St. Louis Cardinals at New York Mets odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s St. Louis Cardinals at New York Mets odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The St. Louis Cardinals (13-14) and New York Mets (13-13) wrap up a 3-game series Sunday at Citi Field. First pitch is scheduled for 1:40 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Cardinals vs. Mets odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Cardinals lead 2-0

The Cardinals picked up a 7-4 win Saturday as moderate -135 favorites with the Over (7.5) cashing. In Friday’s opener, St. Louis posted a 4-2 victory as a +110 underdog and the Under (7.5) hit.

St. Louis has won 3 in a row and 4 of the past 5. The Under holds a 4-2 edge in the past 6 contests overall, while the Under is 5-2 in the past 7 road outings for the Cardinals.

The Mets have dropped 5 of the past 6 games, while scoring 2 or fewer runs in 4 of those outings. The Under holds a slight 3-2 edge in the Mets’ past 5 outings. Despite the 2 losses in this series, New York is still 6-3 in the past 9 home games.

Cardinals at Mets projected starters

RHP Lance Lynn vs. LHP Jose Quintana

Lynn (1-0, 2.81 ERA) makes his 6th start. He has a 1.36 WHIP, 3.5 BB/9 and 9.1 K/9 in 25 2/3 innings.

  • Last start: No-decision, 5 IP, 3 ER, 7 H, 3 BB, 7 K in 5-3 home victory vs. Arizona Diamondbacks Monday
  • 2024 road splits: 1-0, 0.82 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, 2 BB, 6 K in 11 IP across 2 starts

Quintana (1-2, 4.21 ERA) makes his 6th start. He has a 1.60 WHIP, 4.9 BB/9 and 7.0 K/9 in 25 2/3 innings.

  • Last start: Loss, 5 IP, 5 ER, 7 H, 1 HR, 3 BB, 4 K in 5-2 setback at San Francisco Giants Monday
  • 2023 home splits: 0-1, 2.79 ERA (9 2/3 IP, 3 ER), 10 H, 1 HR, 5 BB, 8 K, .278 opponents’ batting average (OBA) in 2 starts

Cardinals at Mets picks and predictions

Prediction

Cardinals 4, Mets 3

Moneyline

The CARDINALS (-105) are a solid play as short underdogs in the series finale. St. Louis has been on a roll lately, sans for a 14-1 loss at home against Arizona Tuesday.

The Mets (-115) have dropped 5 of the past 6 games, while posting 2 or fewer runs in 4 of those outings.

Run line/Against the spread

The Mets +1.5 (-190) will cost nearly 2 times your potential return, and that’s way too much risk for not enough reward, if you require insurance, and you just cannot bring yourself to play New York straight up in the series finale.

AVOID and focus on the moneyline.

Over/Under

UNDER 8 (-110) is the lean, but go with a half-unit play at most.

The Under has cashed in 3 of the past 5 games for the Mets, with New York cobbling together 4 or fewer runs in 5 of the past 6 outings. While that sounds great for potential Unders, the pitching staff has coughed up 4 or more runs in 7 of the previous 8 contests.

The Cardinals have hit the Under in 4 of the past 6 games, and the total has gone low at a 9-4 clip in the past 13 outings.

St. Louis Cardinals at New York Mets odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s St. Louis Cardinals at New York Mets odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The St. Louis Cardinals (12-14) and New York Mets (13-12) meet Saturday for the 2nd game of a 3-game series. First pitch from Citi Field is set for 4:05 p.m. ET (FOX). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Cardinals vs. Mets odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: St. Louis leads 1-0

St. Louis picked up a 4-2 win over New York in Friday’s opener, covering as a +112 road favorite. The Cardinals jumped out to a 4-0 lead by the middle of the 3rd and were able to hold on as the Mets only scored 1 run apiece in the 5th and 6th innings. It was the Redbirds’ 2nd win in a row and their 3rd in the last 4 games — they had lost 4 in a row before this current 3-1 run.

The Mets have lost 4 of their last 5 — they won Wednesday’s series finale at San Francisco. RHP Jose Butto took the loss Friday as he yielded 4 runs on 4 hits and 3 walks with 4 strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings.

