St. Louis Blues at Anaheim Ducks odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Saturday’s St. Louis Blues at Anaheim Ducks NHL odds and lines, with hockey picks, tips and predictions.

The St. Louis Blues (4-2-1) travel to meet the Anaheim Ducks (3-3-2) at Honda Center Saturday for a 9 p.m. ET puck drop. Below, we analyze the Blues-Ducks NHL odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Blues at Ducks: Odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 7:26 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Blues -165 (bet $165 to win $100) | Ducks +140 (bet $100 to win $140)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Blues -1.5 (+165) | Ducks +1.5 (-200)
  • Over/Under: 5.5 (O: +105 | U: -130)

Blues at Ducks: Projected starting goalies

Jordan Binnington (4-1-1, 2.74 GAA, .913 SV%) at John Gibson (3-2-2, 1.87 GAA, .942 SV%, 2 SO)

Binnington and the Blues got an expected rest Wednesday when their game in Vegas was canceled due to a positive Golden Knights player test for COVID-19, as well as a member of the coaching staff. So Binnington and the Blues are about as well rested as you can be during these days of compressed schedule.

There’s no telling where the Ducks would be without Gibson. He has mostly stood on his head so far this season, posting a pair of shutouts in his seven starts. While there are no fans spurring him on at home, he has been much better at Honda Center, going 2-0-1 with a 1.33 GAA and .960 SV% in three starts with one shutout.

Blues at Ducks: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Ducks 3, Blues 2

Money line (ML)

The DUCKS (+140) are a nice value on home ice against the Blues as Gibson has just been an impenetrable wall so far this season, particularly in SoCal. In addition, St. Louis is just 7-21-1 in its past 29 trips to Anaheim, while the home team is a whopping 39-19-1 in the previous 59 head-to-head meetings.

Against the spread (ATS)

Backing the underdog, in this case the Ducks +1.5 (-200), is never a good idea on the puck line. Putting up two times your potential return is always a risky proposition, unless you tie it into a multi-team parlay. AVOID.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 5.5 (-130) will cost you a little extra, but it’s worth it. The Ducks use a very deliberate style on the offensive end, and they rank dead-last in the NHL with 1.8 goals per game. On the flip side, they rank fifth in the league with just 2.1 goals per game allowed. The Over has surprisingly hit in five of the past six for the Notes. However, a lot of it has to do with shaky defense/goaltending, as the Blues have allowed 10 goals in the past two, and 26 goals across the past six. The Ducks won’t do anywhere close to that, and the Blues will struggle to dent Gibby.

Los Angeles Kings at St. Louis Blues odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Saturday’s Los Angeles Kings at St. Louis Blues NHL betting odds and lines, with hockey picks, tips and predictions.

The Los Angeles Kings (1-1-2) travel to meet the St. Louis Blues (2-1-1) at Enterprise Center for an 8 p.m. ET puck drop Saturday. Below, we analyze the Kings-Blues odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Kings at Blues: Odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 10:10 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Kings +165 (bet $100 to win $165) | Blues -200 (bet $200 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Kings +1.5 (-165) | Blues -1.5 (+140)
  • Over/Under: 5.5 (O: -115 | U: -105)

Kings at Blues: Projected starting goalies

Jonathan Quick (1-0-2, 3.18 GAA, .897 SV%) at Jordan Binnington (2-1-1, 2.67 GAA, .913 SV%)

Quick is rebounding from a terrible season in 2019-20. He suffered a pair of overtime setbacks against the Minnesota Wild to open the season before posting a win against the Colorado Avalanche Thursday. Quick was 0-2-0 with a 4.08 goals against average and .871 save percentage in two meetings with the Blues last season.

Binnington has been up and down so far, and he is coming off a 2-1 shootout loss against the San Jose Sharks Wednesday. Even though he didn’t win, it was his finest outing of the season. He went 2-0-0 with a 1.50 GAA and .954 SV% in two meetings with L.A. last season.

Kings at Blues: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Blues 4, Kings 2

Money line (ML)

The Blues (-200) are a little too rich for my blood, especially since the Kings haven’t been half bad this season. Risking twice as much as your potential return is just not for me. Look to the puck line instead.

