Steelers rumored to have brutal 3-game stretch in December

Pittsburgh’s December slate of games is shaping up to be a real gauntlet.

According to reports and reported schedule leaks and rumors, the Pittsburgh Steelers have a three-game stretch in December that is lining up like a gauntlet of brutal showdowns.

Based on the reports coming out ahead of Wednesday night’s official regular-season schedule release, here is how December lines up for the Steelers.

Week 15 (December 15) – @ Philadelphia Eagles

Week 16 (December 21) – @ Baltimore Ravens

Week 17 (December 25) – vs Kansas City Chiefs

I’m not sure I’ve seen a tougher 10 days of football in my life. Back-to-back road games against top teams in their respective conferences only to come up and have to play the Super Bowl champions on a short week on Christmas Day.  Hopefully the Steelers can get off to a faster start than in past seasons and perhaps these three games won’t carry quite as much weight as December games have for Pittsburgh in the past.

Steelers schedule rumors: Pittsburgh to host Jets on Sunday Night Football

The Steelers schedule leaks continue to come out.

According to New York Jets writer/podcaster Matt O’Leary, the Jets full schedule has been leaked. He posted the schedule on X, and it shows the Steelers will host the Jets in Week Seven on Sunday Night Football.

Another rumor out there is the Steelers will open the season on the road against the Atlanta Falcons. There’s another rumor out there that Pittsburgh will host the Kansas City Chiefs on Christmas Day.

Steelers vs Chiefs on Christmas Day to be Netflix broadcast

If you want to watch Steelers vs Chiefs on Christmas Day, you better have Netflix.

We first heard on Tuesday that the Pittsburgh Steelers would be hosting the Kansas City Chiefs on Christmas Day. The NFL will officially release the full regular-season schedule on Wednesday night. Now, according to NFL reporter Jordan Schultz, the showdown between the Chiefs and Steelers will be broadcast only on Netflix.

The NFL continues to expand its revenue streams by utilizing streaming services to televise games. This is in addition to broadcasts on Amazon Prime as well as NFL Sunday Ticket.

Steelers rumored to host Chiefs on Christmas Day

The Steelers might be celebrating Christmas with the Chiefs this year.

At this point, you have to take all NFL schedule leaks with a grain of salt but this one caught our eye. Pittsburgh radion host Andrew Fillipponi posted on X that he has heard the Pittsburgh Steelers will host the Kansas City Chiefs on Christmas Day this season.

The Chiefs and Steelers know each other well. They have squared off 10 times since 2009 and the Steelers are up 6-5 in the rivalry during that time. The NFL plans to release the full regular-season schedule on Wednesday, May 15.

The Chiefs are the reigning Super Bowl champions and have become a legitimate NFL dynasty. The Steelers are hoping to return to legitimacy this season and win their first playoff game since 2016 thanks to a complete rebuild of the quarterback depth chart as well as the offensive line.

NFL announces release date for regular-season schedule

The NFL will announce the full regular-season schedule on May 15.

On Tuesday, the NFL released a memo to all 32 NFL teams announcing the 2024 regular-season schedule will be released on May 15. Most believed the schedule release would be this week but there’s been no word on why the league is putting it out a week later than normal.

Last season, the Pittsburgh Steelers went 10-7 in the regular season despite tremendous struggles with the passing game and a whole host of injuries on defense. The Steelers front office has gone to great lengths this offseason to upgrade the offensive side of the football in hopes of improving on last season’s record and pull off a deep run in the NFL playoffs.

Predicting the Steelers wins and losses in the final 9 games

The Steelers have a real shot to make the playoffs with a strong second half of the season.

The Pittsburgh Steelers currently sit at 5-3 and are squarely in the hunt for the playoffs. A shocking position for sure when you consider the Steelers offense has been outgained in every single game this season.

Pittsburgh has nine games remaining and is looking to keep pace with the rest of a very deep AFC North. Four of the Steelers remaining games are division games so Pittsburgh’s fate is squarely in their own hands. Here are our updated predictions with nine games left.

Predicting the Steelers wins and losses for the final 12 games

Here is our updated predictions for the Steelers wins and losses coming out of the bye week.

Now that the Pittsburgh Steelers have gotten their early bye week done, the team can turn its attention to the final 12 games and hopefully find that identity the team was missing in the first five games.

Now that we have a five-game sample size, we decided to update our season predictions of wins and losses for the final 12 games.

Steelers’ 2023 schedule setting up to be easier than last season

The Steelers’ 2022 schedule was much harder than what this season projects to be.

Last season, the Pittsburgh Steelers faced an absolute gauntlet of a schedule, especially in the first half. This, paired with adjusting to a new quarterback, made for a brutal start to the season. But in 2023, the road might get a little easier.

According to NFL analyst Warren Sharp, the Steelers played the second-toughest schedule in the league in 2022. And against the top teams, Pittsburgh didn’t fare well.

But based on a projected schedule for 2023, the Steelers have the 11th-easiest slate in the NFL. Now, we all know games aren’t played on paper and a lot can change by the time the season starts. But even with that schedule last year, the Steelers still almost made the playoffs. With the improvements Pittsburgh has made, they should play every game close again this season.

Sharp has the Steelers’ over/under for wins at 8.5 this season. The team won nine games in 2022. Do you take the over or the under for 2023 at 8.5 games? Let us know in the comments.