Cardinals at Mets projected starters

RHP Sonny Gray vs. RHP Adrian Houser

Gray (2-1, 1.04 ERA) makes his 4th start. He has a 0.87 WHIP, 0.5 BB/9 and 11.9 K/9 through 17 1/3 innings.

  • Last start: Loss, 6 1/3 IP, 2 ER, 5 H, 1 BB, 12 K in 2-0 home loss vs. Milwaukee Brewers Sunday
  • Career vs. Mets: 3-0, 2.60 ERA (17 1/3 IP, 5 ER), 13 H, 6 BB, 18 K in 3 starts

Houser (0-2, 7.45 ERA) makes his 5th start. He has a 1.76 WHIP, 6.5 BB/9 and 5.6 K/9 through 19 1/3 innings.

  • Last start: Loss, 4 IP, 8 ER, 7 H, 4 BB, 3 K in 10-0 setback at Los Angeles Dodgers Sunday
  • Career vs. St. Louis: 5-6, 3.07 ERA (70 1/3 IP, 24 ER), 64 H, 30 BB, 47 K across 13 starts and 3 relief appearances

Cardinals at Mets picks and predictions

Prediction

Cardinals 3, Mets 1

Moneyline

LEAN CARDINALS (-135).

St. Louis is 3-1 in its last 4 games overall and is 3-1 in its last 4 home games.  The Cardinals have also won back-to-back games vs. New York, being 3-0 in the last 3 meetings with the Mets in New York.

This is only a lean because the Mets are 6-4 in their last 10 games and because they hold the narrow 6-4 lead in their last 10 meetings with St. Louis.

Run line/Against the spread

PASS.

These are very similar teams with very similar ATS records this season so far. The Cardinals are 15-11 ATS, while the Mets are 13-12, so this would be a bet with a fair amount of risk either way. PASS on a run line wager as both the moneyline and total are safer bets.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 7.5 (-105).

The Under has hit in back-to-back games for the Cardinals and is 7-3 in their last 10 games overall. For New York, the Under is 3-1 in its last 4 games and is 2-1 in its last 3 home games. The Under has also hit in back-to-back St. Louis-New York matchups and is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings.

The St. Louis Cardinals (28-43) and New York Mets (33-37) close out their 3-game series Sunday in the Big Apple. First pitch at Citi Field is at 1:40 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Cardinals vs. Mets and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Tied 1-1

Paul Goldschmidt‘s 2-run HR helped the Cardinals snap their 6-game losing streak on Saturday with a 5-3 win against the Mets. Despite the victory, the Cardinals are still 6-14 over the last 20 games. St. Louis can end their series losing streak at 5 with a win on Sunday.

The Mets continue to disappoint New York fans, winning just 3 of their last 13 games. They have allowed over 5 runs per game over that stretch. New York has is 17-14 at home, but only 4-10 against NL Central teams.

Liberatore (1-2, 5.14 ERA) will make his 5th start. He has a 1.57 WHIP, 4.3 BB/9 and 6.9 K/9 in 21 innings.

Cardinals at Mets picks and predictions

Prediction

Cardinals 6, Mets 5

Moneyline

Cardinals (-105) is my lean, but I do not see a clear favorite in this game. The Mets have a record of 8-16 against lefties, but the smart thing to do is stay away from this bet completely. PASS.

Run line/Against the spread

AVOID.

My lean is to take the Cardinals -1.5 (+155), but I doubt they will win by multiple runs.

Play our free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under

OVER 9.5 (-105).

We’ve got 2 starting pitchers with ERA over 5 on the season and even worse home and away splits. New York is allowing more than 5 runs per game over their last 13 while the Cardinals are letting their opponents produce more than 6 runs per game over their last 7.

The St. Louis Cardinals (27-43) and New York Mets (33-36) play game 2 of their 3-game series Saturday in the Big Apple at Citi Field. First pitch is slated for 4:10 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Cardinals vs. Mets and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Mets lead 1-0

The Cardinals have lost 6 in a row and are just 5-15 over the last 20 games. St. Louis has allowed nearly 7 runs per game over this losing streak and has also lost 8 of its last 10 on the road.