AVOID.

Against the spread (ATS)

I like the BLUES -1.5 (+140) on home ice, and they’re much more appealing at this price point. St. Louis won its opener 4-1 Jan. 13, covering the puck line, but it hasn’t done so since.

Last season, the Blues outscored the Kings 9-3 in two wins, covering the puck line in each outing, and they have won and covered the puck line in each of the past three vs. L.A.

Over/Under (O/U)

I am never a fan of providing columns for you and offering just one side of three, but sometimes the best bet is the one you don’t make. The Over/Under is 2-2 for St. Louis, while the Over is 3-1 in four outings for L.A. to date.

PASS.

San Jose Sharks at St. Louis Blues odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Wednesday’s San Jose Sharks at St. Louis Blues NHL betting odds and lines, with hockey picks, tips and predictions.

The St. Louis Blues (2-1-0) and San Jose Sharks (1-2-0) meet for the second time in three days at Enterprise Center for a 9 p.m. ET puck drop Wednesday. Below, we analyze the Sharks-Blues NHL betting odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

The Blues came away with a 5-4 victory Monday with W Jordan Kyrou scoring the winner midway through the third period. The Blues outshot the Sharks 33-26.

Sharks at Blues: Betting odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 10:35 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Sharks +160 (bet $100 to win $160) | Blues -190 (bet $190 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Sharks +1.5 (-165) | Blues -1.5 (+140)
  • Over/Under: 6 (O: +100 | U: -120)

Sharks at Blues: Projected starting goalies

Martin Jones (1-1-0, .869 SV%, 4.34 GAA) vs. Jordan Binnington (2-1-0, .883 SV%, 3.38 GAA)

Jones is expected to return to the crease Wednesday after Devan Dubnyk took the loss Monday against the Blues. Jones was pulled from his last start after allowing 5 goals on just 24 shots against the Arizona Coyotes Saturday.

Binnington expects to see an increased workload this season after former backup Jake Allen was dealt in the offseason. The 27-year-old Binnington posted a .912 save percentage and 2.56 goals against average last season after winning the Stanley Cup as a rookie in 2018-19.

Sharks at Blues: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Blues 4, Sharks 1

Money line (ML)

The BLUES (-190) dominated the Sharks last time around and were unlucky to come away with just a one-goal victory. They registered 24 scoring chances at 5-on-5 to just 8 for the Sharks. Two of San Jose’s 4 goals in the game came on three power-play opportunities while St. Louis went 0-for-3 with the man advantage.

The Blues also controlled puck possession with 60.87% of the total shot attempts (including blocked and missed shots) at full strength.

The lineups remain the same Wednesday and the Blues retain a significant advantage in the goaltending battle. Lock-in the home side.

Against the spread (ATS)

Expect a better performance from Binnington in this second meeting with the Sharks. Back the BLUES -1.5 (+140) following their clinic in puck possession Monday.

San Jose figures to improve on last season’s disaster but through three games, it doesn’t seem as though it’ll be a quick turnaround.

Over/Under (O/U)

Take the UNDER 6 (-120) while expecting Binnington to keep the doors closed. He held the powerful Colorado Avalanche to just 1 goal on 27 shots in his season debut but has allowed 8 goals on 50 total shots in his last two outings.

Game 1 is much more in line with his career performance.

St. Louis Blues at Colorado Avalanche odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Friday’s St. Louis Blues at Colorado Avalanche NHL betting odds and lines, with hockey picks, tips and predictions.

The St. Louis Blues (1-0-0) and Colorado Avalanche (0-1-0) close out their two-gamer in Denver with a 9 p.m. ET puck drop at Ball Arena Friday. Below, we analyze the Blues-Avalanche NHL betting odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Blues at Avalanche: Betting odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 12:40 p.m. ET.

