Steelers waive linebacker to make room for Joe Schobert

The Pittsburgh Steelers announced corresponding roster move for ex-Cleveland Browns linebacker on Saturday.

To make room for the recent acquisition, inside linebacker Joe Schobert, the Pittsburgh Steelers announced they’ve waived Tegray Scales.

If Scales clears waivers, don’t be surprised if you hear his name connected to the Steelers at some point again. Scales has been on and off Pittsburgh’s roster several times since 2019.

As for Schobert, Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said he’s eager to see what he can bring to Pittsburgh.

“Joe been highly productive in every circumstance that he’s been in,” Tomlin told Steelers media.

“He’s a sideline-to-sideline tackler; he’s good in coverage, has coverage production in terms of interceptions, sack production. He plays a well-rounded game, and so we’re excited about infusing him into what we do.”

The former Cleveland Browns linebacker is expected to join the Pittsburgh Steelers at training camp on Sunday.