Despite winning on Friday 6-1 over the Cardinals, the Mets continue to disappoint, winning just 3 of their last 10 games. New York is 17-13 at home this season, but only 4-9 against the NL Central.

Cardinals at Mets picks and predictions

Prediction

Mets 5, Cardinals 2

Moneyline

PASS.

While the Mets have disappointed this season, I think they win this game easily on Saturday afternoon. While I believe New York wins, the odds are not favorable for the bettor. I will look to the run line on this one.

Run line/Against the spread

BET METS -1.5 (+135).

St. Louis has struggled on the road with a record of 16-23 on the season. Its last two losses have been by 2 or more runs including Friday’s 6-1 defeat vs. the Mets. Adam Wainwright has allowed at least 3 earned runs in his last 4 starts.

I know the Mets will win this game and I’d rather take the plus odds on the run line than pay the juice on the moneyline.

Play our free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under

UNDER 8.5 (+100) is the lean. Kodai Senga has been lights out this season at Citi Field sporting an under 2 ERA. He has allowed more than 2 earned runs just once all season. The question will be how many runs Wainwright allows to this talented Mets lineup.

That’s why I’m not going to fully endorse taking this bet, but I am taking a side and it’s the Under.

St. Louis Cardinals at New York Mets odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s St. Louis Cardinals at New York Mets odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The St. Louis Cardinals (27-42) and New York Mets (32-36) open up a 3-game set Friday at Citi Field. First pitch is at 7:10 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Cardinals vs. Mets odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: First meeting; Mets won 5-2 last year

The Cardinals have lost 5 in a row and are just 6-14 over the last 20 games. Their season has completely come unhinged, but the NL Central is so bad that they’re still just 8 games out.

The Mets have similarly disappointed as they have gone 2-8 over the last 10 games. They are 10 1/2 games out in a tougher NL East. They are 16-13 at home but strangely 3-9 against the weak NL Central.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3012″ ]

Cardinals at Mets projected starters

RHP Miles Mikolas vs. RHP Tylor Megill

Mikolas (4-3, 4.02 ERA) makes his 15th start. He has a 1.35 WHIP, 1.9 BB/9 and 6.9 K/9 in 80 2/3 innings.

  • Last start: Loss, 6 IP, 5 ER, 7 H, 2 BB, 2 K Saturday against Cincinnati Reds
  • 3 career starts vs. Mets: 1-1, 1.71 ERA, 0.90 WHIP, 14 K in 21 IP

Megill (5-4, 5.14 ERA) makes his 14th start. He has a 1.70 WHIP, 5.0 BB/9 and 7.0 K/9 in 63 innings.

  • Last start: Loss, 3 2/3 IP, 7 ER, 8 H, 3 BB, 1 K vs. Pittsburgh Pirates Friday
  • 1 career start vs. St. Louis: 3 IP, 6 ER, 9 H, 2 BB, 3 K on Sept. 15, 2021

Cardinals at Mets picks and predictions

Prediction

Cardinals 5, Mets 4

Moneyline

The Cardinals have no problems scoring runs, but they have problems keeping them off the board. St. Louis has allowed at least 4 runs in 8 of the last 9. Mikolas has the ability to stifle offenses, and the Mets have struggled without 1B Pete Alonso.

I’m siding with the CARDINALS -115 because of Mikolas’ history against the Mets. Megill has also allowed 4-plus ER in 3 of 4 starts.

Run line/Against the spread

The Cards haven’t played well enough to back for a multiple-run win, and the Mets’ -165 is not enticing to keep within a run.

PASS.

Play our free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under

This is a pretty solid total here. The Cards are 4-5-1 O/U over the last 10, and the Mets are 5-4-1.

We’re projecting a push here. If you’re on board with Mikolas and the Cards, head to the Win/Total section and take the CARDINALS AND OVER 5.5 (+130). That option presents a little more risk, which we’re already taking with the Cards’ ML, but presents more reward.

St. Louis Cardinals at New York Mets odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s St. Louis Cardinals at New York Mets odds and lines, with MLB expert picks and predictions.

The St. Louis Cardinals (20-17) close out their 4-game series with the New York Mets (25-14) at Citi Field Thursday. First pitch is scheduled for 1:10 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Cardinals vs. Mets odds with MLB picks and predictions.

