a shot in the arm where they need it most.

Here’s a quick review of their game-day transactions.

NFL flexes Seahawks, Eagles Week 15 game to Monday Night Football

The NFL has decided to flex the Week 15 matchup between the Seattle Seahawks and the Philadelphia Eagles to Monday Night Football.

The NFL has decided to flex the Week 15 matchup between the Seattle Seahawks (6-5) and the Philadelphia Eagles (10-1) to Monday Night Football.

It will replace what will likely be a dismal matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs (8-3) and the New England Patriots (2-9), who were originally scheduled for three consecutive primetime games. That game will be moved to the 1:00 p.m. Eastern time slot on Sunday.

Pete Caroll’s teams have done extraordinarily well against the Eagles over the years, going 7-0 against them since he became Seattle’s head coach. However, this current version of Philadelphia is far superior to any they have faced before. Our best guess is that the Eagles will be favored by at least a touchdown despite playing on the road.

On the bright side, the Seahawks have the best Monday night record in the NFL, now 30-12 after they pounded the New York Giants in Week 4.

10 things to know about the Seahawks and the Cowboys

Game tonight vs. Cowboys has massive playoff implications for Seahawks

That makes this week’s matchup an absolutely must-win scenario for the Seahawks.

When the Seahawks beat the Browns a few weeks back, it seemed like their chances of making the playoffs were all but assured. However, things have gone south ever since and it’s taken a toll on their postseason odds. Heading into tonight’s road game against the Cowboys, Seattle has lost three of the last four games. That makes this week’s matchup an absolutely must-win scenario for the Seahawks.

According to the playoff math by Pro Football Focus, a win tonight for Seattle would increase their chances of making the postseason to 74%. However, a loss would drop them all the way down to 37%.

That’s the second-largest playoff leverage for any NFL team this week, trailing only Russell Wilson and the Broncos – who will have a 64% chance to make it if they beat C.J. Stroud and the Texans and only a 21% chance with a loss.

Other outlets have different numbers, though. The New York Times playoff machine is not nearly as kind. At the moment they’re only projecting a 36% chance for Seattle or make the postseason. Beating the Cowboys would increase it to 58%, while losing would put them at 30%.

Either way, it’s a critically important game. A victory would give them a shot to come out of this heinous four-week stretch with a 7-7 record – enough for at least a puncher’s chance at a Wild Card spot. For now, they’re holding onto the No. 6 seed in the NFC.

Watch: Kenneth Walker likely out for Seahawks vs. Cowboys

Watch Ian Rapoport at NFL Network with the latest on Walker’s status.

The Seahawks won’t be at full strength when they face the Cowboys tomorrow night.

While they are finally getting starting right tackle Abe Lucas back, the team will most likely have to go without running back Kenneth Walker III for the second straight week. Watch Ian Rapoport at NFL Network with the latest on Walker’s status.

If Walker is ruled out, rookie Zach Charbonnet will once again lead the rushing attack. He managed just 47 yards on 14 carries against the 49ers last week and had virtually the same line in the previous game against the Rams. Backing him up will be DeeJay Dallas – and possibly rookie Kenny McIntosh, who is healthy but did not get on the field last week on offense.