  • Money line: Blues +125 (bet $100 to win $125) | Avalanche -150 (bet $150 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Blues +1.5 (-225) | Avalanche -1.5 (+180)
  • Over/Under: 6 (O: -110 | U: -110)

Blues at Avalanche: Projected starting goalies

Jordan Binnington (1-0-0, .963 SV%, 1.00 GAA) vs. Philipp Grubauer (0-1-0, .875 SV%, 4.00 GAA)

Binnington was sharp in Wednesday’s opener against these Avs. He stopped 26 of 27 pucks, and the lone goal Colorado scored was with an extra skater.

Grubauer let four goals get past him in Wednesday’s game. He has allowed 17 goals in his last five games against the Blues.

Blues at Avalanche: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Avalanche 4, Blues 3

Money line (ML)

The Blues battled back in the opener, allowing a first-period power-play tally and then scoring four unanswered goals the rest of the way in a 4-1 victory. St. Louis doubled up Colorado in 5-on-5 scoring chances (22-11), but from an analytics standpoint, the Avs were solid in the second and third periods after a sloppy start.

Colorado hasn’t lost back-to-back games at home since Feb. 13, 15 and 17 of last season. TAKE COLORADO (-150).

Against the spread (ATS)

PASS and stick with the straight-up play, and take late-game chicanery out of the equation.

Over/Under (O/U)

Colorado was 2-for-2 on home ice against the Blues in 2019-20. The Avs scored 12 goals over those games. Look for this one to swing toward the skaters on both sides.

TAKE THE OVER 6 (-110).

St. Louis Blues at Colorado Avalanche odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Wednesday’s St. Louis Blues at Colorado Avalanche NHL betting odds and lines, with hockey picks, tips and predictions.

The Colorado Avalanche head into the new NHL season as the betting favorites to win the 2021 Stanley Cup. They’ll start their quest at home Wednesday with a 10:30 p.m. ET puck drop against the St. Louis Blues in the Ball Arena. Below, we analyze the Blues-Avalanche NHL betting odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Blues at Avalanche: Betting odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 3:05 p.m. ET.

  • Money line: Blues +120 (bet $100 to win $120) | Avalanche -145 (bet $145 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Blues +1.5 (-225) | Avalanche -1.5 (+185)
  • Over/Under: 5.5 (O: -120 | U: +100)

Blues at Avalanche: Projected starting goalies

Jordan Binnington (30-13-7, .912 SV%, 2.56 GAA) vs. Philipp Grubauer (18-12-4, .916 SV%, 2.63 GAA)

Binnington regressed slightly from a stellar rookie season in which he finished second in Calder Trophy (Rookie of the Year) and 10th in Hart Trophy (MVP) voting. He’ll look to bounce back with the Blues having shaken off their Stanley Cup hangover.

Grubauer and Pavel Francouz both return for the Avalanche following the team’s second-round playoff exit last year. Grubauer’s expected to get the start in the season-opener and have the first crack at securing No. 1 duties.

Blues at Avalanche: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Blues 4, Avalanche 3

Money line (ML)

Take the value with the BLUES (+120) as underdogs to open the season. The 2018-19 Stanley Cup champs lost in six games to the Vancouver Canucks in the first rounds of last year’s playoffs, but they’re still viewed as contenders in 2021 with odds of +400 to win the West Division; the Avalanche are the favorites at +150.

The Blues lost defensemen Alex Pietrangelo (free agency) and Jay Bouwmeester (retirement) this offseason, but Torey Krug was added in free agency and will jump right in on the top pairing.

Binnington has the edge in the goaltending matchup. He went 2-2 with a total of 14 goals allowed in four games against the Avs last year, but he won his first two starts of the season against them.

Against the spread (ATS)

PASS on the spread.

The Avalanche have the talent up front to outscore any team any day of the week and when things are going well, they’ll be on the right side of plenty of blowouts this year. The Blues’ key to victory will be Binnington stealing the show. Stick with the value of the Blues’ money line

Over/Under (O/U)

The OVER 5.5 (-120) is the strongest play, as it will be most nights for Colorado.

The Blues are still without RW Vladimir Tarasenko (shoulder) for the start of the season, but W Mike Hoffman was added late in free agency and bolsters a strong top-six forward group.