N.Y. took a 2-1 series lead with a Wednesday’s 11-4 win over St. Louis but Mets SP Max Scherzer exited the game in the 6th inning with discomfort in his left side.

These teams split Tuesday’s series-opening doubleheader with the Mets winning the first game 3-1 and the Cardinals winning the second 4-3.

Cardinals at Mets projected starters

RHP Dakota Hudson vs. RHP Chris Bassitt

Hudson is 3-2 with a 3.06 ERA, 1.33 WHIP, 4.3 BB/9 and 5.1 K/9 through 35 1/3 IP across 7 starts.

  • Last start: Win, 4-0, at home vs. the San Francisco Giants Saturday with 5-scoreless IP, 5 H, 2 BB and 2 K.

Bassitt is 4-2 with a 2.34 ERA, 1.02 WHIP, 2.6 BB/9 and 9.8 K/9 across 42 1/3 IP over 7 starts.

  • Last start: No-decision, 5-4, at home vs. the Seattle Mariners Saturday with 5 2/3 IP, 1 ER, 5 H, 3 BB and 8 K.
  • 2022 vs. the Cardinals: Win, 3-0, April 26 in St. Louis with 6-scoreless IP, 2 H, 3 BB and 6 K.

Cardinals at Mets picks and predictions

Prediction

Mets 5, Cardinals 3

Money line

BET the METS (-180) because they have a significant edge in the starting pitching matchup and N.Y.’s lineup hits righty pitching better than St. Louis’s.

Hudson grades in the 15th percentile or worse in hard-hit rate, K%, expected ERA, chase and whiff rates and his exit velocity has increased by 10 mph year over year (according to Statcast). He also has a 4.04 ERA on the road (2.34 home ERA) and 1.50 WHIP (1.17 home WHIP) for his career.

Bassitt has 3 pitches in his arsenal with a negative run value, grades in the 98th percentile in exit velocity and 80th percentile in hard-hit rate.

The Mets rank in the top-10, and ahead of the Cardinals, in key advanced hitting metrics vs. right-handed pitching such as wRC+, wOBA and BB/K rate, according to FanGraphs.

Since N.Y.’s ML is pricey, I’d only RISK 1-1.25 UNITS on the METS (-180).

Run line/Against the spread

PASS because the Mets’ RL would need to be north of +150, the Cardinals are 9-5 RL as road underdogs and the Mets are 9-10 RL as home favorites.

Over/Under

LEAN OVER 7.5 (+112) because these teams have a combined 8-6 O/U record when these starters take the mound and both lineups are productive against right-handed pitching. It’s only a LEAN to the OVER 7.5 (+112) because N.Y.’s ML is my favorite wager in this game.

St. Louis Cardinals at New York Mets odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s St. Louis Cardinals at New York Mets odds and lines, with MLB expert picks and predictions.

The St. Louis Cardinals (20-16) continue their 4-game series with the New York Mets (24-14) at Citi Field Wednesday. First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Cardinals vs. Mets odds with MLB picks and predictions.

These teams split Tuesday’s series-opening doubleheader with N.Y. taking the first game 3-1 then St. Louis winning the second affair 4-3.

The Cardinals have won 3 of their last 4 games but are just 4-6 overall in the last 10 games while the Mets have alternated between winning and losing over the past 8 games and are 5-5 overall in the last 10.

RHP Jordan Hicks vs. RHP Max Scherzer

Hicks is 1-3 with a 4.15 ERA, 1.15 WHIP, 5.0 BB/9 and 8.7 K/9 through 21 2/3 IP over 5 starts and 2 relief appearances.

  • Last start: Loss, 8-2, vs. the San Francisco Giants Friday with 5 IP, 3 ER, 3 H, 2 BB and 3 K.
  • 2022 vs. the Mets: Loss, 3-0, April 26 with 2 IP, 2 ER, 2 H, 2 BB and 1 K.

Scherzer is 4-1 with a 2.66 ERA, 0.91 WHIP, 2.3 BB/9 and 11.3 K/9 across 44 IP over 7 starts.

