First look: Denver Broncos at Jacksonville Jaguars odds and lines

Looking at Sunday’s Denver Broncos at Jacksonville Jaguars Week 2 NFL odds, lines and trends. Here’s what you need to know.

The Jacksonville Jaguars (0-1) open up their 2021 home slate Sunday, Sept. 19 by welcoming the Denver Broncos (1-0) to TIAA Bank Field for a 1 p.m. ET kickoff. Below, we look at the Broncos-Jaguars odds and lines; check back for our NFL picks and predictions.

The Broncos notched their first September win since 2018 by dominating the host New York Giants 27-13 Sunday. Teddy Bridgewater, Denver’s 11th starting quarterback since Peyton Manning retired following the 2015 season, passed his debut test with flying colors completing 28-of-36 passes for 264 yards, two touchdowns, and most importantly, committing no turnovers.
Von Miller returned after missing the 2020 season due to injury and had a pair of sacks as the Denver defense held the Giants to 314 yards and 13 points. Six of those came on Daniel Jones’ last-ditch scramble on the game’s final play for a touchdown.
The Broncos did lose leading receiver Jerry Jeudy (six catches for 72 yards) to a high-ankle sprain in the third quarter.
Earlier Sunday in Houston, the favored Jaguars were overwhelmed by the Texans 37-21, spoiling the NFL debuts of QB Trevor Lawrence and head coach Urban Meyer. Lawrence completed 28-of-51 passes for 332 yards and three TDs but also tossed a trio of interceptions in suffering his first regular-season loss since becoming a starter in high school.
The Jags were hurt by 10 penalties for 82 yards and surrendered 449 yards defensively to new starting QB Tyrod Taylor and the Texans while failing to force a turnover.

Baltimore Ravens at Las Vegas Raiders odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing the Baltimore Ravens at Las Vegas Raiders Monday Night Football odds and lines, with expert NFL picks, predictions and best bets.

The Baltimore Ravens and Las Vegas Raiders meet at Allegiant Stadium for Monday Night Football. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:15 p.m. ET and the game is televised on ESPN. Below, we look at the Ravens vs. Raiders odds and lines, and make our best NFL picks, predictions and bets.

The Ravens have had a lot of difficulty with injuries. RB J.K. Dobbins suffered a season-ending injury two weeks ago in the preseason, and then RB Gus Edwards suffered a torn ACL this week. CB Marcus Peters also tore his ACL this week, so the Ravens are scrambling for replacements.

The Raiders finally get to open Allegiant Stadium to fans after closing the building in their first season in Las Vegas due to COVID-19. Owner Mark Davis didn’t want to open the team’s new palace to partial capacity last season. Look for a raucous crowd in front of fans who have been waiting a while to welcome their new team.

Ravens at Raiders odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Raiders 23, Ravens 20

Money line

The RAIDERS (+170) will have a raucous crowd at Allegiant Stadium in Sin City for this much-anticipated regular-season opener with fans in the stands. The home team also catches a huge break with the Ravens reeling due to injuries at several key positions.

Yes, Baltimore still has dynamic QB Lamar Jackson healthy and ready to go and he has a cadre of solid receivers but this is setting up nicely for Vegas to get off on the right foot.

Against the spread

If you’re not feeling the RAIDERS +4.5 (-115) straight up, you at least have to like them catching the points.

The Ravens are 5-0 ATS in their previous five regular-season openers, but they have never been banged up like this entering a new campaign. The Raiders are 4-1 ATS in their previous five season openers. They should continue that favorable trend.

Over/Under

The best play on the board in this Monday night battle is the UNDER 50.5 (-108). Baltimore’s defense remains stout, even without Peters. The Ravens still have 12 defensive backs on the roster, and they’ll fill the void, although no one can replace his ball-hawking skills.

The Under will come through because the Baltimore offense might be a bit predictable and one-dimensional without much of a rushing attack outside of Jackson. If the Ravens are forced to have an unbalanced offense with more passing than running, they’re going to be in trouble.

The Under is 5-2 in the past seven Week 1 games for the Ravens, while the Under is 4-1 in the last five Monday night appearances for the Raiders.

The Bills were unable to generate much offense in a 23-16 loss at home to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Buffalo led 10-0 at halftime, but Pittsburgh rallied for a 13-10 lead early in the fourth quarter and pretty much put it away with a blocked punt for touchdown.

The Dolphins went to New England and spoiled the debut of rookie QB Mac Jones, winning 17-16 after pouncing on a fumble with the home team driving. Miami was the only AFC East team to win in Week 1.

Bills at Dolphins head-to-head

The Bills trounced the visiting Dolphins 56-26 in Week 17 last season as 3.5-point underdogs, taking care of the Over on their own. Buffalo also won in Miami 31-28, but the Dolphins cashed as 2.5-point underdogs as the Over hit.

Buffalo has won five straight in this series, going 3-2 ATS. The Over is a perfect 5-0 in the previous five meetings, too. The last time the Dolphins protected their home field against the Bills was a 21-17 win Dec. 2, 2018.

The Saints won 33-7 in Week 17 at BoA as the Under connected, and they have won four consecutive trips to Charlotte – covering three times. In each of the covers, the wins were by 21 or more points.

Of course, a lot of that history is old news with QB Drew Brees under center for the Saints and QB Cam Newton for the Panthers. QB Jameis Winston is now the starter in New Orleans, Brees in the television studio and Newton is looking for a job.

Texans at Browns head-to-head

These teams met last season in Week 10 in a chilly rain on the shores of Lake Erie, and the Browns won 10-7 while the Texans covered a 4.5-point number. The Under was never in doubt of cashing.

These teams have met three times since Oct. 15, 2017, which is fairly frequent for two teams not in the same division. Houston is a perfect 3-0 ATS with the Under 2-1.

First look: Atlanta Falcons at Tampa Bay Buccaneers odds and lines

Looking at Sunday’s Atlanta Falcons at Tampa Bay Buccaneers Week 2 NFL odds, lines and trends. Here’s what you need to know.

The Atlanta Falcons (0-1) visit the NFC South rival Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1-0) Sunday for their Week 2 showdown at Raymond James Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:05 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Falcons vs. Buccaneers odds and lines; check back for our NFL picks and predictions.

Atlanta was dismantled by the Philadelphia Eagles 32-6 as a 3.5-point home favorite in what was the second-most lopsided victory of the NFL’s Week 1 slate. The Falcons were outgained 434-260 in total yards, converted just 3 of 14 third-down attempts and didn’t score a touchdown.

Tampa Bay beat the Dallas Cowboys 31-29 in the NFL Kickoff game Thursday but failed to cover as a 9-point home favorite. It was a thrilling opener to the NFL season as the Bucs won a back-and-forth contest thanks to a game-winning FG in the last minute set up by a standard QB Tom Brady final drive.

Falcons at Buccaneers head-to-head

The Buccaneers defeated the Falcons in both meetings last season (1-1 against the spread) with Brady torching Atlanta in each game. Brady had a 6-TD-to-1-INT ratio with a 66.3% completion rate, 394.5 passing yards per game and a 114.0 QB rating in the two contests.

To his credit, Falcons QB Matt Ryan also balled out in those games as well. Ryan had a 5-TD-to-0-INT ratio with a 67.7% completion rate, 310.5 passing yards per game and a 104.3 QB rating, but Atlanta’s defense got destroyed by Tampa’s aerial attack.