  • Last start: Win, 2-1, vs. the Seattle Mariners Friday with 7 IP, 1 ER, 3 H, 2 BB and 6 K.
  • 2022 vs. the Cardinals: No-decision in 5-2 loss April 25 with 7-scoreless IP, 2 H, 1 BB and 10 K.
  • vs. Cardinals on the current roster: 1.63 FIP with a .179/.216/.264 expected batting average, wOBA and slugging percentage slash line with 34.0 K% and 84.0 mph exit velocity (EV) in 194 plate appearances (PA).

Cardinals at Mets picks and predictions

Prediction

Mets 4, Cardinals 1

Money line

BET the METS (-210) because they have an edge in the pitching matchup and perform better against righty starters.

Scherzer hasn’t allowed an ER over 21 IP with a 32/2 K/BB rate in 3 starts vs. the Cardinals since the beginning of last season. N.Y.’s bullpen has much stronger pitching peripherals than St. Louis’s, including a better xFIP and K/BB, outside-the-zone swing and swinging-strike rates, per FanGraphs.

The Mets are 20-7 overall vs. righty starters and rank 6th in wRC+ (117) and 7th in wOBA (.327) against right-handed pitching. Whereas the Cardinals are 16-13 against right-handed starters and rank 14th in wRC+ (104) and 16th in wOBA (.304) vs. righty pitching.

However, since this is a pricey ML, I’d only RISK 1 unit on the METS (-210) instead of betting to win 1 unit.

Run line/Against the spread

LEAN to the METS -1.5 (+110) only because the Cardinals have been a lot more productive at the plate over the past two weeks. However, N.Y. is just 8-10 RL as a home favorite while St. Louis is 9-4 RL as a road underdog.

But, the Cardinals cannot hit Scherzer and all 4 of the Mets victories with Scherzer on the mount have been by at least 2 runs.

Over/Under

LEAN to the UNDER 6.5 (+105) since the total has been lowered from a 7-run opener due to sharp line movement and St. Louis’s lineup figures to struggle against Scherzer.

But, the Over has cashed in 5 of the last 7 Cardinals-Mets meetings in N.Y. and the Mets are 4-3 O/U in Scherzer’s 7 starts this season.

St. Louis Cardinals at New York Mets odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Monday’s St. Louis Cardinals at New York Mets odds and lines, with MLB expert picks and predictions.

The St. Louis Cardinals (19-15) head to Citi Field Monday to start a 4-game series with the New York Mets (23-13) with the first pitch at 7:10 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Cardinals vs. Mets odds with MLB picks and predictions.

St. Louis is just 5-5 overall in the last 10 games, but won the rubber match of a 3-game set with the San Francisco Giants 15-6 on ESPN’s Sunday Night Baseball.

New York is also 5-5 in the last 10 games, but lost the rubber match of a 3-game interleague series against the Seattle Mariners 8-7 Sunday.

The Mets won 2 of a 3-game set with the Cardinals April 25-27 with New York outscoring St. Louis 13-12 in the series.

Cardinals at Mets projected starters

RHP Miles Mikolas vs. RHP Trevor Williams

Mikolas is 3-1 with a 1.49 ERA, 0.95 WHIP, 1.7 BB/9 and 6.6 K/9 in 42 1/3 IP in 7 starts.

  • Won his last 10-1 vs. the Baltimore Orioles Wednesday with 7 IP, 1 ER, 4 H, 1 BB and 3 K.
  • 2022 vs. the Mets: No decision in St. Louis’s 5-2 loss April 25 with 7 scoreless IP, 4 H, 1 BB and 5 K.
  • vs. Mets on the current roster: 2.33 FIP with a .184/.238/.286 expected batting average (xBA), wOBA (xwOBA), slugging percentage (xSLG) slash line, 19.6 K% and 84.1 mph exit velocity (EV) in 92 plate appearances (PA).

Williams is 0-2 with a 5.73 ERA (11 IP, 7 ER), 16 H, 2 BB and 9 K in 1 start and 4 relief appearances.

  • Lost his last start 5-2 at the Arizona Diamondbacks with 2 IP, 4 ER, 7 H, 0 BB and 0 K.
  • vs. Cardinals on the current roster: 3.78 FIP with a .285/.326/.456 xBA-xwOBA-xSLG slash line, 18.9 K% and 89.9 mph EV in 122 PA.

Cardinals at Mets picks and predictions

Prediction

Cardinals 6, Mets 3

Money line

GIMME the CARDINALS (+100) because they have the hotter bats and Mikolas is a top-of-the-rotation starter whereas Williams isn’t even in New York’s rotation, but takes the hill Monday because Mets SP Jacob deGrom is still on the IL.

Over the last 2 weeks, the St. Louis lineup is 3rd in both WAR (3.3) and wRC+ (126), 4th in wOBA (.344) and 5th in BB/K rate (0.51), per FanGraphs. New York’s lineup ranks 15th in WAR (1.6), 17th in wRC+ (98) and 19th in wOBA (.299).

Mikolas is FanGraphs’ No. 26 power-ranked starter, Williams is the No. 289 power-ranked relief pitcher and Cardinals batters are familiar with Williams,  who pitched in the NL Central for the Pittsburgh Pirates from 2016-20.

Williams is 4-6 all-time vs. St. Louis with a 5.64 ERA and 1.61 WHIP in 14 career starts and 5 relief appearances.

BET 1 unit on the CARDINALS (+100).

Run line/Against the spread

SPRINKLE on the CARDINALS -1.5 (+160), if at all, because St. Louis is 11-5 RL on the road (3-2 RL as road favorites) and the Mets +1.5 (-200) are 7-10 RL at home (0-1 RL as home underdogs).

All 3 of the previous Cardinals-Mets games were decided by at least 3 runs and St. Louis has won all 3 of Mikolas’ road starts this season by at least 2 runs.

Over/Under

LEAN to the OVER 7.5 (-125) only because St. Louis’s ML is my favorite wager in this game and more cash is on the Under while more bets are Over (according to Pregame.com), which suggests the Under is taking professional money.

But the weather forecast is predicting nearly 12 mph winds blowing out to right-center field, St. Louis is 4-2 O/U in Mikolas’ 6 starts this season and the Over has cashed in 5 of the past 7 Cardinals Mets meetings in New York.

The St. Louis Cardinals (75-69) and New York Mets (72-74) meet Wednesday at 7:10 p.m. ET to close out a three-game series at Citi Field. Let’s analyze the lines around the Cardinals vs. Mets odds with MLB picks and predictions.

LHP Jon Lester is the projected starting pitcher for the Cardinals. He is 5-6 with a 4.75 ERA, 1.54 WHIP, 5.4 K/9, and 3.6 BB/9 over 119 1/3 IP through 24 starts.

  • Owns a 1.90 ERA and 1.14 WHIP over his last four starts.

RHP Tylor Megill is the projected starting pitcher for the Mets. He is 3-4 with a 4.06 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, 10.2 K/9, and 2.3 BB/9 through 77 2/3 IP over 15 starts.

  • Allowed 2 ER on 4 hits and piled up a season-high 10K through 7 frames in his last start Friday against the New York Yankees.
  • Draws the benefit of a right-leaning St. Louis lineup. Lefty batters own a .971 OPS against Megill; right-handed batters have posted a .518 mark.

Mets 6, Cardinals 5

Money line (ML)

St. Louis has taken the first two games of this series and four in a row overall. The Cardinals are 6-1 with a 2.35 ERA over their last seven games.

Mets pitching has been shaky as they have recorded a 4.67 ERA en route to a 5-7 record over the last 12 games. Run prevention has been an overall strength for the Metropolitans: their 4.04 runs allowed per game ranks sixth in MLB.

New York has been hitting the ball better of late and own a robust .819 OPS since Aug. 28.

The New York National Leaguers have gone a respectable 43-30 at home.

Peg Megill as giving New York enough of a mound advantage to make the METS (-170) a solid play.

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

PASS on trying to get to a multi-run lead which may go through the efforts of an inconsistent Mets bullpen.

Over/Under (O/U)

The weather forecast calls for a warm, humid, breeze-out-to-center evening at Citi Field. Both hurlers are prone to coughing up home runs, and New York has scored 6 or more runs in four of its last five games.

TAKE THE OVER 8.5 (-107).
